Even some red states are being forced to pull back on the war on women:
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/oklahoma-personhood-proposal-ruled-unconstitutional
“The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled Monday that a proposal that would grant “personhood” rights to human embryos is unconstitutional.
The state’s highest court ruled that a proposed constitutional amendment that would define a fertilized human egg as a person violates a 1992 U.S. Supreme Court decision and “is clearly unconstitutional.” Supporters of the personhood amendment are trying to gather enough signatures to put it before Oklahoma voters on the November ballot.”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/30/texas-planned-parenthood-defunding_n_1465161.html
“A federal court in Texas ruled to stop a new law on Monday that excluded Planned Parenthood from the Texas Women’s Health Program, which serves about 130,000 low-income women in the state. U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel ruled that the law was unconstitutional because it bars eight Planned Parenthood clinics that don’t provide abortions from participating in the program based on their affiliation with legally and financially separate entities that offer abortions.”
The War on Women is not universally popular….even among the captive female audience. Looks like people are waking up.
Now that gas prices are falling, I’m sure all the conservatives on this board, and everywhere – who swore up and down the rising prices were Obama’s fault and his alone – would like to line up to give President Obama a nice big Thank You kiss. Right?
JUST A REMINDER, THE NEW OBUMA CAMPAIGN FILM “THE “DICTATOR” WILL BE
IN YOUR LOCAL THEATRE VERY SOON.
Speaking of a true war on women, (as opposed to this manufactured lie), I see where all the leftwingers in the blog as well as Monkey Boy are eating crow on Arab Spring. Yeah, I remember the libs in here claiming the uprisings in the Middle East last year was democracy taking hold. I laughed at you clowns. I said dragging bodies through streets this isn’t how democracies come about.
Sure enough, Egypt’s leadership has Sharia Law on the front burner now. You know, the system that places women just below the family dog in respect and personal rights?
Thank you Monkey Boy for aiding and abetting the true war on women. You can bet Mitt will bring this up during the debates: “Mr. 0bama. WHAT do you have against women, that you would aid Sharia Law in taking hold in Egypt?”
Bobby Thompson arrested!! Did you nab him, Dan?
They got Bobby Thompson!
Congrats Dan! It looks like the Bobby Thompson crusade is now reaching its conclusion!
Gas prices are down 21 cents at the station I buy my gas at since the last time I bought some.
I know: It’s Obama fault!
scott and others,
I just put up a post about this, which will be updated as we learn more.
I assure you, the crusade is FAR from reaching its conclusion. Many people have many questions for this odious scammer. And some political careers depend on the answers he gives.
- the system that places women just below the family dog in respect and personal rights -
Thats spelled G O P here in the U S A.
You know the rules, Dan — when something bad or negative happens, it’s Obama’s fault. Wen something good or positive happens, Obama either had nothing to do with it or he manipulated information to make it look positive.
Ah yes, more intelligence from religious right wingers down in Texas:
“Bill Nye, the harmless children’s edu-tainer known as “The Science Guy,” managed to offend a select group of adults in Waco, Texas at a presentation, when he suggested that the moon does not emit light, but instead reflects the light of the sun. …
But nothing got people as riled as when he brought up Genesis 1:16, which reads: “God made two great lights — the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.”
The lesser light, he pointed out, is not a light at all, but only a reflector.
At this point, several people in the audience stormed out in fury. One woman yelled “We believe in God!” and left with three children, thus ensuring that people across America would read about the incident and conclude that Waco is as nutty as they’d always suspected.”

Now that gas prices are falling, I’m sure all the conservatives on this board, and everywhere – who swore up and down the rising prices were Obama’s fault and his alone – would like to line up to give President Obama a nice big Thank You kiss. Right?
Sure. Just like y’all did for Bush in 2008.
But I thought this year, it was the Oil Companies’ fault. I guess they decided they didn’t want as much profit these last two weeks.
And some political careers depend on the answers he gives.
You can see why Democrat Patsy Ticer suddenly decided to retire a few months ago. She’s the one who got a nice little $1000 check for crafting Thompson’s bill and seeing it through to passage. That woman has a LOT to answer for.
Not sure I understand the math you guys are playing with here…
I just drove past the gas station here and it’s still much higher than $1.86/gallon. I understand that prices go up on things every year as a matter of economics… but how you guys can say that gas prices are down is beyond me.
Suzie, you won’t get a response about the Arab nations use of Sharia Law, because very soon in our own country we will see Sharia Law in Muslim communities like Deerborn, Michigan.
