Put your thoughts about Obama’s speech here
Hope . . . and humility? It’s all about you?
Tell us what you thought of President Obama’s speech tonight.
I thought it was a good one, and that he rightly used it as an opportunity to define the differences between the Republican and Democratic tickets.
But Obama was clearly upstaged by Bill Clinton the night before.
How about you?

Horriable empty suit speech. It was a vision with no plan. Worse speech I have ever heard the President make. President Clinton was much better.
But Obama was clearly upstaged by Bill Clinton the night before.
Maybe in the number of times he used the word “i”. My God, have there ever been two more narcissistic men in the same room? Both take credit for things they had nothing to do with, and both blame others when they need to accept responsibility.
Let’s look at some more similarities.
1. Both had mothers who were of questionable morals.
2. Both had absentee no-good fathers.
3. Both are pathological liars.
4. Both smoked pot.
5. Both did cocaine.
6. Both throw a baseball like a girl.
7. Neither has ever done a damn thing in the private sector.
8. Both married ugly women.
9. Both are subject to temper tantrums.
10 Both escaped military service.
11. Both are likely serial philanderers. We know Clinton is. I’d bet a hundred bucks 0bama is, too. He has all the other characteristics.
A speech deliverer he is not, too much like mundane Jimmy Carter. If Clinton were running again, he would probably win this thing by a landslide but I am afraid if I were basing the election on Obama’s speech, Romney would win in a landslide. Wish I hadn’t watched it.
I feel compelled to point out that the poster “Kendra” has posted recently from the same IP address, and using the same email, as Barry, Cameron Lite, John Calvin, Mr. Goodwretch and Jarod.
Whoever you are, please stick one anonymous ID in the future.
The empty suit gave speech that was emptier than the empty chair last week. Same old same old nothing new. Bye bye Barry!
The President completely summed up the Republican philosophy and their answer to every prpoblem with this one line:
“Catching a cold? Take two tax cuts, roll back a few regulations, and call me in the morning.”
That’s all they’ve got.
The C linton and Obama speeches had two totally different purposes. And I guarantee you this was not by accident. Clinton took the necessary time to deliver the real facts to a country that had been fed a pack of lies and distortions the week before in Tampa by Ryan/Romney. The Obam speech was designed to set a tone, establish a vision of the kind of country we need to be and who we are as citizens. It ws shorter, more succinct, and inspirationalBoth accomplished their purposes. And comparing the Obama speech to the thudball delivered by Romney last week was like reading a statistical analysis of farm commodities pricing, compared to listening to poetry designed to uplift and inspire. I’m not sure what speech Kendra listened to but Obama is one of the most effective people at delivering a speech I have ever heard.
nother great line tonight was delivered by John Kerry who made a very effective and excellent speech. After taking Romney to task for being on four different sides of the Afghanistan/Iraq/Libya policy issues Kerry said “If I could give Mr Romney one piece of advice before he attempts to debate Barack Obama on foreign polcy it would be this: Finish debating yourself first”.
If Suzie were half as intelligent, accomplished, and at least in the case of Michelle Obama attractive, as Michelle and Hillary Clinton, she wouldn’t find it necessary to make disparaging remarks about them showing how jealous and envious she is of them.
A much more substantial convention than the Republicans. The God and Jerusalem gaffe was totally unnecessary and highlights the Democrat’s amazing ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Clinton upstaged because people remember and associate with good times had before George W. Bush started two unnecessary wars and led the country to the brink of financial ruin. It’s all going according to plan, make Obama the face of the recession, obstruct the recovery by any means necessary, hide your true agenda using smoke and mirrors, throw enough money into false repetitive advertising and hope the American voter is too busy watching Dancing With the Stars to make the intelligent decision. The president’s speech showcased the cold political reality of holding the most powerful office on Earth when the country is up for sale to the highest bidder. B-.
I am much like Obama and Bill Clinton, I have multiple personalities so I can tell the people whatever they want to hear.
See you around, Dan. Disqus doesn’t support my browser and I’ll be damned if I’m buying more software just to keep commenting. RT keeps alienating users, not too bright in my book…
Hitler was a fantastic speaker, too.
enjoyed and was inspired. Great job, Mr. President.
LYPOCRISY…a unique combination of lies and liberal hypocrisy. He suggested the Republicans would make it difficult to cast votes while,
even as he speaks, this Administration is stifling the military vote by
not establishing the required offices for military stationed overseas
to register and cast absentee ballots (only about 1/2 of the bases have the required offices established by an act passed during this administration).
LYPOCRISY…everyone in attendance at the speech had to show ID to gain entrance while the DOJ under this administration wastes taxpayer dollars to litigate against voter ID laws designed to hinder voter fraud.
LYPOCRISY… Mr. Obama states “I am President”; but are you eligible? The politically motivated DOJ investigation of Sherriff Joe Arpaio resulted in zip, zero, nada charges yet nothing is brought forward to refute the factual evidence that the birth certificate posted on line is a fraud. Why would a “President” post a forged birth certicate?
