Speaking of Obama phones, is there any truth that over one million have been distributed in Ohio alone?

  6. Ron May | October 24, 2012 at 12:37 pm

With help like this how can Mitt lose??? :)

  7. MarkJ | October 24, 2012 at 12:41 pm

She has a point. “Mitt” does rhyme with a lot more words than “Obama”. She gave two good examples.

For those still sitting on the fence, I think she displayed a couple of fully developed arguments for voting for Mitt.

This is a decisive and robust lady. Clearly she takes no pleasure in sitting on a fence. I think there are many folks who admire her “can do” attitude.

  12. Kristen | October 24, 2012 at 1:47 pm

And david, why don’t you do some research and find out about those 1 million phones in Ohio. Report back.

  13. dave | October 24, 2012 at 1:50 pm

I can think of at least one other word that rhymes with Mitt. However, under Dan’s rules I don’t think it would be allowed.

  14. Ron May | October 24, 2012 at 1:53 pm

That word would be “fit” right dave?? :)

  23. Shrillary | October 24, 2012 at 3:05 pm

And just in case the RWers pushing that old cell phone lie don’t bother to click on the links provided…guess who instituted this “free” phone service?

Lifeline: Affordable Telephone Service for Income-Eligible Consumers was originated in 1984 by the Reagan Administration and expanded by GW Bush to include cell phones.

  24. Contrasuzie | October 24, 2012 at 3:06 pm

I wonder if pammalapdog’s mom had a Reaganphone. I would think if she qualified for free meds from Pharma, she would be eligible for one.

“Lifeline: Affordable Telephone Service for Income-Eligible Consumers was originated in 1984 by the Reagan Administration and expanded by GW Bush to include cell phones.”

Hillary, all true, but it won’t make a difference to the Obama haters on this blog. Truth doesn’t matter to them. It’s one more item in a list of nifty (they believe) smears they can use against Obama.

And they have absolutely no regard for whether it’s true or not.

That’s one basic difference you see between Obama supporters and haters on this blog. Obama supporters will admit the truth. They’ll post right here that they are disappointed with Obama for not getting U.S. troops out of Afghanistan sooner, or for not closing Gitmo, or reining in the so-called Patriot Act.

They’ll admit the recovery has been anemic.

Since the GOP convention, you have never seen a post here by a Romney partisan acknowledging any disappointment whatsoever in their candidate, or any of the faults that he has. They are so blinded by their hatred that they cannot bring themselves to do it.

  27. Lynda K | October 24, 2012 at 3:28 pm

    So true Dan!!

Do you think PP is going to apologize for spreading the incorrect info on the Safe Link program and that they aren’t paid for with taxpayer money?

  31. Mattyr | October 24, 2012 at 5:00 pm

If you say you have an obamaphone but really it’s a reaganphone you might have romnesia. Did I do that right?

  32. Mattyr | October 24, 2012 at 5:08 pm

If in 2008 you said your opponent had nothing and resorted to personal attacks and petty politics while boasting hope and change, then turned around in 2012 and played the same game, you might have romnesia.

  33. Mattyr | October 24, 2012 at 5:11 pm

If you blame gwb for 9/11 yet don’t blame Obama for the economy in 2012, you may have romnesia.

  34. Warren | October 24, 2012 at 5:20 pm

The Obamaphone nonsense has become current among regressives who ignore that it’s a Reagan/Bush program because of a viral video of a stupid woman talking about her phone and praising free stuff from the government. It offers reinforcement to every tired stereotype that regressives hold about the poor, including especially race, and gets played a lot in regressive echo chamber media.

Besides them ignoring the program’s history, and believing that the anecdotal example represents a larger whole, regressives who delight in the video also betray a transparently racist inclination to think the obamaphone lady says anything about Obama’s governance.

  35. John Wilburn | October 24, 2012 at 5:27 pm

Sorry, I didn’t hear a single word she said.
    :)

  36. Dan Casey | October 24, 2012 at 5:31 pm

    Mattyr,

Obama isn’t saying Romney has nothing. Obama is noting that Romney is full of plans – but they’re vague (which is factual) and that they contradict Romney’s previous positions (also factual), and that for that reason he’d difficult to evaluate as a candidate and that he’s not necessarily trustworthy (which is a logical deduction).

On the other hand, if you believe a candidate should not be held accountable to for what he says, ever, then you’ve lost most of your basis for criticizing Obama.

  37. colorado max | October 24, 2012 at 6:54 pm

obuma is the best liar and dancer around the truth than “BOGANGLES” and
    casey is providing the tambourine.

