The camera is rolling on the Thursday OPEN thread
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. … My job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

Hmm. Perhaps there are lots of reasons to return back to our religious foundations.
Speaking of the camera rolling, the links below point out some interesting news on Republican efforts in the area of voter fraud.

This link and the video it contains gives insights into what Mitt Romney’s late mother thought of the 47%.

Notice how quickly suzie dropped the selective editing meme on the secret Romney video? Pretty hard to claim that what Rmoney said was true and that he should stick to it (as you said earlier), while also claiming that he was taken out of context or selectively edited, isn’t it troll? Whined yourself into a corner on that one.
More than a year ago right wingers were crowing about the fact that Florida had identified 180,000 people who might not belong on voter rolls. See!!! We told you liberals there was lots of fraud going on!!!
Fast forward. The state (in a system run by Repubs) has confirmed exactly 209 people who should be removed from the rolls, and even as the election approaches they are desperately trying to remove folks at the last minute, even if it means mistakes are made and there’s no time for a challenge. After all, getting every single illegal out is much more important than assuring that everybody who has the right to vote gets he chance to do so.
Also, in Florida, Colorado and other places, the ACLU and other people fighting for voter rights are afraid that right wingers will intimidate legitimate voters at he polls simply because their name once appeared on a list of people who were to be checked. These folks have been cleared, but their name was once on these lists. This has happened in past elections. The ACLU is even talking about escorting some of these folks as they vote.

Comment by Suzie — September 20, 2012 @ 10:16 am
Suzie, I’m not sure you quite grasp the results of that study. All it shows is that people who are already religious receive more effective treatment if their religion is involved in the process. At best, it shows some lateral evidence of how the power of belief aids in treatments for one’s mental health. It doesn’t suggest that if more people were religious, there would be fewer mental health issues. Least of all does it suggest a preference to any particular religion.
It’s an interesting study, though, and supports the author’s theory that our own minds can be most instrumental in an effective course of treatments of mental health issues. It’s too bad it was hijacked for some cheap proselytizing.
Notice how quickly suzie dropped the selective editing meme on the secret Romney video?
How many times do I have to comment on it to please you, Granddad? MJ lied by editing. Just like CBS and MSNBC have done this year. It’s what liberals do; Lie.
Romney is simply “evolving.” Ya know, the same way Obama has “evolved” from a large portion of his 2008 campaign promises.
Oh yes. Thank God (sarcasm intended) we have the ACLU to protect us from such horrors as this:

Radford cops charge guy in pot ripoff
Jeez Dan I was just clicking over here to comment on this story.
Guy pays dealer for pot he doesn’t get and reports the dealer to the cops. Is there something I’m missing?
What’s next? ‘Gambler reports bookie to cops for welching on bets’ ??
Dan,
I can’t believe the police are actually looking for the alleged dealer. Wouldn’t it be a better utilization of time and money to simply tell the buyer “too bad”?
An OMG Onion(satire) moment. President Obama senselessly kills two people in their home, promises more will follow. Media having trouble trying to figure out how to cover the story.

Interesting idea from Kaine. A minimum tax level for everyone. Is he proposing ending the free ride for the 47%?

matt, I can’t believe that, AND I can’t believe the ripoffee actually called the cops on a dope deal that went sour.

Comment by Dan Casey — September 20, 2012 @ 1:06 pm
Sounds like a case of “buyer beware” to me.
I’m guessing the guy is on a bus out of state by now.
Pawlenty is adapting the Jesse James philosophy and going where the money is. Lobbying for banks is such a noble cause (sarcasm font on).
#7 I see, suzie, so you’ve taken a new vow not to harp on something over and over again? We’ll look forward to that.
#7 Anyway, suzie, it’s like I said earlier, it’s petty obvious that you suddenly realized you couldn’t have it both ways on this one. Either the media dishonestly edited it and skewed what Romney was saying, or he meant what he said — as both you and he are claiming. Which is it, toots?
8 things Jesus Didn’t Say:
“I have come to bring you a new religion.”
“For I was hungry and you invited me to church.”
“By this all men will know that you are my disciples because of your correct theology.”
…
“Blessed are the tithers for they shall be the sons of God.”
“In the world you will have trouble, which is why you can’t be happy and we are all just biding our time until heaven.”
“You have heard it said, ‘Love your neighbor’ who are the people with whom you attend church and relate to in your Christian sub-culture.”
“If anyone would come after me, let him disparage all other religions and their followers.”
“For God was so disgusted with the world and you that he gave his one and only Son.” — Jim Palmer
Dan, yeah and now the ripoffee will be known in the Radford “scene” as a snitch. Looks like he’s gonna have to start driving all the way to Roanoke for his weed. Sheesh.
On a really sad note, the widow of the guy who just died of West Nile is a friend of mine. I had no idea we were seeing cases of it around here…I’ve learned it’s more common than I’d thought. They were supposed to be leaving today for their anniversary cruise…so heartbreaking. I hope we get cold enough weather soon to kill all the friggen bugs.
Not only did Pawlenty jump ship from Romney, he’s pretty much taken himself out of consideration for the 2016 GOP nomination. I’m sure his compensation as a lobbyist will ease his mind on that.
Dan@18
Oh… I totally believe the dude called the police to get his stolen pot money back. There is no limit to cascading events of stupidity and I bet it ain’t the first time it’s happened in the small town of Radford.
I wonder if the guy has contacted the BBB yet to report an unscrupulous dealer.
Somebody in that story is more than a few bricks shy of a load!
The very rich, like Mitt, lead exceedingly insular lives. They don’t associate with people like us. And there is no one I know of in Roanoke who qualifies as very rich, so that includes ALL of us. Mitt looks uncomfortable around regular folks because he IS uncomfortable. He looked and sounded comfortable in the Mother Jones video. These were HIS people, not just his political supporters, but HIS PEOPLE. Rich people. And those folks really believe that the 47% don’t pay income taxes because they are shiftless, lazy leeches on society. On the other hand, when one of their own kind finds some obscure feature of the tax code that lets him minimize his OWN taxes, why that’s just being smart. We ALL like to minimize our taxes. So, why should it be any different for the poor end elderly?
Excellent point old blue. And very true. He was speaking “his truth”.
Mike Scott, wonder if he was an obama lover