LYPOCRISY…Mr. Obama says the Republicans will not tell you their plan to
resolve America’s problems while revealing nothing about his agenda for a second term.
Hahaha, well played Kendra. What year is this? Weren’t the dems selling the same snake oil in 08? The whole thing was staged. From the tears to the close ups, look at the ties, the pins, the people, if you believe anything from the conventions. It’s as real as pro wrestling.
Did anybody see over half of the democrat delegation boo god and Jerusalem the other day? You didn’t pull your spin muscle did you Dan? I hadn’t heard a peep out of you regarding a pretty substantial story from the DNC.
BTW Obama should have brought Michelle out with him, that speech was yawntastic!
Tha fact checkers have declared the statistics that Clinton quoted at the DNC to be correct. Can’t say the same about Lyin’ Ryan.
Was this a rerun from 2008. It is hard for me to tell how successful the speech was until I get the results of people fainting.
Slick Willie threw Barry under the bus in only a way Bill can.
this guy is GREAT! he should take over for the guy we got now!
i’ve heard it said that you can get ELECTED on hope…but not RE-ELECTED…
True to his self-absorbed nature, Bill Clinton undermined 0bama’s woeful track record by basically saying “0bama hasn’t done any of the great things I did such as working with Congress and cutting spending”.
Never mind Clinton had to be forced to cut his massive spending plans and adopt the GOP agenda of frugality and tax cuts. In other words, he lied. No surprise there. But there are enough dunderheads on the left who believe the rewrite and actually think Clinton had something to do with the 90s boom. And to those people, Clinton’s comparison between himself and 0bama made the latter look even worse.
By all accounts, 0bama blew it with a poor speech last night. Kind of a fitting exclamation point to his presidency. He basically whined he hasn’t had enough time to totally ruin the economy.
8.1% Unemployed….directly due to the FACT that 368,000 just had to quit looking for work…America needs to go back to work.
#6…Lets hear the lies that Romney/Ryan are spreading…along with some PROOF, please…Everybody….take a look at this Country`s Economy !! It is a TOTAL DISASTER….In the TANK…and these morons want you to believe that they can get it done….“just give us 4 more years“…No, Thanks…the 4 first is proof in the pudding…Barrak said herself ..“If I can`t get it done in 3.5 years, Its a one-term deal“. Well, thats the one thing he has gotten right.
Bureau of Labor…U6 unemployment 14.7% Labor Participation rate 65%.lowest in 31 years.
96K jobs created in August. June employment numbers revised downward 41k.
Guess another of no “Summer of job recovery”..Joe Biden stated in 2010 500K Jobs a month..must be a cumulative number 2010-2012
His speech was as empty as the chair Clint brought on stage. He re-stated HIS vision for the country (for the umpteenth time), the problem is he never explains HOW we will get there.
“Our’s is a future filled with Hope?”
Are you kidding me?
And good thing they put “God” back in the platform or he wouldn’t have been able to finish his speech.
#9…Why Dave, I believe it is you that is jealous of Suzie…At least she can prove her talking points….Now, why don`t you and Dan, Gdud, little Stevie C, and the rest of your ilk go and play w/ you obama decoder rings….during the commercial breaks of the `Simpsons`, of course.
I see the parrots are out in force. Sadly the republicans know only how to tear down – whether safety nets, businesses, the American spirit or the speeches of Clinton and Obama. That is why republicans will lose in November – republicans aspire to only two things…more money and more tax breaks for their wealthy constituents.
Two burning questions for the RWers: Where are Romney’s tax returns and where, in his tepid 37 minute acceptance speech, was there any mention of the men in women in uniform and their continued sacrifices in Afghanistan?
To borrow a line that a friend used…the summary of Obama’s speech in one word: Mulligan!
Rarely has failure been so well lit. …Michelle Malkin
#22 “By suzie’s account, 0bama blew it…” There fixed it.
If Obama had outdone the Gettysburg Address last night you would have said the same thing.
#27 Prove her talking point? You really are a Dolto. We killed suzie’s talking points half a dozen times just yesterday. And now she’s making us s— about Obama’s sex life. suzie is getting flat-out hysterical and it’s showing in her wingnut posts.
#26 “Our’s is a future filled with Hope?” Are you kidding me?”
Pssst. Somebody give Walker the memo. Since their convention, Republicans are filled with joy and optimism and, yes, hope.
#11 Wow, Kendra, that actually sounds a lot more like Romney. Or have you just ignored the multiple position she’s taken on almost everything? Too inconvenient for you?
Note that as with Bill Clinton, all the right wingers can do is criticize delivery style, looks of wives, and speculate about whether either one is having an affair. They can’t touch the substance. Sad.
Jeff Doto, no, Suzie cannot and seldom does “prove her talking points”!
It is a tad early dude!
Bureau of Labor…U6 unemployment 14.7% Labor Participation rate 65%.lowest in 31 years.
That’s the key stat, Steve. The lefties ignore that the population has grown by 10 million the past four years. That’s why even breaking even on net jobs would be a signficant downturn.
Now, why don`t you and Dan, Gdud, little Stevie C, and the rest of your ilk go and play w/ you obama decoder rings….during the commercial breaks of the `Simpsons`, of course.
LMAO.
