This guy paid 1 percent federal income tax in 2009
His name is Eric Schoenberg and he’s a former investment banker (he paid 16 percent in 2010). Meanwhile on Tuesday, the GOP minority in then Senate defeated the “Buffett Rule,” which would have put a surtax on incomes above $1 million — which 67 percent of Americans support.
Here’s the guy in his own words, on Huffington Post:
“Americans are understandably angry over the government’s multi-billion-dollar bailouts of reckless bankers. But low tax rates on investment income have put far more money into Wall Street’s pockets than the TARP bill did. Even President Obama’s proposal to let the Bush tax cuts lapse for the richest Americans would leave a top marginal rate on capital gains and qualified dividends of just 20% — half the proposed rate on labor income.
“This difference creates a loophole you can drive a Rolls Royce through. Having left Wall Street in 2002, I now earn far more money from my financial portfolio than from my job as an Adjunct Professor, and as a result I consistently pay under 15% of my income to the IRS. Still, I was astonished when my accountant told me that my tax rate for 2009 was a mere 1%.
. . . Some Tea Party types have observed that I am welcome to pay more voluntarily to the federal government if I want, but this entirely misses the point. Given the choice, of course I prefer to give money to my own causes rather than the federal government. But the whole point of democracy is for the community to decide what activities are in our collective self-interest. “Taxes are the price we pay for civilization,” and since we all share in that benefit, we should all pay our fair share of the cost.”

But Dan, what about all of the jobs he created with his tax savings?
I must offer praise and sincere thanks to the rich and well off people willing to tell the truth about their own knowledge of the unfair and punishing to labor rewarding to gambling tax structure.
We have the best tax, judicial and corporate structures their money can buy.
He just made the argument for a Flat Tax, not a higher tax rate. With a higher rate, he still would pay 1% using the loopholes.
“Even President Obama’s proposal to let the Bush tax cuts lapse for the richest Americans”
Obama isn’t proposing that. He is proposing let all the Bush tax cuts lapse, even the ones on the middle class. Even the poor would pay the higher 20% capital gain tax. It’s hard to take him seriously when he is so clueless.
Flat tax. Exactly. Why are people against this idea?
UTR, I think people are against the flat tax because the poorest wind up paying a higher percentage of their income than anyone (due to payroll taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, etc.). Taxes go up on the middle class as well while the rich get a huge tax cut. It redistributes the wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich, as if they needed any more help!
Henry, Obama has stated repeatedly that he wants to extend the Bush tax cuts for those in the middle class and below, but let the cuts expire for the $250,000 and up crowd (the top 2%).
A flat tax would punish the working poor and reward the wealthy, same as now, that is why so many of them push it. There is no way that will work.
10% of 30K leaves you 27K to work with
10% of 47 million leaves you 42million 300K
Do you really not see the difference? Proportional taxing is the ONLY fair taxing possible. It just is.
Our current tax code is laughably complex (and corrupt). I suspect you can smell the bacon if you read it. I, for one, would prefer a flat tax. Let the tax lawyers, accountants, TurboTax and their ilk go hungry for a change.
“Henry, Obama has stated repeatedly that he wants to extend the Bush tax cuts for those in the middle class and below, but let the cuts expire for the $250,000 and up crowd (the top 2%).”
The president has indeed said this, and tried it, to no avail. He also pushed for it when the Democrats could have actually accomplished it, in 2009/10, when they were in control of both chambers — but they chickened out. It should have happened back then, and I for one am just a wee bit glad that the Dems in the House got their comeuppance by losing control in that chamber. (Besides, look how entertaining the House has become since then, with idiots like Rep. Eric Cantor in charge).
So now the president is playing a game of taxation chicken with congressional Republicans. Either they allow taxes to rise on the wealthy but stay the same for the poor and the middle class, or EVERYONE’s taxes will go up in 2013 because the Bush tax cuts expire. It’s going to be interesting to see how this one plays out.
I see the difference in that its fair to everyone. I guess I need to go research it all a little more then.
67 percent of American public is in favor of a surtax on incomes above $1 million, and not one reputable economist can argue that such a surtax would in ANY way harm the recovery efforts. What it would do is bring $40-some billion more dollars into the federal treasury over 10 years and help stanch the deficit that conservatives cry so loudly about.
Yet, 47 percent of the Senate (all but one Republicans) blocked such a move. I’m not sure how many of them up are up re-election this year, but you can bet this is going to get used against the ones who are. One prescient commentator has called it the Obi Wan Kenobi of legislation – struck down, it’s more powerful that if it would have passed. The GOP could have passed it and totally disarmed the Dems. But then the Koch Brothers would have had a conniption fit.
Why not Fair Tax? i.e. tax on good and services only, taxed once. Necessities not taxed at all.
“Why not Fair Tax? i.e. tax on good and services only, taxed once. Necessities not taxed at all.”
Because it’s not fair at all. It’s just another unfair tax that benefits the rich.
Would the “flat tax” encompass investment income? All income taxed as ordinary?
What it would do is bring $40-some billion more dollars into the federal treasury over 10 years and help stanch the deficit that conservatives cry so loudly about.
$4 billion a year? Hell, that wouldn’t even cover Moochele’s vacations. Monkey Boy is driving up the deficit up at 400 times that rate. Besides that, do you really think America’s rich, the smartest people in the country would stand for being raped by the tax man? Nope. We wouldn’t. We’d do whatever we could to avoid the tax, from retiring to finding more shelters to moving assets out of the country.
10% of 30K leaves you 27K to work with
10% of 47 million leaves you 42million 300K
Do you really not see the difference? Proportional taxing is the ONLY fair taxing possible. It just is.
Sandi thinks it’s only fair when everyone has the same amount left, even if some have worked their tails off for the greater amount they get. She thinks it’s equitable for someone to pay $4,700,000 in taxes while someone else pays $3000 and enjoys the same or more government services.