You can cut your wife’s ears off, because in America we believe in “Tolerance”
The Sheetz by my house dropped from a high of $3.899 to $3.599 yesterday. That’s helpful, but for me even a swing in prices like that barely impacts my cost per mile of driving…less than a penny, thanks to a fuel-efficient vehicle.
I’m feeling proud…a girl I went to school K-12 with and who graduated from West Point with my husband got a star yesterday! Pretty excited for her!
Get over yourself Toots, the “true” war on women is and has been waged by the Catholic Church. ONE WORD from the Pope could alleviate more suffering than all the Sharia Law on earth has given. You know it, just like you know your false equivalencies and relativism on abortion and fighting birth control while judging and condemning poor people and supporting powerful leaders who will oppress them is an affront against Jesus’ teachings. Until you condemn the suffering your Church brings to the world as well as the suffering it chooses not to alleviate, you need to leave Sharia Law alone, hypocrite!
The TP/GOP War on Women is real. From the opposition of the ERA to the fight against the Lily Ledbetter Act, to efforts to reduce women’s access to abortion care, to redefining rape.
From, an effort to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to “accuser” to a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care.
From cutting a billion dollars from food and other aid to low-income pregnant women, mothers, babies, and kids to a bill that would let hospitals allow a woman to die rather than perform an abortion necessary to save her life.
From Maryland Republicans ending county money for a low-income kids’ preschool program to the federal level, Republicans want to cut that same program, Head Start, by $1 billion.
From cutting funding for employment services, meals, and housing for senior citizens to a Republican amendment to cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood health centers, one of the most trusted providers of basic health care and family planning in our country. And here is the insult to the injury, they are fighting to cut aid to women for contraception, but fighting for contraception for wild horses.
From the demand for an non-medically needed ultrasound that the patient has to pay for to the criminality for helping a minor get an abortion without parental consent.
Yes, there is a real and concerted war on women in the TP/GOP. Many still blame women for “taking men’s jobs” and “deserting the family”. They are that simple minded. Only a fool can argue that these efforts do not have an agenda and a punitive reasoning.
Jack, thanks for asking! Let me explain the math to you.
A week ago hi-test was $3.99 a gallon at the BP on Grandin at Guilford.
This morning it was $3.79.
The difference between those two prices is 21 cents.
That is all the math there is.
PP, are you teaching that pap about Sharia law in the U.S. in a classroom?
If anyone wants to have some fun, go to YouTube, search on the phrase (within quotes) “Mitt Romney versus Reality” and then watch the videos that telegraph the race this fall. OMG!
PP,I understand Hitler cut his wife’s ears off.
I saw $3.49 on Brambleton today…gas prices are way down around here. Still not great, but down.
Pistol Pete are you really that naive? Are you aware that in this country, there are religious sects with their own way of living together and “settling things”? Sharia Law cannot supplant judicial rule of law any more than Jweish Halacha has. Do you always just blow it out your useless ears?
“Sharia literally means “path,” and it is a set of interpretations that are dynamic and intended to accommodate the time, place and laws — like the U.S. Constitution — of a particular community. Sharia is interpreted differently based on its surroundings. Sharia mandates Muslims to respect the law of the land in which they live. Many familiar with Islam note that Sharia is similar to Catholic Canon law and Jewish Halacha law.”
http://www.cair.com/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=26919&&mid1=777&&currPage=1
Are you smart enough to connect dots Pistol (we know Suzie is not)? Remember the Rev Martin Niemoller who famously penned: “First they [the Nazis] came for the socialists, and I did not speak out — because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out — because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out — because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.” Do you remember that one? Well what if first they came for the Islamist…Do you think they will just never get to the Christians? Why can you not use the brain God gave you for actual open-minded research. Do you think the husband in Vinton who shot his wife, thought the laws of this country or his religion gave him that right? Or was he acting on his own perverse decisions? But of course an Islamic man would be abiding by Sharia Law if he did the same. You are a sick individual.
Dan. I’m no mathematician, but I’m pretty sure the difference between $3.99 and $3.79 is not .21.
Sandi, why am I not surprised that you would quote CAIR propaganda as “proof” of the benevolent nature of Sharia Law.
Dan, I don’t know about you, but the Grandin gas stations, as a Grandin residnet are habitually $.20-$.30 higher than the lowest Le Kroger and Sheetz in town. Would love to know why that is. Difficult access or low supply/high demand?