Face it, if indeed the speech was as freaking horrible as any of you right wingers say, you would not need to knock it down, mock or denigrate the man or the speech. Your desperation to do so speaks volumes you cannot even fathom.
“…We don’t think the government can solve all our problems. But we don’t think that the government is the source of all our problems, any more than are welfare recipients, or corporations, or unions, or immigrants, or gays, or any other group we’re told to blame for our troubles.
…We, the People, recognize that we have responsibilities as well as rights; that our destinies are bound together; that a freedom which asks only what’s in it for me, a freedom without a commitment to others, a freedom without love or charity or duty or patriotism, is unworthy of our founding ideals, and those who died in their defense.
…And while I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved together, I’m far more mindful of my own failings, knowing exactly what Lincoln meant when he said, “I have been driven to my knees many times by the overwhelming conviction that I had no place else to go.”
You heard what you wanted to hear, as always.
The people who will be voting for President Obama to continue the work we have begun heard a humble man admit we have work still to do.
When Obama explained that Americans in November would not just be making a choice on a candidate, but the direction of the country, that was powerful stuff. Are we a country to be dominated hidden money, unfettered corporate greed, every man for himself attitude? Or are we going to lead a helping hand. Educate and re-educate a new workwork for a new economy? Protect the hard won civil rights of the last Century? Or go back to the 19th Century? That’s what I heard from President Obamas speech.
Yes the choice is clear and it’s not close. President Obama hit a home run.
Comment by Jeff Doto @24 — September 7, 2012 @ 8:48 am “Lets hear the lies that Romney/Ryan are spreading…along with some PROOF, please”
I’ll take that challenge on Ryan. The list of Romney’s lies would fill an entire thread, so I’ll encourage you to do your own research. Here is a list of Ryan’s most current lies [from his VP acceptance speech] – go ahead and read his speech’s transcript if you doubt that these were his less than truthful [lies] characterizations on issues:
1. LIE: President Obama is the “greatest threat” to Medicare.
Truth: Obama didn’t make any cuts to Medicare benefits; he made cuts to provider reimbursements, to improve cost efficiency and extend the fiscal security of Medicare by eight years. Ryan wants to replace and cut Medicare benefits and replace it with a voucher program.as stated in the Republican Platform. [Ryan's] “plan to supplant Medicare for seniors with a private voucher system, that passed the House of Representatives largely along party lines earlier this year…’
http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/08/poll-paul-ryan-medicare-vouchers.php
[and] http://ncronline.org/blogs/ncr-today/look-republican-platform
2. LIE: President Obama didn’t save a General Motors plant in Wisconsin.
Truth: Obama wasn’t even in office when the GM plant closed and he never made a “promise to save it”. “By December 2008, when President George W. Bush authorized nearly $14 billion in loans to General Motors and Chrysler, both of which were near financial collapse, GM had already warned it might close the Janesville plant because of sagging sport-utility vehicle sales.”
http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2012/aug/29/paul-ryan/did-barack-obama-break-promise-keep-gm-plant-open/
3. LIE: President Obama ignored recommendations of a bipartisan debt commission.
Truth: Paul Ryan actually sat on that commission. And he led Republicans in voting down the commission’s own recommendation. So the commission never gave a report to Obama, because Ryan himself voted to kill the report before it could get out of committee. http://www.nationaljournal.com/healthcare/paul-ryan-balked-at-medicare-compromise-he-now-backs-20120821
4. LIE: President Obama is responsible for the downgrading of the U.S. Credit Rating
Truth: House Republicans, including Paul Ryan, held the full faith and credit of the United States hostage to try to ransom it for trillions of dollars in cuts to social programs and tax breaks for the wealthiest. Standard & Poors said specifically, “We have changed our assumption on [revenue] because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues.” http://abcnews.go.com/Business/standard-poors-downgrades-us-credit-rating-aaa-aa/story?id=14220820#.UEn9xCLfgQ4
5. LIES: About his marathon finish time [less than 3 hours].
Truth: Ryan said in a prepared statement. “If I were to do any rounding, it would certainly be to four hours, not three.”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/05/paul-ryan-marathon-lie_n_1858384.html?utm_hp_ref=elections-2012
Ryan lies about the small things, lies about the big things…he fits the label, “Lyin Ryan”.
“Note that as with Bill Clinton, all the right wingers can do is criticize delivery style, looks of wives, and speculate about whether either one is having an affair. They can’t touch the substance. Sad.”
OMG. Someone saw a fat person in the DNC audience. Is that what you want, America?
You know what? I would consider voting for the R/R if they ever gave details of HOW they intend to govern. They can’t say a word about their plans to “restore” America. At least Obama tells folks what he intends to do — and he has the stones to say it won’t be fast or easy. The GOP is long on promises of prosperity and short on how they’ll get us there.
“Vote for me and we’ll figure it out later.” Right …
Bureau of Labor.
8.1% unemployment
96k New Jobs
368,000 dropped out of labor market
88,891,000 Not in Labor market
41k Downward revision from June employment numbers

