Pretty cheesy on the Thursday OPEN thread
“Democrats always like to brag that their guys are smarter than the opponents and Republicans always like to brag that their guys are more moral than the opponents. But if you’re looking for morals in politics you’re looking for bananas in the cheese department.”
Harry Shearer

Yum, where is that cheese shop? We lost ours here.
And Rmoney manages to dig even deeper into negative territory on his “favorable” ratings. It seems as though the GOP is cutting him loose…very odd campaign season.
A pretty accurate assessment in my view.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-26/mitt-romney-this-year-s-michael-dukakis.html
I often discuss in my Ethics classes that the morality of our leaders directly affects the morality of our citizens. I see it in my practice each time a government official is cited for failing to pay their taxes. The taxpayers immediately wonder why they should pay their taxes when the leaders are not. Until President Clinton’s indiscretion became public fodder, you never saw a certain four letter word in the press, now you hear it everyday by parents, teachers, newscasters, and on and on.
When our leaders proudly manipulate their taxes, scheme for insider trading deals, fail to behave in a moral and ethical manner it quickly affects how citizens perceive what is moral and ethical.
I have heard since the sixties about the youth and media destroying the Nation’s morals. That is hogwash. Look at our leaders taking us into unethical wars, failing to support integration and equal treatment of all, of conspiring to win an election with break-ins, southern strategies, and unjust conditions for voting. Look at those that conspire for non-bid contracts with lobbyists and tax rates bought by campaign contributions. Both Parties have had so many leaders head to prison for their behavior and many more have simply gotten a pass and a snicker; but their actions affect the public perception. Fortunately, Bill Clinton has turned his perception around and become a true leader working tirelessly for the well being of the World. We need more leaders that give more credence to ethics in office than simply lip service (no pun intended).
Krisen, it’s in Lexington. That’s where Donna and I went last weekend. BTW, you can’t go wrong at The Southern Inn, a restaurant on Main Street.
I love the Southern Inn…we ate there not long before the fire, and haven’t been back since it moved back to its spot. Lexington’s such a great town with several nice restaurants – love driving up there for the day.
People should be asking WHY 0bama wants us to follow the exact same path Spain and Greece have followed the past ten years. Is it because he’s stupid? Or is it because he wants us to suffer the same fate?
The MSM should be asking that question every day.
Love The Southern Inn too. We ordered a desert there that had a homemade marshmallow and it was very, very good. My wife came back and figured out how to make marshmallows and they are so much better than store bought.
6. Susie, I really get tired of such a ridiculous comparison. The US is not some minor World economy as you propose and never will be. Your and your Tea Party’s lack of faith in the US and its economy is astounding. You should be ashamed for pushing such nonsense.
People should be asking whyMitt Romney wants to follow the same exact path that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, the neocons, and a Republican Congress followed for the 8 years between 2000 and 2008 which led us to economic ruin and disasters abroad. Is he just stupid or does he really want to finish destroying this nation.
The MSM should be pounding on this question every single day.
There, I fixed it for you.
I was going to order off the Southern Inn’s menu ([prices of entrees range from $14-26) but then our server said one of their specials was a lamb burger topped with feta and taziki (sp?) sauce.
So I got that. It was the best burger I’ve ever eaten. Donna had the pork chops and they were terrific, too.
When the MSM starts asking Suzie questions, we will be farther down the hole than Spain or Greece can even imagine. We have never followed the “exact same path” of any nation, Spain and Greece included. But, I suppose you get points for structuring a sentence at your age Norma D.
Why Obama will win and why I think our country has surpassed the tipping point where those that take outweigh those that give. Good Luck with that America. Watch out ma’am there’s a man behind you waiting to “put you back in chains…”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tpAOwJvTOio
Yeah Suzie with respects to Richard’s comment #8. Why would $16,000,000,000,000 worth of debt, record foreclosures, 46,000,000 people on food stamps, 65% of the eligible workforce actually working dampen your faith in the US economy. Thought Richard was numbers guy. Business must be really bad with those analyst skills. Wheww.
The Tea Party people are the only ones who get it. Our economy is in big trouble. Our country is in big trouble. Wake up.
Dan – Greek Tzatziki Sauce
#6 We’ll let you ask it every day. You do anyway.
People should be asking whyMitt Romney wants to follow the same exact path that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, the neocons, and a Republican Congress followed for the 8 years between 2000 and 2008 which led us to economic ruin and disasters abroad.
Bush and Cheney had a sterling record for 6 1/2 years, building the economy to unprecedented prosperity and winning the Iraq War. Yes, when they had the GOP Congressional majority, things went swimmingly. Only after the 2006 elections when Democrats took control of the banking committee and tightened their iron grip on Fannie and Freddie did the economy go to hell.
I ask this question all the time and no leftwinger can answer; Was Bush brilliant for 6.5 years, then suddenly forgot how to run an economy at the end of his second term? That’s what the leftwing kooks would have us believe. With President Idiot, we haven’t had a single moment of brilliance or prosperity.
Actually “Walker”, you and the others who post such crap are the reason Obama will win again. Do you ever wonder how such efforts come across?
Can we all please stop posting clips of idiots on YouTube as though those videso somehow many a relevant political point?
Obama’s going to win because Rmoney is a horrible, terrible, incompetent candidate. It’s got nothing to do with being a “taker”, and frankly we already know the red states are the ones that spend the most on welfare.
http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-08-18/politics/30039546_1_blue-states-federal-taxes-red-states
Of the twenty worst states, 16 are either Republican dominated or conservative states.
So please get over this “it’s all about the takers” crap. The Republican candidates blows and what passes for the Republican “message” fails even harder. It might pain the Right, but the country still prefers Obama over whatever hateful talking head the GOP is throwing on the pire. Republicans are losing because they richly deserve to lose. You want to call Obama “divisive”? Another fail. He’s managed to unify the country behind his candidacy. Suck failure, GOP.
I DO get tired of the endless election cycle. I have caller ID at home, and I simply do not answer the phone if I don’t know the caller. But I still get bombarded on TV, radio and by mail.
Last time I was at the Southern Inn I had roasted duck with raspberry sauce! OMG is all I can say! The lamb burger sounds wonderful also.
No Suzie Q, Bush wasn’t brilliant for 6.5 years. He and his Republican colleagues chose to stop paying down the national debt and end the pay as you go rules for the federal budget. Instead they chose to give huge tax cuts to the wealtiest among us, approve and unfunded Medicare benefit and engage in 2 unfunded wars in the Middle East. Assuming the wars were forced upon them, that’s debatable, they chose to pursue them without funding them. I could go on, but I think that’s sufficient to point out that GWB,Cheney, Rumsfeld, and a Republican congress were not particularly brilliant in their management of this country.
#21 Good synopsis, Ron.
Proof of Suzie’s delusions = #16. Anyone still defending Bush as “brilliant” and “winner” of the Iraq War is certifiable.
Historian Kenneth C. Davis gives him an F and truly, he ought to know. But, as always, thanks for your brilliant insight Norma D. We’ll let you know when the set is ready for you.