Pistol Pete,
I knew you’d take a lot of bashing for the Sharia law comment, but that wouldn’t surprise me if religious extremists, of all different persuasions, make communities doing all sorts of wierd things. It’s happened before. As far as I’m concerned, so long as children aren’t being harmed (that’s debateable in itself) and people are free to leave of their own free will, I don’t care what they do.
Sorry Chuck, it was $3.78.
Dan:
22.”Jack, thanks for asking! Let me explain the math to you.
A week ago hi-test was $3.99 a gallon at the BP on Grandin at Guilford.
This morning it was $3.79.
The difference between those two prices is 21 cents.
That is all the math there is.”
Actually, that’s a $.20 difference. If you’re going to patronize Jack about math, have the math right.
.
JW,
The math was right, but I had a typo in one of the figures. It was $3.78 a week ago.
Facepalm!
Dan:
“Facepalm!”
It happens to all of us…. Thanks for not trying to cover it with “sketchy math”.
Nope Dan, NOT my job to invoke Liberal views like most teachers do. I give both views and allow students to create their own views. Your one sided liberal, lying, blog allows me to express my views and get Sandi’s blood pressure up.
Education, (unlike most Liberal’s thinkings) should be to present ideas, not PUSH them.
Sandi, continue to believe all of the straight biased sources you use, where Women who are raped get punished for adultery under Sharia, or you can decide to see how its going in our neighbors’ backyard..

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17562412
Pistol Pete,
I think the reason Democrats are creating all this fake ‘war on women’ stuff is to divert attention for 0bama being duped by the ‘Arab Spring’ line. 0bama is an accessory to women being treated like livestock.
0bama sent $1.5 billion to the fledgling Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt KNOWING their goal was to make women second-class citizens. How does that make you feel, liberal blog women?
So PP, do you TEACH your students that there’s a danger of US courts enforcing Sharia law in the US?
Because that’s a crock, ginned up by the right-wing lie machine, and if you do, you’re lying. (I’m sure you don’t though).
Just sayin. . .
PP…so you “present” to them that Sharia Law will soon be instituted in Michigan which will allow men to cut their wives’ ears off…and let them make up their minds about whether that’s good or bad?
I’d love to be a fly on the wall in THAT classroom.
PP is close to being as full of it as da suze.
35
Pistol,
You actually give all points of view? Wait until the liberal administrators get wind of that. I hope you don’t teach science. There is no room for the scientific method in science class. You are to arrive at one unproven but sanctioned answer and not waver from it.
#35 So let’s see, you allege this is going on or about to happen in the U.S. and then use a story about it in Britain as proof, PP? Something that has no force of law in Britain? And where is the part about ears being cut off? And then you post another one about a group calling for worldwide Sharia, and this group has all of 100 members and no influence over anybody whatsoever?
Talk about fudging the truth. I sure hope you don’t feed this crap to your students.
And look, suzie is even buying into it. What a dolt.
@Dan Casey: “Jack, thanks for asking! Let me explain the math to you.”
So…
If on Monday item “A” costs $1.00. Then, on Thursday, it costs $2.00, but on Friday it costs $1.90, you’re saying the price went down?
To me, at least, $1.85 seems higher than $1.00.
#36 most ill-informed posted, “to divert attention for 0bama being duped by the ‘Arab Spring’ line.”
Or something like the Afghan women being “duped” by Geo W.Bush when he said he wanted to “save Afghan women from repressive fundamentalism”. How is that working out for Afghan women?
Here’s the results, ten years after GW Bush was going to make life better in Afghanistan…
☻The NY Times calls the death rate for children “stunningly high even for Afghanistan, which already has the world’s third highest infant mortality rate.”
☻More than 10 years after the U.S. war began, by any measure, even those of the occupiers, the U.S. war and occupation has been a dismal failure – failing to liberate women, failing to improve conditions for ordinary Afghans, failing to bring about democracy, failing to stop the killing of civilians, failing to permanently oust the Taliban…
☻According to the UK Guardian, half of all Afghan women in prison–some 400–are there for “moral” crimes – including running away from abusive homes. Others have been imprisoned for the “crime” of sex outside of marriage – after being raped or forced into prostitution. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/dec/01/afghan-woman-freed-marry-rapist
☻A report last fall from Oxfam found that 87 percent of Afghan women reported experiencing physical, psychological or sexual abuse or forced marriages. http://www.rawa.org/temp/runews/2012/04/11/afghanistan-the-quagmire-of-u-s-occupation.html#ixzz1teH3Kg6B
Oh yeah, old George made it better…and as usual you know not of what you speak…ignoramus…
Uptheriver writes: “Dan, I don’t know about you, but the Grandin gas stations, as a Grandin residnet are habitually $.20-$.30 higher than the lowest Le Kroger and Sheetz in town. Would love to know why that is. Difficult access or low supply/high demand?”