4 more years 4 more years…the road is tough but 4 more years.
Did the liberals throw out Foley or the “foot tapper’ in the bathroom.
Thought I was watching “Ground Hog” day…at least the movie was funny!
“4.I feel compelled to point out that the poster “Kendra” has posted recently from the same IP address, and using the same email, as Barry, Cameron Lite, John Calvin, Mr. Goodwretch and Jarod.”
Another gender confused RWer.
The right is squealing like a bunch of stuck pigs. I love Leon’s riff on “stifling the military vote” blah blah…it’s as predictable as the annual “War on Christmas”.
#35 gdad, I wouldn’t listen to them (Clinton or Obama) if I was being paid. When I hear them, I change the channel. Of course they can energize their base, anyone could, all their base wants to hear is that they’ll be getting what someone else earned.
Face it, if indeed the speech was as freaking horrible as any of you right wingers say, you would not need to knock it down, mock or denigrate the man or the speech. Your desperation to do so speaks volumes you cannot even fathom.
What? Humble man? You have to be kidding.
Just the facts…
See #44…
and I forgot to add another QE3…for those in obamaville..
.Quantitative Easing 3…equal higher gas prices, low cd or money market rates, lowering of the dollar. 10 year T-bill 1.6%..(are you kidding)
4 more years 4 more years for the “humble” one…(not about Barry anymore).
Th choice is between two distinctly different philosophies. As one speaker so succinctly put it:
The Democrat philosophy is we’re all in this together.
The Republican philosophy is we’re all in this alone.
What substance Dan? More class warfare is all I heard.
No wonder this nation is in such trouble, look at the brain power of the right wing…
Great speech, great convention. Unlike Tampa, this convention will give a big boost. Most GOP politicos say Obama has won.
oh boy! Let’s see, we’ve got a pres seeking RE-election…, and IN ADDITION to giving us a dismal 4 years of NO hope, on the eve prior to his acceptance speech he proceeds to PICK A FIGHT with God worshipers, PICK A FIGHT with Israelis, then put those obviously brilliantly conceived plans back where they came from (only for now…, folks)…, then in the “backing-up” process, he PICKS A FIGHT with the Palistinians. Man-o-man, our pres is brilliant, isn’t he? And yet, he’s supposed to be so GOOD with foreign relations? What a joke he and his administration full of “smart” people are…
Then we’ve got good ol’ vp joe, who, bless his heart, is LITERALLY an idiot. By the way, did anyone catch his use of the word “literally” in his speech?? He used it a gazillion times….incorrectly!
How’re things on the JOBS front doing? Not so good, eh? But, boy-o-boy we sure got the folks wanting to soak the rich, don’t we? And, yeah boy, ol’ Sandra gets all the free rubbers she wants!!
What a joke. Sadly, that joke is our pres…
“#35 gdad, gdad, I wouldn’t listen to them (Clinton or Obama) if I was being paid. When I hear them, I change the channel. Of course they can energize their base, anyone could, all their base wants to hear is that they’ll be getting what someone else earned.”
VRWC,
Sticking your head in the sand is rarely a good strategy.
#27 Nothing at all wrong with the Simpsons, although it’s past its prime.
But Saintbridge, wasn’t that the liberal argument behind voting for Obamacare? Vote for it now so we can find out what’s in it later? Why was the logic sound then and not now? Maybe only Nancy Pelosi knows the answer.
I liked Obama’s speech. I particularly liked the metamorphosis from ’08. In ’08 we were supposed to vote for him because he represented change in government. He was different. He wasn’t a Washington insider. He was going to bring change to Washington. He would be transparent. Now, in order to cover his failure to follow through on virtually any of his campaign promises, he says the change in ’08 wasn’t about him, it was about us. That was, to say the least, an imaginative way to spin it.
#45 “Another gender confused RWer.”
Speaking of which, Kristen, I wonder where Big Momma’s been.
“What substance Dan? More class warfare is all I heard.”
The GOP began waging “class warfare” 30 years ago. It started when Reagan began banging on Cadillac-driving, jewelry-flashing “welfare queens.” Then it moved onto unions (even though Ronnie had been president of one and led a strike), and tax increases under Reagan that hurt the poor and the middle class way more than the rich. And it’s been going on more or less ever since.
You saw it onstage at the GOP convention too, cloaked as this kind of odd and tittering paternalism that said: “These poor people, they really don’t know what’s good for them, but we do. They’re gonna have to swallow some bad medicine first, to get better. We’ll raise their federal income taxes because those slouches are paying none now, and we’ll cut taxes for the rich because they are paying them now — well, most of them are.”
Speaking of reactions to the speech. Here’s one making the rounds:
THE CHOICE: When 16 Year-Old Alyssa Douglas Calls For The President’s Assassination on Twitter
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/07/1128805/-THE-CHOICE-When-16-Year-Old-Alyssa-Douglas-Calls-For-The-President-s-Assassination-on-Twitter
Are we better now than 4 years ago?
Big statement, but follow me…Personally, YES I AM! But its because of ME and not the government.
I didnt get a raise at all over the 4 year period. However:
I CUT my spending
I Paid off my DEBT
I SAVED and not borrowed.
Now which candidate is more likely to do this for our country???
It was a great speech! It clearly showed that President Obama loves this country and is hands down the best choice to lead this great nation.
Obama’s speech was the perfect compliment to Clinton’s speech.
I can’t wait until Obama and Romney debate. Obama is going clean his clock and expose the pack of lies that he is running on.
A simple question…how can RWers blame President Obama’s policies for the slow economy, when republicans obstruct every one of the President’s policies? The overall jobs picture comprises the private sector, which is adding jobs, and the public sector which is shedding them. How does one credibly blame President Obama for the losses of government jobs – those losses are mostly done by republican governors’ “austerity measures – the job losses were reflected in police, teachers, firefighting personnel, etc… The unemployment rate did fall – 8.1% – even with the republicans stonewalling every job creating bill.
The Republican philosophy is we’re all in this alone.
Dave obiously doesn’t attend a church. I don’t know where the myth came from the Democrats are these generous people who devote their time and resources to their fellow man. Study after study shows the exact opposite. Chuch-going folks are the ones with the sense of community.
Again with Katrina, all you saw were rows and rows of church buses with folks helping out. Liberals were as scarce down there as hens’ teeth.
#51 RJB CPA, interesting, you wrote, “Most GOP politicos say Obama has won.” Can you give us some numbers? How many “GOP politicos” are there and how many say Obama has won. Thanks.
Was there ever mentioned any desire for America to return to its greatness once again in three days of the Dem ocrat convention? Did 0bama ever talk about that?
#64 If you doubt that he did, he probably did. Given that you somehow missed all the Hispanic speakers at the Dem convention.
@58 – A 16 year old? Thats all you got, gdud? How about an Obama zombie delegate? I more worried that someone like this can be a delegate. 16 yr old? Come on, man.

