And, if per (fat) chance UVa beats Georgia Tech at home, who will deserve the higher ranking?

    It must be Obama’s fault.

  2. dave | September 15, 2012 at 4:59 pm

Cavs getting killed.. hokies overrated as usual. Tech offense sucks

  3. david | September 15, 2012 at 5:04 pm

    No excuses, just overrated.

  4. scott | September 15, 2012 at 5:15 pm

So, Youngstown State beat Pitt, who beat VT, who beat GT, who is about to beat UVA. Does that make Youngstown State that much better than UVA?

Well, since this is the most irrational speaking group of people pretty much on the planet, i will say yes it does!!

  5. Dan Casey | September 15, 2012 at 5:19 pm

    “No excuses, just overrated.”

    It’s the liberal media’s fault!

  6. Henry | September 15, 2012 at 5:21 pm

    Georgia Tech stomping UVA.

  7. hokie hater | September 15, 2012 at 5:28 pm

As you can tell from my name, I’m on cloud 9 right now. The only excuse for the Chokies is they suck. I’m so happy right now I might run thru the streets jumping and yelling at the top of my lungs “the chokies suck, the chokies suck” great job PITT

  8. johnny | September 15, 2012 at 5:42 pm

Not to worry. Win or lose they all eat for free and get a trophy. Can’t have anyone in a state school feel let down, regardless of skill level.

  9. Frank | September 15, 2012 at 6:06 pm

in addition to the loss being obama’s fault, i don’t think the hokies will fill that empty space in their trophy case as long as Frank Beamer is the Head Coach, and it pains me to say that. His offense is predictable, and his sub-ordinates don’t know how to mix things up to gain a coaching advantage over the other the coaches on the other side-line…except on defense, and even that is not as consistant as they once had.

every time the Hokies beat themselves, i think they’re out-coached. Beamer got VT from mediocre to consistantly good, and the problem with that is most of Hokie nation now want to get into the “out-standing” category. Can’t do that with the same offensive coaches that got you to “good”…and have kept you there…. Frank’s not gonna address that one.

  10. Hokiebird | September 15, 2012 at 7:17 pm

They inherited a poor team from the last coach and just need more time. You have to ask yourself, “are they better than 4 years ago?”

Wait…. Is that a predator drone over Lane Stadium? Time for the HokieBird to RUN!!!!!

  11. Hokiebird | September 15, 2012 at 7:21 pm

    To Hokie Hater-

Will your wife pick you up in a minivan with her three friends by the quad?

(for those who don’t get it, it’s from a movie!!)

  12. david | September 15, 2012 at 7:31 pm

    @5, no Dan, it’s Bush’s fault.

  13. CavFan4Life | September 15, 2012 at 7:33 pm

Hokie Hater, love your comment and could not agree more. I think its ridiculous that the majority of the people and media around here think there’s only 1 Virginia team. Prime example the headlines I just saw on the homepage: “Georgia Tech buries Virginia” and “No. 13 Virginia Tech falls to Pittsburgh”. Funny the words that are chosen when Tech was ranked and beaten by a nonranked team and UVA wasn’t ranked but its sooooo much worse. Whatever, the Chokies are nothing but a bunch of obnoxious thugs and for some reason think they are the gods of football. I’m here to tell you they’re not. My Cavs may not be #1 in football but neither is Tech and people need to realize that.

  14. Kendra | September 15, 2012 at 7:58 pm

Everyone knows the Hokies are the most overrated football team in college football and they proved it again today. They didn’t even belong in the top 25, much less being #13. Only a miracle saved them in the first game of the season and they were awful against AP, even though they won the game. Will they even win 6 games, who knows? But Beamer isn’t going anywhere, he and Foster are laughing all the way to the bank. Why should they care? Just more lame brain excuses as usual. This is the worst beating that VY has ever experienced against an unranked team. Get ready for the return of the days of Strock, Deshazo and Furrer.

  15. Pistol Pete | September 15, 2012 at 7:59 pm

They decided it was ok to look like the Maryland Terrapins every now and then.

  16. Teresa | September 15, 2012 at 8:17 pm

Cleary it’s Romney/Ryan’s fault. No respect for the blue collar lunch pail defense.

  17. Blivet | September 15, 2012 at 8:53 pm

Acc football is just not that good.

  18. Blivet | September 15, 2012 at 9:00 pm

Frank Beamer does a fine job with the players he has. Face it. Former hokies are not burning up the NFL. Tech doesn’t have the same talent of the best college teams.

  19. Still Learning | September 15, 2012 at 9:15 pm

Hhater…proud of your team today? You hate losing? Or just the hokies? Could be worse…..could be a Maryland fan.

  20. Dan Casey | September 15, 2012 at 10:04 pm

Maryland lost by 3 today, PP.

  21. Suzie | September 15, 2012 at 10:28 pm

So, Youngstown State beat Pitt, who beat VT, who beat GT, who is about to beat UVA. Does that make Youngstown State that much better than UVA?

    Scott,
About ten years ago, some braniac applied that logic 18 times and eventually got a tiny Oregon School, Willamette University, beating then #2 Florida State. It was pretty funny/amazing.

  22. Suzie | September 15, 2012 at 10:29 pm

Maryland lost by 3 today, PP.

Maryland really sucks. I thought Edsall would do a much better job.