“Would the “flat tax” encompass investment income? All income taxed as ordinary?”
Could that be true? Would the wealthy EVER go for their unearned income to be (gasp!) taxed as much as the ordinary incomes of poor slobs who have to work for a living?
No frickin’ way. They want their advantage. And they believe they have earned it. Even the ones who were born into their wealth weirdly think that way.
What good is wealth if you can’t use it to buy an advantage, and game the system in your favor?
There is fair and there is “fair”.
It is “fair” to say, work or starve, but who agrees to let people starve?
It is “fair” to say, pay for medical care or don’t get it, but who is going to let people suffer and/or die?
It is “fair” to say, lady change your own flat tire, but most men do it for them.
It is “fair” to say that every employee should be paid the same amount for a day’s work, but very few companies do that, even for those “on the same level”.
Do you get my drift yet? Fair is a relative term in this sense. It is NOT fair for someone barely surviving to pay the same tax rate as billionaires. It just isn’t. Not in any sense except the most self-serving.
Obama’s secretary pays higher tax rate than he and first lady do
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2017977948_obamatax14.html
Notice how these self-righteous hypocrites grab every single tax break available to them. Why don’t they refuse the tax breaks unavailable to 0bama’s secretary?
DanCasey, that’s exactly my thought. Which makes the “flat tax” a pile of nonsense just conceived to further screw people who are lowly enough to have to earn their money through wretched labor.
Oh God, here we go again.
You can’t logically argue against specific tax increases with the reasoning that they’re are chump change WHILE ARGUING AT THE SAME TIME that the government shouldn’t spend money on travel for the first lady.
But it makes sense that somebody like Suzie can’t understand that.
Oh yeah, “we” #14, are “rich” alright…and again, I’m a ballerina. You just can’t keep your word can you? Kinda like your bets, your honesty and your integrity, non-existent.
@15- Which is the bigger problem of them all. Who the hell is in control?
but they chickened out. It should have happened back then, and I for one am just a wee bit glad that the Dems in the House got their comeuppance by losing control in that chamber.
Dan thinks the Dems got whitewashed in ’10 because they voted to extend the Bush tax cuts. LMAO.
“The same government services”? Hardly. God, we have not missed your lies. Tghe RT refresh better be coming soon!
“Sandi thinks it’s only fair when everyone has the same amount left, even if some have worked their tails off for the greater amount they get. She thinks it’s equitable for someone to pay $4,700,000 in taxes while someone else pays $3000 and enjoys the same or more government services.”
Wrong again. In a system of progressive taxation, the $50 million earner, taxed at 38 percent, plus 6.5 percent (of the first $108k income) gets to keep $31 million to spend as he pleases.
The $50,000 earner, taxed at 15 percent + 6.5 percent, gets to keep $39,250 to spend as he pleases.
Just fyi, there is a big difference between $31 million and $39,000.
Suzie..why dont you let Sandi tell us what she thinks is fair.
We already know what you mean,,,and its historically meaningless.
“Who the hell is in control?”
People who can’t be bothered with “ordinary income” at all.
You can’t logically argue against specific tax increases with the reasoning that they’re are chump change WHILE ARGUING AT THE SAME TIME that the government shouldn’t spend money on travel for the first lady.
Let’s put this question to the American people:
“Do you think the highest achievers in this country should pay a surtax to finance exotic monthly vacations by Michele 0bama, her mother, her friends and a legion of Chicago hangers-on?”
Notice the leftwingers won’t compare tax dollars paid. No, they focus on every distortion and misleading stat instead.
Sure, let’s change the tax code, one tax return at a time. great idea! Is your ignorance worth what you paid to get it? You say the dumbest things for someone who is supposedly college educated.
When a structure is not sound, you do not put in one new window.
What I think is fair is a progressive tax system (the more you earn the more you pay) up to a certain percentage, just like we have already, with the loopholes and special carve-outs to favor the rich gambler over the hard working rest of us, removed. It is quite simple, they just will not stand for being part of the solution instead of part of the problem. Proportional taxing is fair.
“The same government services”? Hardly. God, we have not missed your lies.
Yes, perhaps I misspoke. The lazy non-taxpayers use far more services: the jails, the courts, the police force, the fire department, social services, welfare agencies, DEA, food stamps, public transportation…. God, I could go on, but my fingers are getting tired.
Notice how RWers won’t compare dollars left with taxpayers, after progressive taxation. No, they focus on every distortion and misleading stat instead.
“Tax dollars paid” is a total distortion you think makes it look bad. We understand proportion and fairness, even if you cannot.
Notice how when the argument focuses on “tax dollars paid” that even a flat tax comes across as “unfair” to certain RWers?
What good is wealth if you can’t use it to buy an advantage, and game the system in your favor?
The system is in my favor when I pay half a mil in taxes? No, the system favors a family who gets opulent free monthly vacations on the taxpayer dime.
But you know, that’s been the case for every crooked leftwing leader in history. The Soviets had their private dachas while their people couldn’t even get a piece of freaking meat. Romanians had to do with 10-watt bulbs while Ceaucescu’s private fountains were lavishly lighted. They all TALK a good game, but they live like kings while their subjects do without.
“Tax dollars paid” is a total distortion you think makes it look bad. We understand proportion and fairness, even if you cannot.
Your idea of ‘fairness’ is for someone else to pay more while you sit on your ass. Yeah, that takes real courage. It makes you such a noble person.
I just don’t get that a flat tax of whatever percentage on any and all income can’t be deemed as “fair.” It seems the absolute simplest. No questions asked, any income you pull in is taxed at lets say 10%. For everyone – you make a $1 it’s $.10, $1,000,000 is $100,000. It’s 10% any way you slice it.
“The system is in my favor when I pay half a mil in taxes?”
Half a mil is $500.
There’s no way you pay half a million, which is what you want people to believe.