You realize that Obama is also very rich, right?

I happen to have read the Virginia Pilot earlier today, and saw the article about the death in Salem from suspected West Nile virus. I think it must be the same family you posted about. What an awful and sad event – it was said they were going to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
I posted the link below if you wish to read the entire story.

Brown up 6!
Henry. I know all these candidates are rich, but there’s rich and then there is RICH. Drive through Keswick some time. As you do, realize that these vast estates are second or third or fourth, or…homes. One of those estates is owned by members of the Busch family (as in beer). The owners are rarely there, but the whole place is beautiful. Even the barn. And they employ a large staff to keep it that way. It’s hard for me to imagine that much wealth. Just as it is hard for people like that ro relate to people like us.
Does it strike you that being offensive helps your point come across terps? It doesn’t, FYI.
Terps, no wonder his numbers are up in Masschusetts. Brown has been doing a spectacular job of throwing Mitt Romney under the bus!

Every LEO I know has similar stories — most involve drugs or alcohol. “I got ripped off by the dealer”, is probably second to someone stole my stash. “A” reports a breaking & robbery. “B” gets caught with the loot including the dope, also play a role.
There aught to be a law against call 911 while high.
Re: Comment by Henry — September 20, 2012 @ 3:00 pm
Any president lives a very insular. Duh.
Sandi
You libs take yourselves and this blog way too seriously. Dan knows how to lighten up once in a while. You should too.
The situation in Radford with the dope buy is an interesting one. There was clearly a theft involved, so the police are required to investigate. I doubt that they’ll put any serious time into it because of what the money was for, of course. In the eyes of the law, though, what the money was for is irrelevant. If no goods or services were rendered for the money the dealer received, it is theft. That’s the civil law end. Criminally, this can be looked at in a different light, as there are laws that cover solicitation of illegal acts/goods.
I’m just amazed at the cajones this guy has. I don’t know that I would have the fortitude (or stupidity) to do the same thing. I’m wondering how much money he got taken for to involve the police in the first place. This wasn’t someone getting burned on a dime bag here, no way.
Hey Dan
Speaking of lightening up….please, please, please start a thread on Bowers wanting to run for AG. I miss the good ole Bowers bashing days.