  38. Dan Casey | October 24, 2012 at 7:44 pm

    colorado max,

Was that you that recently got out of the NRV regional jail for a bit o’ DUI action?

  39. mike O | October 24, 2012 at 7:46 pm

Without seeing the video, I would agree with Mark J.
I would investigate those two “fully developed arguments” further. lol

    Dan, re: 3:20
You, and most liberals, confuse “hatred” with “disappointment”. No matter how many times or in how many ways you say it, it does not become truth.
Unfortunately for obama, his programs have failed this country. His promises of “hope and change”, “bringing people together”, “honesty and transparency”; have all proven to be lies.
Obama never really wanted the “job” of president, he only wanted to win the election, which he did and has spent the entire time running for the next election and not doing the “job”.

It is time for someone to step up and do the “job”. The choice is simple, we have seen what obama “can’t or won’t” do, so let’s see what Romney will do…

I also agree with your statement that a candidate should be held accountable for what he says. Obama said that if he could not “fix” things in 3 years, it will be “a one term proposition”. He said it, it’s his standard. I am sure that you will hold him to it when you vote for Romney; if for no other reason than to hold yourself to your own high standard.

  40. Suzie | October 24, 2012 at 8:11 pm

So–instead of this silly video, where is the one James O’Keefe did where Jim Moran’s told him how to conduct voter fraud?

Why aren’t you showing it, Dan? Not hypocritical are you?

Thank you for setting the record straight!

Has anyone else noticed how distracted she gets by airplanes? She must be a dirigible gal!

  45. Dan Radmacher | October 24, 2012 at 8:46 pm

Since James O’Keefe is infamous for selectively editing his videos, Dan C. should not show it until O’Keefe releases the full, raw, unedited video, which will probably show even more entrapment than the original.

  46. Dan Casey | October 24, 2012 at 8:54 pm

    Dan R,

I watched the criminal O’keefe video’s on Pat Robertson’s website. It’s something like 26 minutes long and it’s boring as dog—-. You know the story is a hard one to tell because O’Keefe, the narrator, keeps having to cut in and explain what the hell is going on.

I’d rather see the video of when O’Keefe tried to entice the comely TV reporter onto a yacht decorated with dildos!

Or when he messed with the Democratic politician’s office telephone line. Isn’t that what he got convicted for? And that’s why he couldn’t go to the RNC, right? He was still on probation?

Thank you, Dan for pointing out so succinctly, the most important difference between conservatives and liberals… honesty.

    ———

    Lynda K.

    I beg to differ.

I do believe that Dan was addressing Obama supporters vs. Obama haters — which, IMHO, does not translate to all liberals vs. all conservatives. I have know very dishonest liberals and very honest conservatives.

FWIIW, I think it goes way beyond basic honesty.

Basic honesty requires the ability to know when one is right and when one is wrong and then willingly choosing false option.

As I have posted a couple time before, research shows that cognitive incompetence leads to inflated self-assessments of when one is right. [ see: . http://tinyurl.com/yca2435 ] IMHO, the hate that Dan refers to in the true-believer Obama haters creates an inability to think clearly and results in reduced abilities in many social and intellectual domains, which in turn robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize when they are wrong. So, the lack of regard for whether something is true or is not is a function of hate driven incompetence as apposed to willful dishonesty.

IMHO, there is a big difference between true-believer Obama haters (often identified by racial, Ad Hominem attacks disparaging name-calling, etc) vs. those folk who dislike Obama’s policies, positions, goals for the country, etc.

One could be very conservative and attack Obama’s policies, positions, goals for the country, etc. w/o being intellectually dishonest.

  49. Dave Hicks | October 24, 2012 at 9:40 pm

    Re: Comment by Bill Perdue — October 24, 2012 @ 4:13 pm

    See my last.

IMHO, it is unlikely he will apologize. Lack of cognitive competence leads to such inflated self-assessments of when one is right that it generally results in a failure to apologize — even when shown strong evidence that one was wrong.

    Comment by Dan Casey — October 24, 2012 @ 3:20 pm

    Lypocrisy.

Hatred or racism has nothing to do with opposing Obama. Your president (I
do not call him that because I’m not sure he is even eligible to be such)
is the worst in the history of the United States. Before you start with the birther crap. . .have a second thought. . .based on his book delineating his parentage and the 1875 Supreme Court decision Minor vs. Happerset which established precedent for the definition of natural born
citizen he cannot be eligible if the book is in fact true.

There is much more. Scandals and unlawfulness are the only legacy of this administration.