Hey Suzie, who does all of “the jails, the courts, the police force, the fire department, social services, welfare agencies, DEA, food stamps, public transportation…” protect? Let’s turn them all loose and see who is being “protected” and from what?
What about the technology, roads, bridges, airports, schools, libraries, landfills, water treatment, monetary stability, military strength, and services my fingers are getting tired of typing that make your life finer and your business able to flourish? What about them?
Let’s all pay into the system the proportion of services used. What could be more fair than that? Let’s focus on the consumption side.
Let the folks who suck up most of the gov’t services pay most of the tab.
So, UTR, would you also be in favor of a flat tax on ALL income for SS, rather than merely the flat tax we have on the first $108k in income?
Even with flat taxes, the rich only like them when they can game the system and give themselves and advantage. Because even when they have that, they whine and moan that they’re paying more in TOTAL DOLLARS, like Suzie is right now.
Pray tell us what you are sitting on?
IF, and it is a BIG IF, you dream of paying “half a mil” in taxes, yes, the system that helps you make that kind of money (in your dreams) is definitely favoring you.
Always the scary Communists, next it will be Hitler and as usual for you, game over and a big old L.
Why are you so afraid of fairness? BECAUSE the system favors you…Duh!
Suzie, I would be more noble than you if I was a bank robber. That my POV happens to mesh with Jesus, Morality and Decency teachings is just a big old added bonus.
Sure Suzie we can “focus on the consumption side” and “Let the folks who suck up most of the gov’t services pay most of the tab”, but as I already pointed out, unless you are lying (always a distinct possibility) that will still be the wealthy and powerful folks like you (as if).
Hey Suzie, who does all of “the jails, the courts, the police force, the fire department, social services, welfare agencies, DEA, food stamps, public transportation…” protect? Let’s turn them all loose and see who is being “protected” and from what?
That’s a great argument. Achievers should now pay to be protected from the dirtbags who don’t pay. So in essence you want us to pay the dirtbags to leave us alone. That sounds a bit like extortion. You people are getting more convoluted all the time.
Notice Sandi doesn’t think non taxpayers use schools, bridges, or libraries, or need military protection and monetary stability. As for the the locally provided services, I pay for them too through my RE taxes. And it’s in addition to the federal and state taxes I have to pay.
That my POV happens to mesh with Jesus, Morality and Decency teachings is just a big old added bonus.
I don’t think so, hon. Jesus called upon us to use our own time and resources to help people, not demand everybody else do all the work which is part and parcel of liberalism.
Crap. Just when the blog is taking a turn for the better, it’s Baaack.
The break was refreshing. I make this solemn promise to myself.
I will not respond, I will not respond, I will not respond.
Pete: “I’ve always wondered, what’s the devil look like?”
Ulysses Everett McGill: “Well, there are all manner of lesser imps and demons, Pete, but the great Satan hisself is red and scaly with a bifurcated tail, and he carries a hay fork.”
Tommy Johnson: “Oh, no. No, sir. He’s white, as white as you folks, with empty eyes and a big hollow voice. He likes to travel around with a mean old hound. That’s right.”
Or just maybe he looks like…
Why are you so afraid of fairness? BECAUSE the system favors you…Duh!
Notice Dan, Sandi, and the other libs use the premise that they SYSTEM is responsible for hard-working people getting what they get. NOT the hard-working people themselves.
Honey, the ‘system’ hasn’t done a godd***ed thing except get in our way and make it more difficult to conduct business. The reason America has been superior to the other countries in the past is we have had fewer government impediments to success. Sadly the Moron-in-chief is doing everything in his power to wipe out that advantage.
Funny, but I just can’t remember Laura Bush and her mother taking all these opulent taxpayer-funded vacations. About the most GWB and his wife did was retreat to working vacations at Camp David or to the Texas ranch in 100-degree heat. Hardly glamorous
God, how America would love to return to the Bush years in which Americans were put first.
Seems to be a misconception going on here that the only “hard working” ones are the ones who are NOT classified as rich or millionaires. How come nobody wants to admit that many of those millionaires out there are getting paid the big bucks because they are working that much harder and/or smarter than those of us with average salaries?
To say anything other than a flat tax is fair is inaccurate in my opinion. If we’re all paying the same percentage of what we each individually earn, what could be more “fair?” Notice the keyword EARN in there. Some folks needs to stop pretending that many millionaires aren’t earning their pay.
How can anyone say that “you have to pay a different ratio than I do,” and pretend that this sort of statement could ever be called “fair?”
14+ trillion dept and growing
8%+ unemployment
race riots on the verge of erupting.
almost $4 a gallon gasoline
And Obama is still blaming everything but his failed policies and trying to divert attention from his dismal record.
Meanwhile back at the Columbian ranch,

Tax the rich — feed the poor— till there are no — rich no more.
“Pray tell us what you are sitting on?”
(raising hand!!!!!)
Oh good god, what is pitiful racist troll suzie doing back? Poor little thing has no life outside the blog so it has to return.
Sandi – You are always talking about how your views line up with Jesus. Are you talking about the Jesus of the Bible? I thought you did not believe in the Bible and the bloody sacrifice of the Son of God for our sin. Am I wrong? If you didn’t learn about Jesus from the Bible where do your strong opinions of what he taught come from?
I haven’t been out here in awhile but I see Suzie is still living the lie. She’s so wealthy and privileged that she doesn’t need government services. She never uses public roads because she has a hovercraft. She shouldn’t have to pay for public utilities because she owns an oil refinery. And lastly she shouldn’t have to pay for any welfare services because once a week she personally turns water into wine for the poor.
For the rest of you, I just want to thank you all for feeding the troll. When you don’t feed her she ventures over to AMac’s blog. It takes us weeks to remove the smell once she comes back to you guys.
So today we return to The Land Of Oz. Unfortunately Salem in Va. is not the old Salem of New England fame. Witches here are still free to ply their trade.
Poor AMac
“Well the rich get loopholes”.
