On many threads before, there has been a lamentation of what is and what is not “terrorism” and how when radical muslims attack, its terrorist, but when it’s the other way around, it isn’t. Today I see use of the term “Domestic Terrorism” to describe the racial hate crime that occurred up in Milwaukee at a Sikh temple, at the hands of an ex-Army white supremacist (with a 9/11 tattoo, supposedly).

I’m wondering when these descriptors will just be referred to as “senseless acts of violence” or perhaps that’s close to being too loaded a term as well, implying mental illness.

    Thoughts!

  3. Dan Casey | August 6, 2012 at 2:26 pm

Scott, it is terrorism, for sure.

  4. Marked Man | August 6, 2012 at 2:55 pm

It was definitely terrorism. The senseless act by the guy from liberal San Diego in the movie theatre in Colorado should also be classified as terrorism as well.

If Casey got a nickel every time each of the tin foil hat wearing retardicans neck puked how much the RT sucks and how fast the blog is going down the crapper he could buy a fleet of new Volvos.

(door)matt, his synchronized swimming buddy Frank, Bob, pammala, Ancient (senile) Bobcat, Jethro the Dodo, Bob H, Jony/Tack, Dublin Dawg the douchebag, Sharon N, the list goes on and on. You half wits have no need for a newspaper anyway so quit your bitching and just leave already. You clowns are worse than a damn sewing circle. The compulsion to log on here each day to tell Dan how much you don’t like his blog must be the same sort of instinct that drives salmon back to their spawning grounds. I really and truly don’t know what’s wrong with you idiots; I’d rather practice home dentistry than ever go back to Redsate, Townhall or Drudge, but you simps just can’t seem to be able to quit Dan.

Alas, the irony is completely lost on you dim wits; you just keep coming back each day toy see if the blog offends your journalistic sensibilities even more than did the previous day. Anywho, its pretty pathetic you hey seeds don’t have anything better to do with your spare time than fritter away your day on web sites that you claim you despise.

Thought I’d spread some more good cheer to the tinfoil hat wearing contingent; RCP President Obama’s poll average is up to 3.4% over Romney. Those libbieCom polling outfits Rasmussen and NBC/WSJ have the Commander in Chief up by +2 and +6, respectfully.

Hysterical and pitiful at the same time to drop in on right wing sites and watch as they try to distance themselves from this guy. Those white supremacists, they’re all lefties, you know.

    Snicker, snicker.

  9. scott | August 6, 2012 at 3:58 pm

CNN is now reporting that he was a white supremacist in a “far-right” punk band called “End Apathy”.

(it sure seems awfully quiet out here!)

  10. Suzie | August 6, 2012 at 4:36 pm

    1. Scott,
Isn’t it odd if a shooter has ties that might link him to a white supremacist group the media’s all over that angle, but if the guy is a registered like Democrat James Holmes or a truther Bush-hater like Jared Loughner or a leftwing student of a radical black racist poetry professor like Seung Cho, then the diagnosis goes straight to the mental health angle.

Also interesting is the liberal media tries to assign EVERY mass murderer to a right-wing group, as they did Loughner and Holmes, then when they turn out to be libs the mental health template takes over.

  11. gdad | August 6, 2012 at 5:01 pm

#10 And right on cue, troll suzie steps in with one of the stock right-winger lines. Did I call that one or what?

  12. Ron May | August 6, 2012 at 5:59 pm

    Question of the day???

“What type of person is it that thinks there’s nothing wrong with asking folks tasked with teaching our children to take a 20% cut on a $50,000 annual salary, but thinks it’s terrible to ask millionaires to pay an additional 3% in income taxes???”

We all know that is the Republican Party and their cohorts in crime otherwise known as the Tea Party.

  13. Contrasuzie | August 6, 2012 at 6:02 pm

Wow. How bad a parent must one be for Levi Johnston to call you unfit? I guess that’s what happens when a slut (by Screwzie’s definition) has a kid out wedlock.

  14. Ron May | August 6, 2012 at 6:13 pm

Mitt is trying to change the subject, but he’s choosing a strange way to do so.

    http://www.nationalmemo.com/lol-of-the-week-mitt-reminds-us-he-would-have-bankrupted-every-gm-dealer-in-america/

  15. John Wilburn | August 6, 2012 at 6:34 pm

    Suzie:

“Also interesting is the liberal media tries to assign EVERY mass murderer to a right-wing group…”

Only after assigning EVERY mass murder to guns, do they assign it to any other group.