2008 Hope and Change
2012 Dope and Dung
The Democrat philosophy is we’re all in this together.
89 Million people out of work! Gas Prices record highs..(where are the Outraged democrats?
It ain’t about Barry.
64. Suzie – The point over and over was that American is, and will remain the Greatest Nation on Earth. We are not the bankrupt failing Nation that the GOP keeps talking about(what a bunch of unpatriotic and untrue hooey). You must not have watched.
“89 Million people out of work!”
FOS.
Frank, better than Lyin’ Ryan.
Although you do highlight just how atrocious McCain’s choice was 4 years ago. Any thinking person would be horrified to imagine her in the big job.

Simple. Barry “owns this economy”!
368K left job market (thus 8.1%) should be 11.2 if same number of people were counted when Barry took office.
88,891,000 People NOT in labor market!
Promised 500K jobs a MONTH after $787B Stimulus. (remember JOEY staying summer of Job recovery)
Record Gas Prices…
Barry OWNed Congress from 2009-2011..All Democrats.
President Barrack Hussein Obama still operates by FIAT…ie circumventing the Constitution.
NO exuses Barry owns this economy and is not a Victim.
I get it now…Democrat President Barrack Hussein Obama is a VICTIM!
What a inspiring and humble presence . He bears the distinctive mark of greatness many other politicians lack!
Patience,Rome was not built in one day!
#66 I see, Walker, so you’re not at all disturbed that a 16-year-old would Tweet this crap — not because she might actually try to kill the president, which I doubt, but simply because she sent such a Tweet? Shoot, I bet her parents are proud of her.
The Dem delegate, who was equally stupid, is under investigation. So is the 16-year-old.
#62. You should volunteer some of your time at local secular non-profits and then re-evaluate your stance on that.
Direct and frequent experience has taught me quite the opposite.
Steve, look again at record gas prices. The record prices for gas occurred in early summer of 2008.
Thanks again for playing, but you just lost.
For all those that support our current president and thought last nights speech was the bees knees, please tell me what was said specifically (not generalizations) last night in his speech that would let a fellow know exactly what he plans to do and what steps he will take to get us where he wants us.
In the famous words of the arms-folded, toe-tapping blog nanny gdad… I’ll be waiting.
P.S. Feel free to quote directly from his speech.
“I get it now…Democrat President Barrack Hussein Obama is a VICTIM”
No, you don’t get it. We are all victims. Of 30 years of trickle on voodoo economics thanks to the GOP.
So misguided Dan so misguided….
yeh, kristen. you must not have gotten the memo. by the way, the issue isn’t Sarah, although I have no doubt she’d make a better POTUS than the one who’s soon to be fired. let’s just hope that obama’s heart lasts until that day….we’re doomed, otherwise. Really, pres joe? Seriously?
By the way, for heaven’s sake,
1. why did the libs do what they did with God, and that Jerusalm thingy? and,
2. why did they reverse course? the lib news media is reporting all kinds of conflicting reports…what say you libs?
Personally Frank I think that whole brouhaha was stupid. All of it…the issues, the responses, the flip-flop. It’s not changing my vote, but it reminds me of why I’d never succeed in politics. That kind of stupid crap annoys me into a politically incorrect state of irritation.
gdad, The Simpsons is sort of snarky and satirical. We all know how the right is with satire.