Kristen – Show me a clip of ANY GOP supporter claiming their FREE sh*&t. Please. ANY candidate the GOP puts up is better than what we’re stuck with.
Sandi – I could care less how the efforts “come off.” It is what it is and your right it is CRAP!
Here’s why Rmoney will lose
Romney is a callous, heartless, elitists, vulture capitalist, job-exporting, out-of-touch, non-tax-paying plutocrat that Americans neither like nor trust – Romney/Ryan and the republicans’ platform will be repudiated on election day.
Thanks Walker. Ill see if I can return my HTC to see if I can get the new “OBAMAPHONE”!

Resort’s Snow Won’t Be Pure This Year; It’ll Be Sewage
SNIP
In February, a federal appeals court ruled in favor of the ski resort’s upgrade plans, ending a legal saga fought by a coalition of environmental groups and 13 American Indian tribes, which consider the mountain sacred and view the wastewater snow as a desecration.
This coming ski season, the resort, Arizona Snowbowl, will become the first ski resort in the world to use 100 percent sewage effluent to make artificial snow.

Coming to slopes near you? Soon?
“… first … to use 100 percent sewage effluent to make artificial snow”???? How much are others using, already?
Did I hear correctly that the national debt doubled under GWB’s administration from 5 to 10 trillion?
Isn’t this interesting?? It takes another arrow out of Mitt Romney’s quiver.
http://money.cnn.com/2012/09/27/news/economy/obama-job-creation/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
13. James – You need to look and see where the 16 trillion of debt came from before your response. You will find that GOP politics caused all but a minor portion. You should also consider that the Tea Party has done more to harm the economy than even GWB in my humble opinion. Their constant griping and comparisons to Greece is so ridiculous yet people such as you and Suzie keep sending it out. The Tea party is more responsible for Mitt’s downfall than even Mitt.

No, the Officer Doesn’t Have to Announce the Offense When He Makes An Arrest
Orin Kerr • September 26, 2012 11:28 pm
This video [ http://tinyurl.com/8z89bgv ] of columnist Mona Eltahawy being arrested after she vandalized a subway advertisement and spray-painted a woman in her way brings up an often-misunderstood question of criminal procedure: If an officer places a person under arrest, do they have to tell the person what crime they are under arrest for having violated? Eltahawy certainly thinks so. Watch the video at the 1:56 mark:
SNIP
That’s often how it happens to TV, in part because it makes for good drama. On TV, the officer announces the arrest, announces the crime of arrest, and then reads the suspect Miranda rights. But these are not actually constitutionally required. As the Court explained in Devenpeck v. Alford, 543 U.S. 146 (2004): “While it is assuredly good police practice to inform a person of the reason for his arrest at the time he is taken into custody, we have never held that to be constitutionally required.” In Devenpeck, the Court rejected a requirement that probable cause for an arrest must be measured by reference to the offense that the officer named at the time of arrest. Such a rule was improper because it hinged on the subjective belief of the officer, and because it would have “perverse” consequences:
SNIP
Finally, although it’s not directly at issue in the Eltahawy arrest, it might be helpful to point out a similarly widespread but mistaken belief that officers must read arrestees their Miranda rights. There is no right to be read Miranda rights on arrest. Miranda merely impacts what statements are admissible in response to police questioning after arrest or its functional equivalent. If the police don’t want to question the person, or if they want to question the person but either don’t want to use the statements at trial or they think one of many exceptions to Miranda will apply, they are free not to read the suspect Miranda rights. See generally Chavez v. Martinez, 538 U.S. 760 (2003).

