Sure would like to see Obama working for me for a change!

  2. Kristen | September 19, 2012 at 12:14 am

Obama is far too gracious, far too kind, far too forgiving. Letterman set him up to crush Rmoney and he didn’t bite.

You republicans who don’t want him? He’s way more than you deserve.

  3. joe | September 19, 2012 at 12:26 am

    Sept 10 headline ran. :
“Romney to Republicans : Don’t Panic.

How soon it goes from Republicans Turn To Romney to..
Coming soon..get ready,,. Republicans Turn ON Romney.

  4. dave | September 19, 2012 at 12:41 am

If barack Obama performs as well in the debates as he Did tonight on letterman ,Romney doesnt have a prayer.

  5. Art Hill | September 19, 2012 at 12:55 am

Excellent appearance by the president, intelligent, folksy, and humorous. Romney will continue to task others with convincing voters he possesses a soul.

  6. Dan Casey | September 19, 2012 at 1:09 am

“If Barack Obama performs as well in the debates as he Did tonight on Letterman,Romney doesnt have a prayer.”

I’ve been wondering if Romney won’t skip the debates, at least the first one. Rush will be on the radio the next day, propping him up, claiming Obama is unworthy to be on the same state and Mitt was smart to stand him up.

Letterman is a lot faster on his feet than Romney. I’ll bet you $10,000 about that.

  7. Suzie | September 19, 2012 at 6:09 am

I hope the 0bama campaign had to pay for this free advertising. Letterman is a fawning POS. It used to be late-night comedians gave it to both sides. Shoot, he might as well have an 0bama logo covering the front of his desk. But it is CBS. Recall they were the ones who cooked up the fake NG documents against Bush at election time.

  8. Suzie | September 19, 2012 at 6:12 am

Romney is a much better debater than the First Idiot. He’s had a lot more experience and faced a lot more fire. 0bama had the keys to the city hand-delivered to him on a silver platter. He tends to get rattled if someone dares challenge him. Witness his meltdown againt Eric Cantor.

  9. Mattyr | September 19, 2012 at 6:13 am

Dave your key word there is “performs.” interesting choice of words. He is nothing but an “act.” and Dan, really? Romney is going to hammer the President in the debates.

  10. Suzie | September 19, 2012 at 6:32 am

Letterman lied, of course. Romney never said the 47% freeloaders didn’t matter to him. He called them ‘victims’ which is being charitable, but is also true in a sense. They are victims of the entitlement trap that saps all personal intitiative.

I wonder why Letterman didn’t ask what everybody wanted to know.
“Why do you persist with the silly tale that some video caused the preplanned 9-11 assaults and riots in the Middle East?”
“Why did you support the Islamofascists who now rule Egypt and Libya?”
“Why haven’t you condemned the violence and mayhem perpetrated by the OWS?”
“Why are you spending so damn much when Moody’s announced our credit rating would drop again if the crap doesn’t stop?”
“Why do you claim you’ve created jobs, when you’ve lost net jobs”?
“Why are you killing record numbers of Americans in Afghanistan?” “What’s your plan there. Do you freaking have one?

    You know, questions like that.

  11. Alfred | September 19, 2012 at 6:59 am

Some of Romney’s 47% percent comment may be true, be he’s making the case against his own party.

“….the growth of the non-income-taxpaying population is largely a result of Republican tax policies.”

  12. Pistol Pete | September 19, 2012 at 8:10 am

‘You republicans who don’t want him? He’s way more than you deserve’

This election year is definitely an A.B.O voting year.

  13. Henry | September 19, 2012 at 8:13 am

Obama was partying with Jay-Z and shmoozing with Letterman while the consulates were attacked and American Airlines was laying off thousands of workers. That will make for good commercials in October.

Obama has avoided journalists’ questions but was willing to talk to Letterman and People magazine. And Dan’s profession has to take it and like it because Obama owns them. People magazine. Now there is a true news magazine that the President respects.
Dan, if you write a few more friendly columns for the President, maybe he let one of you ask a question about his dog. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  14. gdad | September 19, 2012 at 8:13 am

#8 Ryan said this morning that Romney is “obviously inarticulate,” so I guess he disagrees with you, troll. At least that’s the right-wing spin on Romney’s disdain for half of America.

  15. gdad | September 19, 2012 at 8:25 am

#13 NOW Henry is blaming Obama for the fact that American Airlines doesn’t run its business as well as, say, Southwest. And if Obama had been in his office instead of fundraising, American would have magically turned into a better company.