The non-taxpaying ciphers don’t need loopholes.
Idiot alert!
Yes Will, you are wrong. You accepted Lake Claytor’s word that I could not be a Christian, not mine. I have followed Jesus and the example he set all my live. I am an utter failure on some of it, but I have enough success to call myself a follower of Christ and I have the references to back that up. Any more questions from your safe anonymous hiding place?
NO ONE uses “the premise that they SYSTEM is responsible for hard-working people getting what they get”. That is not even the discussion. Are you having a conversation with one of the voices in your head again?
The hard working people, those who make ten dollars an hour and those who make one thousand dollars an hour, are tired of the Wall Street Corporate Raiders getting rewarded for their crappy, dishonest and sleazy “hard work” while we actually work hard and get punished for it.
What is wrong with anybody who works for a living taking up for that disparity is not hard to fathom.
Buffett did not say his secretary should make the same AMOUNT of money as he makes, he said she should not have a higher tax rate, and she should not. No one who works for a living should pay a higher percentage in tax than people pay on their gambling money. That is the epitome of unfair.
Someone pulled a cross off a wall and drove it out…or was it kicked off another blog?
Here are some words from the book of Acts, chapter 4:32-36…interesting that this is the economic model the Apostles came up with after having spent a few years walking with and learning from Jesus. What would we be called by the right-wing ‘believers’ if we did this today?
“All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas (which means “Son of Encouragement”). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus. He sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles.”
Suzie seems to crave attention….lots of it. She clearly feeds off of the responses to her venomous posts.
The solution, however difficult, is to IGNORE her posts and do NOT respond. EVER.
Who are we to judge? She was born into this country for a reason….perhaps to test the limit of our tolerance to her intolerance.
Suzie, whatever you do, do NOT (EVER) post your full name, as your primary discourse is hateful (or hate filled, if you prefer). It’s not your fault that you may have been born into the wrong country that, overall, doesn’t support your beliefs. God Bless.
Perhaps I assume, However, per Wikipedia, “civility” is #1 – A Republican virtue.
will seems to not remember the television coverage of the olympics in China where an obviously inebriated George W. Bush was yukking it up in
front of the cameras. Nor does he remember any of the coverage of Orange man Jophn’s notorious imbibing habits as soon as the clock strikes five every day. Our leaders arte entitled to moments of relaxation and the opportunity to have a little fun. Because Hillary danced and drank a beer his conservative evangelical sensitivities are offended. Maybe, just maybe, he needs to get a life!
Dan
Did you lift the suspension or something? 10 days of pleasantry was nice but far too short.
Sandi – in your own words from the Blue Ridge Caucus Blog-
“Man projected the whole “saviour” aspect of cleansing our sin forevermore. I am convinced of it. God would simply have no need to do such a thing. Even the disciples were not totally committed to the being of Christ and all it manifested and they were there FGS! I reject that Jesus was my scapegoat or my key to the Kingdom of God. I just cannot accept that as his purpose nor that God would want us that way. Religion is the worship of God. The devotion, the reverence, the faith and the love that God deserves has to come from your heart and it has to be done knowing you will face judgement. Which also means he knows we will fail, stumble and sin. It is how we handle that sin, that failure, that will matter and how we turn to or away from God when we do that will be our measure IMO. That we cannot come to the Kingdom of God except as accepting the murder of Jesus for our sin is too simplistic to me. I am responsible for my every thought and deed and nothing Jesus sacrificed can or should change that.
I also refuse to believe that Jews, Muslims and many other devout in their faith in God people will be denied Heaven because they did not accept Jesus as their sacrificial lamb.
Comment by Sandi Saunders — September 19, 2011 @ 4:30 pm
I have many better things to do and nothing good EVER comes from a religious discussion. I guess I will never learn. If I burn in hell, I burn in hell, but I refuse to believe what I am told to believe and that my sin is mitigated much less paid for by the murder of Jesus. Man is the one looking for scapegoats not God.
Comment by Sandi Saunders — September 20, 2011 @ 9:23 pm
I am praying from my safe anonymous hiding place that you will find true saving faith. The sacrifice of God’s Son for our sins is not a man made concept. It is the central theme and purpose of God’s Word, “God Redeems His People”. The Jewish feast of passover was a forshadow of the “Lamb that takes away the sins of the world”. “Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgivness of sin”.
#56 Actually, OG, da troll PROMISED, VOWED that if Dan ever again deleted one of her posts for what she saw an no reason she was gone, vanished, outta here. Dan did delete one a couple of weeks ago dat da troll said broke absolutely no rules and so she pretty much vamoosed for a while. But here she is again, proving once again that she’s a liar.
Screwzie once again proves herself to be nothing more than a liar without no self-discipline.
I deleted two a couple of weeks ago, and I explained why. They did nothing else than viciously suggest that another poster here is retarded.
But I also noted: she cannot stay away. And I was right. And I also observed how sad that was. And I’m right about that, too.
I deleted two a couple of weeks ago, and I explained why. They did nothing else than viciously suggest that another poster here is retarded.
Suzie said she didn’t do that, and Dan has yet to produce proof she did. Until then, I’m going with Suzie’s word. Welcome back, Suz. You were missed, girl! I also notice a handful of others said they were leaving the blog and yet here they still are. Is that sad too?
Will, again attacking from that safe anonymous, sanctimonious place, NOTHING in my post says that I dispute Jesus lived, was crucified or gave us some very important lessons to live by, which is ALL I have ever “preached”, unlike some.
I DO believe a whole lot of the Bible is man’s projection, interpretation and opinion. The Vatican has a vast library of stuff “not in” the KING JAMES (think maybe there is a hint in there?) Bible and they also have a HUGE library of stuff no one is “allowed to see” and they have never released at all. I know already you are no genius but figure it out.
