“I hate pork rinds. I couldn’t imagine how anybody would ever get the idea of taking skin from a pig and frying it and then trying to sell it to people. And then people actually buy it to eat it. That is the true sign of the decline of the human race.

“Meanwhile, in the new Fox News poll, Obama has his highest favorable rating in more than a year, while Romney’s favorable rating has dropped six since last month and his unfavorable numbers have gone up five. And the recent round of NYT/CBS swing state polls found Obama faring far better than Romney on the question of who understands the needs and problems of ordinary people. ”

You can’t question it if Fox News said it (you got to love it):

That’s a pretty elitist attitude to hold. I’d bet that if Kinnaman took the time to learn the history of cooking pork in the Southeastern US, his condescension would melt like the pork cartilage under 225 degree heat over a dozen hours or so.

“When it comes to having a handle over the country’s health care problems, the public thinks President Obama is the man for the job.

Obama holds a double-digit lead over Mitt Romney on health care issues, according to the latest tracking poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation released this week.”

    http://www.benefitspro.com/2012/08/02/public-trusts-obama-over-romney-on-health-care

Mitt, please keep doubling down on how your first act as President would be to reverse healthcare reform. Bahahaha

What do you guys think about the call for President Obama to release his college records? Where is the outrage? Where is the wall to wall coverage that Harry Weed got with his outrageous charge based on an “unnamed” source? The President could end all of the speculation by just releasing the records. Heck, he doesn’t even have to release his grades; let’s just see the enrollment applications and records. Of course he really isn’t worried about it because his willing accomplices in the liberal press, including this paper and blog will not report the story.

Hey will, you know how you’ve been obsessed about that 180 propaganda film, and swallowed it’s exploitative distortions whole? Well, here’s a much better test of your own intellectual honesty. Read this from start to finish and learn about the false history being sold (literally sold, for personal profit) to people who wish it was true. Now this guy’s own publisher is pulling his book from sale because of serious factual errors.

If you’d rather, you can click the tab at the top of the page to listen instead, worth it to hear Mike Huckabee say he favors forcing people at gunpoint to listen to the revisionism this non-historian sells for a living:

    http://www.npr.org/2012/08/08/157754542/the-most-influential-evangelist-youve-never-heard-of?ps=rec&ec=mostpopularnews

His defenders include the Liberty University Law School dean, who says he likes him as a “corrective to historians”, presumably in the same way Liberty U. carbon dating deniers are a “corrective” to trained geologists.

How about that, will? Can you handle the truth?

    Re: Comment by crooked road — August 10, 2012 @ 11:25 am

    Yup.

Pork rinds, scrunchions, chicharrónes, tóp mỡ, Khaep mu, grattons, cortezas de cerdo, cotnes, torresmos, couratos, flæskesvær, fläsksvålar, Schweinekrusten, pork scratchings, pork crackling, etc are a universal feature in every nation’s cuisine where pork is used.

And they have been around for generation after generation. So, if a “sign of the decline of the human race” it is a very slow decline as well as a universal one.

Joel must have missed the Fläsksvålar in his native Sweden.

FWIIW, fläsksvålar are recommended in the “Swedish Diet” http://tinyurl.com/dxrshkw — with the observation, “I also love that even something like the skin from the pig don’t go to waste! LCHF is once again sustainable from a environment friendly perspective!”

Wow. The top 10 job-creating states are all red states, while the worst states are 7 of 10 blue states.

Ut Oh. Romney to drive the nail through Obama’s coffin tomorrow. Love the Wisconsin! NOW …….. our country can move FORWARD!!

I still say McDonnell. Then the shrill demos can yell about their vaginas. The one like gdad has! ha ha

  15. Art Hill | August 11, 2012 at 12:54 am

Will Rmoney fall into the McCain trap and listen to his Neocon handlers? Tune in this morning 9AM Norfolk, Rmoney/Ryan 2012!!

  16. gdad | August 11, 2012 at 12:54 am

Yow, word early this a.m. is that Rmney will pick Paul Ryan, he of the extremely nutty budget plans, including one that would have raised taxes on 95 percent of people. He also worships Ayn Rand.

    Guess we’ll see.

  17. gdad | August 11, 2012 at 12:55 am

BTW, Tim Kaine played a pretty mean harmonica up in Floyd Friday night. There was also a bizarre stalking person from the Allen campaign there.

It appears none of my last comments are showing up??

