You have to love a holiday when even atheists celebrate the teachings of a southern Baptist preacher.

    Dan

For all the struggles of men and women people still don’t get it nor care.

When will people treat their fellow man honestly without racial objectivity.

The Virginia Lottery will follow the same schedule as all other state offices and will be closed for Lee/Jackson and Martin Luther King, Jr. days on Friday, January 14 and Monday, January 17.

Lottery offices will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18.

All Lottery drawings will be held as usual at their normal times on these days.

For those that read the above comment it’s indescribably how I feel. It’s about the sacrifices both Whites and Blacks made to be treated fairly or treated with respect sometimes feels half hearted since Barack Obama was made President than any other time past.

As a people we’ve came a long way shouldn’t we embrace those very ideals that make us, this country great. Instead of harboring on those things that don’t.

For those that would post the comment “get over it”. I wish we could change for one day and you would see how people have gotten over it.

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable… Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.

Yesterday I saw a truck on 81 with a bumper sticker that said “I have a dream”…and had a picture of the White House with the Confederate Flag flying over it.

These quotes are a good antidote to that

Over 40 years later, in a 3″x3″ box of grainy video and sound, absolutely spellbinding.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Gee, this is what conservatives think. Liberals hate this quote.

About this blog

Metro Columnist Dan Casey knows a little bit about a lot of things but not a heck of a lot about most things. That doesn't keep him from writing about them, however. So keep him honest!

He welcomes your rants, raves and considered opinions, so long as the language is civil (i.e. no four-letter words). He'll read all your posts and may or may not respond.
