    It’s about the economy because I said so. Neener neener neener!

  2. Devino | September 8, 2012 at 10:38 pm

    Dan…none of this is true…as you report. Actually, Larry Flynt is offering $1M for Barack’s college transcripts….however, I believe that he will need to come up with a LOT more than that to get his hands on these.

    Keep trying Dan. Yep, I am biting…I will contribute to your blog and help with your job security. Why not?

  3. Suzie | September 8, 2012 at 10:45 pm

    The idea that most women want government-funded abortions and birth control is absurd. It’s nothing but a strawman diversion from 0bama’s horrible job with the economy.

    Devino, yawn. Do you people do anything but just make crap up?

    “The Hustler founder is offering a $1 million reward for information on Mitt Romney’s taxes, AdWeek reports. Flynt, an outspoken critic of Romney, is taking out two full page ads in Sunday’s issues of USA Today and The Washington Post to publicize the offer.”

  5. Suzie | September 8, 2012 at 10:50 pm

    Reuters uses an ‘online’ poll, huh? That sounds representative of the population, doesn’t it?

    “Actually, Larry Flynt is offering $1M for Barack’s college transcripts”

    Wow, that might wind up being the most intereting thing Larry Flynt has ever published! Not the transcripts, but the barking at the moon the RW loons would do over them. Who knows, perhaps he was a lousy student, but that’s not the be-all-end-all of anything. Bill Gates was a lousy student. Some of the most intelligent people I have even known were awful students. There’s far more to being a good student than being smart.

    Mr. Flynt’s resources could be far better spent, but he may entertain us all, so I hope he gets them! Good luck Larry!

    Funny thing. Mitt Romney was for everything, before he was against everything, before he was for some things, before he was against some things, before the Tea Party and the nut jobs on the right told him what to think. Another funny thing. If he had not have been elected President, Barack Obama would have been the conservative poster child for Black male success in America.

  8. Art Hill | September 9, 2012 at 1:32 am

    The president is ahead in all three major polls, Gallup, Reuters and Rasmussen. Pew had him up by 10 in their last poll mid-July. Wonder why they don’t do another?

  9. dave | September 9, 2012 at 2:10 am

    Kristen.

    Of course they do nothing but make things up. Remember, they already said the second part of the campaign would be like an etch a sketch and that they weren’t going to let any fact checkers dictate what they say in their advertising.

  10. Dan Casey | September 9, 2012 at 2:26 am

    Here’s a page on Real Clear Politics that has all the national presidential polls. There are 200 of them, maybe more. Scroll deep into that page and what will you see? On the right column you’ll see large stretches of blue, denoting an Obama lead, punctuated here and there with a bit of red, denoting a poll in which Romney came out ahead. I haven’t counted it precisely, but you don’t have to get the idea that Obama has led about 5 polls for every one that Romney has led.

    There’s one bright spot there for Romney. It was May 3-18, during which there were 8 polls, and Romney was ahead in 6 of those, but always within the margin of error.

    Since then there have been 58 polls. Of those, 7 have been ties, Obama was ahead in 43, by a range of 1 to 13 points (which almost undoubtably was an outlier). Romney was ahead in 8, by a range of 1 to 4 points.

    Considering all the money Romney is raising directly in his campaign, and all the undisclosed soft money that millionaires and billionaires are pumping into “independent” expenditures on Romeny’s behalf, it doesn’t look like he’s getting much bang for his buck.

    Perhaps that his is strategy. But if so, it sure seems like a strange one.

    The only poll that matters is taken in November, but I have a sneaking suspicion this race isn’t as close as they would have you believe.

    hohum more lies from bammy and bidet

    ““I say to the press, fact check me,” a smiling Biden said to applause at a rally in Zanesville, Ohio,

    The Associated Press also points out that Obama said in his speech that he wants to use money saved by ending the wars to build highways, schools and bridges.
    However, the wars were largely financed by borrowing “so there is no ready pile of cash to be diverted to anything else,” the wire service writes.
    The group FactCheck.org listed eight instances in which either Biden or Obama “spun” facts during their speeches Thursday night in Charlotte, N.C.
    The group point out that Obama boasted that “independent experts” found his economic plan would cut the deficit by $4 trillion over 10 years. However, one such analyst called a key element of the plan a ‘gimmick,’ the group said.
    Other examples include the president saying U.S. auto makers are back on top of the world.
    “Nope,” writes FactCheck, pointing out that General Motors has slipped back to No. 2 and is headed for third place in global sales this year behind Toyota and Volkswagen.