Getting pretty desperate are you, Henry?

  16. Sandi Saunders | September 19, 2012 at 8:47 am

Whining, whinging and more whining! Does the right wing HAVE anything else? It is all you people do!

When Romney or his wife goes on a talk show will those hosts be “a fawning POS”?

As if any of you would ever have or ever will consider voting for any Dem. Your self serving criticism is so not withering. Romney is the one who answers no questions, tells no details, shares no policy, enlightens no one with his plans. It is hilarious that you think that stiff, condescending, arrogant jerk is going to “win” a debate. Not even one! That is my prediction.

I wonder why none of you were concerned with asking Bush/Cheney what everybody wanted to know:

“Why do you persist with the silly tale that no one warned you of an attack before 9/11?”

“Why did you support or ignore the cruel dictators you knew were ruling Egypt and Libya?”

“Why haven’t you admitted that you lied to go to war?”

“Why did you spend so damn much when you knew we would have nothing when the bubble burst?”

“Why did you claim you’ve created jobs, when you’ve lost net jobs for nearly a decade”?

“Why did you send Americans to die in Iraq and Afghanistan?” “What was your plan there? Did you freaking have one?”

    You know, questions like that.

  17. K | September 19, 2012 at 8:52 am

“Why do you persist with the silly tale that some video caused the preplanned 9-11 assaults and riots in the Middle East?”

Could it be that they are being paid by people who support Romney to raise all that fussj over there??? If so, its a little too late

  18. Henry | September 19, 2012 at 9:03 am

Yo gdad, this ain’t the first layoff since Obama took office. We’ve had a lot of these. There are 261k fewer employees on payrolls today than when Obama took office.

  19. Dan Casey | September 19, 2012 at 9:12 am

Ah, The Examiner again (!), drawing a causal relationship between food stamps and a minor change, sought by GOP governors, in the welfare-to-work rules

Hmmm. So does this mean that those GOP governors who asked for more flexibility on welfare-to-work DIDN’T REALLY want it? Was their real purpose in asking for it simply to fool the president into a minor policy change that, spun with a big lie, could be used against him in the presidential campaign?

I suspect the number of people Rmoney doesn’t care about is a lot more than 47%.

  22. Sandi Saunders | September 19, 2012 at 9:34 am

Does it even occur to you that if your point is buttressed by a fringe “news organization” it might be hooey? The news is a business. If you understood business, you would know that credibility matters. The truth rules and the truth is what makes the printed page. When you use a source that is a right wing mouthpiece with no credibility, you are blowing smoke. Period.

I know it galls you that liberal leaning papers still have credibility, but that is because they still tell the truth. You right wingers should try it sometime.

Maybe you want to argue that “able bodied people should not be on food stamps”, but people without a job still need to eat. If you know a better way to buy food when you have no job, please do share it with us.

Using statistics and data to skew an argument as you see fit is not credibility, it is sophistry and the right wing media is king!

  23. Sandi Saunders | September 19, 2012 at 9:40 am

About 17 million people received food stamps back in 2000. Some 30 million received them in 2008.

…Spending on food stamps doubled between 2001 and 2006, even though unemployment was low in those years.

…Newt Gingrich famously calls Barack Obama “the food-stamp president.” But the first president worthy of the moniker was George W. Bush“.

The truth is a witch with a capital B! The rise of the “food stamp nation” is not Obama’s fault. Whether he can fix the structural problems after the economy recovers and people find work, remains to be seen, but it is a lie to blame him for the problem!

    Are ANY right wingers honest?

Suzie, I was wondering if you had gotten the Romney email for a response. Sure enough, you come back when your email comes in. What a joke and a joke of a response.

  26. gdad | September 19, 2012 at 10:07 am

#25 Are you saying Jay-Z can’t spend him money that way, Henry? And, yes, every presidential candidate these days tries to strictly control photo ops and press. Why do you think that video of Romney disdaining half of he U.S. had to be recorded secretly?

  27. Kristen | September 19, 2012 at 10:07 am

Beyonce and JayZ probably have a net worth between half a billion and a billion dollars. What should they serve at their fundraiser…spam?

  28. Shrillary | September 19, 2012 at 10:14 am

Boy oh boy, talk about forgetting your roots…

Mitt Romney’s Mom says George Romney was on Welfare as a child.
“He was a refugee from Mexico, he was on relief, welfare relief for the first years of his life…[this] great country gave him opportunity…”
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPZPaysBTqk&feature=player_embedded

Mrs. Geo Romney was a wonderful spokesperson for her husband…what happened to Willard, who is barely articulate and by his recent statements would feel disdain for his own father?