It is entirely plausible that like the old Jewish laws, impossible to keep in Leviticus, the “saviour” the Jews believe is still to come is also likely. YOU do not know, you ACCEPT what you have been fed from those who molded and presented the Bible. I do not know and I have the courage to admit it.
Still, that does nothing to say that Jesus, like Muhammad, was a great and spiritual prophet of God, who taught us much.
BTW, using your Bible as a weapon is that whole “judgment” thing you are not supposed to do. The only one you “exposed” here was your shallow self. No surprise there.
Suzie’s younger brother YAJ yet again illustrates that he doesn’t understand the meaning of the word “deleted”.Must be something in the genetic code.
yet another jason,
So how do you know Suzie? You were bound to have been invited to tag-team. That is, if you AREN’T Suzie.
Do you really not see the difference? Proportional taxing is the ONLY fair taxing possible. It just is.
Comment by Sandi Saunders — April 17, 2012 @ 10:33 am
I would agree Sandi with that statement, proportional taxing is fair. That is what a flat tax accomplishes. An equal portion out of everyone’s income would be taken proportionally as taxes.
However I suppose in your liberal mind you were searching for the term progressive.
“So, UTR, would you also be in favor of a flat tax on ALL income for SS, rather than merely the flat tax we have on the first $108k in income?”
Comment by Dan Casey — April 17, 2012 @ 11:45 am
Once again Dan you present half the story. Taxes are capped because benefit eligibility is capped.
I would say sure open up all earned income to OASDI and remove the cap on benefits that are eligible to be received. By the way I believe the cap is up to over $110k for 2012. That should bring a smile to your face.
Wouldn’t that be the fair approach. I know “fair” is the new buzzword, especially since “hope and change” both kind of petered out.
“That is, if you AREN’T Suzie.”
Same clown using a proxy server. Likes to pat itself on the back.
That’s a great point, YAJ.
Kristen, Dave H, Dave, Sandi, and Art have all said they were leaving the blog at one time or another.. All five have posted on this thread alone. I guess Dan thinks these are sad people who can’t give it up. The big difference between them and me? They couldn’t stand the heat. I, on the other hand, was appalled there were two sets of standards.
For my part, in addition to being badgered by various people to come back, I have decided to change my expectations about this blog. In prior years I praised it for being 100% unique and lauded Dan for treating all parties equally regardless of ideology. Now I know it’s not that way, and that the rules are not applied consistently. So I’ll just come in, make my case in my usual uncompromising way, follow the rules as I always do, then let the chips fall where they may.
Suzie’s younger brother YAJ yet again illustrates that he doesn’t understand the meaning of the word “deleted”.Must be something in the genetic code
Just because the posts aren’t visible doesn’t mean they’ve been deleted. Dan can and has resurrected them at a later date. He knows what both posts said, and he knows he’s not being truthful. I copied the time-stamped posts because I anticipated shenanigans such as this. But we all know they won’t see the light of day in here.
Without reading ANYTHING into this statement, does it do justice to what tax should be collected? “How much are the masses entitled to?” It seems like that standard gets higher each and every year. As I watch that standard pass me going up, I know the system is on it’s way a to big, un-fundable crash.
“Same clown using a proxy server. Likes to pat itself on the back.”
Yeah, probably a just different computer. We already know he/she will post someone else’s picture. That alter-ego is different enough that he/she though we’d be fooled. Yeah, I’m speculating, but there’s no answer as of now from camp yet another jason/Suzie either.
“So I’ll just come in, make my case in my usual uncompromising way, follow the rules as I always do…”
…and follow it with my alter-ego concurring with me.
It’s pretty comical. These idiots have two or three sets of marionettes under their own noses on their own side, yet they fuss about a guy who posts about six times a year.
Thanks for having my back, YAJ. xoxoxo
John W, yaj and suzie are without question the same person. We all know it.
And suzie has once again made herself a liar by returning. And then she lies claiming she always follows the rules, which we know without question not to be true. She even admitted that one of the two that were deleted last time might not have been kosher.
I honestly wish Dan would just ban her ass. The only other person I’ve ever said that about was DD (Matt Herring), who has threatened me more than once. I’m getting pretty tired of all the gun comments, but the blog was without question a MUCH better place without pitiful racist troll suzie. She is, quite simply, a vile piece of filth.
Yeah, we ALL threatened Dan that if he deleted a post we were “outta here” and then came skulking back like the lie was never told…..NOT.
You made your bed and refuse to lay in it…who saw that coming.
Yea, the Monkey Troll is back.
Awww Big Momma, I appreciate the effort at an assist but I said what I meant and I meant what I said.
Minus the infamous “loopholes” and deductions, everyone who makes up to 8700. single or 17,400 jointly pays 10% income tax
35,350 single or 70,700 jointly pays 15% income tax
85,650 single or 178,650 jointly pays 25% income tax
and so on and so on…. proportional, fair to all on that level.
My liberal mind agreeing that progressive was a given should have known better. Did you miss my post #30
John W, yaj and suzie are without question the same person. We all know it.
I’ve “been” about everybody in here, but frankly I’ve never heard the John W one before.
Yeah, we ALL threatened Dan that if he deleted a post we were “outta here” and then came skulking back like the lie was never told…..NOT.
That’s exactly what you did, kitten.
“Suzie’s being a bully, so I’m leaving and not coming back”.
Yea, the Monkey Troll is back.
I told my accountant he could finally relax today. You’ve er, sort of had your free time these past couple of months.
Suzie, you can have all the “marionettes” you can create. So “in addition to being badgered by various” imaginary “people to come back”, you just do the Suzie (change the parameters and declare the deal done) and move on. Some things never change.
As Sandi points out, the progressive income tax is indeed proportional. Everybody pays the same rate of tax in each bracket, on their adjusted gross income.
True, the tax rates rise through the brackets, and a larger proportion is paid in the higher brackets, but everyone in any one of the brackets pays the same rate. That is progressive, proportional — and fair.