    The only poll that matters is taken in November, but I have a sneaking suspicion this race isn’t as close as they would have you believe.

    Poodle is finally right. The election isn’t close. Romney has a commanding lead and about $100 million more that he’s free to spend now that the conventions are over. 0bama got the usual convention bounce of three points. After a week or so, Romney will return to his baseline six-seven point lead and the money will expand it from there.

    Expect the MSM which controls, moderates, then spins the debates to try to help 0bama out, but barring some hugely successful dirty trick, Romney wins in a landslide.

  14. Suzie | September 9, 2012 at 8:15 am

  15. Jeff Doto | September 9, 2012 at 9:09 am

    I love the anti-Romney/Ryan ad at the top of the RT page..“Obamacare cracks down on Medicare fraud, WASTE, and ABUSE“….This PATHETIC advertising after Obama just STOLE $718,000,000,000.00 from Medicare to support Obamacare. SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTEEN BILLION STOLEN FROM MEDICARE !!!

  17. gdad | September 9, 2012 at 9:53 am

    #5 suzie, you should consider checking into facts before opening your trap. Scientific online polls are becoming more and more common and re used to some degree by numerous organizations. The sample is chosen from a larger group and is representative, the same as in a telephone poll. Questions are answered online instead of on the phone. In fact, telephone polls can be subject to systemic bias.

    Sorry, VRWC, but it’s just so easy to school your Dan Casey blog hero.

    Now are you trying to move the goalpost by switching to “government-funded” rather than discuss “mandated coverage” or the issue of “availability”?

    Now here’s a poll you might believe:

    Fox News Poll conducted by Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R). Feb. 6-9, 2012. N=1,110 registered voters nationwide. Margin of error ± 3.

    “The new Obama health care law requires that employer health plans provide birth control coverage as part of preventive services for women. Catholic and other religious-affiliated hospitals and universities typically have not provided any birth control coverage for their employees, and oppose the new requirement because it violates their religious rights. Overall, do you approve or disapprove of requiring employer health plans to cover birth control for women?”

    ALL =

    Approve = 61%

    Disapprove = 34%

    Unsure = 5%

    WOMEN =

    Approve = 67%

    Disapprove = 29%

    Unsure = 4%

    ——–

    OTOH, I do believe you are right about the selfish I’ve-got-mine point-of-view re: funding.

    CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll. April 9-10, 2011. N=824 adults nationwide. Margin of error ± 3.5.

    “As you may know, the federal government currently provides funding to support some programs run by the organization called Planned Parenthood. Do you think federal funding for Planned Parenthood should be eliminated entirely, or do you think the federal government should continue to provide funding to Planned Parenthood?”

    Eliminate funding = 34%

    Continue to provide = 65%

    Unsure = 1%

    ——–

    So, looks as if we are back to the best goverment [ sorry, make that health care ] that money can buy — assuming you can buy what you want.

    I find the “Down on your luck? Tough. I’ve got mine.” mindset incomprehensibly selfish.

    ——–

    FWIIW these numbers from a great source of poll data on a bunch of subjects @ pollingreport.com Very easy to overload on that site.

    Hang onto those thoughts Suzie. Hold them dear. Romney has nothing to be concerned about!