Comment from Dave Hicks
I’ve read stories about guys calling the cops when streetwalkers they had paid refused to perform the agreed-upon services (in the diner bathroom) or idiots who called 911 when the “crack” they had bought turned out to be soap chips. Or people who called 911 because McDonald’s shorted them a packet of taco sauce at the drive-thru window.
There oughta be a law against being so dumb. These dweebs should be sentenced to school.
Quick review of the week:
We have a consulate and three others dead in Benghazi because they had no protection from this administration. Obama lied about the cause, they lied about ties to terrorism, they lied about intelligence and were inept (at best) in their assessments.
We have Obama’s HHS secretary violating a federal law which mandates dismissal and an administration glossing it over.
We have the DOJ neck deep in BS lies to the country regarding fast and furious; and those “in leadership” getting a pass.
We have Obama saying he has no time to meet with our ally in Israel Netanyahu, but he has time for Letterman, gold champagne fundraisers, Jay-z and clowns (I repeat myself).
But… the most important story for the liberal media is Romney saying that to win the election he has to “worry” about getting the votes of those who are undecided. This is all too telling of liberal mentality.
J.M.
Is there still such a thing as a “dime bag”? (showing my age..lol)
“(I repeat myself). “
Ad nauseum. If I want the Fox spin on the news I’ll turn on the TV.
This is your brain on Fox News.
to all the libs…even today, in miami, obama is spinning the yarn that the infamous anti-muslim, made in America, film was behind the outrage that deranged (oops, that was MY word) the muslims who then “demonstrated” by attacking our consulate in Libya and torturing and finally killing our ambassador, and 3 others thus far.
what’s up with your guy sayin’ one thing, and his state department sayin’ sumptin else? and if’n obama’s right (well, we ALL know he’s a leftie), then am I to dis-believe my lyin’ common sense, eyes, and ears?
#43 Hi J.M,
How does one determine, legally, that a left truly occurred in this situation? Assuming there were no witnesses, how do the police determine what happened? All the accused has to do is say “I have no idea what you are talking about. I never took any cash from that guy for drugs or any other reason.” If cops really investigated this kind of thing, it just seems like they’d be chasing Hitchcock’s MacGuffin around all day long, with no real result. Assuming the cops are unable to prove anything, what would be the “victim’s” legal recourse in this situation? A civil suit? It seems odd that our system doesn’t differentiate between LEGAL “goods and services” that were not rendered, and complaints from persons who chose to risk buying illegal goods in a market that isn’t supposed to exist…
Mike O, I imagine dime bags are still sold, but there is no way they still cost a dime! That’s Obama’s fault too!
mike O: Not really, unless you’re on good terms with the dealer. It’s still sold in fractions of an ounce, yet measured by the gram, though. I remember when paying a “dime” actually bought you a “lid” and a lid (usually a mayo jar lid piled full on a triple-beam balance) was equivalent to around a quarter-ounce. Over time, dimes became 1 to 2 gram baggies and eventually faded away. Curiously, you can still buy a nickel bag (usually referred to as a bowl pack). $20/gram isn’t uncommon now.
…at least that’s what I’ve heard.
mikeo, consulates can’t die.
Libs making a big deal about Romney trailing in Mass is a hoot. I mean it is the most far-left kookville place in the country. That Romney was able to win there was an achievement in itself. I’m afraid I wouldn’t have much tact if I were running up there. I might be tempted to tell those people about themselves in colorful terms.
I see, suzie, so you’ve taken a new vow not to harp on something over and over again? We’ll look forward to that.
Listen to who’s saying this. Haven’t heard you talk much about my predictions on Coach K, lately, Slick. Wonder why not. LOL.
So it’s turned out 0bama was warned several days ahead of the Benghazi attacks, yet did nothing. he didn’t even bother to attend briefings. He was AWOL. He needs to answer for that.
Whne did dime bags ever cost a dime? I know that’s what they were called but 10 bucks was the price. No idea what the cost is now. I gave it up a long time ago.
“left” should be “theft” in sentence one. Freudian slip? Yikes.
matt: Civil action (likely under fraud laws) would be the only recourse in this case, unless a Commonwealth’s Attorney decided to pursue criminal theft charges. In that case, I imagine he’d also go after the “victim” in this case for attempting to purchase contraband (also criminal), as well.
See, the cops really have no choice but to “go to work” investigating for the complainant, unless they have reasonable suspicions outright that said complainant is lying. If I say you stole fifty dollars from me, they still have to investigate and the lead investigating officer then decides whether to make an arrest/issue a citation or not.
Regardless, they still must take a statement and say all the reassuring things they are supposed to say. My first suspicion is that the guy got a pile of lip service and platitudes from the police and then they went on break and had a good many laughs at his expense.
All in all, it’s very tricky legal ground and it’s likely a loser case, big time. One couldn’t take this to a judge without being ridiculed right out of the courtroom, I’d imagine. I’m not sure that caveat emptor applies in this case, but I’m almost positive that the judge would utter it at least once.
I see now how you right wingers fall so hard for BS! Thank you for making it so clear.
what’s so hard to believe about what “ripoffee’s” will do these days, dano? I agree with you…the dumb crook tales are so bad it’s hard to believe them, ya know?
Consider THIS: our potus STILL maintains that the putrid film by an “unstable” aArican filmaker caused offended islamists to storm the Libyan consulate with machine guns and rpgs, then kill, torture,r – - -, Chris Stevens our ambassador then murder him, along with killing 3 of his staffers…DESPITE what good ol’ j carney says.
as far as THIS el presidente is concerned, it was “all because of a bad film…”.
What do YOU say, eh dano? I will NOT hold you to a 30 column incher on this rebuttal…please take as much space as you want, it’s your blog, after all. PLEASE tell us what obama REALLY means to say about the goings-ons in Libya!
wow, J.M. White, sounds like your phones are gonna get tapped, and your car’s gonna get followed…by BUYERS!
kristen, unfortunately it’s a small world (you must be pretty old, like I am), I lost a friend several years ago to the west nile virus…he lived in Botetourt County, and I got to know him pretty well….after he got hit with the effects. It’s nothing any of the rest of us want to get.