What’s would be unfair (mostly to the rich) is no brackets with one flat tax. It would also hurt the economy, and worsen and already widening gap between the relatively few rich and the many poor.
Why would it be unfair to the rich? Because it would lead to riots against the relatively few rich by the many poor, many of whom would be well-armed thanks to the incredible laxity this nation has regarding gun control. The police and army would not protect the rich in these riots, because they would be poor, also (as well as way too few in number). So the rich would die and most or all of their formerly low-taxed wealth would be seized.
I don’t want to see a revolution that ends up with the blood of the wealthy spilled on the streets. It would be bad for this country generally, and unfair to the rich. That’s why I’m for a progressive, proportional and fair income tax.
(Many of the rich, and some of the not-rich — such as Big Mama — are too arrogant to understand this, though).
True, the tax rates rise through the brackets, and a larger proportion is paid in the higher brackets, but everyone in any one of the brackets pays the same rate. That is progressive, proportional — and fair.
Cool. So Dan is agreeing tax breaks for the rich are fair because everybody within the same bracket receives the same break.
Excellent. We are making progress.
“Kristen, Dave H, Dave, Sandi, and Art have all said they were leaving the blog at one time or another.. All five have posted on this thread alone. I guess Dan thinks these are sad people who can’t give it up. The big difference between them and me?”
The big difference is that no one likes you, nor cares what you think or have to say.
“I, on the other hand, was appalled there were two sets of standards.”
But not so appalled that your need for attention couldn’t overcome your ‘principles’ in the matter.
“I’ve “been” about everybody in here, but frankly I’ve never heard the John W one before.”
Yeah, I don’t know what gdad was going for there? Either an insult to me or sarcasm. Either way, it was kind of funny, in a gdad way.
It might fuel his speculation when I disappear for the weekend. As much as I’d like to say it’s in the name of giving a Sandi the feeling of running me off and little doggie treat of a victory for defendig her turf, it’s really to go to a VCDL event Saturday and work at a gun show on Sunday. I’ll give out a “Guns Save Lives” sticker just for her.
.
Nope, Dan agrees that tax increases for the rich are fair, because everybody within the same bracket gets taxed at the same rate.
I’m trying to help the rich, Suzie. I’m their advocate. I want them to live and enjoy the fruits of life that they’ve earned.
I don’t want them to be slain in the streets by hordes of have-nots, undefended by poor police officers whom the rich naively believed would protect them.
Sounds like a gun-free blog might be coming this weekend.
“I don’t want them to be slain in the streets by hordes of have-nots, undefended by poor police officers whom the rich naively believed would protect them.”
It doesn’t take a horde of have-nots, it takes one.
98.”Sounds like a gun-free blog might be coming this weekend.”
Possibly. That is if Dan can refrain from starting it. I think you probably meant a gun rights-free blog. Without Dave Hicks, Jack, me, or Phil Chitwood, that’s what it would be.
It sound like John’s self-image is struggling to accept the fact that absent his own gun mania there’ll still be many non-extremist gun rights supporters on this blog, who know that the Second amendment has been successfully protecting gun rights far longer than his scarcely two decades of adulthood, without radical redefinition.
If the gun show is like the one at Dulles last fall, John, notice how white, male, and tending to middle aged the crowd is. And don’t forget to say hi to the private sale parking lot buyers with out of state plates for us.
LIBERTY!!!
you just do the Suzie (change the parameters and declare the deal done) and move on. Some things never change.
——-
But not so appalled that your need for attention couldn’t overcome your ‘principles’ in the matter.
Not sure what’s the big deal about changing my view of this blog in response to the way the blog has changed. Isn’t adjusting to changing circumstances what intelligent people do? Wait. I’m talking to Sandi and Contradad.
, I don’t know what gdad was going for there? Either an insult to me or sarcasm. Either way, it was kind of funny, in a gdad way.
He wasn’t talking about you, numbnuts. John W is a different person.
“Honey, the ‘system’ hasn’t done a godd***ed thing….”
Is this how good Catholic girls talk? Using the Lord’s name in such a manner? Your asterisks and non-capitalization don’t make it okay. Jesus knows what you meant.

“But you know, that’s been the case for every crooked leftwing leader in history. The Soviets had their private dachas while their people couldn’t even get a piece of freaking meat. Romanians had to do with 10-watt bulbs while Ceaucescu’s private fountains were lavishly lighted. They all TALK a good game, but they live like kings while their subjects do without.

Or how about the guy who lives here:

while starving Zimbabweans drop like flies?
“JohnW COMMA YAJ and Susie etc
He was ADDRESSING you, not lumping you in with them, JohnW
Oh for the peace of real conversations with genuine people, we were so close.
Oddly enough, I am forcing myself to take a “sabbatical” Friday, Saturday and maybe even Sunday so I will not miss you or your insults this weekend either way John Wilburn. If you were here, you could lie and distort to your heart’s content. I am sure the time with your agenda driven friends will give you some new false material for next week.
Awww, look, she is trying to explain, she thinks we care. Suzie, you are what you are, and as sad as that is, we do not care. We do not care why you lied, why you ate crow and came back, or how long you will be here to torment rational discussion. You are certainly not alone in that pursuit, just the most vile at it. That people cheer you on says all we need to know about them too.
It is Dan’s blog and if he can live with you here, so can we. Please do not think you matter though. Ants are a fact of life too.
See what I mean? Brilliance like the sun shining.
One day one of our resident gun folks will come in all excited because some judge in Podunk ruled that the right to carry your gun into the bathroom with you is “protected” by the 2nd. And laud it as some big win.

Sandi can’t even get along with other libs. When the heat gets too hot, she runs away. How long until she ‘changes the parameters” and skulks back?
Warren, you’re wrong. I have no struggle going on whatsoever with anti-RKBA folks who are “for the Second Amendment”. Those have been around forever. Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstine both say that. The last 100 years have seen continuous erosion of the Second Amendment. Kicking back and not worrying about it IS NOT the answer.
