What short memories those Obama critics have
Do you think the Republicans would be politicizing the 2011 raid on Osama bin Laden right now if that had been a failure? Ha, ha, you’re darn right they would be politicizing it. And the failure would be ALL President Barack Obama’s fault, rather that Seal Team 6′s.
But the fact that it was a success means the Navy Seals deserve all of the credit. The President deserves none, they say. And if he mentions the greatest military success of his administration, in the context of his campaign for re-election, he is damned for it.
Funny, because it used to be patriotic to use the “war on terror” for political capital. And it still is but only when the GOP does it. Let a Democrat try it and Republicans fall all over themselves with indignation. As the video below from Talking Points Memo so aptly points out.

No hypocrisy there! “Mission Accomplished.”
Hey, all you Republicans whining about the Obama ad that ever-so-gently asked if Romney would have made the call on the Bin Laden raid? Suck it! Bush was not able to do it, but he still bragged long and loud about how he toppled Saddam Hussein. Remember that jet landing on the aircraft carrier and the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner? Yeah. How many more Americans’ spilled blood and treasure in Iraq AFTER that little stunt? Talk out of both sides of your mouth much? Yeah, spare me.
Can we spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E?
What, nobody works at the RT on Sunday? No mention of last night’s wreck in Boones Mill? Condolences to the families of those lost.
If president Obama was a Republican all the Republicans would be praising him to the sky. They have whined and complained for about four years and have four more to go. I use to vote a straight Republican ticket but after I heard people like Fox news try to blame all the problems on Obama I quit voting Republican. They forget so soon about George W. Bush and what his war cost the economy.
Hey, all you Republicans whining about the Obama ad that ever-so-gently asked if Romney would have made the call on the Bin Laden raid?
Monkey Boy acting like he had guts is the biggest joke going. He tried to undermine and defeat the special forces at every turn. From trying to ban their interrogation procedures which provided the very info needed for the capture, to voting to cut funding as a Senator, to cutting funding for Seal Team 6, to trying to close Guantanemo Bay where the necessary information was gleaned.
All this bastard did get in front of the train after he tried and failed to stop it. Every military guy I talk to is FURIOUS at this Communist trying to take credit.
If president Obama was a Republican all the Republicans would be praising him to the sky.
Ask Lugar and Hatch what happens to Republicans who go liberal. Don is another fake sent here to pose as a disgruntled former Republican. Perhaps a DNC plant.
But Suzie thinks it’s perfectly fair to give the credit for bin Laden’s death to GW Bush.
THAT’S the biggest joke!
Obama invaded a foreign country and killed someone using the US military. I think it is great but if Bush had done it, the liberals would be calling for him to be called into The Hague for it. Honestly I think it is better that Obama did it than Bush. I think liberals would look the other way for Zero The War Hero.
Good for him.
“Obama invaded a foreign country and killed someone using the US military. I think it is great but if Bush had done it, the liberals would be calling for him to be called into The Hague for it.”
Ha, ha. That is so funny. Bush approved waterboarding, which is torture, and the mainstream liberals screamed about that but didn’t call for him to go on trial in the Hague (a few far-off-the-charts lefties might have).
If Bush had managed to kill Obama the same way, the libs would have cheered. They would NOT have said Bush deserved no credit, they WOULD NOT have said Seal Team 6 deserved all of it, and they would NOT have credited Bill Clinton.
The conservatives did all of that after they got bin Laden.
Ooh, the thinly veiled racism comes out. Obama “Monkey Boy”?? Suzie for shame.
Besides everybody knows Dubya was the Chimp.
Bush couldn’t have found his butt with both hands. Obama gets the credit along with the Seals who executed Obamas orders. Bush isn’t even in the equation.
And it’s KILLING the right.
Oh, and no information on the whereabouts of Osama was gleaned from the torture procedures at Guantanamo. It came from a tip Obama received in August. Source: Fox News
Suzie, see there’s another EX-Republican giving up on them because of the wack jobs that have taken control. Believe me, there LOTS of us out there and the proof will come too light in November! Not all will vote for Obama but they sure won’t support the craziness of the current Republican party.
Keep making up stuff, keep spouting wild accusations, keep making racist remarks and you’ll drive a few more away.
Dan,
Do you have an idea of the total number of posts for Suzie to date? Her bile is spewed on so many different threads that it’s hard to keep up. I’m paying bills and writing checks this PM and thought I could go ahead and send some $$ on to those deserving organizations – Obama’s re-election campaign and the Leadership for Women’s Religious. I sure don’t want to shortchange them. And in case Suzie doesn’t think that money actually gets sent – I’ll make a copy of the checks and send it to you.