I’d call this remarkable, but sad to say, it’s not at all .
The GOP is a cancer, Texas …oy.
The Radford thing reminds me of a true story. Many years ago I waa a 3rd shift cashier at a convenience store near downtown. One night a paddy wagon cop came in, followed closely by a guy in drag who was giving the cop hell. Turns out, the guy in drag was a prostitute that went to the police station to file a complaint. Apparently a customer had not paid for services rendered, and the cops wouldn’t do anything about it. If that wasn’t enough, those mean ol’ cops wouldn’t give the guy a ride back to his corner. So, this guy had jumped onto the back of the paddy wagon, thinking the cop hadn’t noticed. But the cop did, of course, and proceeded to drive around Old Southwest for a while, not too fast of course, with a guy in a dress hanging onto the back of the vehicle. When the guy wouldn’t jump off, the cop stopped at the store and acted as if he had no idea the dude was back there.
Frank,
You’re so full of it that it’s sad. matt and I have a moment of common ground over dumb crooks and you seem desperate to turn that into something political.
Whether you meant to indicate that or not, it tells us that you’re desperately seeking any weirdly perceived advantage for R/R, because you’re running scared.
(I know, I know. Officially you’re not. No need to deny it in another comment)
Kristen,
Point taken… I am sure semantics will make the families of those who died (at the consulate) feel much better.
No rebuttal regarding the thrust of my post is telling
Frank: I’m in the construction game and in this game, we have a lot of drug users and drunks. It pays for me to know what’s going on and know the current lingo. Personally, it’s been more than a little while since I smoked pot myself. I don’t care what the people who work for me do on their own time, as long as they show up on time and work. I don’t allow anyone to drink on the job (though I occasionally throw a case of beer on ice for the end of the day), but I have allowed employees to smoke their pot on the job, provided they aren’t running any heavy equipment and it doesn’t slow them down.
It seems counter-intuitive, but I’ve seen production almost double when I’ve allowed smoking on the jobsite and actually had a decrease in accidents. Truth be told, the production is probably because they’re not sneaking off to the Port-A-John five times a day to smoke and the safety thing is probably because they’re not all paranoid about the boss finding out they’re high. Since I’m a micromanaging quality-control freak, the quality of the work is expected to be top notch and will be delivered as such.
The man who gave me my first job as a carpenter’s helper once said, “The best construction workers are drunks and druggies. If you don’t party or get [expletive] up, I don’t want you working for me.” He’s 74 years old, drinks a fifth of vodka every day and is still a fine carpenter.
Wiretaps and bugs are the least of my worries, Frank. I’ll talk about my history with drugs all day, because I’ve done just about all of them, cleaned up and haven’t looked back. I understand what drives the addict mind and therefore, I can connect and hopefully educate those who wish to know.
Well, now. This was a fine trip through unprompted anecdote hell. Thanks.
Frank appears to have taken up where Steve N left off.
Mikeo, I just don’t care enough.
hey J. M. White, quite probably if I’m in your shoes, I do the same thing. I worked on a concrete crew on the median wall up on I-495 around DC when I was 20. Saw much of what you say, and by god we poured the concrete! and got a case of Busch when we beat the daily goal…which was about every day…and enjoyed what followed the Busch…., but I digress. I made 4.85/hour then, was offered $6/hour if I joined the company in Florida…but chose to finish school. Glad I did. however, that job was the one on which I learned the most about life. ya gotta hit the goal!
I was just kidding about the wiretap stuff. And, good for you, and your crew.
hey dano, good for you and matt. and I mean that. Frankly, I think you guys go at it pretty good, and both make good points.
and, I’ll re-phrase my earlier comment:
I’m still hoping beyond hope that you’ll write something about the obama staff flip-flop on the pesky ol’ Libyan thingy…because it is begging to be commented on. and by “thingy”, which is how obama appears to be treating it…, and I do mean the torture and slaughter of Chris Stevens and his 3 staffers. Please help me, and others, see what obama saw when he told Letterman (Wednesday night) that it was all “because of the film some jerk made” (which was the gist of it).
since you bragged not long ago about writing a 30 colmumn inch piece on explaining what obama REALLY meant to say about his waterloo-style “you didn’t build that” flap right here in good ol’ Roanoke, what say you about obama’s “who did the Libya deed” stuff? maybe just 2 column inches?
Oh, for Pete’s sake, Frank! What the hell is a “30 column incher”? Aside from it sounding like a position from the Kama Sutra, read it back to yourself and ask if it makes any sense at all. Dan possesses neither the brevity nor the intense dexterous skill needed to put 30 columns in one inch.
Do you mean “30-inch column”? I can only take so much slaughter of the English written word before I’m compelled to say something. You’re not an unintelligent guy, Frank. If you can use “equivocate” correctly in a sentence, you should be able to not murder compound words/phrases. I know you like to be snarky and smarmy in your exchanges with Dan, but the very least you could do is pull it off eloquently.
I have no idea why this stuff irks me so. I just know I could punch a blind nun holding a box of crippled kittens when it does.
{deep breath}
Okay, I’m good now.
We were being too civil, Frank. I had to razz you about something…
Let’s see our resident wingnuts defend Republican Senator Tom Coeburn and his caucus filibustering the Jobs for Veterans bill yesterday in the Senate.
Even though fully funded and containing mostly Republican amendments, the bill failed to reach cloture by 2 votes. Using the debt as their excuse, the party that campaigned so forcefully on job creation denied our veterans a chance to gainfully rejoin society and instead chose to score cheap, political points at their expense.
“No rebuttal regarding the thrust of my post is telling”
Just one more comment before I go to bed.
Here’s the bottom line with 0bama and the Libya attacks: 0bama KNEW there would be an attack on 9-11. He was warned, and he did NOTHING. He did not beef up security at the embassies like a prudent leader would do. Instead, he left four innocent Americans to die. Instead, he concocted and spread the lie that the violence was spontaneous, and that the attack was not directed at America but rather an obscure video that had been out for months.
He needs to be held accountable by the media and asked to explain the negligence followed by the lie. THAT is the true story, the one that should dominate the airwaves now.
#55 Because there’s nothing to say — Coach K isn’t being harassed by the media, so you remain wrong about it.
I will, however, remind you again that your prediction about Obama stepping in on the Chicago teacher strike was completely out to lunch.
God you’re so easy.
#76 suz,
I fixed it for you.

