I didn’t get to hear much of Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas, but what I heard was nice, though pretty reminiscent of the show the band put on recently at Roanoke Performing Arts Theatre. Here’s the review from that July 2011 show. Wow. A year has passed.

The Grammy Awards are on Sunday, and this year, two Southwest Virginia natives have a shot. On this podcast, we talk with DJ Cox, who graduated from Giles County High School, is one lucky and happy rookie. His band, contemporary Christian act Royal Tailor, is barely a year into its history as a recording and touring unit, and its first record, “Black & White,” is nominated for Best Contemporary Christian album.

Cox couldn’t be more excited or more gracious about it. On this podcast, we discuss how he got into the band, how he and his bandmates approach their job and what exactly the name Royal Tailor means.

Read about Cox, bluegrass album nominee Ralph Stanley and the Bristol Sessions box set in Sunday’s edition of The Roanoke Times and roanoke.com/entertainment.