Once and for all, the tea partiers are not part of the solution they are part of the problem. Why will they vote GOP? They act like 1%’ers. Tycoon offers HK$500 million to wed ‘married’ daughter
By Vivian Kam and Kevin Voigt, CNN

The tycoon’s offer came after Chinese media reports last week that she married another woman, her long-time companion Sean Eav, in a civil ceremony in Paris last week. Asked by CNN to confirm her civil union, Chao said she was “not in a position to verify that.”
Her father, however, was unequivocal, telling CNN “reports of Gigi being married is not true, it’s a rumor.” However, he did confirm that he is offering the multi-million dollar bounty for a future son-in-law: Any nationality or wealth of the suitor is fine, the only requirement is that the man “loves my daughter, and she loves him.”
SNIP
The 76-year-old tycoon himself has never married, and has long earned a reputation on the pages of local newspapers and magazines in the arms of beautiful women, having once bragged of having had 10,000 girlfriends, the South China Morning Post reported.

Richard,
I see you are blaming the “tea party” for the ills of the country. Is that what we are to expect for the next four years (if by some freak mishap obama is reelected)?
It still amazes me that liberals take no responsibility for the negative consequences of their actions.
If the GDP numbers keep going in the direction this administration’s policies are taking them we will be back in a full blown recession by the time the next president is inaugurated.
I would bet if Romney wins he will not “blame obama for the next four years”. But I wonder if obama wins will he blame himself for the mess he has created?
Every day the wingnuts spend on the Libya blame-game drives another nail into the GOP campaign coffin. President Obama is opening double-digit leads in the battleground states while Fox tries to create another Fast and Furious. Who’s minding the store?
Kristen,
if you suggesting that the spending in red vs blue is all “welfare spending” you should take a deeper look at the numbers.
Once you do, I think you might find a lot of areas where you would agree with Romney/Ryan that a flatter tax with less deductions and subsidies would be fairer to all.
By and large, the federal government spends significant more dollars in “red” states than in “blue” states. And “blue” states remit more in taxes.
Red states freeload off the blue states. This isn’t anything new.

Your post has some semblance of sanity until this line. Rape is not ethical; neither is degrading the Oval office of the President of the United States by crude cigar games, disbarmment as an attorney for perjury or being impeached as POTUS.
If you really understood ethics you would not be using your CPA designation while posting on a blog unless it does stand for Confused,
Perplexed and Addled.
Mighty quiet in WingnutWorld today. Reuters has Obama up by 7.
Once again the hypocrisy of the Republicans is placed front and center over the Todd Akin fiasco. In an insincere attempt to play down Akin’s ignorance, the RNC, the Republican Senatorial campaiogn committee, numerous senators and Republican officeholders, and the Romney /Ryan campaign all denounced Akin and tried to force him to drop off the ticket to run. He blatantply told them al where to get off and refused to step down. Now they are all starting to backtrack and talk about throwing money his way and talking about how he isn’t such a bad candidate after all. None of them were sincere in their criticism of him toi start with. It was all just a ploy to try to hang onto votes and minimize te damage he was doing to their brand
Mike O you did not read my post. I said the Tea Party is to blame for Romney’s defeat. You took the GOT to the wacko right and are now sucking wind
Not that a right winger should ever pass up a chance to slander Obama, but the fact remains: “The FCC’s LifeLine Assistance program was set up in the ’90s to help low-income families with monthly landline bills. Over the past few years, the program has put more than 12 million wireless feature phones into the hands of low-income Americans.”

In the 90′s that Republican Congress Suzie is always bragging on had a veto proof majority on Clinton. So Technically, Clinton and the GOP gave her that phone.
President Obama is opening double-digit leads in the battleground states
Only Oprah-watching morons believe that. Rasmussen who was the closest in 2008 has Romney up by two when leaners are counted, and Romney up by 8 in Ohio on who’s better with the economy.
Dan, Kristen,
Let’s take your argument on face value (which anyone who knows economics would disagree)
However, is it hypocritical on your part to spout that the “suggested needy” not be taken care of by the “supposed wealthy”?
Or does hypocrisy not matter if it comes from the left?
Obama’s going to win because Rmoney is a horrible, terrible, incompetent candidate.
The big problem for you, sweetcakes, is the election is about 0bama, not Romney. People will show up in droves to get rid of the guy who’s destroying the country.
No Suzie Q, Bush wasn’t brilliant for 6.5 years. He and his Republican colleagues chose to stop paying down the national debt and end the pay as you go rules for the federal budget. If you think a 14,000 DOW and 4.5% unemployment wasn’t great, that’s up to you, I guess. But notice every Bush transgression you mention, 0bama is doing much more and much worse. And yet you still want to vote for him?
Oh, please. Not the stupid-assed ‘blue-states support red-states’ garbage again. I thought we’d dispelled that once and for all.
To summarize, the producers in the blue states are the conservatives and the takers in the red states are the liberals. The big-city ghettos, bastion of 0bama votes do not subsidize anybody; it’s the corporate conservatives that populate those cities who carry the load. The South, which you people hold up high as evidence of red-state failure are also the states most populated by minorities who leech most of the public services and who vote most heavily for 0bama.
Never allow a leftwinger to handle a statistic. They tend to hurt themselves.