He did not beef up security at the airports like a prudent leader would do. Instead, he left 2752 innocent people to die. Instead, he concocted and spread the lie that the violence was well planned, and that it was completely normal that eight guys with box cutters could kill that many people on his watch while he was attempting to read “My pet goat” to grade school kids and then having an invisible cat in the room getting (gotting?) his tongue for seven damn minutes! Because that’s what real leaders do, I guess…

Frank, you are aware that the more you parrot the 30 inch column and the opinion journalist nonsense, the more we’re all coming closer to seeing that you were right all along, right? Yup, you’ll have us all convinced in another 2 weeks or so at this rate. Thanks again for opening all our eyes. Yeah, this place really stinks, huh? Maybe you can lead us all to the promised land of redstate or some other equally pathetic waste of bandwidth. You first, Frank; we’re all right behind you…

But you want to spend more millions repetitiously, might I ask why?
“We already have a half dozen “programs” working towards the same goal.”
List them. Thanks in advance.
The funniest damn political event of the day took place in the Senate when Harry Reid called Scott Brown’s bluff and sent him scurrying off to Massachusetts with his tail between his legs. Seems ‘ol Scott was desparately trying to find an excuse to back out of his scheduled TV debate with Elizabet Warren. So he put ouit some BS statement about the press of Senate business and some votes that were going to be delayed untillater in the day would necessitate him staying in Washington to do his duty by the good people of his state. (he and his Republican colleagues were stalling a debate to make that happen). So good old He
arry just took the floor and advised them that no further votes would be taken today on any matters so that Senator Brown could keep his debate appointment and not blame the SDenate for not showing up. Bluff calleed. Brown had to scramble to hurry home where he was soundly trounced on TV by Elizabeth Warren. All he had was personal attacks on her re: thr native american thing and some sneering references to her as “Profgessor” Warren. In other words, he had nothing.
hey steve c, I’ve been wondering when you’d ride in to the rescue! Yes, I still have every confidence that Thompson will win in Wisconsin…as the trend of recent past elections indicates. The good thingy is, we have a bunch of days until the election, during which the “polls” stuff will ebb and flow, and eveytime it flows toward Thompson, I KNOW your stomach will be all scrunched up with worry.
hey steve c, I never said “this place stinks”. Ever. Not once. In fact, I’ve been trying my best to pull out from you smart libs some of your thoughts on how your leader has flip-flopped on Libya, and what REALLY caused the brutal murder of Chris Stevens and three of his staff. Hey steve c, maybe YOU know how obama managed to catch up with the rest of us (yeah, steve c…, probably even you, I bet…) about what the heck happened over there…, and why. Please tell us why you think obama lied.
Certainly I’ve put that request out to ol’ dano, because he was so pleased with himself over his 30 column incher in which he offered his opinion journalist’s view of what 0bama REALLY was saying when obama said “you didn’t build that”, right here in roanoke.
Regarding obama, I think an old Ricky Ricardo quote says it best:, “obama, you’ve got some ‘splainin to to”!
Ron May:
“8 things Jesus Didn’t Say:…”
Good stuff! The very people you’re describing are the very worst real estate clients.
hey J. M., glad you got through it. Speaking for myself, I think I really benefit when I get riled every now and then, and the blood courses through my arteries and veins with such force that I know for sure, if I survive, that all the plaque build up since the last time has been wiped clean off the walls. Great mental therapy as well.
My reference to the 30 incher column thing that seems offensive to you…well, you should’t be offended. To me, it’s only a point of reference to the size of something. It’s kinda like when I go fishing for bass, or more aptly, if I ever get around to going after some steelhead…in my mind, I’m always hoping for a 30-incher. I don’t hunt, but I suspect if I did, I’d be hoping for a good ol’ twelve pointer, ya know. Pythons? I’d be hoping for a 20-footer.
What I have been REALLY hoping for is for someone, right, left, or indifferent, to explain why obama stuck to his story about the horrible movie which HE says drove some muslims into a such frenzy they felted moved to organize, gather up their automatic weapons and rpgs, and go attack and burn the Consulate, and to kidnap, torture, then kill Chris Stevens and 3 of his staffers. obama stuck to his guns on Letterman Wednesday night…, after just about all Americans knew beyond doubt that the whole thing was planned…, and not related to that offensive movie trailor.
Heck, I bet some of the old Bugs Bunny cartoons will inflame those folks! you remember, when Bugs or Daffy would show up in “Arabia” there’s always some big swarthy Brutus-type floating around on a magic carpet of some sort…but, I digress…
Many of the libs on this blog ripped Romney for speaking out about the Libyan thing and calling it a terrorist attack. I say, “if not for him, who”?
I’ve tried to get at least ONE lib to go for it regarding obama along that line….and explain the “why” for his and hill’s refusal to refer to that horrible violence as terrorism. All we got from those two was “the un-stable American film-maker caused it…”, even as late as that Wednesday Letterman show. …haven’t gotten even one bite.
Always good to sort things out with you, J.M. You have a good day.
Frank, your obsessive, compulsive, deliberate abuse of prose is starting to really annoy me and I am no longer going to read your posts. It is just too difficult and quite frankly Frank, you prove it is a waste of time.
You need to stop lying. We have responded to your bizarre query several times. President Obama and Secretary Clinton are telling the truth as far as we know. The insulting and deliberately provocative “movie” has been the cause of protest around the world and it remains so. That a terrorist group used the protest to get into the “compound” and kill Americans is an awful tragedy.
I do not know who is “in charge” of security, getting warnings to be on guard to embassies or how much security they asked for themselves (being the people closest to the situation). I know that the blame goes to Obama no matter what, but I have the decency to wait for the investigations to explain what we do not know.
You, being the right wing blowhard and word torturer that you are, choose to blame Obama and ask for him to be “defended”. So here goes: Unless you blamed Bush for 9/11/01, shut the hell up about blaming Obama for 9/11/12!
This will be our last interaction Frank, you are simply not worth the effort and you have proven that, over and over and over.
Hey Gomer —er Frank . It’s nice that you finally found something else to obssess about besides betty’s rubbers ven though you clearly dont know what the hell you’re talking about.
Frank? You do realize that Pakistan declared a holiday today to protest that movie. What’s being completely made up is the meme that the movie hasn’t been a source of conflict. Obama’s sticking to that story because it’s true.