I always wondered that also so when I was in there a few months ago having my car checked over, I asked. The owner, Bill Millner, told me the gas that he buys is of a higher quality than the gas they sell at Kroger, Wal-Mart, etc. I don’t actually believe that but have no proof to the contrary. I tend to think that as a small business owner, he needs to make a living and he does that partially by setting his gas prices where he needs to, to make a profit.
Chuck, no doubt you are never surprised by what you think I said. Why is the truth “propaganda” to you?
I did not say, nor did the CAIR link, anywhere, that there was only a “benevolent nature” to Sharia Law. I said it was like any other religious sect’s religious laws and that it was not meant to usurp the government or Constitutional laws of the land. The OT Jewish laws were pretty severe too, luckily Christians like Suzie, Lake Claytor and Pistol Pete just use them to judge and condemn others now instead of actual violence.
In nations with laws, the so called “honor” killings and punishments break the laws of the land and like gun crimes here, they are punished after the fact. In the countries with the most oppressive regimes, they use and misinterpret Sharia like they do the Qur’an to justify their heinous acts. And there is nothing that will change their minds…you and they have that in common.
Suzie writes: “0bama sent $1.5 billion to the fledgling Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt KNOWING their goal was to make women second-class citizens. How does that make you feel, liberal blog women?”
And you don’t think women are 2nd class citizens in THIS country?
Anyone who isn’t white, male, and over the age of 40 is a 2nd class citizen right here in the good ole U.S. of A.
But you don’t mind that Suzie because you strike me as the type that holds on to the belief that a wife should walk 2 steps behind her husband.
#35 You are a prime example of why I had to re-learn history all over again. I was never told about labor history (Hay market Strike) and so on, it was never taught in the classroom. This is the way the system is and one is not to go outside those lines.
I remember getting in trouble in class because I blew up a photo of a cop beating up this black dude. I did a report on it and was told by the teacher to go back to Russia. Yea, free county as long as you agree.
Suzie #36, it makes me feel like you are are not well informed. But that is just me. I am sure others will be more charitable. Doubtless your man Willard would have just put them onto a good deal on Wall Street insider info and all would be right with the world. I feel so sorry for any brain cell locked inside your mind. It has to be like a poor hamster on the wheel, day after day after day. Remember back when Bush 1 left a fledgling uprising that might have changed the face of Iraq to be slaughtered. I am sure you would prefer that kind of outcome, but I appreciate that the nation is not yet run by limited low effort thinkers like you.
Some FACTS on Sharia Law:
Sharia developed several hundred years after the Prophet Mohammed’s death in 632 CE as the Islamic empire expanded. Sharia guides all aspects of Muslim life including daily routines, familial and religious obligations, and financial dealings. It is derived primarily from the Quran and the Sunna–the sayings, practices, and teachings of the Prophet Mohammed. http://www.cfr.org/religion/islam-governing-under-sharia/p8034
Marriage and divorce are the most significant aspects of sharia; ISLAMIC LAW PROHIBITS SPOUSAL ABUSE, INCLUDING NON-CONSENSUAL SEXUAL RELATIONS. http://www.salon.com/2011/02/26/sharia_the_real_story/
Does domestic violence occur in Muslim homes? Of course, does rape happen in Islamic countries? Of course, but doesn’t one of The Ten Commandments prohibit killing or adultery or stealing? Lots of that going on in our “Christian” nation…
In Muslim countries where Islam is the official religion listed in the constitution, sharia is declared to be a source, or the source, of the laws. Examples include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen, the United Arab Emirates – the governments derive their legitimacy from Islam. http://www.cfr.org/religion/islam-governing-under-sharia/p8034
Not unlike here in the US where Republicans, Catholics, fundamental Christians etc, believe and describe the American legal system and Constitution as having a Judeo-Christian heritage.
Does that mean that we will stone adulterers as required in the Bible? Or kill disrespectful children as proscribed in the Old Testament?
Picking and choosing to diminish another’s religious tenets is hypocrisy. Pretending that Sharia Law will take over the codified laws in the US is teabagger-speak – lunacy and ludicrous.
I am not believing you for a second Pistol Pete. I do not believe you are intellectually capable of “giving both sides”. Too bad we have no way to verify that, but I am willing to bet the opposite is true.