Civil rights dominate Supreme Court term
By Pete Williams, NBC News Justice Correspondent
The U.S. Supreme Court term that begins Monday promises to be one of the most important for civil rights in decades, with the potential for blockbuster decisions on issues from race in classrooms and the voting booth to legal recognition for same-sex marriage.
SNIP [some very good background]
Among other questions the justices will confront:
- Must police get a search warrant before taking a blood sample from a suspected drunk driver?
- How far can police go in using drug-sniffing dogs outside someone’s house?
- Can a 1789 law, the Alien Tort Statute, be used to bring lawsuits in US courts for violations of international law that occur in other countries?
- And, in an issue of growing interest to U.S. businesses, should more limits be placed on the ability to bring class-action lawsuits?

Election May Decide When Interrogation Amounts to Torture
By CHARLIE SAVAGE
Published: September 27, 2012 277 Comments
WASHINGTON — Neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney has said much about torture as part of terrorism investigations during the 2012 general campaign. But the future of American government practices when interrogating high-level terrorism suspects appears likely to turn on the outcome of the election.
In one of his first acts, President Obama issued an executive order restricting interrogators to a list of nonabusive tactics approved in the Army Field Manual. Even as he embraced a hawkish approach to other counterterrorism issues — like drone strikes, military commissions, indefinite detention and the Patriot Act — Mr. Obama has stuck to that strict no-torture policy.
By contrast, Mr. Romney’s advisers have privately urged him to “rescind and replace President Obama’s executive order” and permit secret “enhanced interrogation techniques against high-value detainees that are safe, legal and effective in generating intelligence to save American lives,” according to an internal Romney campaign memorandum.

As has happened numerous times, Girl’s blog comments have presaged those from Rush Limbaugh. It makes you feel pretty darned smart when you beat America’s greatest journalist to the punch.
Last night as I was trying comfort Terps by pointing out that since MSM outlets have demonstrated total corruption and bias towards 0bama, WHY wouldn’t they use their own polls as just one more tool to promote their liberal agenda. They have already shown they are willing to selectively edit, and indeed produce fake documents, so why wouldn’t they lie in their polls?
Why am I not surprised that pammala and her little friend denial still think the White House should be as reactionary and quick to condemn as they are even as people are still vulnerable.
On Sept 12, the President said, “…No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Frankly, we are not in a position to speak any further to the perpetrators of this attack. It was clearly a complex attack. We’re going to have to do a full investigation”
Do you have ANY evidence that he ever denied it was a terrorist attack?

“The big problem for you, sweetcakes, is the election is about 0bama, not Romney. People will show up in droves to get rid of the guy who’s destroying the country.”
The Suzester has it partway right. The election SHOULD HAVE BEEN about Obama. It should have been a referendum on the job he has done since 2009. That was the GOP’s best shot to unseat him, and the Republicans in Congress worked as hard as they could work to make him fail, and the country fail, too.
And recently as April and May they thought this was a slam dunk. Alas, reality –and Mitt Romney’s apparent genetic predisposition for bizarre gaffes — intruded. Those started in the GOP primaries, with the $10,000 bet Romney challenged Rick Perry to in the middle of a GOP debate. And they’ve continued ever since.
Romney sympathizes with an unemployed family — “hey, I’m unemployed, too!”
“Corporations are people, my friend … of course they are!”
Romney doesn’t get why windows on airliner won’t open.
“I like being able to fire people who provide services to me.”
“I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there.”
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. … My job is not to worry about those people.”
“My dad, as you probably know, was the governor of Michigan and was the head of a car company. But he was born in Mexico… and had he been born of, uh, Mexican parents, I’d have a better shot at winning this. But he was unfortunately born to Americans living in Mexico. He lived there for a number of years. I mean, I say that jokingly, but it would be helpful to be Latino.”
On his first foreign trip as a presidential candidate, he went to Britain and trashed the logistics and security for the Olympics.
“I believe in an America where millions of Americans believe in an America that’s the America millions of Americans believe in. That’s the America I love.”
“When you give a speech you don’t go through a laundry list, you talk about the things that you think are important.” — Romney’s response when asked why he didn’t mention American troops in his convention speech.
“He [Obama] says we need more firemen, more policemen, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”
“I’ll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry’s come back.” Romney, after GM & Chrysler & Ford rebounded, following an essay he publishing the New York Times headlined: “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.”
“[My wife] drives a couple of Cadillacs.”
“I’m not sure about these cookies. They don’t look like you made them. No, no. They came from the local 7/11 bakery, or whatever.” Romney, in a visit to a local bakery in Pittsburgh. The bakery owner last said he was offended.
“I like those fancy raincoats you bought. Really sprung for the big bucks.” Romney to a bunch of NASCAR fans wearing plastic ponchos at the rain-soaked Daytona 500.
“We have a president, who I think is a nice guy, but he spent too much time at Harvard, perhaps.” What Romney, who has two Harvard degrees, said of Obama, who has one.
“I get speaker’s fees from time to time, but not very much.” Romney earned $374,000 in speakers fees in one year.