  29. Sandi Saunders | September 19, 2012 at 10:15 am

Jealous much Henry? Class Warfare? Wealth envy? Obama was a guest, he was not giving the party or hosting the event.

  30. Sandi Saunders | September 19, 2012 at 10:17 am

You right wingers are so desperate not to talk about how Romney literally disrespected 47% of the nation and told us what he really thinks of the poor, the elderly, the disabled and the veterans, that you will pull any straw. Careful, you might be causing your own house to collapse with such desperate knee jerking!

  31. Suzie | September 19, 2012 at 10:40 am

You right wingers are so desperate not to talk about how Romney literally disrespected 47% of the nation and told us what he really thinks of the poor, the elderly, the disabled and the veterans, that you will pull any straw. Careful, you might be causing your own house to collapse with such desperate knee jerking!

He called the 47% freedloaders “victims” hon. That’s what he said. He was being nice.

  32. Henry | September 19, 2012 at 11:04 am

So why can’t we see the pictures from the $40,000-per-person fundraiser for the President?

  33. Say What? | September 19, 2012 at 11:31 am

#32…over 3000 of those ‘victims’ earned millions of dollars and paid no federal income tax. Of course, if (God forbid) the Ryan tax plan takes effect, Romney himself could be one of those poor, unfortunate victims!

  34. Sandi Saunders | September 19, 2012 at 11:48 am

Suzie, you need to come up for some oxygen! What Romney said, “hon”:

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.
Romney went on: “[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

Neither you, nor the right wing spin machine can make it better and lying will not help you here!

    http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/09/secret-video-romney-private-fundraiser

Looking at that 47% who do not pay income taxes: Of the 18.1% who paid no income or payroll tax, 10.3% were elderly, 6.9% had income under 20K and <1% would be the "others" who may have made money, maybe even lots of money (as in wealthy people who pay no income or payroll taxes).

Of the 47% who do not pay income taxes, the aforementioned 18.1% also did not pay payroll taxes, but 28.3% did pay payroll taxes, IOW, the working poor.

I know you hate the working poor, but this nation depends on them. If you and Romney can find a way to pay them enough such that they will owe income tax, you get right on that, they would LOVE such a step up!

So typical of the right wing, stand on their throats and tell them it is their fault they cannot breath!

  35. Shrillary | September 19, 2012 at 11:58 am

Here are some more of Romney’s “victims”:

    “The 78 companies that enjoyed at least one year of paying NO INCOME TAX had profits equaling $156 billion”.{my caps for the dimwitted}
    “…these companies (all of which — again — were profitable) RECEIVED REFUND CHECKS from the government totaling $21.8 billion.[...] Duke Energy and Eli Lilly to ExxonMobil and Goldman Sachs…{my caps for the dimwitted}
Even worse, 134 of the 280 companies examined were content paying foreign taxes at a rate one-third higher than they paid in America.
    http://www.dailyfinance.com/2012/05/07/many-fortune-500-firms-pay-less-in-income-taxes-than-you/

    AND more “victims”

“7,000 Millionaires Paid No Income Taxes in 2011″
    http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2011/09/buffett-rule-rorschach-7-000-millionaires-paid-no-income-taxes-in-2011/245469/

  36. gdad | September 19, 2012 at 12:00 pm

#33 Show us the pics from Romney’s posh fundraisers first (not the secretly taken pics, the ones where he allowed photogs in). We’ll be waiting, Henry.

  37. gdad | September 19, 2012 at 12:03 pm

And again, Henry, why would you care? Please explain. Aren’t you in favor of people spending their own money the way they want? Or are you just another one of those hypocrites?

  38. Warren | September 19, 2012 at 1:48 pm

A dime says Henry couldn’t afford to pay $10,000 for dinner with Ryan last week. Henry wouldn’t put his money where his mouth has been, it might make his money stink.

  39. Frank | September 19, 2012 at 7:51 pm

hey dano, you only lapped up the un-edited parts of the mother jones bit! …you LAZY opinion journalist!

  40. Dan Casey | September 19, 2012 at 7:57 pm

I can’t wait for the SNL opener this weekend. It’s gonna be a scream.

  41. Art Hill | September 19, 2012 at 9:25 pm

Wingnut alternative universe. Romney didn’t say what he did because the tape had a two minute edit.