Now it’s crapped all over the floor, Dan…( and it’s still staring at the wall barking at nothing)
Kristen, Sandi, dave,
As long as the movie that was riling up Muslim extremists seemed to be financed by Jews, it was very useful to the right-wing.
When it turned out that it was actually made by Christians who used porn actors and who were trying to fix the blame Jews, it suddenly became very inconvenient to Rwers. So they HAD to shift the blame elsewhere.
Just look how matt’s intelligence and decency shine like a beacon! Hollins must be soooo proud!
Good luck pissing up that rope, Frank. I hope you dont get too wet.
#88 Kristen, I’m surprised you’re not aware that those tens of thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) screaming about the video and carrying signs about it are all part of an amazingly well-orchestrated fraud to fool people into thinking it’s about the video. I guess it’s only devout right wingers who can see through this deception.
Meanwhile Obama smiles at Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and ignores Isreal….and Israel gets ready to attack Iran.
Like your gas prices now? Wait till that happens if it is ignored by us.
Oh, SS. It’s fun to laugh at YOUR intelligence and decency. I mean, you really set the bar high. Whew. I can’t imagine there is enough oxygen in your house for anyone else…
Yes matt, I am sure that it is a favorite pastime of yours to “laugh” at the supposed ignorance of others. Such is the arrogance of arseholes since time began.
#94 Hmm, time to do something to rein in Israel.
Sandi, Kristen, Dave, et al:
Frank’s public display of ignorance is even worse than we’ve shown. After ignorantly calling the U.S. consulate “U.S. soil” (which is wrong), he now says that Chris Stevens was kidnapped, tortured, then killed. The truth is, Stevens was found in the burning house still breathing and was declared dead at a hospital. He was NEVER taken hostage and tortured, and his death was by smoke inhalation. He was found by Libyans trying to save whoever was in the house, and driven immediately to the hospital.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2204626/Chris-Stevens-death-Video-shows-ambassadors-body-pulled-embassy.html
That’s still a tragedy, but not one that fits the lie that Frank needs to believe in, so ignos like Frank just lie about it. It can be and is acknowledged that events overtook security plans when Ambassador Stevens went to the consulate, but to ignos like Frank, that means there was only blithe disregard for their safety, rather than that Stevens’ heroic actions were outside of longstanding security plans.
Plus, he and every other irresponsible regressive who’re demagoging these events don’t seem to know that the attack on the consulate was by a small band of terrorists, not the entire crowd of protesters, that other Libyans tried to intervene to save the consulate’s occupants (see above), and that these protests over western Muslim bashing have involved thousands in nations with populations in the tens of millions. And that the new governments in Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt are thus far not remotely “Islamo-fascist”, as the favorite insulting lie of ignos like Frank has it; in fact the Muslim Brotherhood actually did less well than was expected in the Egyptian parlimentary election, holding only abouit 20% of the seats.
Maybe someone will hire a porn crew and make an ultracheap movie trailer about Jesus being a violent pimp who molested children, murdered his parents, and started a cult for finacial gain, and then we’ll see how the “conservative” Christians react.
Frank and other ignos like him have been manipulated by their prejudicial fears no less than the protesters in Benghazi. But being in the west where the tradition of progressive thought has been fostered, he has less excuse. He has deliberately ignored being accurate, meaning the adjective for those who ignore applies to him. Frank is ignorant.
And although this post isn’t addressed to him, Frank may read it, so let me be very clear:
Frank, by saying things like Amb. Stevens was kidnapped and tortured, and by saying that foreign consulates are the soil of their countries, and by distorting reality with reckless rhetoric like saying “the mid-East is in flames”, you show intemperate ignorance. Specifically, you’re the type of angry white redneck who’s never electively spent time in the Mid-east, and accepts only the filtered interpretations that can feed your rage, and are impotent to persuade anyone but similar ignos when spouting your inaccurate bullsh*t.
Oh, and Frank, about your other obsession: was your mother by any chance named Betty?
Not ignorance, SS. Just pure hypocrisy.
Americans killed in Libya, consulates attacked in Egypt and Pakistan. American interests under State Dept warning in 20 Muslim countries.
Yep, we need rein in Israel.
You, being the right wing blowhard and word torturer that you are, choose to blame Obama and ask for him to be “defended”. So here goes: Unless you blamed Bush for 9/11/01, shut the hell up about blaming Obama for 9/11/12!
A bit different, honey. 9-11-01 was a vague warning about some attack somewhere sometime. Just like we get all the time. 9-11-12′s warning was a specific day and a specific location. You should be questioning why your boy didn’t take any precautions.
Scott M. is so easily offended at incivility, and promised he would scold uncivil leftwingers. Where the hell is he regarding Sandi’s hateful insults?
Sandi doesn’t insult. Just ask her.
Show us proof of that “specific day and a specific location” warning Suzie.
The warnings before 9/11 were not so “vague” as you want to pretend either!
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/11/opinion/the-bush-white-house-was-deaf-to-9-11-warnings.html?_r=0
Scott M seems like a nice enough guy, but he is no more effective complaining about my incivility than yours. You can run from your track record as you like. You made your bed. So did Frank, matt, Leon and others.
@98 – Ever heard of “Piss Christ?”
Dear Practitioners of Religion. We now live in the age of the internet. People are going make fun of your beliefs anonymously. Get over it and stop blowing stuff up. Thank you.
Warren, you are so spot on! Sadly that is precisely the kind of thinking and blind parroting that cheers as our sons and daughters are sent to be slaughtered in those far away places after that mindset advises on foreign policy! I have no patience for such either!
I have never said I do not insult Henry! I do not like that kind of exchange, but when it is the game, I am darned good at it, as you well know. If you do not want it back, don’t send it out. Suzie may pucker now as she likes, her bed was made here long ago and no, I have no intentions of getting over it. She called me one too many names, one too many times!
I will not respect nor treat respectfully the people who disrespect President Obama and call him names and tell lies. I will not treat them as deserving of respect.
Scott M seems like a nice enough guy, but he is no more effective complaining about my incivility than yours. You can run from your track record as you like. You made your bed. So did Frank, matt, Leon and others.