Alas, reality –and Mitt Romney’s apparent genetic predisposition for bizarre gaffes — intruded.
These “gaffes” were creations of the media. 0bama has made many more serious “gaffes” that totally ignored by the media. 0bama’s media has made it their business to divert 100% of the attention away from 0bama’s record and magnify every little thing Romney does and portray it as a negative.
Is Dan so insulated and biased he doesn’t notice this?
And a recent one, Rmoney on “60 Minutes”:
Uninsured people don’t have to die of heart attacks, they can call an ambulance and it will come to their apartment and take them to the emergency room.
(Notice the mindset that uninsured people all live in apartments. Peasants!)
Vegas is betting on Obama. You know what they say about denial…
Leon, I have had it with idiots like you hiding in anonymity and attacking people with the integrity to put their names to their posts. You are a coward and have no credibility to call out anyone, not even Clinton.
80% of the liberal nuts don’t sign their names. LIke for instance, who the hell is “Gdad”? Where is Kristen’s last name? How come you don’t blab about those people?
Romney is clearly on a roll:

#60 Yeah, suzie was waaay ahead on how Obama would step in and settle the Chicago teachers strike, and how the Giles 10 Commandments case would become a big winning issue in the presidential election, and how the MSM would gang up on Boeheim and Coach K, and how one of the far right candidates would take the Repub nomination, and… Well, I didn’t keep a record of all the troll’s failed “predictions.”
Looks like we’ll have another to add to it in November.
holy cow, Leon! you got two of’em with one post! the first was that cpa…well done!
The second was ol’ dano’s monger from way back….you got her spinning so fast, she’s fallen down and can’t get up!
Well done, man.
Comment by Dan Casey — September 27, 2012 @ 9:51 pm
Good grief, Dan! It looks like Romney has amassed a list of Quayle-like proportions. That’s probably not a good thing when you haven’t gotten the job yet, huh?
Yeah Suz, I remember. Obama said 57 states and “corpse” and Polish death camps. You RWers have been crackin on this blog for more than 3 years about that stuff.
We should have a thread about Suze’s predictions. She’s so consistently 100 percent wrong that we might be able to make some money off them, if we could find a bookmaker to take that action.
Keep showing your ignorance. I appreciate it!
Suzie the self-evident “genius”, you and your “low effort” pards complain about the bias Dan shows and his “liberal water-carrying” and how awful it is that we refuse to swallow your right wing lies like your klatch ladies do. You figure it out.
Oh hell, that’ll never happen. Gdad and Kristen are not the trolls here. You lying people are. Almost without exception you came in like lying banshees and have yet to let up. Hell yes we can and do give it back exponentially but it is earned. You all have the option to stop being fools any time you like.
Dan, ever notice how YOU (and we) are supposed to include Obama’s faults, mistakes and gaffes, answer for them even, but they never have to mention, acknowledge or answer for Romney’s?
Nothing on earth says right wing lies, ignorance and distorted beliefs have to be respected or granted “equal time”. Their insistence that they should be is why FAUX News and right wing media exist. It is not and never has been about the truth, they do not value truth, it has always been about spin.
Speaking of denial. From FDL, Down is up, on Uranus.
Sandi, there is hope.
I had lengthy conversations with two readers today, who contacted me out of the blue. One is a born-again Christian woman from Blue Ridge, the other is a WW2 veteran from Roanoke. Both bemoaned the nasty hate machine RWers have cooked up against Obama in the past four years, and all the crazy lies they tell — the sort of stuff in that email from “Randy” and in comments posted by mike O, Frank and Leon.
Most of the voters out there aren’t bigoted and irrational suckers like those folks are.
65.Leon. Perhaps a.course in comprehension would be appropriate.
Comment by Richard J Beason CPA — September 27, 2012 @ 9:46 pm
Whatever course you can take to get you over your delusional liberal state of mind would, IMO, be beneficial to you. Surely you will be able
to discover that Clinton and Ethical do not mix. Not the worst president we have had but the worst man that’s ever been president. Odiot could
surpass the low life but first we need to discover who and what he is since he refuses to reveal his past records. All we have are his books and absolute certainty that he lies (Libya 2012).
63.Leon, I have had it with idiots like you hiding in anonymity and attacking people with the integrity to put their names to their posts. You are a coward and have no credibility to call out anyone, not even Clinton.

Frankly, my dear, I do not give a xxxx. It’s a blog, get over it.
No Friday OPEN thread yet, so I’ll wish everyone a happy Friday here! New day, new adventures, new hope! Think I’ll take a little walk on the new greenway here in Salem to start this great day.