Walker, obama coming after a 16 year-old girl is not that surprising…. remember when he had the police in Missouri threaten to arrest others that said anything obama thought was a lie?

“Was there ever mentioned any desire for America to return to its greatness once again in three days of the Dem ocrat convention? Did 0bama ever talk about that?”
How blatantly ignorant you are willing to look to make such a nonsensical point. From that comment, everyone who watched the President’s acceptance speech knows he did indeed speak of America’s greatness, both in spirit and by its people.
Hint: it helps to remember that many on this blog watched the President’s speech, and will call you out on your L-I-E. Congenital liars just can’t help themselves, even when they know a lie is easily exposed – have you seen someone for condition? Are you any relationship to Lyin Ryan?
You may want to read the transcript of the President’s acceptance speech, it may save you from embarrassing yourself.

Shrilliot. . .either you just do not understand what’s happening or you choose to swill the Kool-Aid. The UC rate dropped because. . .368,000 people gave up on looking for work and, therefore, this administration chooses to not count them. If all such persons were counted the UC rate would be between 11 and 12 percent. Shrill, this has been going on for 42 months. . .Obama has played more golf and attended fundraisers than he has created jobs.

Sounds like a war on women..Suzie!
She makes sense to me!
The point over and over was that American is, and will remain the Greatest Nation on Earth. We are not the bankrupt failing Nation that the GOP keeps talking about(what a bunch of unpatriotic and untrue hooey). You must not have watched.

There are now 16 Trillion reasons why you are wrong…I would expect someone brazen enough to sign off on a blog as a CPA to have a better
understanding of the economy and the debt situation this administration
has placed us in. Guess CPA stands for Confused, Perplexed and Addled.

Steve, look again at record gas prices. The record prices for gas occurred in early summer of 2008.
Thanks again for playing, but you just lost.

Dollar drops after grim US jobs report
The dollar fell against other major currencies Friday after a crucial US August jobs report was much weaker than expected, stoking hopes for new Federal Reserve support of the economy.

