The many faces of ‘Bobby Thompson’ (with friends) UPDATED

This is a shot that 'Bobby Thompson' used to print his Christmas cards one year, inscribed with 'Happy Holidays from Bobby and George.'

Wanted: The bearded character in these shots

By now you have heard that the state of Ohio has charged one ‘Bobby Thompson’ (that’s not his real name), the founder of the U.S. Navy Veterans Association, with identity theft, money laundering, corrupt practices and other crimes.

Friday, Blanca Contreras, an associate of Thompson, was nabbed at the airport in Charlotte, N.C., as she got off a passenger flight. She’s charged with the same crimes as above with the exception of identity theft.

‘Thompson’ is still on the lam, living either under his real identity or another phony one he’s picked up over the years, such as the one he allegedly purloined from a New Mexico disabled veteran  named Ronnie Brittain.

‘Bobby Thompson,” which the Ohio Attorney General says he stole from a Washington state veteran, was the main one, though. And it as Bobby Thompson that this shyster con man made many many big-ticket political contributions, usually to ultraconservative Republican but also to

This one was shot at the President's Dinner 2008, by which time 'Bobby' had put aside his specs. Not sure who the guy on the right is -- anyone know?

some mainsteam ones. (A couple of Democrats got some money, too)

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s campaign got more than any other politician in the country ($55,500). In August, long after it was apparent ‘Thompson’ was  a flimflam man, Cuccinelli announced he would give that money to legitimate veterans charities.

One thing ‘Bobby Thompson’ is rotten at is avoiding having his picture taken. He has even posed for them, at various functions, with prominent politicians to whom he’s given campaign contributions. And that is what we bring you today, in the spirit of helping to identify his true identity, and perhaps apprehending him to for law enforcement authorities. The photos you see here are courtesy of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

'Bobby' with Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, who may be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.

All of the pols here are Republicans (his chief beneficiary). Listed after then is the amount the campaign finance records list as how much ‘Thompson’ contributed to their campaigns, if any.

Either this con man was shy at having his mug shot alongside Democrats, or he never bothered to show up at their political shindigs. In any event, you shouldn’t hold anything against the pols. They are equal opportunity photo subjects when it comes to grip and grins. They will pose with anyone for money (and that goes for Democrats, too).

From left, Sen. John McCain, 'Bobby Thompson,' his friend Blanca Contreras, and Cindy McCain ($500)

With Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Florida ($1,000)

With former New York Mayor and 2008 Republican presidential primary candidate Rudy Guiliani ($4,600)

Not sure where this one came from -- it looks like a police mugshot, or an identity card photo for a driver's license or passport, and he hadn't colored his beard in awhile.

Marked Man (Mark) found this on Tampabay.com, which says it got it from the Ohio Attorney General. (They didn't send this one to me).

I know who this guy is. Look closley its Tommy Chong can’t you see man? All kidding aside Peoplo who scam on Veterans are some of the lowest scum on earth. I am sure that he associated with Dems also they were too cheap to donate to his scam. All the dems money went to save the whales and to stop global warming and for Al Gore’s new loves

  2. Henry | October 18, 2010 at 8:54 am

Fred Phelps has a picture on his page with Al Gore. Plenty of great shots of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with real criminals like John Huang who was siphoning Indonesian money to the Democrats. But, of course, those are Democrats and the state-run media won’t allow you to criticize the party in power.

  3. Dan Casey | October 18, 2010 at 9:22 am

The first person who submits a picture of “Bobby Thompson” with a Democrat wins a book from my shelf.

The first person who submits ANY picture of this “Bobby Thompson” that I haven’t already used on this blog will win a book.

The fact is, I’ve published every picture I’ve got. Henry, if you’ve got a shot of “Bobby” with Hillary or Al, send it in. (But he didn’t given either one of them any money, at least not under the phony name “Bobby Thompson).

#2 Predictable, Henry. Hey, Dan, take down those photos IMMEDIATELY!! Why? Well, because Dems have been photographed in the past with shady characters, so it’s not fair to show Rethugs with shady characters. That’s why. Stick out bottom lip, pout, whine.

  5. Marked Man (Mark) | October 18, 2010 at 9:49 am

I just sent you a pic of him you haven’t used before, Dan.

  6. Debbie | October 18, 2010 at 12:07 pm

Fred Phelps, Henry?? Please tell me you’re not an advocate of the man who protests at military funerals, and blames the deaths of soldiers on gays,

  7. Al | October 18, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Personally I like the ones of obama kissing the as…er, the hand of the arab king as he kneeled. Or maybe the one with the warm fuzzie smiles of he and the chief prez dictator for life High Chavez. And there are plenty of him with his former spiritual leader racist preacher….no, we don’t want them in our lib fish wrapper.