Her latest post of “Monkey Boy”, “bastard” and “Communist” is inspiring my generosity.

That was a sovereign country 0bama invaded, wasn’t it, Henry? I remember hearing in 2003 that was a real bad thing to do.
Besides everybody knows Dubya was the Chimp
Really, Larr? I guess that makes you a racist, then. Going to burn some crosses tonight?
No I think it is great that Obama used the US military to kill someone in a foreign country. We need to do a lot more of this kind of thing. The US needs to quit respecting borders and start respecting our safety.
I wouldn’t mind if Obama blew up Iran. I’m sure everyone here agrees.
#6 suzie, your schtick on this one isn’t working. We all know you’re full of BS. Even most other right wingers on here disagree.
Blacksburg Suz,
There’s a simple explanation for suz’s verbal diarrhea; it’s pretty obvious that suz is abrasive but could you even imagine what it must be like to live with her? Apparently neither can suz’s hubby, which is why after having to listen to her neck puke for a couple of weeks he retreats to the sanctuary of the “fishing lodge” with the boys and a bottle Wild Turkey for a little mental health break. The closer we get to November and the realization that President Obama will be reelected the more predictably unstable suz will get, thus straining what few interpersonal relationships she still has. At this point suz will start reporting on various make believe tea parties she’ll be partake in, like having coffee with the movers and shakers of the valley and jetting off to far away cities for the day. Consequently, suz won’t have anyone to talk to and thus comes here to pester us insistently. it’s a viscous circle; suz gets even more unwound, hubby beats it for the lake, and suz gets even more desperate for attention. By September she’ll be absolutely apoplectic. She’ll probably have either a brain aneurism or a mental break down by October so things should chill out after a bit. There’s also a chance suz will occasionally be MIA for up to a week at a time. A careful analysis of this pattern shows that this period of relative tranquility typically occurs at the end of a month and always ends by the 3rd , an ironic occurrence that also matches the monthly electronic direct deposit of social security payments and the same-day reconnection of Cox cable when accounts are finally made current.
If you’ve ever wondered what effect Mad Cow disease has on a humans mental acuity, stay tuned and behold what suz has in store for us. Should be good times. Anywho, if the ol’ gal makes it through all this we’re hoping that when Obamacare finally gets fully enacted maybe we can get her the mental health care that she is so obviously crying out for.
Id say we have a well established precedent here for traveling to foreign countries and killing people. This episode was just one of our more noteworthy endeavors.
Thanks Steve C.,
Your explanation makes sense. I was just attributing her excretions to a failure to refill those prescriptions. But – silly me – the Vet School is closed on the weekend.
thus straining what few interpersonal relationships she still has
The person saying this, mind you, who has never had a long term relationship, and who has never held a stable job.
Everyone gets lucky. So he accomplished one of the things he said he would do in his campaign in 2008, that leaves what, over 9000 other things he said he would do that he hasn’t? Sorry but to give Obama a second vote would make me no better than everything I said of people who voted for Bush twice. I will not make the mistake again. I will be voting for Rocky Anderson in November.
#18 “I wouldn’t mind if Obama blew up Iran…”
Now, let’s see, going in to kill one specific person who was responsible for killing thousands of Americans or randomly killing scads of innocent people.
Yeah, Henry, that’s the same thing all right.
Not hard to tell you’re a Freeper.
#23 Blacksburg Suz already knows about your frequent lying and trolling suzie. You aren’t fooling her.
Having read and listened to a great deal about Bin Laden’s death, it was quite clear to me that though W did pursue him after 9/11, he never committed the manpower to finish the deal. Bin laden was pinned down and was actually injured in Tora Bora but we had limited forces there and essentially entrusted his capture to the Afghans and a relatively small contingent of U.S. Forces. He escaped. The fiasco known as the War in Iraq allowed the mass murderer time to relocate to various hiding spots in Afghanistan and eventually Pakistan. By the time Obama was elected Bin Laden’s trail had gone cold. One of Obama’s earliest directives to the CIA was for them to refocus their efforts to track him down. True, some of the work the CIA did under W laid some of the groundwork for his capture but obviously that was insufficient. Clearly it was under Obama’s orders that we refocused our time, money and priorities to find bin Laden that led the Seals to him. In fact it was Obama who specifically chose to use the Seals as opposed to our other elite forces. He had been impressed in 2009 by their efficiency in killing the Somali pirates who had captured the American Captain of a cargo ship. Left with not very indisputable evidence that Bin Laden was actually in hiding in Abbotabad, it was Obama’s decision to proceed with the raid and it was his decision to use the Seals as opposed to drones or bombs. The Seals rightfully deserve praise for a job well done. They earned their reputation which is one reason why the President elected to use them. They did their job and so did the President and I am proud of them both.