GWB restored some dignity to the office of POTUS after the degradation of
same by Clinton. Then Odiot took office; Chicago thug politics is never
described using the word nice or civil or polite.
As to civility I would suggest a comparison of Tea Party demonstrations versus Occupy demonstrations. Tea Party events are marked by large, enthused crowds making a political point but very little, if any, violent actions or need for any kind of police action. Occupy events are
marked by violence, degradation of any building, park or other structure they choose, and include numerous incidents of violence, rape and thuggery and, more often than not, have to be broken up by police action.
Yes there is hope. Romney can win, the DOJ can be restored to an objective and equal under the law basis for all. The criticism you site
regarding the Odiot administration is completely warranted. This administration considers itself above the law as evidenced by the actions
of DHS, DOJ, ATF, and departments of State and Treasury. The new DOJ will be very busy following up on all their activities and, I suspect,
we will need to build a new prison.
For your information I am not a bigot nor irrational. IMO, liberalism is
solidly based on both of these negative attributes. It is a known Alinsky type tactic to accuse the opposition of the very same vile and corrupt actions and attributes which your side participates in vigorously. Your post, Dan, will not hunt as you are the bigot and irrational one.
Hope Sandi feels better.
77.Keep showing your ignorance. I appreciate it!

Sandi, believe this option applies to you also.
44.By and large, the federal government spends significant more dollars in “red” states than in “blue” states. And “blue” states remit more in taxes.
Comment by Dan Casey — September 27, 2012 @ 5:39 pm
This little ditty is a factor of population which, in the blues states, is far denser (no pun intended). However, one should remember that the
Federal government owns a huge amount of land, mostly in red states.
Therefore, it is irrational to accept the premise made that red state citizens are receiving more spending than blue state citizens. CA is sucking down tax dollars like a huge toilet bowl on continual flush.
Anyone still defending Bush as “brilliant” and “winner” of the Iraq War is certifiable. Historian Kenneth C. Davis gives him an F and truly, he ought to know.
Comment by Sandi Saunders — September 27, 2012 @ 1:00 pm
A quote from the review of Davis’ book you linked:
Davis occasionally flashes an attitude, taking a shot at one of Michelle Bachmann’s campaign claims about the Founding Fathers and slavery,
So, in a book about Presidents…Davis…has a diatribe about Bachmann (who has not been President). Sandi, maybe you should read some of these
books you link. BTW, historians are supposed to be objective and not prone to having an “attitude” about their subject matter.
Where is Kristen’s last name? How come you don’t blab about those people?

“Pot meet Kettle.”
1. That was the plan. Rush foiled it.
2. I explained that. I was dead-on again. Dan erased it, probably because I was right.
3 I was dead-on with Coach K on this still-unfolding case, and you can’t stand it.
4. I never predicted anybody but Romney would win the nomination.
I notice you never make predictions, Gdad. Like all liberals, you’re good at taking shots at doers while you sit on your ass.
The media is about advertising, ratings and readership. It’s not about truth or news. Probably hasn’t ever been that way. Look at Orson Welles and William Herst. Lie, twist, bend, create, it doesn’t matter, tomorrows a new day and a new headline. Both sides do it. I like the President, I’m not voting for him because no one deserves 8 years, but the media doesn’t care about people like me. It doesn’t push a narrative on either side.
Wow. Lots of liberal posts after midnight. I like to call 12 to 4 a.m. the ‘loser’ slot.
#70 Several people on the blog know who gdad is. I’m perfectly happy that you’re not one of them.
#76 There are times I wish I had kept track of all of suzie’s failed predictions, but I don’t really have THAT much time to spare. And it’s not worth the extra external hard drive I would have needed.
Thanks be to God!
Thanks Dan, I needed that encouragement. I got mostly positive feedback from my commentary the Roanoke Times published too. Thanks to some friends, it went out of Roanoke and Virginia! It does give me hope that the bad guys will not win. I just do not understand people who so willingly believe what can so easily be disproved and vice versa who then belligerently claim intelligence. It does not compute.
I know the motives of he BIG business backers, I cannot fathom Leon, Suzie, matt, pammala, Pistol Pete et al will gain anything from their hate.
Oh poor GOP faithful. They’re forced to cook up nonsense like this gem from “Pete” DuPont. Equal measures of delusion and complete and utter delusion.

‘Of course elections are won in the Electoral College, where becoming president requires reaching at least 270 votes. According to the latest RealClearPolitics.com summary, at the moment Mr. Obama seems to have a base of 179 and Mr. Romney of 150. That leaves Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia for the major battles, although Ohio and Pennsylvania currently lean toward Obama.”
“Lean” towards Obama? His lead in Ohio is over 5 points. His lead in Pennsylvania is over 8 points. He also leads in Virginia, Florida, Iowa, Wisconsin,Nevada, and even leads in North Carolina today.
Then he, classily, goes on to pimp out the dead Ambassador – apparently the GOP braintrust has decided that Rmoney’s “path to victory” is paved wtih dead State Department personnel.
“The polls are volatile and close, and neither candidate has a lock on the Electoral College math.”
Yeah “Pete”…one of them does. Guess which? RCP’s map doesn’t show Obama with a “Base of 179″ or whatever number you pulled out of your butt. He’s got 265. It’s over, babe.