AFP – The dollar fell against other major currencies Friday after a crucial US August jobs report was much weaker than expected, stoking hopes for new Federal Reserve support of the economy.
The euro was at $1.2811 around 2100 GMT, up from $1.2629 at the same time Thursday. Earlier it hit $1.2818, its highest level since May 21 against the US unit.
The euro surged against the Japanese currency, to 100.21 yen from 99.60 yen late Thursday.
The dollar fell to 78.21 yen from 78.85 yen.
The greenback weakened after the US Labor Department reported Friday the United States added only 96,000 jobs in August, well below the 130,000 estimated.
“The softer than expected US jobs data arguably boosts the chances of further Fed policy easing at the September meeting,” said Vassili Serebriakov, currency strategist at Wells Fargo Bank.
“Shrilliot. . .either you just do not understand what’s happening or you choose to swill the Kool-Aid. The UC rate dropped because. . .368,000 people gave up on looking for work and, therefore, this administration chooses to not count them. If all such persons were counted the UC rate would be between 11 and 12 percent. Shrill, this has been going on for 42 months. . .Obama has played more golf and attended fundraisers than he has created jobs.”
It is AWFUL that’re they’re counting it this way. I demand they count these numbers the SAME WAY they did when Bush was president!
RJB: “The point over and over was that America is, and will remain the Greatest Nation on Earth.”
Leon: “There are now 16 Trillion reasons why you are wrong…I would expect someone brazen enough to sign off on a blog as a CPA to have a better understanding of the economy and the debt situation this administration has placed us in.”
Let me translate for Leon:
If the total national debt was $1 billion, which we can all acknowledge is chicken feed in terms of federal revenues, or GDP, then there would be 1 billion reasons why Richard J. Beason is wrong.
In fact, if the total national debt was $100, there would exist 100 reasons why Richard Beason is wrong.
Leon can’t conceive of this country being the greatest nation on earth until the nation debt is zero — OR — a Republican enters the White House.
Obama speech was weak and boring – lots of lines from Jimmy Carter’s 1980 speech. Obama’s presidency is the 2nd term that Carter never had. Jobs report is devastating for BHO – over 300,000 Americans stopped looking for work.
Was that movie an autobiography steve?
Even though 0bama never laid out specifics, nobody cares. We all know it’s going to be more of the same policies that haven’t shown any sign of working.
But that’s fine with the pod people in here.
Leon can’t conceive of this country being the greatest nation on earth until the nation debt is zero — OR — a Republican enters the White House.
Comment by Dan Casey — September 7, 2012 @ 10:29 pm
Dan, It will probably surprise you that the USA is, IMO, the greatest nation on Earth. It has the best government(Constitution), best economy(Capitalism) and the best national persona(Courage, we send our best to die for other peoples freedom). That, much said, does not mean I agree
with RJB’s premise that we are not bankrupt. We are; literally and figuratively.
Literally our government is driven by a group of “elites” of both political parties who are corrupt, deceitful and greedy for power and money. Figuratively, 16 Trillion in debt is only the tip of the iceberg as there are unfunded liabilities for pension plans and entitlement programs as well as a cesspool of private debt.
The good news is not good…it’s all unsustainable…there are a number of economists indicating we are at the edge of a financial cliff and are moving full tilt over the edge. When the debt bubble pops, as it must,
things will change…Japan in the 90′s to the present may be an example we should study. Deflation is a problem the Government cannot fix; it will it find it’s level.
The USA will remain the greatest nation on earth as we will overcome such
dynamic and difficult changes because of the reasons above.
Dan…BTW…we have the best healthcare in the world too…in case you were still wondering.

Not according to the World Health Organization:
http://www.who.int/whr/2000/media_centre/press_release/en/index.html
The U.S. health system spends a higher portion of its gross domestic product than any other country but ranks 37 out of 191 countries according to its performance, the report finds.
Also, from the same link:
In North America, Canada rates as the country with the fairest mechanism for health system finance – ranked at 17-19, while the United States is at 54-55.
Leon, we don’t even have top 10 healthcare here. I’m case you were wondering.
dobbs,
To Leon’s point, “best” is subjective. If you measure it by longevity, infant mortality, number covered, disease prevention, etc., you’re absolutely right — other countries’ health-care systems are better.
If you measure it by how long you have to wait for breast implants, however, the United States is clearly superior. Dagnabit, any woman can get 38 DDs on a Sunday, in any major city and most minor ones, after being evaluated on a Saturday.
And to many, this is a very important consideration.
We’re better in ER and, in most cases, trauma care, too.
But those are about the only three categories, out of many.
We probably also have the best healthcare for Saudi princes and other billionaires in every category, in the entire world. There’s a price for admission there, though.
Re: Comment by Dan Casey — September 8, 2012 @ 7:02 pm
So, Dan, are you saying our health care is like our government – The best money can buy?