  23. Suzie | September 15, 2012 at 10:31 pm

The Hokies always end up pretty good. They have the best coaching staff in America. They take many kids who weren’t widely recruited and make them NFL players. Cody Grimm is the perfect example.

  24. Bob | September 16, 2012 at 12:27 am

Nobody gives a damn (headed right where Miami U. was today!) because Va. Tech is not worth a sh**! And, NO, Jim Weaver, Scott Allison at Roanoke College says they won’t play you in football because they don’t have a football team! Have you tried calling Blacksburg H. S. or Salem H. S. or Craig Co. H. S.?? Better get one of them on the schedule before the year is over ifyou want to win one more game!

  25. Blue John | September 16, 2012 at 12:40 am

Have the Hokies made it to Three Rivers Stadium yet?

  26. hokie hater | September 16, 2012 at 1:58 am

Holier bird love your comment “old school” great reference….but I’m single so sadly no, no one picked me up and I kept my clothes on

  27. hokie hater | September 16, 2012 at 1:59 am

    *Hokie bird

  28. dave | September 16, 2012 at 2:43 am

    hokie hater @1:56

Unlike the Hokie Football team which was stripped naked in front of 50000
people today and sent running in search of a figleaf to cover up their
    embarrassment. :)

  29. Pistol Pete | September 16, 2012 at 8:18 am

Dan, Maryland’s lost a lot of other games over the past 8 years too

  30. Ron May | September 16, 2012 at 8:46 am

Beamer: They told us this was a JV game so that’s the team we brought.

  31. scott whitaker | September 16, 2012 at 9:34 am

#28 Dave, how’d your team from C’ville do against the team VT has already beaten?

  32. Mattyr | September 16, 2012 at 9:48 am

    Bud Foster. Time to go.

  33. gdad | September 16, 2012 at 10:26 am

#17 ACC football really isn’t much.

  34. Suzie | September 16, 2012 at 11:22 am

Put on the brakes, guys, these are excellent Christian conservative coaches at Virginia Tech. They always persevere and win in the end.

  35. gdad | September 16, 2012 at 12:00 pm

#34 Are you predicting that the MSM is about to start going after them, suzie (I know the fans are)? Or that tinfoil hat conspiracy theory just for conservative CATHOLIC coaches?

  36. dave | September 16, 2012 at 12:14 pm

    scott whitaker

Maybe you missed my earlier post where I said “the cavs are getting killed”. I’m a UVA fan but one difference between me and the Hokie zealots is that I don’t harbor any illusions about the Wahoos winning a national title any time soon or deserving a top ten ranking every year.
The Hoklie defense didn’t play up to its usual expectations yesterday.
But that can be partly attributed to the fact that their offense kept them in a hole and under pressure all day with 4 turnovers and their usual poor line play and unimaginative schemes. And despite Suzie’s usual nonsense about the good “christian” men on the Hokies staff, religion has nothing to do with it. Just look at Penn State. Frank Beamer
(and Foster) have gotten a lot of mileage out of making the Hokies tough on defense. But today’s game has changed. Defense is important but if you don’t have the high powered offense to go with it, you’re just gonna be another team a little better than average but going nowhere. Unless the Hokies adjust their philosophy, get rid of Stinespring , and hire a coordinator who can recruit and attract some top notch offensive talent,
they are at the top of where they are going to be.
As for UVA, they have a long way to go. I see improvement, but their defense yesterday was pitiful and there are no excuses. From Hokie fans, what I typically see are excuses.

  37. Kristen | September 16, 2012 at 12:23 pm

There’s a guy on Bitter’s blog who made a hilarious comment referencing his malfunctioning vacuum and blaming it on Tech having stolen “all the suck in the Hokie nation”. Bitter’s blog is aptly named today.

  38. Dave Hicks | September 16, 2012 at 3:27 pm

    Re: Comment by david — September 15, 2012 @ 5:04 pm

Yup. As a VT fan, I predicted it after each of the first two games.

We have a thing of losing against Pitt. We did not look sharp in the first two games. In the second, we should have run up something like the final score in the first quarter and had all the first string off before the second.

Yesterday, the game that really surprised me, when I got home, was VA v. GA. GA is not that good, IMHO.

  39. gdad | September 16, 2012 at 3:39 pm

#38 Dave H, even though they won, U.Va. looked pretty terrible in their first two games. Their O line was supposed to have been a major strength and instead they’ve been worse than awful. The running game is non-existent. Still, I was quite surprised by the margin.

    Re: Comment by gdad — September 16, 2012 @ 3:39 pm

I agree. Wasn’t quite as detailed in my comment, as you.

  41. Dave Hicks | September 16, 2012 at 9:53 pm

    Tech, Hoos, Ravens, Redskins!!!!

    I need a break!!!!!!!!

  42. Contrasuzie | September 17, 2012 at 10:24 am

I predict that Pitt will cream VT with a score of 35-17 on Sept. 15.

  43. Kristen | September 17, 2012 at 10:46 am

Contra, your system is FOOLPROOF. Any thoughts on the 2008 election?

  46. Ancient Bobcat | September 18, 2012 at 8:35 am

Suzie, just what have you been smoking? VT has the best coaching staff in America? hahahahahhahaha! You had to post that for a laugh. Wanna see the best? Check out the SEC coaching staffs.