  16. mike O | August 6, 2012 at 7:14 pm

I don’t see all that much difference between the “extreme” left and “extreme” right; both seem geared toward violence for unknown or arbitrary reasons.

What I find more interesting is those who profess to be in the “middle” and the observations of their actions. Ie.. the 99%ers vs the tea partyers. Analysis of their actions seems most definitive.

  17. Sandi Saunders | August 6, 2012 at 7:51 pm

I don’t think it is odd at all that a mass shooter is either mentally ill or a right wing hater. Anyone so full of hate can erupt at any moment. Hate is powerful enough to make right wingers lie, distort, discriminate and insult anyone who dares to question their superiority, their God, their control or their dismissal. Look how often even the Romney campaign “loses it”. Their backers are Vegas kingpins, hate mongers, porn stars, and people who believe it is their God given right not to pay taxes they owe. Any dysfunction, up to and including snapping and then killing people is no surprise to me. Right wing hate groups are dangerous. They always have been.

  18. joe | August 7, 2012 at 12:19 am

    Suzie…the mental health template
might just be a multi purpose template..
    Contemplate that notion.

  19. Suzie | August 7, 2012 at 7:09 am

I don’t see all that much difference between the “extreme” left and “extreme” right; both seem geared toward violence for unknown or arbitrary reasons.

Almost all the mass killings and assassinations have been the work of leftwingers:

    Colin Ferguson
    Ted Kaczynski
    John Allen Muhammed
    Jared Loughner
    Nidal Hasan
    James Holmes
    Seung Cho

In all the above cases, only guns and/or mental illness was blamed.

In the lone case where the media thought they could make a political connection, the weapon and mental illness angle was left alone even though McVeigh surely had the mental disorder.PTSD.

In truth there is no such thing as right-wing extremist since most Americans describe themselves as conservative aka “right wing”. The majority cannot be “extremist”. Only the minority of fringe leftwing kooks whose members commit almost all the mass murders can be described as exremists.

Joe, If you post before your doobie session it might work out better. (Or it might not).

  21. Suzie | August 7, 2012 at 7:26 am

Oh, lookie here. Of then ten “best places to live” according to liberal Gallup, red states occupy seven of the first ten positions. Utah is far and away the winner.

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/156449/Utah-Poised-Best-State-Live.aspx

What does it say about the putridness of liberalism when a state in the barren desert like Utah beats the pants off a state with the most gorgeous climate and beauty in the nation, California?

  22. Uptheriver | August 7, 2012 at 8:55 am

@17- Sandi I applaud you for the most Dan Casey-esque post ever. A perfect cacophony of generalized stretching with absolutely no content.

  23. Contrasuzie | August 7, 2012 at 9:12 am

Wow! Joe plays with the Doobie Bros?! Cool!

Jesus, Screwzie, is everything left or right for you? My grandma has roses growing in her yard. Does that make her a con or a liberal?

Was the Inquisition the work of liberals?

And now the question you WON’T answer: Isn’t Limpballs really a liberal, what with being divorced and not believing in God? Or is he just a RINO?

  24. gdad | August 7, 2012 at 9:30 am

#19 Of course the folks suzie names are not all “liberals.” I’m most familiar with Cho and he wasn’t anything political — except nuts. But troll keeps telling this blatant lie.

Notice that earlier our troll wingnut mentioned that the media tried to link Holmes to the Teaparty. What she somehow fails to mention is that that mistake was IMMEDIATELY corrected and that in fact right wingers on the Internet also mistakenly listed the guy as an OWSer.

Also note that her posts on this subject just ignore the fact that our latest shooter in in fact a right-wing white supremacist. Because of this obvious fact, she must try to divert attention.

This is how lying trolls like suzie work.

  25. Chuck | August 7, 2012 at 9:31 am

How can this possibly be? According to the “truth” from the left, only the evil GOP and Mitt Romney would do something as unpatriotic as profiting from outsourcing jobs.

    http://news.yahoo.com/obamas-hollywood-backers-outsourced-jobs-195217334–abc-news-politics.html

To hear that the supporters of the great Barack Hussein Obama would do this and that he would then take the money to support his campaign is so discouraging! Typical liberal hypocrisy.

  26. gdad | August 7, 2012 at 9:32 am

#15 Well, John, I have to say that having something close to 300 million guns loose in the country doesn’t seem to be working out too well for the U.S. Following the logic of gun lovers, this should be just about the safest country in the world.