  19. dave | August 11, 2012 at 2:41 am

It now appears that today (Saturday) will be a great day for Democrats. By namingPaul Ryan as his VP choice, Mitt Romney will be effectively giving up Florida in the Presidential campaign. He has already given up
the Hispanic vote there and now he is giving up the votes of Sr. citizens and retirees. Add to that his burgeoning gap among women and the fact that he will lose over 90% bof ther vote from the African/American community and his goose is cooked. He already trails in Ohio by 7%, in Va. by 4%, in Pennsylvania by 11%. I don’t think winnin g Wisconsin (if he is even able to do that) will be enough! Bye bye Mitt! And maybe we can even take Ryan’s vacant House seat!

How very sad for you. Perhaps a little reciprocation would’ve helped change her mind.

  21. Suzie | August 11, 2012 at 7:14 am

If he does pick Ryan, can you imagine the debate? Nobody is quicker than Ryan. He would slice and dice that asshat Joe Biden.

Yow, word early this a.m. is that Rmney will pick Paul Ryan, he of the extremely nutty budget plans,

Only in leftwing kookville is it a good thing to drive up the deficit another $5 trillion and “extremely nutty” to control spending.

Ho, ho. As if that matters.

  27. Kristen | August 11, 2012 at 9:15 am

I guess the GOP powers-that-be were concerned that Rmoney’s appeal was too broad, so they decided to narrow it some. Good work!

  28. 13 Suns | August 11, 2012 at 9:25 am

Miss Suzie, I ain’t your Grandma. If I were, you wouldn’t talk to people the way you do, and you wouldn’t have grown up poor.

Jesus didn’t wear purple socks. Was He white?

  29. gdad | August 11, 2012 at 9:47 am

#24 Hmmm, let’s see, Ryan’s plans have variously been shown to drive up the deficit because they won;’t raise enough revenue while cutting enough spending, raise taxes on 95 percent of the people (EXCEPT the richest, of course), and destroy Medicare to give more money to the already very rich.

    Great thinking.

  30. gdad | August 11, 2012 at 9:49 am

  32. Suzie | August 11, 2012 at 10:31 am

Ho, ho. As if that matters.

It mattered in 2008. That’s when our VEEP candidate almost single-handedly rescued her moderate running mate’s moribund campaign.

  33. Suzie | August 11, 2012 at 10:33 am

It’s a good thing 0bama is so weak that any Republican would win. Otherwise you’d be upset at Romney for not nailing 0bama night and day on the huge tax increases on the middle class 0bamacare will cost.
    A $2000 tax increase on a family making $30,000 by 2016.

  34. Suzie | August 11, 2012 at 10:35 am

Paul Ryan would be an outstanding choice. But frankly, there are no bad choices: Rubio, McDonnell, Christie, Palin. All of them would be outstanding

  35. joe | August 11, 2012 at 10:43 am

Ryans wife Janna is a tax attorney.
That should come in quite handy for Mitt..maybe not quite as beneficial or as good with a gun as Sarah Palin…but probably can hold her own with loopholes and an adding machine.

  36. pammala | August 11, 2012 at 11:32 am

  39. Bob | August 11, 2012 at 12:54 pm

Attacks with no substance will accomplish nothing for the Obamites. Medicare for myself and fellow seniors is fine and dandy. It is going bankrupt, glad we have a new administration coming in and recognizes borrowing more Chines money isn’t the answer.

You liberals really are that ignorant!

  40. Art Hill | August 11, 2012 at 1:59 pm

Rmoney has officially aligned himself with the lunatic fringe. Paul Ryan is the new Sarah Palin. Once again, “Bloody Bill” and the Neocons have dashed all hope of a Republican victory. Despite this temporary distraction, Dems will hammer away at Mitt’s refusal to release his tax returns. What is he hiding from the American people?

  41. Chuck | August 11, 2012 at 2:14 pm

Finally somebody posts some useful information on here. Thanks Mike O @ #9!

    dave:

“By namingPaul Ryan as his VP choice, Mitt Romney will be effectively giving up Florida in the Presidential campaign. He has already given up”

I’m speculating here, but I think it was more a factor that Rubio didn’t want the running mate offering. Why should he? With Obama winning the presidency purely on popularity as a one-term Senator with very few qualifications, why should a very popular Rubio get his image tangled up with a trailing and less popular Romney? With a disastrous second Obama term ready to dump on our country, Rubio’s prospects for 2016 are looking good all on their own.