“I will be voting for Rocky Anderson in November.”
Mitt Romney and the Neocons appreciate it.
“Bush couldn’t have found his butt with both hands.”
He was too busy kissing Cheney’s.

Zero the War Hero is killing people in Pakistan and Yemen using our military. All those anti-war libs have to take it and like it. They are quiet little little lambs now. Ooops, there goes another terrorist. All that anti-war stuff has been proven to have been just Democrat politics. When Obama got in office, poof, it disappeared.
Unfortunately in Afghanistan, we have lost double the number of troops under Obama than we did under Bush and Bush was in for 6 1/2 years vs 3 1/2 for Obama.

“All that anti-war stuff has been proven to have been just Democrat politics. When Obama got in office, poof, it disappeared.”
Comment by Henry.
What Henry has written is such BS. The left wants out of Afghanistan. They are angry at Obama for not getting out, and in fact putting more troops there. Still, they will vote for him later this year, because the crew surrounding the only possible alternative wants to start ANOTHER war with Iran. Like Henry does.
#31 Henry, would you please try to tell the truth every now and then? Every liberal I know wants the hell out of Afghanistan. Every liberal on this blog has expressed disgust with Obama for not getting out more quickly.
And it’s not just short memories that the critics have. Once again the Koch Brothers are spending millions on an ad that that earns the Pants on Fire award. The big question is, If Obama is such a bad president and has done so many things wrong, why do right wingers resort to telling so many lies?
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/may/02/americans-prosperity/ad-says-stimulus-tax-credits-funded-solar-company-/
The anti-war folks are quiet as lambs. There are no editorials against the war and no protests like we had under Bush. Code Pink can’t disrupt hearings with the Secretary of State or shout at speeches by the President. Face it, if you aren’t allowed to criticize the President, there is no point making a sound.
#31 – Liberals are always going to be against losing American lives on foreign soil.
Obama actually had the fortitude to devote the necessary resources to Afghanistan. (Something that if a conservative president, even Obama had he an (R) behind his name, had done and been successful, fellow conservatives would have him hoisted upon their shoulders) Bush realized the trail on bin Laden had gone cold and needed to “wag the dog” to distract the people. Hence, the invasion of Iraq. It’s that simple.
He wanted to finish the job his daddy couldn’t. Anyone who believes otherwise needs to study the psychological dynamic between fathers and sons in Texas. Doing things bigger and better is part of the culture there.
What the conservatives seem to be unable to comprehend and/or acknowledge is that when it comes using the military of this nation, Obama has been more of a Republican than anyone since Reagan.
The overt bigotry and outright hatred on the right is why I’ve abandoned the conservative cause, at least politically. I will no longer cast any vote for a candidate who chases their own tail.
“Liberals are always going to be against losing American lives on foreign soil.”
Silence implies approval.

Well put, sir.
In case anyone is REALLY interested in what Conservatives are saying are saying….check THIS out…especialy the video:
http://dailycaller.com/2012/05/03/veterans-group-to-obama-heroes-don%E2%80%99t-spike-the-football-video/
IF that is not enough…find me another speech by any OTHER President who said THEY accomplished any military victory. Every OTHER President has praised the TROOPS..not themselves.
We are not comparing “getting” Osama and “getting” Sadam….we are comparing WHO has thought that the Country should thank HIM personally, rather than thanking the Heroes who put their lives on the line.
When you add to that…for him to make the stupid statement that his opponent would NOT have done the same….well, that is “politizing”.
and…by the way, it is not only “Conservatives” or “Republicans” who have condemned that…please get informed before you spout.
Has Obama openly stated that the country should thank him personally, rather than the troops? That is some strong, deliberate wording and I must have missed the speech where he dropped that bombshell. Please source this. I’ve seen fuzzy inferences to this assertion from the opposition, but no actual evidence that this is what he thinks and believes.
That would indeed be news the Republican party would be scrambling to trumpet from the mountaintops.
Leon Panetta confirms waterboarding aided in finding OBL.
http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2011/05/04/what_panetta_said_about_waterboarding.html
Waterboarding, the way the CIA did it…does NOT meet the LEGAL definition of torture. TORTURE is a legal term. Conduct and behavior must meet certain standards to be torture. Waterboarding, the CIA way, doesn’t meet all of those. Is terribly unpleasent? Yep. Forget the waterboarding, I can’t believe they made them drink Ensure! Those savages!!