For anyone equally uninformed, and this is in America, BTW:
“Orthodox Jews use a similar system of arbitration to settle disputes between Orthodox Jews. The Jewish courts apply Jewish law and are held as binding by American courts. The Jewish courts are called Beis Din and their decisions are accepted as binding arbitration by the legal system.”
http://finkorswim.com/2011/03/24/judge-upholds-the-law-fox-news-goes-insane/
And in case you really think it is unheard of for religious leaders to settle disputes:
“Canon law is the legal system of the Catholic Church and is the oldest functioning legal system in the Western world.”
http://www.canonlaw.info/a_canonlawyersarearent.htm
Republicans use activist judge to continue their War on Women.
Idiot Boy is now grandstanding in Afghanistan on the anniversary of the Bush team capturing OBL. Trust me. Real military people are furious over this. They know the SOB did everything in his power to undermine them. Now he’s acting like it’s all him. Now I’m not talking about the liberal fake screen berets on the blog. I’m talking REAL military people.
From Daily Beast, Republicans, the party of whiners.
BLOOD TEST COULD DETECT BREAST CANCER RISK
Researchers discover association between risk of the disease and a molecular change in a particular white blood cell gene
The possibility of developing a simple blood test to help identify women most at risk from breast cancer has been raised after researchers discovered a strong association between risk of the disease and a molecular change in a particular white blood cell gene.
Women showing the highest methylation levels affecting the ATM gene were twice as likely to develop breast cancer as those with the lowest levels.
On average, the blood tests were carried out three years before diagnosis. In some cases they pre-dated the discovery of breast cancer by up to 11 years.
The results were especially clear in blood samples from women under the age of 60.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2012/apr/30/blood-test-breast-cancer-risk
billhudson, where did you go to school?
Yeah, these guys seem like peaceful protestors who aren’t causing any harm. Yet the police are the bad guys for arresting them.
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/occupy-may-day-mostly-quiet-160849836.html
“Overall, there were a modest number of arrests and clashes in a handful of cities.”
Wow….real barn burner there, Chuck.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/01/richard-grenell-resigns-mitt-romney-campaign_n_1468613.html
Wake up Grennell and come over to a party that doesn’t wallow around in filthy sex-fixated bigotry.
Republican gays are self-hating gays. Romney and his nasty ignorant bile-filled “base” (appropriate in the case of the GOP) deserve to go down in flames. As they will.
#59 Also from your link, Chuck.
“Many of the demonstrators reported splinter groups dressed mostly in black who turned demonstrations violent.”
IOW, not OWSers.
#60 Imagine that, right-wing bigots drove the guy out.
Oh Suzie, I so know what you mean: “grandstanding” The very idea. I mean no other President has ever done such a thing. No, of course not, certainly not the “Mission Accomplished” dude in the flight suit in 2003 running for re-election!
I hate to burn your devotion to the “REAL military” (the ones you and Cheney create in your minds) but it appears you all do not understand the distinction in anything that does not hit like a “mushroom cloud”. Candidate Obama said, BEFORE he was elected in 2007: “If we have Osama bin Laden in our sights and the Pakistani government is unable or unwilling to take them out, then I think that we have to act and we will take them out. We will kill bin Laden; we will crush al-Qaeda. That has to be our biggest national security priority.” And Willard Romney, also a candidate, said: “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth, spending billions of dollars just to capture one person.” He said the country would see “a very insignificant increase in safety” because another terrorist would rise to power.” Bush even joked about not being bothered with looking for him.
President Obama kept that promise, with the known proviso of what people like you would do with it if the plan failed. That did take courage. Would Willard Romney have changed his mind? Now he wants to be President again, yes, it is a fair question. And frankly, given the treatment of John Kerry, we all know it would be a question you yourself would be asking, loudly and with all the bile you can muster, if the shoe was on the other foot.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-soltz/obama-right-gop-horribly_b_1468210.html?ref=elections-2012
At least President Obama earned the right to “grandstand”.
““Many of the demonstrators reported splinter groups dressed mostly in black who turned demonstrations violent.””
Anyone not see this coming? False-flag courtesy of the 1%
It’s amazing. If Sarah Palin uses the word “target” as in targeting congressmen for defeat, the MSM makes it “hate speech”, but if OWS dirtbags cause injury and massive destruction, placing law-enforcement life it barely even makes the news.