  27. billhudson | August 7, 2012 at 9:34 am

As to the picture above, I know where that is. It’s not that far from Asbury Park where we have a Clearwater festival. I have driven by it but never went there so far.

  28. Marked Man | August 7, 2012 at 9:35 am

    Contrasuzie:

“And now the question you WON’T answer: Isn’t Limpballs really a liberal, what with being divorced and not believing in God? Or is he just a RINO?”

Great question, but please note is it just one of MANY that Suzie will not answer. Suzie knows the limits of her argument. Answering any of my questions would shatter her facade.

    A reminder for the group:

Suzie, was/is Jesus white? Is there a Heaven, what keeps a person out of Heaven, and are you going? Please use “100% logic” to explain the story of Noah’s Ark as you say your religious arguments can be backed-up with 100% logic.

And here’s a new one tying in with Contra: Tell us when God forgives divorce. Answer that without talking out of both sides of your mouth.

I bet if you answer these, it would make a Post of the Day. At least I would nominate it.
    :)

  32. dobbs | August 7, 2012 at 11:54 am

Contra, with all the rose motifs around the Grateful Dead, it is obvious your grandma is liberal Deadhead. Please ask her if she would like to trade any bootlegs. I especially like the shows from spring of ’77.

  42. Sandi Saunders | August 7, 2012 at 7:12 pm

Funny Marked Man, I think you mean the days right wing talking points but whatever floats the boat. When you see the same topic brought up in several blogs, Google it and see all the right wing sites pushing it…you know where the marching orders come from.

Hollywood “outsources” some jobs for the length of a movie shoot. You and Chuck get back to us when movie studios and headquarters, sound stages, distribution, wardrobe, editing, scoring, and all other aspects of the operation close and start moving lock, stock and barrel as the wealthy robber barons have done factories and businesses for well over a decade.

  43. Sandi Saunders | August 7, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Yeah pammala, we heard you belch publicly, what a class act! Compared to you toots, I am truly a genius.

Hey Suzie #21, is it a comprehension thing? 6 of the top ten are indeed “Red States”, but the flip side is that 6 of the bottom ten are also “Red States”. Guess you are just not all that. Who knew?

26.”#15 Well, John, I have to say that having something close to 300 million guns loose in the country doesn’t seem to be working out too well for the U.S.”

gdad, when we legally get some of those “300 million” guns into the “gun free zones” where all of the bad stuff seems to happen, it might start working out better. It is, however, working great for me and I train others to help it work for them too. I respect your choice to wade in the potential victim pool all you like.

  47. gdad | August 8, 2012 at 8:05 am

#37 Chuck, Malarkey really wouldn’t know much about this since he so rarely spreads facts around here.

  48. Sandi Saunders | August 8, 2012 at 10:44 am

Gee Bob, is there a dispute about guns killing people? Really?

  49. Sandi Saunders | August 8, 2012 at 10:48 am

How exactly is it “working great” for you John Wilburn? Are you saying you have actually used your gun to defend yourself? How often? How many times? Seriously? You are as much in the “victim pool” as anyone else on any given day IMO. You may or may not be able to “shoot back” but nothing about you prevents anyone from “taking a shot” and you know that.

  50. gdad | August 8, 2012 at 10:53 am

#41 Nikki Giovanni? You mean that professor who was worried enough about Cho that she warned people in the department he was a potential problem?

And, troll, are you really trying to claim that the media just made up the mental illness angle for these killers, including Loughner, who even the prosecution agrees was schizophrenic and was incapable of even contributing to his own defense?

    Man are you easy, troll.

  51. gdad | August 8, 2012 at 10:56 am

#46 “It is, however, working great for me…”

Really? So you’ve had to use your gun to fend off attackers or to save others?

  52. gdad | August 8, 2012 at 11:16 am

I think we all know why.

  55. Dan Casey | August 8, 2012 at 12:34 pm

    Re: Comment by Warren — August 8, 2012 @ 2:32 pm

    Hardly worth a reply.

    However, it does fit with:

    Cars cause auto accidents.

    Or how about:

    Forks cause obesity.

    Keyboards cause misspelling.

Or, ice cream causes drownings [Note the direct correlation between the amount of ice cream sold in a month and the number of drowning in a month.]

  62. Warren | August 8, 2012 at 10:30 pm

Notice how Dave Hicks’ examples in #61 don’t fit at all. The verbs “shelter” and “cause” are not even close to being synonyms.

False analogy – an argument by analogy in which the analogy is poorly suited.