Leon Panetta confirmed no such thing, Phil. Read it again.
Phil Chitwood can’t even read and comprehend his own damn links. We used to get the same from old Al who used to hang out here. two thirds of his links said exactly the opposite of what he thought they said, usually because he only read the first five lines.
“Waterboarding, the way the CIA did it…does NOT meet the LEGAL definition of torture.”
Thanks for the heads-up, Torquemada.
42 Phil,
Waterboarding, Gitmo, invasion of a sovereign country to impose our will….it’s all good now. Haven’t you heard?
Well, let’s compare George Bush’s speech after we got Sadam to Obama’s after we got Osama and compare the “I” dids. Shall we?
GW Bush:
The success of yesterday’s mission is a tribute to our men and women now serving in Iraq. The operation was based on the superb work of intelligence analysts who found the dictator’s footprints in a vast country. The operation was carried out with skill and precision by a brave fighting force. Our servicemen and women and our coalition allies have faced many dangers in the hunt for members of the fallen regime, and in their effort to bring hope and freedom to the Iraqi people. Their work continues, and so do the risks. Today, on behalf of the nation, I thank the members of our Armed Forces and I congratulate ‘em. …
We’ve come to this moment through patience and resolve and focused action. And that is our strategy moving forward. The war on terror is a different kind of war, waged capture by capture, cell by cell, and victory by victory. Our security is assured by our perseverance and by our sure belief in the success of liberty. And the United States of America will not relent until this war is won.
George W. Bush, address to the nation after the capture of Saddam Hussein, 14 December 2003
GW said…I thank and I congratulate….zero, “I” dids.
Obama:
I can’t remember ALL the I did’s..you can refer back to the video….
I met with…, we discussed, I gave the order…..etc, etc..as usual “it’s all about HIM”….and you let him get away with that.
OH, FYI…I know that you all are ignoring it, but MANY voters are not.
Carry On pResident Obama.
“OH, FYI…I know that you all are ignoring it, but MANY voters are not.
Carry On pResident Obama.”
Sharon, I don’t want that lousy excuse for a president to be reelected either, but I live in the real world and realize that he probably will be. Who do you HONESTLY believe will win?
Sharon N.: I also compared the transcripts of the two speeches. I saw where Bush, for the most part, didn’t mention what part he’d played (which was essentially intangible anyway) versus Obama (admittedly, with egotism) detailing what his part was in a very tangible victory for the so-called “war on terror”. In that regard, I agree that Obama was much more personally prideful than Bush. I can’t really fault Obama for his pride, though I don’t believe it serves his best interests. You know as well as I that Bush would have beamed brightly with plenty of arrogance if he were able to accomplish the same thing. The simple fact is that he wasn’t.
And really, unless you can demonstrate where Obama’s pride regarding this has undermined our democracy, does this issue really even matter? If the conservative ticket is grasping at this non-issue already, the absolute desperation they show come October will be unbearable. It will also be their undoing.
Make no mistake: I’m a conservative at heart and I know that Obama CAN be beaten this November. It’s just that if they don’t switch from the current path, today’s conservatives will lead the faithful of the party far away from that goal.
PANETTA: No, I think some of the detainees clearly were, you know, they used these enhanced interrogation techniques against some of these detainees. But I’m also saying that, you know, the debate about whether– whether we would have gotten the same information through other approaches I think is always gonna be an open question.
WILLIAMS: So finer point, one final time, enhanced interrogation techniques — which has always been kind of a handy euphemism in these post-9/11 years — that —
PANETTA: Right.
WILLIAMS: — includes water boarding?
PANETTA: That’s correct.
Panetta says that the info MIGHT have been obtained by other means, BUT, the info WAS obtained by waterboarding.
Phil, I’m reading the same thing. He says they used it. He says it’s unclear whether they might have gotten the same info through other means.
He does not say that “enhanced interrogation” yielded info that led them to bin Laden.
Who cares if we roughed up a few terrorists? The president is right in this case. We need to use any means necessary to rid the world of these vermin and that’s just what President Obama is doing. Bush was right and Obama was right to continue the effort. Obama has actually been a bit more effective because the critics of the war have been silenced. He’s using drones to whack people all over the world. I doubt Bush could have done that for very long.
So that’s one advantage to having a Democrat president. The media can’t criticize him for killing people who need killing.
“44.Phil Chitwood can’t even read and comprehend his own damn links.” Please, I’m begging, dave, interpret it for me.