Romney And GOP Paying Millions To Firms Tied To Voter Fraud Allegation Scandals
by David Badash on September 27, 2012
Mitt Romney and the GOP have paid several firms with a long history of voter fraud allegations, and a man named Nathan Sproul — who runs most or all of them – more than $2 million recently for “voter registration” in key swing and battleground states, according to reports out today. Some of the firms, Grassroots Outreach, LLC, and Strategic Allied Consulting, share the same address in Tempe, Arizona and seem to be shell companies, according to a report, while Sproul clearly runs others, like Sproul & Associates and Lincoln Strategies.
The $2 million plus does not include these groups’ activities going back at least to 2004. Nathan Sproul (image, top) runs Strategic Allied Consulting, and possibly Grassroots Outreach, LLC.

Elections supervisor suspects voter registration fraud in Palm Beach County
Group filing forms got $1M from Fla. GOP
By: Evan Axelbank
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – Palm Beach County Elections Supervisor Susan Bucher has sent 106 voter registration forms to the state attorney’s office because she says they were doctored.
The forms were submitted by Strategic Allied Consultants, a voter registration group hired by state Republicans, for more than a million dollars, to sign-up new voters.

In fairness, the GOP has fired the company, once the news could not be contained.
However, can you picture the RWer’s faux indignation, had Strategic Allied Consultants been in anyway associated with the DEMs?
“I had lengthy conversations with two readers today, ”
Do they both live in your head?
Looks like Leon was really pumped up this morning.
81. Leon, you are so excited to make stupid comments, you can’t read. That’s why I said you need a course in comprehension. Look back and you will see that I was not complementary of Bill Clinton’s lack of discretion. At the same time, he should be proud that he has turned such around is doing tremendous things around the world. He did not let the scandal ruin him.
You seem to have a problem with mistrust and hate and are so busy spreading venom that you can’t even read. That is a shame. Get some help.
#976 THAT vote fraud benefits Republicans, so it’s not really fraud. Just like the absentee ballot fraud they’ve done nothing about.
The evidence is absolutely overwhelming — right wingers are primarily concerned with making it harder for likely Democratic voters to cast a ballot. “Fraud” is a cover.
#90 Hee, hee, somebody making bad predictions is a “doer”?
suzie, the rest of us are well aware that either you or Rash (I don’t listen to Rash so I don’t know what he said) quickly realized that his Obama intervention prediction was pure BS, so the foiling the plot declaration was needed. Either way, Rash is “right.” Sort of clever, but transparent as hell.
Now go ahead and point out to us how the Ten Commandments case has become a major factor in the election. I know Dan will allow it. If you don’t post it, we’ll all know you were just lying yet again.
#92 suzie economics: If you want to be successful, make sure you’re asleep between midnight and 4. Doctors, nurses, public safety officers, military personnel, businessmen whose business is on the other side of the world, entrepreneurs whose businesses stay open all night, folks in the entertainment world — all losers.
#92:
12pm-4am (EST) = 6/7am-10/11am (in the Mid-East), 9am-1pm (Lahore).
Small wonder that a poster stupid enough to frequently refer to themself in the third person also thinks that nothing important happens during their personal nighttime.
What a stupid poster.
In October 2010, Morgan Griffith was down 10 points in the polls to Rick Boucher in the 9th district.
I like polls!
hey folks, how ya doin?! by the way, did you’uns catch the part in Wednesday’s RTS, where McClatchy-Tribune said in their article on page 5, “The protests and riots that rattled cities across the Arab world two weeks ago over an anti-Islam movie produced in California have put the president unexpectedly on his heels….”? Was McClatchy SERIOUS? hey you libs, please answer.
Were the RTS and McClatchy not yet aware that the principle promoters of the bad video which Dear Leader made repeated reference to in his UN speech, were in fact, Dear Leader and his water-carrier clinton in chief? Why, yes they were aware of that fact….they just preferred to HIDE it…
By the way, did that same McClatchy piece published in the Roanoke Times on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, give any meaningful space to the terrorist attack in Libya on 9/11, which was known to and forcefully commented on by Romney on Wednesday, September 12? Nope. Dear Leader blamed the terrorist attack on that video. As Dear Leader goes, so goes the lib press, and ol’ danos’ lemmings…
Now, how ’bout a 30-column incher from ol’ dano on what obama was REALLY sayin’ at the UN… 2 weeks after the deadly-to-Americans Libya terrorist attack, and based on reports available to Dear Leader at the time? Hey, ol’ dano, you can ad in excerpts from the killed and brutalized Ambassador Stevens’ journal, if’n you’d like. By the way, HOW DID those dastardly CNN journalists manage to make off with that personal journal, anyway? I thought Dear Leader’s FBI guys and gals were on the ground and “getting to the bottom of it all”, ya know? Oops on that, eh?
Are you game for the 30-column incher of explanation, ol’ dano?
By way of forthrightly self-correcting a mis-type in a post from earlier today, since I don’t suffer from Cheney’s disease (the inability to admit any mistakes, even those that are minor and clearly no indication of a lack of comprehension), and despite the fact that a less honest person might otherwise try to avoid calling attention to it and hope to see it pass unnoticed:
In the formula above make that 12am-4am, per the other poster’s original. (Notice that the original poster #92 failed to specify which “12″ they were referring to, so the poster made the same mistake by a different means). I blame my own p.m.s.-afternoon senescence-for my inattention to that detail. Humorless, reactionary types who compulsively ridicule others for minor flaws are welcome to pretend that it matters.
Yep, The “loser slot” fer shure!