  8. Dan Casey | October 18, 2010 at 12:24 pm

Al, thank for the GREAT line in my Sunday column, btw.

    Got any more good ones?

  9. Henry | October 18, 2010 at 12:36 pm

“Fred Phelps, Henry?? Please tell me you’re not an advocate of the man who protests at military funerals, and blames the deaths of soldiers on gays,”

No but Al Gore appears to be one of his advocates. How do you feel about that? (crickets, crickets)
Here you go, Dan, Al Gore and Fred Phelps

Al, I sent Dan some pics of other famous bows since you so like the idea. Were you that jazzed when Bush literally kissed the Saudi King? No, I didn’t think so.

  11. Sandi Saunders | October 18, 2010 at 12:38 pm

I must admit, Mr. Thompson and I have one thing in common. We both cannot pick good looking glasses worth a spit!

I love this twisted reasoning. Obama is photographed with various “shady” characters — and this somehow invalidates or dismisses or justifies or rationalizes (choose your verb) this current discussion about “Bobby Thompson” and his possibly worse-than-shady financial dealings with various conservatives. We’re not talking about who gets equal time or tit-for-tat coverage here — we’re talking about a guy who may be hiding from the law because he’s got a lot to hide. How about this one, Al: Sarah Palin wasn’t wrong for saying that she saw Russia from Alaska because Barack Obama once said that there are 57 states. That make any sense to you? (Well, actually, it probably does … ) Anyway, my mother doesn’t wear combat boots, Al.

  13. Marked Man (Mark) | October 18, 2010 at 1:29 pm

We have determined you can see Russia from Alaska with the naked eye.

I dont think as of yet you can see the 57 United States with anything.

  14. Dan Casey | October 18, 2010 at 1:37 pm

Even if a naked-eyed politician in Alaska CAN see Russia, who cares? It does not amount to foreign policy experience, which is how Palin justified making the remark.

  15. Marked Man (Mark) | October 18, 2010 at 1:51 pm

Agreed Dan, but it sure beats the hell out of walking around the Senate wondering why there aren’t 114 members there…

  16. AF | October 18, 2010 at 4:31 pm

ZZZZZZZZ … what? Huh? Did somebody just say something?

  17. Marked Man (Mark) | October 18, 2010 at 4:40 pm

” That make any sense to you? (Well, actually, it probably does … ) Anyway, my mother doesn’t wear combat boots, Al.”

“ZZZZZZZZ … what? Huh? Did somebody just say something?”

Nah, it was a nobody… go back to sleep…

  18. Realist | October 18, 2010 at 9:34 pm

@ Sandi 11 “I must admit, Mr. Thompson and I have one thing in common. We both cannot pick good looking glasses worth a spit!”

Hopefully you have better luck picking hair stylists than he does at least. Man, that mess is out of hand.

On a serious note…anybody else think it looks like he has cheek pads in or silicone injections or something to change facial appearence?

  19. Realist | October 18, 2010 at 9:36 pm

    Caption for first photo:

43 is thinking “Who is the crazy looking man and why does he always show up for dinner? I’d better just smile and shake his hand because he looks like a shoe thrower”

  20. Dan Casey | October 18, 2010 at 10:09 pm

You gotta admit Realist has a point about “Bobby’s” cheeks. In some of those pics they look like a B-cup, and that he needs a facial bra, if there is such a thing.

  21. Dan Casey | October 18, 2010 at 10:10 pm

I like the Boehner photo myself. That could be our next Caption This!

  22. AF | October 18, 2010 at 11:52 pm

It’s like shooting fish in a barrel.

Whoops, didn’t scroll down far enough. As the late, great Emily Litella used to say, “never mind”

  25. Dan Casey | October 19, 2010 at 12:53 am

Sorry Art! MMM beat you to the punk.

You can still win a book if you can find a shot of Bobby and Ken Cuccinelli together.

  26. Realist | October 19, 2010 at 4:06 am

Also. Either three or four of those pics are from the 2008 dinner, or else homeslice didn’t spend much of that stolen money on ties. I’ll not mention the hair again, he’s easily got 2010 Criminal Hair of the Year locked up.

Sorry, OG. I’ve used that shot of Bobby often on this blog.

Where’s the photo of Thompson and Patsy Ticer, the Democrat he gave $1000 for introducing a bill to enable Thompson’s fundraising scam ?

Guess you forgot that one, huh?