LYPOCRISY Incarnate = Sandi
Meanwhile, SS’s bed is outside under the house (the tires provide a small crawl space).
Oh great, Leon is back with his made up words and their meaning. Should we play too?
LAMEOCRISY Incarnate = Leon
Anymore childish games you want to play? Whenever your butts are getting kicked, you always resort to how mean we are. Or how unfair Dan is. Or how biased the media is. Or how __________Obama is. Pitiful!
Hands down, the company or the persona of a dog would be preferable to you matt! Any day!
We can do this all day children? When is recess over for you?
This thread was more interesting when it was about weed.
I’m just sayin’.
#98 You’re still trying to pass off that kidnap and torture lie, Frank?
#109 matt, buddy, quit rolling around in your own excrement. It’s ugly.
#115 gdad, you’re a pretty weak defender of the blog. You need to work on that, man.
Cheers.
hey gdad, only today has hill decided to acknowledge that what happened in Libya was a terrorist attack. given the obama administration’s propensity to get things “late”, I like my chances about them coming around and offering more details about the ugly stuff which many news reporters are alleging happened to our ambassador….in another 1 or 2 weeks.
hey warren, get mellow, man. seriously. my mother? really?
i notice you endorse the full and complete posture of of the central planner… even now, you stick to the mantra which susan rice speyed all over the Sunday talk shows. however, now we know obama knew he was lying when he withheld the facts about what happened in Libya (the reason i say obama “knew” what really happened 10 days ago, when Romney and the rest of us did, is because…, well, otherwise, he’d look incredibly, incredibly, stupid…which his ego cannot bear. ergo, he went the road more often travelled by politicians, which was to be called a liar…and thinking he be saved from being called “stupid”.. Then, much to obama’s chagrin, Romney called that “terrorism”! boy, did THAT rub salt in obama’s wound… all the while he was hearing those mocking chants in Cairo “obama, we are all osama! obama doesn’t know how to handle ridicule of any kind, but public ridicule, in CAIRO…you know he was really pissed off by that!
warren, while you might feel the need to disparage my mother on your post, I’ll take the high road. seriously, warren, that’s kiddie school stuff.
some might find this of interest…,
in Thursday’s edition of the RTS, a wire report appeared with the headline, “Berlin notes Reagan call to tear down the wall”. Berlin’s mayor is compelled to honor a US Presient for doing something remarkably good for the people of Berlin, and for all of Germany.
Meanwhile, maybe also on Thursday, obama and hillary apparantly sang a duet in a paid-for commercial appearing on Pakistani television, in which they appeared to plead, appease, apologize, and implore the good pakistanis’ to not hold them responsible for the “movie trailor..”
What a contrast.
#117 You’re welcome to link away to tales of those ugly things, Frank. Why don’t you do that instead of just claiming it’s true?
I’ve looked around and even Romney toady Fox News doesn’t mention it. Fox News DOES mention that Obama used the term “acts of terror” in his early remarks last week. Fox News Romney toady also says that even Libya has just recently come to the conclusion that it was intentional terrorism.
Because it’s election season and right wingers will do anything possible to defeat Obama, including lying and distorting, we will of course see conservatives jump all over any change in the narrative of what happened as if it had been a deliberate coverup of something or other.
For folks who are demanding with outrage to know why Obama didn’t have the whole and full story IMMEDIATELY, I’ll remind them that our very own Shrub man president studied the WMD situation in Iraq for months and months — and he still either got the wrong story and came to the wrong conclusion about it (as he has admitted) or he lied.
The official investigations of what happened during those hours in Libya will take weeks and the “facts” will change. That’s the way it goes in these things. And yet you idiots want a final concrete story in days. Yeah, we know why. You think it will help Rmoney win. You don’t actually give a damn about the truth or four dead Americans.
If only Warren’s mother had access to what Betty gets for free these days, ol’ Dano’s blog would have a lot less petulance. Oh well, Lord knows she tried.

matt,
You need to grow up and get some control over what comes out of your mouth. Additionally, you need to learn that if you want to be treated with some semblance of respect you have to treat others respectfully.
OK, you right wingers are so damned happy to promulgate the right wing media, MY TURN:
“Chosen as a kind of enforcer-in-chief, Romney betrayed a zeal far beyond the call of duty. Bishop Romney tried to stop a mother of four whose health was seriously endangered by her pregnancy from having an abortion. The church allows abortion in cases of rape, incest, and danger to the life of the mother, provided a male LDS authority gives permission to the pregnant woman. Romney’s superior had already told the woman to proceed for the sake of her health; Romney intervened. Romney refused to allow an infertile couple to take advantage of the LDS adoption service until the wife agreed to quit her job and be a stay-at-home mother. Other reliable reports of Mitt’s years as a Mormon clergyman have him excommunicating adulterers, calling homosexuals under his authority “perverse,” warning a middle-aged divorced woman that she was not allowed to have sex, and telling a leading Mormon feminist, “You’re not my kind of Mormon.”

