And the 80,000th comment on this blog is by . . . ‘Lori’
The poster who goes by ‘Lori’ posted the 80,000th “approved” comment to this blog at 4:50 p.m. today, folks.
Congrats, Lori! That distinction wins you the honor of your choice a a volume (or another prize) from Dan’s Bookshelf.
As with other posters of milestone comments on this blog, we hope you’ll take the time to introduce yourself to the rest of the crew. Tell us how old you are, your marital status, about your kids (if any), your job, your politics, and anything else you’d like to say.
Send these biographical details to me in an email, along with your choice of prize from the shelf, with a photo of yourself, or of a pet or something else if you’d prefer not to have your mug here.
Congrats again!

Congrats, Lori!
Congrats, Lori!!
Good for you Lori! Your contribution in the midst of so much swill is sweet and better than we deserve.
P.S. Lori, do not share anything to identify you, this is not a nice place with nice people and I would not want anyone to gain any more information on anyone. They are guaranteed to use it against you.
Dan, welcoming all rants and raves has a downside. I may be hooked, but I regret the day I came here on many levels and I certainly regret sharing anything personal.
Congrats, Lori!
I’d like to thank the Academy…oh, wait. Thanks, you guys!!
Thank you, Dan, for giving all of us a forum to vent, rant, and share! I’ll email some info along shortly!
Congrats Lori. FWIW I don’t regret coming here or sharing anything about myself. If anyone chooses to take issue with me or use something about me for blog fodder, it’s a them problem. I don’t rightly care what earthly people think of me aside from my wife, my bosses at work, and my cats. They’re the only ones I need to concern myself with on a day-to-day basis, my wife being the most important of them all.
#3 Sandi,
Agreed. Lori brings an element of civility only matched by Ron.
I am feeling the love!!
@ Steve C – Don’t forget DaveH. He posts links to get us thinking and talking. He’s always very civil, even when what he says amounts to “I don’t like you”.
+ 10
Thanks for the thought Steve C. However, I have not always been civil on this blog.
Congratulations Lori!!
Good for you Lori. its nice to have posters who don’t use hurling insults as their normal stock in trade. One piece of advice. After posting whatever personal data you choose to share, ignore the comments and insults that will follow from two or three bloggers. They will attempt to turn something intended to be positive into a snarling free for all. Don’t let them.
Congrats, Lori!!
Lori and I have had some great discussions and I have to say that Kristen, Lori, Suzie (when not being ridiculed or ridiculing), Magpie (where has she been?), and Debbie post some truly thought provoking comments that definitely prove that there are some true ladies on this blog.
I hope any of you five win every contest from here on out.
Never skip your comments Lori, you always bring something relevant to the table. Thanks!
Speaking for myself, thank you Mark.
Thanks too Mark, and Magpie COME BACK!
Lori’s classy comments are always thoughtful and thought-provoking. Congrats, Lori!

Yeah, and Sandi, too.
Thanks, Mark! I enjoy our discussions, too.
CNP – as with DaveH, I enjoy your posts, too, because you post things to spur conversation. Case in point, your tax proposal, which prompted some very lively and thoughtful debate.
Re: #9
Lori,
Thanks for the complement. I am honored to be included in you group.
OTOH, I hope no one actually thinks “I don’t like you”.
I have a modified ethic based on the old-school “Love the sinner, hate the sin” — which I apply to uncouth, foulmouthed, offensive, boorish, disrespectful, vulgar fallacious attacks of the Argumentum ad Hominem and Tu Quoque sort.
However, as to disagreements, or differences of opinion I am the quintessential YMMV guy. Opinions are like noses. Nearly everyone has a nose — it’s just that some just smell more than others, IMHO.
As Cold nP says, “you always bring something relevant to the table. Thanks!” That’s what I like. Folk bring something to the table, sharing, debating, in a good exchange of ideas. I learn a lot for many folk on this blog. Thank you all, and thank you specifically, Lori.
#14 Suzie, a true lady, MMM? I bet you owe several people new monitors or keyboards for that one.
Troll has won at least two contests but refuses to take a prize because she’s too paranoid about something or other to give Dan her address.
I have never “outed” anybody here on this blog, in terms of their actual name, address, and so on. And it is my intention never to do that. Some people are leery of that pledge; Suzie is one of them.
Tell us, gdad, how your life would be drastically different if Suzie (or anyone else) chose whether or not to claim one of Dan’s prizes.
#23 As some folks know, Dan knows exactly who I am and where to find me but has never come close to outing me.
I would note that MMM has claimed prizes here, and I have not outed him to anyone (except that, following agreement of both, I put MMM and Other John in touch.
Yep and thanks for that, Dan!
#24 I’m searching around, MMM, for any evidence that I indicated my life would be different if troll or anybody else accepted a prize, but I’m finding none. Where did you get that strange notion? Something else you made up?
You said you hoped the suze would win prizes and I simply told you she had already done so and refused to collect because she didn’t want to give her address. I’m not the only person who, in their personal opinion, found this odd and somewhat paranoid.
I am going to ask that we keep at least one thread free of the pointless back and forth between MMM & gdad. I love what you both contribute EXCEPT when you use the blog to trade insults. You guys are better than that!
Yes you did, Dan, and it’s been a pleasure hitting the links with Mark a few times. Which, by the way, we need to do again now that it appears we’re maintaining more spring-like weather instead of the cold, windy, snowy mess from winter…I used to love snow, now not as much. I think mainly because I can’t do much outside in winter like I could in Virginia Beach, where I’d be golfing in January pretty regularly.
I don’t recall saying I hoped anyone claimed any prizes… just that I hoped any of those people I mentioned would win the contests. You were the only one that seems to take offense that someone didn’t give personal info.
I realize this is a lot to ask, but try to get your facts straight, gdad.
#31 Oh please, MMM. This is the kind of crap that causes people to roll their eyes at your posts. I don’t think you can get any sillier.
Maybe the next time I’m in the area I can let Dan know and MMM, OJ & I can play a round of golf.
gdad, you sure do enjoy speaking for everyone else. I simply said I hoped the people win the contests. You turned it into a major concern of yours that Suzie or whoever doesn’t give out their personal info.
Whether they roll their eyes or not, gdad, they certainly understand that.
Ron, I would thoroughly enjoy that opportunity. You can also go to the webpage I have linked to my name, and go to the About Us page and contact me there too.
I had best hit a practice range and putting green soon though, I haven’t swung my clubs in a couple months! I keep pondering construction of a practice tee and small putting green in my backyard, I may well do that because I’d just enjoy having those available without having to go somewhere first.
Haha, I would enjoy that, Ron… as long as you can hit the ball while rolling your eyes at my silliness!
Hey, MMM I can hit the ball while looking almost any direction. It just doesn’t go where I want it to go.
Ron, I know the feeling…