Good thing you have that strict cut off loser!
Yes, Leon was so pumped that he helped prove every indictment I delivered and his own bombastic ignorance as well. That’s what they call a twofer!
Frank remains unable to converse in the language of his alleged heritage and shows a remarkable propensity to fall for lies over truth 10 out of 10 times. That has to be part of the club requirements it sure seems typical.
You keep that smile plastered on Pistol Pete!
“30-column incher” – TWICE!
Gah! Frank, you make me want to find you and wreck your keyboard with a chainsaw.
Do me a huge favor, please: open up NotePad and copy and paste the following to it: “30-inch column”. Make sure you save it as “Casey_pseudo-insult_1.txt” and put it on your desktop.
Now, any of the 482 times that you’ll use that old chestnut in the next two weeks, just open that file and copypasta that bad boy right in there. It’s perfectly okay to just leave the file open, too; it might just stick in your head automagically. Thanks in advance, guy!
As an aside (sort of), you know how if you tell the same joke over and over and over again it eventually loses all meaning and impact and you start looking a little insane? Yeah…
Hope you’re doing well, cheesestick.
Frank and his fixation with a 30-inchers make me wonder if he’s been overdosing on Long Dong Silver flicks.
Have you and your buddy Clarence Thomas been screening a Long Dong marathon, Frank?
hey dano, PLEASE tell J.M and I why YOU penned the phrase “30 inch column”, or “30 column inches” in your reference to your “up-coming column” telling Roanokers what Dear Leader REALLY was saying during his waterloo speech in Roanoke, back in July…., you know, it was all about what he REALLY meant when he said, “you didn’t build that”!
Hey J.M., as long as someone out there goes “Gah” after reading my post, well, i figure i’ve done my job. it keeps the blood flowing on my part, and if i get someone so pissed off that their blood rages theough their arteries, and they survive, they’ll be better off because their artery walls will be scraped clear of plaque. i consider it a public service.
and, i do feel your pain.
hey sandi,
maybe YOU can explain to us how those dastardly CNN journalists discovered Amassador Steven’s personal journal at the burned out Consulate, …which Romney correctly referred to as a Terrorist Attack within hours after it occured …..and the good ol’ FBI agents failed to find and secure said journal?
Did I just state a lie? 2 lies? more? which were lies?
Would you like to discuss what CNN has released from Ambassador Steven’s personal journal thus far?
Frank, I believe I explained already that our days of “interaction”, meaning me taking your crap seriously and replying like you deserve it, were over. I reply in the kicks and jabs YOU deserve, nothing more.
As you prove, a blind squirrel can find his nuts, that does not make him a mighty hunter.
Frank, the problem is that when you massacre the English language like you do, your message gets lost. What’s worse is that it makes it easy to question your level of intelligence.
I know you’re not unintelligent. You’re obsessive, tunnel-visioned and a sub-par wordsmith, but you’re not an imbecile. Help us read your message, Frank… by making your message readable.
Frank reminds me more and more of Frank Burns from M*A*S*H with each new post he makes. We should refer to him as Ferret-Face.
Florida…38% Republican, 40% Democrat…The Washington Post(yes, the LIBERAL WP)has Democrats out-polled by 6 points and yet the LIBERAL MEDIA would have you believe that obama is dominating the election….CNN/ORC poll fom Sept 10 massively under-samples independents while it over-samples Democratic voters….With all of the skewed polls and cheating/trickery from the LEFT, thier ideas are obviously very unpopular…and they must know it….Just listen for the lies from them…they`re everywhere !!CONCENTRATE…the ECONOMY !!
Love what the obama campaign came out with…“The President will have a little bit of time to review and practice before the debates, BUT he has had to balance the management of world events(;>}), governing, time out campaigning and will have LESS time than we anticipated to sharpen and cut down his tendency to give long, substanive answers“. And the FINAL Collapse begins.
With all of the skewed polls on the LEFT, the trickery/cheating, the fact that they don`t want anyone to have to provide ID before they vote, it appears to me, and anyone else with an iota of common sense, that the LEFT must have some really UNPOPULAR ideas….`Minorities have a hard time getting an ID“…Why is that ? Transportation ? Bet they don`t have a problem getting a ride to the voting booth ! THE ECONOMY IS THE WORST ITS EVER BEEN…TIME TO TAKE OUT THE TRASH.
Looks like sandi saunders decided that this `cess-pool` of a site isn`t so bad after all…Welcome back saunders…Your Leftist-bile fits perfectly ….for those out of reality.
awright, J.M. I’ll bee clearer in the future.

hey dano, tell us why you coined that 30 inch column thingy-phrase back in mid-to-late July. that’ll clear up your, and other idiots, interest concerning the origin of that phrase. c’mon, dano, share some of that knowledge with us, eh?
can ya, can ya, can ya PU-LEEZE do it, ol’ dano?