Can anybody imagine the MSM treatment if the parties were reversed? Especially in an election year? What if a the Tea Party tore up a city and shut down ports? That would be trumpeted for days on end as the lead story. It would be the worst thing to ever happen in this country. TPers would be called “terrorists”. Romney would be asked to denounce them. Has any MSM reporter ever asked Monkey Boy to denounce the violence and mayhem caused by the OWS fleabags? HELL NO.
That was a nice rundown of the May Day occuoy troubles today Chuck…except it sort of downplayed the connections of the bombers to the Occupy Cleveland movement. I think perhaps HP explains it a little better…I said HP reported everything, but I also notice that this story didn’t stay up on the news pages for long though…what was the lead story a few hours ago has disappeared from the pages altogether tonight..I guess that is their way of trying to be appear balanced without truly giving up their leftist leanings….
ANYWAY: I found it, here’s the story:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/01/cleveland-bomb-plot_n_1467431.html
Like Suzie, I am also wondering why the “Occupy movement can just distance themselves from these guys NOW, and all the rest of the left wing media just call them anarchists, like that are allwoing a group who said that today was a day to crate havoc, to just say..oh we didn’t mean THAT kind of havoc and get away with it…no mention of “Occupy Cleveland affiliation.
But remember back when the Tea Party was tied to anything and everything that happened bad in politics, Gabriel Giffords shooting, the guy who crashed his plane into the IRS building in Texas, the killing of the abortion doctor, even after it was SHOWN that the perpetrators had no affiliation with the Tea Party in any way whatsoever…we were still blamed and held responsible.
Funny, that.
I know it’s late and typos tell me I should stop but..ONE more thing..I’m just wondering if the person above who said that Muslims promote respect for their women, and those who don’t are not follwing the “teachings of Islam”..is aware of THIS law that the newly elected Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is proposing, and that the Egyptian women are up in arms about….and if you can’t agree that THIS actually SHOWS how much “respect” Muslim women are given, regardless of what the propoganda that they are trying to get us to believe SAYS…
http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/04/25/210198.html
Romney’s “baptising dead people” REALLY PALES in comparisn to THIS!
“Funny, that.”
You really don’t have a clue, do you?
Speaking of bad days for Republicans, loved the look of despair on Bob Goodlatte’s face at Lucas headquarters tonight as the election results were announced. Photo-op gone sour.

Funny, that.
Yep Sharon. State-controlled media is the biggest menace to a free society. This is TASS all over again. There is a strong link between these organized bused-in leftards and 0bama. At the minimum he should be forced to denounce them. Romney should make some pretty good hay over this. Given his aggressiveness in the primaries, I don’t think he’ll be timid about doing so. But he should be doing it NOW. “Mr. President, will you denounce this destruction by your supporters?”
SharonN, at this point a Muslim has as much chance of winning as a Mormon does. Unlike you, I don’t consider that a credit to the country.
From your own link Sharon N: “The men had been associated with the anti-corporate Occupy Cleveland movement but don’t share its non-violent views, organizer Debbie Kline said.
“They were in no way representing or acting on behalf of Occupy Cleveland,”
I do not know who you are referring to in your “the person above who said” because I can find no person who said it, but be that as it may, I already said: In nations with laws, the so called “honor” killings and punishments break the laws of the land and like gun crimes here, they are punished after the fact. In the countries with the most oppressive regimes, they use and misinterpret Sharia like they do the Qur’an to justify their heinous acts. And there is nothing that will change their minds…you and they have that in common too.
Willard Romney, the Wall Street Corporate Raider, DOES baptize dead people and until a radical Muslim is running against him in this country, that is still the most offensive thing a politician has done voluntarily according to his religious precepts.
For those less enlightened who only skim the news, Occupy Wall Street is about holding corporations and politicians responsible. It is not about anarchy, violence and destruction. The pent up anger from the down and out and ignorant in this nation is looking for a place to act out and I am sorry that the OWS movement seems to be an outlet for some, because there are few active anarchist protesters, but for people like you, who refuse to hold the complicit Catholic Church responsible for its crimes, The TP/GOP responsible for its legislation against women, protection of wealth and corporate malfeasance, and the continuing inequities that create a lot of the anarchist sentiment, I find it telling that you are so willing to indict OWS. Not surprising, but telling indeed. The truth remains that if given enough rope, a conservative right winger and an anarchist will always hang themselves.
World gone crazy.
#54 :I’m talking REAL military people.”
Let’s count the hours suzie and hubby have spent serving our country in the military and then put them up against folks like Steve C.