I was thinking Cancer treatment, Sports Medicine and related injuries, and
Specialized Diagnostic procedures and equipment. Common sense is simply:
if you get sick or injured the USA is the bestest place to be. Not only do we have the best overall care we also got the logistic and support system to get you to where the best care is the fastest and safest. If you want real superiority think Veterinary care or Agricultural science.
“I was thinking Cancer treatment, Sports Medicine and related injuries, and
Specialized Diagnostic procedures and equipment.”
So…you were ” thinking”. You have no real idea.
Kristen@106…LOLAY…such a snit. If you don’t have an argument why post? IMO we have the best health care in the world which opine is shared
by most of the world who come here for health care solutions and treatment. Further, when disaster strikes anywhere in the world the USA delivers healthcare and assistance. USA Kristen; love it or leave it!
“IMO we have the best health care in the world which opine is shared by most of the world who come here for health care solutions and treatment.”
Leon finally got it not wrong. In his opinion we have the best health care in the world. IN HIS OPINION.
Opinions can’t be incorrect. So he’s not wrong. They can be misguided, uninformed and unsupported, like his about health care in the United States.
As for the “fact” he cites that “most of the world” comes to the U.S. for healthcare treatment, that’s complete hogwash. It’s laughingly untrue. The opposite of what he said is actually a fact: most of the world DOESN’T come to the U.S. for healthcare.
#107 Leon, care to provide some sort of objective proof. We’ve provided proof time and time again that no objective measurement considers ours the best in the world. But I’m sure you must know of some super secret survey.
Leon, you’re free to “opine” all you wish. Opinions are like some other things we all have. And as valuable.

DAVE…What?
POETRY AND UPLIFTING…don’t give a “darn” about poems…ain’t got a job dude…just trying to keep it real!
#111 Look, suzie, steve’s a conservative and he absolutely ADORES you. Why haven’t you given this guy a job yet?
“Look, suzie, steve’s a conservative and he absolutely ADORES you. Why haven’t you given this guy a job yet?”
Ha, ha. If hubby had a company Suzie wouldn’t let him hire Steve Nelson in a million years.
#113 Heck, Dan, I figured he could be her “gardener,” or maintain those AC units, or keep the gym floor clean.
#113 Oh, and if suzie can’t give the guy a job, maybe VRWC could at least step in and praise his posts and admire the way he so deftly takes on so many attackers at once and assure him that he’s always right. You know, give the guy a little ego boost?
steve: “ain’t got a job dude…just trying to keep it real!”
It’s apparent that you’re trying to keep it unemployed, not real. The last time I checked, you don’t find gainful employment by blathering incessantly on a random blog in an egregious massacre of punctuation, spelling, and grammar. If I was looking to hire you and in my research, ran across your unfettered destruction of the English language here, your resume would go in the trash, and quickly.
You don’t really want a job, do you, steve? It would take away your biggest crutch in life. If you stay unemployed, you can moan and belly-ache about the president destroying your country and keeping you down. I find it simply amazing the numbers of so-called conservatives who seem to think that their woes are the fault of someone else. So much for that whole “personal responsibility” thing, huh? ‘All my successes are mine and all mine, but any failures along the way are because of someone else.’ Jeez! Grow up and get real.
steve, I don’t know how old you are, but it’s time you were let in on a little secret of life: the only unwaveringly consistent feature in all of your failures in life… is you.
This doesn’t even take into account your nauseating butt kissing and puppy love of the most fake, disingenuous, selective, illogical person on this blog. Between “her” and yourself, you’re like caricatures in a Monty Python animation.
Please stop embarrassing yourself. It’s not even funny anymore. You’re not “fighting the good fight” and you’re not convincing even one of us that you’re on to something (unless that something is how NOT to write a readable sentence).
And three things regarding your repeated challenge for Dan to engage you in a public debate. 1) This IS a public forum, open to all, and you’re getting decimated day in and day out. Are you just some kind of masochist? 2) Removed from the Internet and quick reference to your manufactured talking points, you’d be shamefully destroyed in a face-to-face extemporaneous debate. And 3) I’m fairly positive that Dan has no interest in having a battle of wits with you; you’re not properly armed and it’s just not sporting.
Thanks for your time. Now get out there and re-enter the workforce so us filthy liberals can steal your tax money for drum circles, pot brownies and birth control we can put in all municipal water supplies!