Here is a better article: http://swampland.time.com/2011/05/04/did-torture-get-the-us-osama-bin-laden/
To the ones who said that OBama saying “I did” this that and the other..and that Bush would have ALSO beamed with pride if he had done it…I’m confused, Bush “got” Sadam!! Is that not comparable?..Bush took no credit for it..he credited the troops.
And I just used Bush getting Sadam as one example because it compared closest to the situation….the list I read had many examples from past Presidents announcing militray victories…the ones from Reagan were particularly inspiring…they have ALL giving credit to the TROOPS…No other President has ever accepted ANY credit for himself. No OTHER President has said “I did”.
While we are on the subject…thought you all may appreciate THIS Essay from a former Navy Seal.
I got it in an e-mail so I couldn’t just link to it…my apologies for that. Evidently, he is going to be discussing this more on Sunday on Fox news.
FORMER NAVY SEAL REBUKES OBAMA
By Benjamin Smith
President Barack Hussein Obama – STOP using the Navy SEALS as a campaign ploy. Because with all due respect, (what little I have for you), you do NOT speak for me.
You have a movie about SEALS within the past year trying to identify with me, with the navy SEALS, and with anything that might improve your polling numbers…and yet it is all a sham to hide a weak un-American man desperate to claim the victories of others for his own.
You Sir are trying to take the credit for what the American People have achieved in killing Bin Laden. Your use of the SEALs accomplishment as a campaign slogan is nothing less than despicable. I, as a former Navy SEAL do not accept your taking credit for Osama Bin Laden’s death. The American Military accomplished that feat.
Yet now that it is useful, you Mr. President, continue to refer to the event as if it were YOU and you alone which accomplished the worthy task of slaying one of America’s greatest enemies. You say “I directed”, “I Continued”, “My Intelligence Community”, “My national security team”, “I determined that I had enough….”, “My direction…”
Yet reliable sources continue to report that not only did you attempt to stop or delay Bin Laden’s demise, you did not even leave the golf course for the situation room until 20 minutes before SEAL Team 6 took out Osama Bin Laden. Even the clothes you wore in the situation room betray this fact. This is a Commander in Chief? A man who takes credit for actions largely taken while he was out golfing?
We men who have taken the oath, say ENOUGH. You do not speak for me, a former Navy SEAL, or any one of the league of men whom I have earned the right to be among. You are simply a man running for an office. Yet you behave as a glory-hoarding ruler. You campaign to be our leader, yet in reality you wish to be our Master.
The American people are the ones who got Bin Laden… You did Not! We have fought wars and slugged it with Vast Terror Organizations to get to the man you say YOU killed. The United Sates of America has won you a title sir and you have spent the last three years trying to beg, borrow and bow as you GIVE IT ALL AWAY. You just happened to be president of the USA when WE THE PEOPLE got Osama Bin Laden. We do not see you as heroic or stoic, we see you as the guy who let America Go. We got fat and weak and you gave it all away. That is your credit – you bow to foreign leaders and pander to the press. You do not represent me as a Military Man. You do not represent me as a SEAL. You do not represent me as an AMERICAN!
You do not speak for me or any American military man because though you may now be Commander in Chief, you are not the man to whom we can point our sons and say “This is the American dream, this is American exceptionalism, this is what I wish for your future”, because you Sir are NONE of these things. You Sir, are the antithesis of American Exceptionalism. Your idols are Saul Alinksi and Karl Marx and your revolutionary dreams and anti-American ideals poison your every policy. Your every action betrays the fact that in your soul you do not understand what it is to be an American, not what America truly is. Your agenda from the beginning has been to get rid of and kill everything that is and ever was American. You who so easily dismisses America’s greatness and bows to foreigners… YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME. YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR THE NAVY SEALS. YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR THE MILITARY MAN AND you SHALL NOT claim as your prize that which you have not earned. The Navy SEALS are NOT a campaign slogan to be bantered about for play. Nor are our accomplishments, including the demise of Osama Bin Laden, yours to claim.
So you DO NOT speak for me. And I will not stand for your use and abuse of my brethren the SEALS.
For Liberty,
Benjamin Smith
I’m glad that he also mentioned the picture that went along with the news release of the Navy Seals going after Obama, because I didn’t really want to change the subject and mention it…but, that picture HARDLY looks like Obama was the one “in charge” of the operation…and I had also heard that he didn’t want to go after Osama, he was afraid of how it would look for HIM if the Navy Seals failed in their mission.
Anyway, this is what Patriotic Americans, and our actual HEROES are saying about Obamas “spiking the football”..and further illustrates that this is not being ignored or excused as easily as YOU have done.