#67 Sharon N posted, “… are not follwing the “teachings of Islam”..is aware of THIS law that the newly elected Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is proposing…”
Well of course suppression of women’s rights is onerous – from whether they can get an education, participate in the political arena or have control over their own bodies. However, why are you not speaking up about the oppression of women in the US by republicans and religious fanatics? Republicans view women as needing direct government interference in their private lives – assuming women are too dumb to decide on their own:
√ Multiple votes to shut down Planned Parenthood, by Republican-led state legislatures around the country – to end public financing for Planned Parenthood, a low cost source for reproductive health care and information.
√ Women would be forced to bear the child of the rapist – that fertilized eggs need to be given the exact same rights as a born, grown human, Personhood <http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/blog/2011/06/02/what-aboutconceived-rape-tour?quicktabs_popular=2
√ The Blunt amendment = That allows so called “religious freedom” to deny coverage for birth control; which also under the guise of "religious freedom" denies coverage for cervical cancer, caused by HPV, and transmitted sexually;
√ Forced transvaginal ultrasounds;
√ Republican state legislatures pass 1100 acts restricting women's access to health care since 2010;
√ Republican state legislatures in 15 states put "personhood" Bills on the agenda that would make abortion illegal even in cases of incest or rape and the AZ bill which makes pre-menstrual ovaries "persons" needing protection…;
√ Republicans have introduced legislation to make hormonal birth control illegal;
http://www.guttmacher.org/statecenter/updates/index.html
√ The defeat of the Paycheck Fairness Act H.R.1519, which provides more effective remedies to victims of discrimination in the payment of wages on the basis of sex, and for other purposes.
√ Republicans introduced a bill that would cut $832 million from a program that provides food assistance to low-income mothers and children. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=13669786#.T6E_IVLzYs4
I could write dozens more of the American “Taliban’s” control through legislation and defunding of women’s issues…How are these any different from the Muslim restrictions on women’s access to services?
Where do you come down on issues concerning women’s health, women’s opportunities in the workforce, and a women’s right to choose to use birth control, or not. This is about direct government interference in our most private lives …to choose our own destinies.
I hope you don’t fall on the side of the hypocrites – worried about the women of “the Arab Spring” and blind to what is going on here in the US’ s war on women; or worried about starvation in Africa while demeaning, minimizing or ignoring the poor in America. Do you stand up for ALL women or not? Are you a hypocrite or not?
Don’t give us this “splinter-group anarchist” crap. 0bama’s refusal to denounce these thugs for their destruction and violence speaks very loudly about his collusion with him. The MSM’s silence on this collusion speaks very loudly of THEIR involvement. It’s ALL the same sordid bunch of leftwing radicals acting as one. You’re an idiot if you don’t see the connection.
Let’s count the hours suzie and hubby have spent serving our country in the military and then put them up against folks like Steve C.
Yes, I remember Steve C.’s tale. He said he was aboard that aircraft carrier when the Lebanon bombing took place, and Reagan’s non-response made him SO angry he vowed never to vote GOP again. (Never mind he voted for the cowardly Clinton and 0bama afterward). The only problem with the story was Steve wasn’t deployed at that time. He was probably loading furniture for Grand Piano.
#78 “Let’s count the hours suzie and hubby have spent serving our country in the military…”
Crickets.
And I remember Dan telling us he had proof Steve served in the military.
#15 Dan, I went to 3 different high schools in 3 different states. One in Ct., Eastern Jr. High, one in Wisconsin, St. Francis Brothers School, one in N.J.,St. Francis Prep.
When this happened it was 1967-68 I was in Wisconsin. The funny thing was the mid-western Capuchins were far more progressive then the East coast Capuchins. But any who, word got around of where I stood at the time.
Dan, you need to get a grip, there cannot be 2 Suzie idiots to lie and torment. And what are the odds they are not the same person? Whose blog is this? I have had it with “her” and with you. You are welcome to each other.
billhudson,
No question, the East Coast Capuchins are quite conservative. I attended many a mass at now (and long) defunct St. Conrad’s Friary outside of Annapolis. It was right down the street from the house I grew up in.
Ah I see, we had a place in Woodstock, Va. They still might be there. But going from the mid-west to the east coast was light day and night. The province I went to, they were mostly Italians. They would always say, “we made it through the dark ages and we’re get through this”.(1960′s).
The mid westerns were more open minded and gave us enough rope to hang our self, which at times we did push it a bit.
The east coast was more like, this is what you are going to eat, what you are going to learn, and where you are going. Your life ran by bells and I think it took me about two years to adapt to the outside life with no bells.