Obamacare is an abomination passed by a Democrat majority Senate and Congress who did so without reading the bill and without a single Republican vote. Not one of those who voted for this bill, which was passed despite a majority of citizens (per polls) voicing their
opposition, should ever be reelectable to public office again.

Fast and Furious is an international atrocity. Over 300 Mexican citizens have died and at least one US Border Patrol agent because this administration decided to walk guns accross the border to undermine support for the second amendment rights of US citizens. These guns went
to the Sinaloa cartel, primarily, and the White House admits they knew it
was being done illegally because Obama has exercised Executive Privilege
to protect his Attorney General who is the first in US history to be held in contempt of Congress both civilly and criminally.

The US ambassador to Libya was recently murdered by terrorists. E-mails recently discovered reveal that the White House knew, within two hours of
the attack, that it was a terrorist action and not a spontaneous reaction
to a film about Mohammed that no one had seen. The attack lasted over seven hours. No action was taken to rescue our Ambassador despite assets being available in the theatre. For over two weeks Obama, the Secretary of State and the UN ambassador lied to the world and every US citizen about the attack. Obama lied while people died. BTW Dan, this program
did not start under Bush as you have previously insinuated.

Also consider the other scandalous events, actions and inactions of this
corrupt administration. Solyndra and a host of green energy program payola schemes, Black Panther’s polling interference, Delphi pension bailout handled in illegal manner by Treasury, the DOJ’s selective enforcement of valid laws including immigration policy and DOMA, lack of control and oversight on foreign campaign contributions, the DHS’s apparent establishment and arming of a Federal police force, the DHS’s
sexual harrassment scandal, the GSA’s escapades on the taxpayer’s dime,
and Sebelius’s illegal participation in campaigning for Obama in her capacity of being a Federal employee.

Gas at $4.00 a gallon, unemployment at 14-20% (real unemployment), $16 Trillion in debt, no budget in 4 years, billions of stimulus funds gone,
QE 1 with no effect, QE 2 with no effect, QE 3 in no effect progress, more troops dying in Afganistan and Irag in 4 years than under the Bush administration, apology tours, loss of all allies in middle east except Israel which is compromised, and Iran 4 years closer to nuclear weapons are additional matters which must be considered as they are far too many to be coincidence; perhaps treason.

What’s to hate? The real question which each of you liberal should be asking yourselves is why, or how, you can support this administration?
    Do you hate the U.S.A.?

  51. Suzie | October 24, 2012 at 9:56 pm

So after making up stuiff about alleged GOP cheating, Dan totally ignores a video where a Democrat operate describes in detail how to commit actual voter fraud.

    Priceless.

  52. Dan Casey | October 24, 2012 at 10:26 pm

“by the way, as you know i don’t live in the roanoke valley and i stopped partaking years ago.”

cm, I don’t know where you live, but your comments are (suspiciously) worded like Jack McGuire/Tony’s (who’s been banned from this blog) used to be. But he sneaks in a comment now and then, under another name, from IP addresses registered to many different places around this country. If you’re not him, then you didn’t spent time recently in the NRV regional jail, and you have my apologies.

  53. Dan Casey | October 24, 2012 at 10:29 pm

“One could be very conservative and attack Obama’s policies, positions, goals for the country, etc. w/o being intellectually dishonest.”

And, you can be moderate (or liberal) and disagree with some of Obama’s policies, positions, etc. while being intellectually honest AND intending to vote for him, too!

You kooks can’t be pleased, Granddad. You complain about us not making ourselves available (although I have offered to meet people and told people the exact time and place the day before and they still don’t show). Now you’re griping about conservatives who want to get together.

  60. Shrillary | October 25, 2012 at 8:42 am

I see another RWer [Leon] has the Faux News talking points down. I think the RWers should designate one of their “group” to be their
parrot-person – then the rest of us non-fact challenged conservatives, libertarians and progressives would not have to either 1. scroll past the parroting long untrue screeds, or, 2. scroll past the boring parroted duplicate screeds with their trademark childish name calling …You guys know who you are…

  61. Marked Man | October 25, 2012 at 9:38 am

Actually, gdad, Miriam and others have organized and assembled get-togethers before.

I don’t know why you think she is inadequate though? Do you have a problem with women taking the lead concerning various things?

  62. gdad | October 25, 2012 at 9:48 am

#58 & 61 Wow, both suzie and MMM completely missed my point (and Max’s point). Way to read carefully.

And then we have MMM making up yet more stuff.

  63. Shrillary | October 25, 2012 at 9:49 am

MM – I am pretty sure you are smarter than your posts would indicate…why keep twisting things to try and make a dishonest “point” as in your post, #61? Or are you from the Facts Schmacks school of blogging?
