Wow, Romney is looking like a worse and worse choice. Here’s what one person on the right said after Romney caved and let an openly gay member of his team quit:
Bryan Fischer, right-wing extremist and leader of the American Family Association: “Let me ask you this question, people have raised this question. If Mitt Romney can be pushed around, intimidated, coerced, co-opted by a conservative radio talk show host in Middle America, then how is he going to stand up to the Chinese? How is he going to stand up to Putin? How is he going to stand up to North Korea if he can be pushed around by a yokel like me?”

The judge is hearing oral arguments in the Giles County 10 commandments case beginning today. Try tt put yourself in the judge’s shoes for a moment. First, he has to put aside his personal opinions and rule based on the facts of the case. And his decision is almost certain to be appealed, so the pressure is on him not to make any errors that would render the decision reversible. Glad it’s not me.

And yet Tiger Woods is 1/4 black and is considered to be black.
Putting aside personal opinion and ruling on the merits of a case is exactly what a judge’s job is. I’m sure it’s a difficult one, frequently, but I don’t feel sorry for the guy.

I agree. Personally, as I have written before, I prefer the government to be totally out of the religion business. But what Giles County did n this case may very well pass constitutional muster. That’s what the judge will have to decide. Probably with help from the Supremes.

The government can’t “get out of the religion” business. Our schools have a ban on head coverings UNLESS your religion requires it. Are you proposing that schools remove the religious exemption? I don’t think so.

I’ve never heard of a judge wanting to cut the Ten Commandments down to six before. Seems questionable to me.

I’m opposed to this idea. Simply for the reason that it’s better to just see the work somewhere else than see a bastardized version of it. Mark my words, the absence of four commandments will draw far more attention than all ten anyday. This could apply to anyone’s work. I guess it’s kind of the same reason that I’m not a big fan of movies edited for TV; it cheapens what the director wanted to do. For what it’s worth, you know how I feel about religion, but I’m okay with the commandments being posted in the school so long as there is a secular, reality-based teaching to explain them. Same goes for another religion’s doctrine posted on the wall. Between whatever the kids are taught at home and their own free mind, they can make their own conclusions about the commandments. After all, there are some great values in those commandments not to be overlooked! Of course, we know this is unacceptable to the very people who are crying the loudest about keeping them in the school.

IRS forms show charity’s money isn’t going to disabled vets

Birmingham, Alabama (CNN) — A national charity that vows to help disabled veterans and their families has spent tens of millions on marketing services, all the while doling out massive amounts of candy, hand sanitizer bottles and many other unnecessary items to veteran aid groups, according to a CNN investigation.
The Disabled National Veterans Foundation, based in Washington, D.C., and founded in 2007, received about $55.9 million in donations since it began operations in 2007, according to publicly available IRS 990 forms.

The independent group CharityWatch gave the DVNF an “F” grade. More than 30 veterans charities were rated by the independent group by the amount they spend on fundraising compared to actual donations, and two-thirds were given either a D or F grade, according to CharityWatch president Daniel Borochoff.
“Up to $2 billion is raised in the name of veterans in this country and it’s so sad that a great deal of it’s wasted,” Borochoff said. “Hundreds of millions of dollars of our charitable dollars intended to help veterans is being squandered and wasted by opportunists and by individuals and companies who see it as a profit-making opportunity.”

Look, it’s highly unlikely Obama will lose the election. But on the off chance that he does, people like the “treason” woman will want him pursued and prosecuted after he leaves the White House. To them, it was treason for him to be elected in the first place. And his election tipped the scales on their personal stability and turned them into whack jobs.
Romney should have grown a pair and challenged the woman on her “treason” claim.
Tough Saturday for Obama Only 9000 people showed up to hear him speak at VCU on Saturdau and just over 14000 at Ohio State. This compared to Romney’s huge crowds in Nova and in Portsmouth I think there were 67 handpicked supporters in Northern Va. and about 157 including Gov. Ultrasound and the Cooch and their families (about 8% of the total. That’s some real excitement going on there.
If Mitt Romney had to actually stand up and tell somebody in the audience something that they didn’t want to hear, he’d never be able to get the words out at a volume greater than a mumble.
It will be interesting to see if Mitt Romney can generate the buzz and enthusiasm that Obama does, or that even Sarah Palin did. I just don’t see that happening.
I’d reckon it’s hard to feel much passion for a guy who has stood on just about every side of every major issue, at one time or another. And what about that dog on the roof, anyway?
Mitt Romney has the charisma of a turnip. The only image that he’ll ever be able to communicate is that of the rich guy who hangs out in skyboxes with his billionaire friends and meets them in board rooms where they make decisions about how much more money they can squueze out of the poor suckers that they snooker into voting for them.

Obama’s answer was, we could’t take sentiment into account…then he stuttered a little, threw in a little gobbltygook, said something about end of life treatment, and families and patients soemtimes having to decide that it would be best to take a pain pill rather than have surgery…blah blah blah…then at the end said a sentance that contradicted anything ELSE he said. I didn’t rewatch it but something along the lines of..he didn’t mean he wanted to “take that decsion out of the doctor’s hands”….???? really? When he just told everyone that families and doctors wouldn’t be able to go by “sentiment”..that they would be “talked into” taking a pain pill, rather than a surgery to prolong the life of an older person.
But, you are exact CORRECT..I really SHOULD have shown the longer version, it only more CLEARLY shows how he talks out of both sides of his mouth, along with lying.