You’re posts have become nothing short of mockery for the purpose of discrediting me. If you think about it, it means you’re starting to lose you civility as I have begun to. This blog is not good for either of us.
The gun show I’m going to is in Bluefield WV, where there will be plenty of non-white people and likely no “parking lot sellers”. You really don’t see that at gun shows, save for a guy or two hanging out, sometimes. You’re thinking of a flea market maybe. I can tell in all of your elderly wisdom, that you have learned everything you know about gun shows from the media.
Heavier participation in this blog is making me like Sandi. That is not what I want. That’s why I want to scale back, not for what any anti here says or doesn’t say.
Kristen,
“one, two, and three” has been bastardized to “one, two and three” by many people who think there is no reason to seperate the second and third items via the idea that the “and” is sufficient. It’s a new-school thing I don’t agree with and I just thought that was what gdad meant.
JohnW, gdad is no fool and you are clearly not Suzie. And I call you JohnW for the simple reason that it’s quicker…if we ever get another JohnW, I’ll have to accomodate.
No John Wilburn, this blog is making you more like Suzie. I am cold, hard and abrasive to you (and others) who do not tell the truth, do not assert facts and still hurl invective like you have the right to do so. THAT is Suzie behavior, not Sandi behavior. I tell the truth, even when it hurts. I offer facts, logic and well reasoned debate. You cannot do that with what you and Suzie offer and it makes you both mad. Sorry about your luck, but get over it.
Suzie, I said I was taking the weekend off, I am not skulking off, nor have I issued an ultimatum to Dan or anyone here over the parameters for my “staying” or “going”. That is your bailiwick. I will be back on Monday for sure. I am here till something better comes along. I am hoping for that sooner rather than later. I want a better blog, with people like you not on it, but while I am here, I LIKE needling you, calling out your lies, racism, bigotry and warped reasoning. You and John Wilburn are a debaters dream, ill-prepared, arrogant and wrong!
#102 Wrong as usual, suzie. I WAS addressing John Wilburn, who I refer to as John W. And I was NOT saying John W is you — Kristen read it correctly. So why would you call John W, except that you such a vile piece of slime.
But you and yaj most certainly are the same person. We all know it.
#111 John W, I was not saying you are the same person as suzie and yaj, hence no second comma. If I had been saying all three of you were the same person, I would have used the serial comma.
#109 suzie, you’re the one who ran away when Dan hurt your poor wittle feelings.
#104 Right you are, Kristen.
Suzie,,,skulking back?? Really?
You are truly expressing to all that
read here your psychologial projection.
If you arent aware of this it may be time
for a visit to the free clinic.
“it was kind of funny, in a gdad way.”
Nothing fuuny about a coward. Four letters you can’t pronounce.
Dan,,,did you mean gun free??
Or Free Guns..
cuz I mean if you wanna drag em out of the
bushes and snap a few shots ar Radio Shack.

91. – MTroll – After I welcomed you back? I am so hurt. One of the things I have known for a very long time is accountants tend to be terrible managers. I assume for instance that your hubby did not try to do all of his work in two months and work his staff long hours to the point of stressful mistakes and high turnover. That is poor management. The solution is to work reasonable hours and charge fees that enable you to work accordingly. Obviously your accountant is not charging enough for his services. Being the moral person you are, I am sure you will suggest he raise his fees so he does not work such long hours in the future.
But thank you for your concern for my practice. I assure you it is most appreciated. Now take your pills and ask hubby to take the keyboard again.
Ah, John Wilburn. When you are criticizing someone else’s use of the language, you might want to check your own. The word is sepArate, not sepErate. By the way, I learned “one, two and three” in school MANY years ago. It was considered more fluid than “one, two, and three”. Neither is wrong.
I see She is back. And still spouting her hateful, racist filth. Go back to your ugly little cave!
But you and yaj most certainly are the same person. We all know it.
This is from the guy who is Contrasuzie, and we all know it.
Wrong as usual, suzie. I WAS addressing John Wilburn, who I refer to as John W. And I was NOT saying John W is you — Kristen read it correctly. So why would you call John W, except that you such a vile piece of slime.
Apparently John read it the same way, We were trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand, you would walk over broken glass before admitting I was right.
As I recall, there has been an actual “John W.” posting here earlier. So you were unclear at best.
I assume for instance that your hubby did not try to do all of his work in two months and work his staff long hours to the point of stressful mistakes and high turnover. That is poor management. The solution is to work reasonable hours and charge fees that enable you to work accordingly.
My husband doesn’t cram a year’s work into two months because he’s not a CPA, Idjit.
Anybody with a brain knows every CPA who does general tax work is at the mercy of their clients who have to wait for their year-end statements or who just plain procrastinate in getting their stuff to the CPA. So there is no spacing the work out all year. You don’t know that because your workload is apparently extraordinarily light.
BTW, My accountant laughs at the notion of a a real CPA having time to chat in here all the time in March and April.
Old Blue, the one very rare occasion that punctuation made a difference in the meaning and it involved me, I made mention of it. I refuse to compose everything in Word to stress over misspellings as I’m not dedicating a minute more time to this blog. I don’t criticize grammar and comp just to do so except for a laugh or two at pammala’s puctuation-free, lower-case rants. I see all kinds of trivial misspellings and the wrong word from time to time, but don’t make it an issue, no matter who does it.
I believe in the old school method for a reason. “Blues, Rock, and Roll” is not the same as “Blues, Rock and Roll.” The second missing comma should be there to indicate that “Rock” and Roll” are sepArate items in the first example. Do it however you want. The people here that don’t like me will actually dedicate time to this just to poke at me, so I’ll let them have the last word on it. I don’t care.
I tell the truth, even when it hurts. I offer facts, logic and well reasoned debate.
Hon, you don’t debate. All you do is name call. That’s what uneducated people do.