I made no mention of cause in my post, and yet Dave Hicks uses only that verb in his examples, characteristically exempting himself from the scrutiny of logic that he enjoys applying to others. This illogical substitution of the verb “cause” for “shelter” then permitted his use of new nouns as well.

From my post, we might’ve justifiably had another of Dave’s little logic tutorials on my use of pre-supposition, but he overlooked that in his haste to give four false examples in a reply to a post he says was “Hardly worth a reply”.

I assuredly do look forward to our examining the truth of the metaphor of buildings and people, and the likelihood that without buildings to actually do what buildings are created to do, people, animals and objects of the 21st century could shelter themselves sufficiently.

In a flash, someone would introduce a distributive argument, pointing out that there is enough square footage under roof to cover everyone; but besides highlighting how more is no guarantee of wise use, it would be a fallacious irrelevancy diverting from the issue posed: just how much mass shelter could occur with fewer of the things deliberately created for that purpose?

    Cold fingers indeed.

See MIke? This is why I don’t play the game. This ADHD guy has the attention span of a gnat. These are just more idiotic nonsensical questions. You answered them; now notice he doesn’t respond because he forgot what he asked. Now it’s on to the next set of inane irrelevant questions that have nothing to do with anything.

  64. John Wilburn | August 9, 2012 at 1:25 am

    Suzie:

“This ADHD guy has the attention span of a gnat.”

Surely you weren’t talking about me here? I have enough attention span to keep you on the hook consistently with the very same questions that you HAVE NOT ANSWERED AND CANNOT HIDE BEHIND mike O’s GENERALIZATIONS.

“These are just more idiotic nonsensical questions.”

Yet, you are afraid to answer them.

“…now notice he doesn’t respond because he forgot what he asked.”

I know exactly what I asked and so do you.

“Now it’s on to the next set of inane irrelevant questions that have nothing to do with anything.”

Nope. I want you to answer whether or not Jesus was white? Is there a heaven, what keeps one out of it, and will you be there? At what point does God forgive a divorce (or an abortion)? Did the flood of Noah really, literally happen?

Put up or shut up toots.

  65. John Wilburn | August 9, 2012 at 1:32 am

By the way, mike O, the questions are geared specifically toward Suzie to expose her hypocrisy. Her silly posts have spawned the silly questions. I personally don’t care about anything I asked her, but she certainly seems to take positions that are supposedly “Godly” so I care why she refuses to answer them. She needs to either formally degrade her own intelligence to humor her professed religion or admit that she doesn’t believe all of the crap she claims and alludes to.

  66. gdad | August 9, 2012 at 11:53 am

#63 “These are just more idiotic nonsensical questions.”

Since Warren and John’s questions are 100 percent based on things suzie has repeatedly claimed, suzie just admitted that she keeps bringing up idiotic and nonsensical stuff. But of course the rest of us already knew that.

    Thanks for the confirmation, troll!!

  68. Dobbs | August 9, 2012 at 10:36 pm

John, I’m not taking a position here and now. But, I’m curious about something. I’ve often heard the statement, as we all have, that “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.” OK. So, therefore, it should also be said that “Guns don’t save lives. People save lives.” If the inanimate object doesn’t kill, then the inanimate object doesn’t save. I’m not trying to project a pro or anti gun stance here. Just looking at the logic of the statements.

  69. Warren | August 9, 2012 at 10:45 pm

Guns don’t save lives, people save lives.

  70. gdad | August 9, 2012 at 11:43 pm

#67 Of course we have no idea at all whether the person using the gun saved a life or not, John, do we? Can you tell us what percentage of armed robberies with noi resistance by the victim end with the victim being shot or killed? Pretty low, I’m betting, although I have no stats to back that up.

Also, it would seem to me that if the perp actually knows how to use a gun and is prepared to use it if the victim resists, the victim is more likely to get shot before he or she can get the gun out.

BTW, I don’t know which is right, but on WDBJ they said that the only shot was fired after the perp fled the shop and had already aborted the robbery.

Well done — were I alleging analogies. But I wasn’t.

    An analogy has the form:

    A is like B.
    B has property P.
    Therefore, A has property P.

I said nothing of that form, weak or otherwise. I was simply showing other Non Causa Pro Causa fallacies.

You’re exactly right dobbs. “Guns save lives” is more or less a response to “guns kill people”. People with guns often save lives. We may well have a dead store cashier in Roanoke right now without the cashier being armed.

Excellent point Dobbs #68 and Warren #69! Guns don’t save people, people save people. It is the exact same logic they apply to, Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