  20. dave | September 9, 2012 at 12:26 pm

    Rpmney was his usual consistent self in his interview televised this morning on Meet The Press. First, he said we have to cut taxes on all levels so that people at the top and in the middles will have more money to spend and invest, thereby creating jobs. Then he said “I have a plan that does that. My plan cuts the tax rate at all levels”. Then he said
    “My plan is revenue neutral. It makes up for the tax cuts by cutting out tax braks and deductions so we have the same amount of revenue to pay our bills.”
    Now tell me again Mitt, how does a plan that is revenue neutral (i.e. still provides the same amount of revenue) putting more money into anybody’s pocket? That seems to just be a shell game.
    Then he says that his plan cuts taxes for the “middle class” by lowering taxes on dividends and capital gains. Does he think anybody in the middle class actuaslly believes this hogwash. Cutting taxes on dividends and capital gains is dsiporoportionately loaded in the favor of the people who have the most money and can afford the investments that allow them to take advantage of of those cuts. It sounds like he is including himself in the definition of “middle class.” When you listen to the contradictions in what he says, it is clear that his “plan” can’t have it both ways. He’s lieing again.

  21. Chuck | September 9, 2012 at 1:04 pm

    Speaks volumes that liberals now trumpet Larry Flynt. They do this out of one side of their mouth, joyous to have Flynt on their side, while out of the other side of their mouth they talk about how Republicans hate women. i guess there’s no disconnect there as we all know how Larry Flynt has advanced the cause of women’s rights.

  22. Chuck | September 9, 2012 at 1:09 pm

    Dave, maybe Romney’s plan is revenue neutral the same way Obamacare is going to spend billions of dollars to extend healthcare to the uninsured WITHOUT raising taxes AND lower the deficit at the same time.

  23. Dan Casey | September 9, 2012 at 1:32 pm

    I wrote a fact about Larry Flynt — he’s offering $1 million for Romney’s returns — and Chuck wrote an opinion.

    See the difference, RWers? The former is true, and the latter is . . . opinion. This exchange is completely typical of the moderate/liberal and RWer exchanges on here.

    Yup.

    Cuts both ways.

    Yet, on this blog I think you are right that it is more common from the right — albeit not missing altogether from yje left.

    Opinions are opinions. Like noses, most folk have them. Some just smell far more than others.

    Statements posted in a declaratory manner should be supportable w/ facts (and/or links to facts) and via logical debate, IMHO.

    There is far too much repetitive shouting & spurious reasoning on this blog and far too little attention to the question does it work and attention to the unintended consequences of various agendas.

    So who has the most and where are they getting it?

    See: http://tinyurl.com/76qfdd4

    Could it be that old Rants & Raves (w/lies) has decided her/his vision of buying the election might not work and have unintended consequences?

  27. Shrillary | September 9, 2012 at 2:16 pm

    Dave Hicks @25 posted, “Opinions are opinions. Like noses, most folk have them. Some just smell far more than others.”

    Dave my husband uses that same catchy little phrase, but he uses a different part of the body – I like yours better…

  28. gdad | September 9, 2012 at 2:19 pm

    #26 Last time I looked, Obama was way behind when you include the PACs and organizations that aren’t supposed to run political ads but do so anyway.

    “Obama can’t be winning! Everyone in my Mommy’s Day Out group supports Romney!”

    Are you kidding…Bubba threw Barry under the bus…in only the way slick willie could..give me a break.

    BARRY receives an endorsement for only the SECOND IMPEACHED President of the United States of America and this IS CREDIBILITY!

    BOVINE SCATOLOGY and DESPERATION for BARRY!

    Comment by suz — September 9, 2012 @ 8:08 am

    suz, you’ve already proven you don’t believe this fabrication enough to pony up a mere $100 of hubby’s dough to bet CnP but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have any skin in the game.

    Here’s what I propose; you and I will have a little wager. Who’s ever candidate loses in November can’t post on Dan’s blog until their respective candidate’s term starts. Here’s your chance to prove to everyone that you believe the dopey crap you regurgitate daily here.

    I am truly a most gracious person, ain’t I? Who else on the board give you the opportunity to put up as well as to shut up?

    Congratulations, Steve C.

    A way for Rants & Raves (w/ lies) to make a bet with in the tight allowance and auditing the spouse seems to impose on her/him.

  33. gdad | September 12, 2012 at 11:36 am

    #31 suzie won’t even take you up on this, Steve C. Every time she’s challenged directly she disappears from the thread. Typical.