St. Conrad’s I think was the NY Province.
Since poster #78 claims such knowledge of other’s military service, what does the poster think about how Pres. Reagan left U.S. Marine and Roanoke Valley native Steve Hammond, along with several hundred of his fellow Marines, sitting in a Lebanon barracks in 1983, without any engagement guidelines, to serve as cosmetic props in lieu of an actual policy, resulting in the deaths of nearly 300, including 241 American servicemen?
Sandi, I could care less what you believe because I have students and parents who love me from all different walks of life. These kids don’t need the garbage spilled on here by the needy liberals nor do they need to hear GOP rhetoric or propaganda.
So stoop so low Sandi and call someone a liar, but the greatest thing I give to these kids is love (ever heard of that?) and a drive to be successful and make their life better FOR THEMSELVES. (This does not including encouragement of being a career OWS’r)
The lies that are spilled on here Sandi are mostly your skewed version of Christianity. Everytime you ramble on here, the verses that comes to my mind are Matthew 7:21-23
PP, are you saying that the fear that Sharia law will become a reality in U.S. courts is GOP rhetoric or propaganda?
It surely is right-wing garbage.
No Dan, Talkin to Sandi here about my job. Nothing to do with Sharia Law.. I dont take too kindly when my integrity is questioned.
Im saying teachers can spill liberal garbage and Concervative messages to influence their students and that is wrong! Not an educators job. You tell students what each party believes and let them make up their own mind.
#85 I just love it when some thinks someone else has a skewed version of Christianity and they have the “real religion” while the rest of us are lost. I always like to tell folks in order to be saved one must be lost first.
PP , I agree the kids don’t need RW garbage. So stop slinging it at them like monkeys tossing around their own poop.
PP,
And if one side believes the Earth is flat, and the other side believes the Earth is round, you merely tell those children both sides and let them make up their minds, right? Because there is no truth, only opinion, right?
Do you grant the same latitude to the idiots who claim 2+2 = 5?
Earth’s curvature is settled science. MMGW is far from settled, and gaining more opponents as time passes. The scientific method says you keep an open mind and re-form your view as new evidence comes in. Liberals don’t believe in that.
I tell my kids that (fill in the appropriate republican name) might or might not be the anti Christ sent to bring about the downfall of the country, and the planet. Clearing away for the aliens to return and reestablish control over the surviving population who will serve as their slaves.
Or not. I give them both sides and let them make up their minds. Who am I to decide for them?
#91 “The scientific method says you keep an open mind and re-form your view as new evidence comes in.”
Something you might want to try.
So Pistol Pete, I asked this of you on another thread awhile back – you didn’t answer – so I will ask the question again.
Do you believe the schools should teach in science classes, creationism, evolution, or both?
Hil, both would be awesome but we don’t,
For the ObamaOberBillMaherNITES on here whose brain goes far LEFT they can’t comprehend common sense (Kristen for one). Here is how political issues are taught
Right/Repubs/Conserv – Abortion is wrong, taxes low, Christians-business owners-farmers, Constitution is an ORIGINAL document
Left/Dem/Libs/Obamadrones – Abortion is ok especially in cases of rape or insest-womans right to choose, ok to raise taxes sometimes for budgets and programs, Union workers-AfricanAmericans-Professors/Teachers, Constitution is a LIVING document
It sounds like PP wants to return to the good old days of an agrarian society. Last time we had that, some people OWNED others (it’s in the Bible, after alll) few children were educated past the 6th grade, and women couldn’t vote or work outside the home unless they were schoolteachers, nurses or nuns.
“You tell students what each party believes and let them make up their own mind.”
Hope that’s your policy, but it is mine. Same for my own kids. But if you just make stuff up about parties as clearly defined in post 95, I’d be inclined to believe you wouldn’t know what to tell’m about what every party believes.
So PP
How about the Democrats who are Christians, own businesses, are caucasian,
run farms , believe govt. has a responsibility to regulate business and take care of those who can’t take care of themselves as is espoused in Christian doctrine.
Or the Republicans (and there bare some) who believe in the woman’s right to choose and who belive that government subsidies are fine as long as they go to big business and not to ‘people” and who belong to groups like “Log Cabin republicans” or happen to be Jewish.
If you taech it the way you propose, I would have problems with the way you are indoctrinating your students.
PP clearly isn’t a guy gifted with much in the way of nuanced thinking. And I have to wonder what grade he’s teaching that makes defining Republican and Democrat so vital. Especially with that list of cliches.