Let’s look at Paul Ryan’s representation of his own district: Never elect an ideologue!
“The results of Ryan’s policies and the resulting economic wreckage havebeen grimly predictable. The persistently high unemployment has been accompanied by rising signs of social disintegration and distress throughout most of the district.
• Foreclosures in Rock County — home to Janesville and Beloit — have quadrupled since 2000. They have nearly tripled throughout the entire district.
• In Janesville, the GM shutdown created such a surplus of workers begging for jobs that the average wage fell from $23.27 in 2007 to $18.82 in 2010.
• Within three months of the GM closing just before Christmas in 2008, the number of battered women seeking shelter at the YWCA’s Janesville family violence center nearly tripled.
• Janesville has been afflicted by a major increase in child abuse and neglect.
• Janesville’s rate of child poverty has nearly doubled to 47.1% since 2000. The percentage of children eligible for free or reduced-cost lunches ranges from 43% to 69% in the major cities of his district.
• Janesville has also experienced a near-doubling in suicides over the first two years since the GM closing.”

We know there is a recession and we are all “suffering”…. well not all:
“The lastest Forbes numbers, which are slightly different from the Bloomberg billionaire’s index above, indicate that the brothers’ have increased their wealth yet again by another quarter, from $50 billion to $62 billion.
That means more money to keep funding the attack on workers, environmental safety, regulations and the politicians who support these things.”

Let’s review Romney’s stand on immigration, well BEFORE he said he was not going to round up and deport people that is:
http://www.alternet.org/hot-news-views/stephen-colbert-hammers-mitt-latino-outreach-and-self-deportation?akid=9429.1089739.7lfcTP&rd=1&src=newsletter714511&t=4
And now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty truth:
“The Racism Behind Anti-Redistribution Politicking”
“…there are a bunch of working class white folks out there who don’t have any problem with socialism for them–just as long as it doesn’t go tothose people. That’s something you’re still not supposed to say out loud in polite society, even though it’s obvious as a matter of simple historical record: FDR and his policies were wildly popular among Southern whites and similar demographics until the Civil Rights movement, at which point an abrupt political about-face began in which all such social spending was suddenly outrageous.
It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together. It just takes an honest commentator to risk the manufactured outrage of the right-wing masses to point it out.
…Of course. It’s about those other freeloaders. You know, those people. Not hard-workin’ folks like them. They just need a hand up. Those people just want a hand out, if you know what I mean.”
http://www.alternet.org/hot-news-views/racism-behind-anti-redistribution-politicking?akid=9429.1089739.7lfcTP&rd=1&src=newsletter714511&t=8
Ron,
I don’t need to hear your one-sided BS. Scroll up. It was your lib buddy Warren who felt it necessary to bring another posters’ mother into the discussion. In fact, if I remember correctly, Warren’s first comment to me on this blog referred to my own mother. If you want your liberal buddies to be respected, you should aim your ‘respect’ microscope at them. If not, then stop whining.
Frank, you’ve spent days trying to parse the meaning of statements made by both the President and some proxies during a fluid situation just to justify your calling the President a liar. You spent another thread last week parsing in excruciating detail why you thought someone on this blog was a liar, without persuading anyone. So, since you imagine yourself an exceptional judge of textual meaning, tell us how this straightforward question disparages your mother:
“Was your mother by any chance named Betty?”
Identify the context that would make that question disparaging, and provide examples of any previous declarative statements that might inform the subtext of the question. Include declarative statements that YOU have made about the “Betty”s” of the world in making your case for why that question is disparaging.
Or, if you’re too cowardly and/or dishonest to do that, try telling us why you didn’t contest this assertion: that by deliberately ignoring being accurate in the examples given, “Frank is ignorant”. That’s a declarative statement that I’ll stand by, with examples to prove it.
C’mon, Frank, explain the context for why you think asking about your mothers name is disparaging. Until you do, it is a routine question, and your “high road” is as IMAGINARY as Rmoney’s irresponsible working class, and Ryan’s marathon time, and WMD in Iraq, and the benefits to the middle class of tax cuts for the top 1%, and BP’s readiness for a deep sea blowout.
gdad, you are the first lib i have seen post on ol’ dano’s blog ANYTHING related to Bush and Iraq which might indicate that maybe, just maybe, Bush didn’t lie. that’s probably going to cause some hearburn on the part of more than a few, but i applaud your courage and open-mindedness.
by the way, a FOX news opinion journalist very pointedly said several days ago that there are “reports” saying that the ambassador was raped…which is just how the true facts concerning the terrorist attack in Libya began…
#130 Let’s see those “reports,” Frank.
My main point, however, was, Frank, that if a president like the Shrub can spend months and months “studying” something and still get it completely and absolutely wrong, it’s no real surprise that a president reacting to something that just happened and about which he still has sketchy details might get it wrong. It doesn’t make him a “liar.”
(BTW, I tend to think Bush DID lie. Or he was so determined to hear what he wanted that he willfully ignored contrasting facts.)