I see She is back. And still spouting her hateful, racist filth. Go back to your ugly little cave!
Hmm. i don’t remember mentioning anything remotely racial recently. Or is that what the handbook tells you to say in this situation? What is it about all libbies, both leaders and peons? They can’t talk without a script.
“Anybody with a brain knows every CPA who does general tax work is at the mercy of their clients who have to wait for their year-end statements or who just plain procrastinate in getting their stuff to the CPA. So there is no spacing the work out all year. You don’t know that because your workload is apparently extraordinarily light.”
A smart accountant doesn’t begin his client’s tax work at the beginning of February. He (or she) is tracking the necessary statements and information through the tax year, so that when the time comes to pull the trigger on the tax return, the information is already all assembled.
Of course, like any profession, there are procrastinators (or deadline junkies) who put everything off to the last minute. You shouldn’t believe that, just because you’ve chosen to deal with one of those, that their modus operandi necessarily applies to everyone else in the profession.
I would say that the only accountants who find themselves hysterically busy in April are the H&R Block types who aren’t full time professionals with a regular clientele.
#125 suzie, both you and John W misunderstood my correct punctuation. I cannot help it if neither one of you got it right. That’s not my fault. Kristen, OTOH, got it exactly right.
And John Wilburn is quite aware that I’ve been addressing him as John W. That’s exactly why he knew I was talking about him (which I was). You just blew it all the way around.
#124 But, troll suzie, Dan knows both of us and has attested that we are not one and the same. Unlike you, Dan does not lie. NOBODY here has met both you and yaj.
#119 A coward, Phil Chitwood? What the hell are you talking about?
@129: Nobody tells me what to say. We’ve been over what is racist and you are apparently too inbred to understand it. Delete it, Dan, I don’t care. Trolls deserve no quarter.
126. MTroll – Obviously your accountant has his own problems to deal with, probably a client that wastes his time with stupid questions. Perhaps you are dealing with a tax preparer which limits his time to two months, so sorry. I would have thought your hubby knew better.
Best have him lock your keyboard as you are speaking about things you do not understand again.
Suzie, you talking about anyone else “name calling” is just pitifully sad. I am sure your accountant laughs, every time you leave the room. I cannot imagine a human being like you operating in the real world that does not have everyone you come in contact with laughing at you and mimicking your ah…”style”. No help for it, life’s oddities and freaks are always treated that way.
FWIW, I would be happy to leave you and John Wilburn alone, all you have to do is return the favor. Oh and my offer to leave the blog if you will remains open.
126 Mtroll – BTW, you seem preoccupied with my practice in going so far to discuss with your accountant. That is truly sweet and I am flattered. It is so good to know of your interest. But, no, I am very careful about who I accept as a client. Perhaps, your hubby though, he does no when to take you offline.
Our CPA gets our payroll info along with bank statements at the end of each quarter, since he prepares our 941 returns for us. By the time tax time comes around, he already has the majority of the info he needs. We did procrastinate this year, and didn’t get him the remaining info (credit card statements, credit line payments, 1099-INT) until this month, but that’s on us and not the CPA’s fault.
“Oh and my offer to leave the blog if you will remains open.”
What is this?! Are you trying to get a martyr’s plaque on Dan’s wall or something? Hahahaha.
I would say that the only accountants who find themselves hysterically busy in April are the H&R Block types who aren’t full time professionals with a regular clientele.
Spoken like someone who has only filed the EZ form. All legitimate accounting firms are slammed during tax season. Some schlub working out of his dining room? Not so much.
“All legitimate accounting firms are slammed during tax season.”
I think she’s talking about Liberty Tax Service. Ya think hubby owns the local franchise?
Liberty Tax Service
Speaking of Steve C., you never see him dancing around out there in August, do you?
We did procrastinate this year, and didn’t get him the remaining info (credit card statements, credit line payments, 1099-INT) until this month, but that’s on us and not the CPA’s fault.
Bingo, dear. Thanks for making my point.
JohnW must be thrilled SuzieQ is back. Apparently his lips have been jonesing for an ass to kiss.
Dont wear it out JohnW. Se posts plenty n
Yeah John Wilburn, I would certainly be a “martyr”. I have offered many times to leave this blog if she will go with me (and the alter egos she now posts under). She has refused the offer. She likes obnoxiously asserting her unwanted presence. As do others, go figure.
I have never “trolled” or even visited on a conservative leaning blog. I have never been on a gun advocacy site (although I have damn sure been mentioned on them). I do not P in your pool, or hers and why you both need to when you so obviously dislike the majority of the people, threads, topics, columns and causes discussed is strange. There is some sick need being fulfilled I suppose. Doubtless the DSM-IV has a name for it.
Sandi, I’m taking a leave. People that know me know me know what an understatment it is when I say I don’t back down from anything, so this is on my own terms. This blog is a serious hobby of yours and I’m glad you have it. I’d like to hear from you, though. Feel free to give me call at the number on my website at your convenience.
Who knows, I may be back for a good gun thread as Dan likes those (Dave Hicks let me know please), but for now, take care bloggers!
#132 What’s really hysterical is that this is about the 10th time I’ve destroyed suzie on correct usage of English, punctuation, or grammar. It’s so much fun.
“Suzie says:
My husband doesn’t cram a year’s work into two months because he’s not a CPA, Idjit.”
Your husband doesn’t cram anything in, obviously.
132 What’s really hysterical is that this is about the 10th time I’ve destroyed suzie on correct usage of English, punctuation, or grammar. It’s so much fun.
The goal of communication is to be easily understood. Your post was awkwardly written, if not incorrect altogether. Maybe there’s a reason you’re a VWCC parent. It’s the apple not falling far thingy.
a good gun thread
An oxymoron if there ever was one.
. A flat tax. Who could oppose the idea?
How about libs who won’t be satisfied until the achievers pay ALL the taxes? 47% who pay nothing is too small a number for them.
