Funny, funny stuff from SNL nailing whiny iPhone 5 users.
http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/tech-talk-iphone-5/1420759
But I can’t understand why they didn’t do a VP debate skit, just like they didn’t do 2 presidential debate skits.
I offer no illusion that the article linked below is unbiased. Nonetheless, it does point out that WalMart is one of the largest welfare queens in our country today.

What about the letter from the coal miners who Dan lead us to believe were made to go to the Romney event in Ohio? 500 of them signed a letter stating no attendance records were done or no one was made to go to the event. Oh they also said President Obama’s policies are killing their industry. Can’t wait for the retorts to this.
-The letter was forged by the man.
-Obama is coal friendly and is not shutting down coal fired electric plants.
-Romney is the devil himself.
@1- Hilarious Iphone skit and VP debate skit. I still find SNL pretty funny. Sedakis is great.
Speaking of the gutter, hopefully Pres. Obama will challenge Mitt Romney on the more than 30 lies he told during the first debate.

This will be concrete evidence for the leftist since one is Natl Geo and the other is from Europe. This is too good.
James Swingle, the jerkface owner of the mine admitted what he’d done. Whatever he’s pressured them into signing now isn’t relevant.
#4 I enjoyed both of them, UTR. SNL has been the same throughout the decades — hits and misses. Some folks remember “their” era as the best ever, but it really goes back and forth. Sedakis IS great.
#3 Time for suzie to show up and blast those miners for being union members.
#3 Obama hasn’t personally shut down a single coal fired plant that I know of. The age of the plants and the fact that gas is a lot cheaper now HAS shut down quite a few.
Kristen
I think James Swingle is saying that the mine owning Romney supporter was lying.
Dan, he was certainly confused about the meaning of the word “mandatory”. I imagine since the Obama campaign has co-opted that event for an ad, he’s feeling the heat about it.
#6 Good lord, James Swingle, do you even bother to read what you link to? From the NatGoe article:
“Really, it’s consistent with our understanding of a warming world. Some of the regional details are not something we can easily predict. But the general trends of decay of the sea ice cover and decay of the Greenland ice sheets and ice caps is in line with what we expect.
The Antarctic has not been warming up as fast as the models thought. It’s warming up, but slower. So it’s all consistent with a warming planet.”
#2 pammalamadingdong — if she’s telling the truth about owning 7-Elevens and is the person I think she is — is getting rich partially off our taxes. I would think she would LOVE the federal gummint.
#11 Dan- No I think it means that a lot of the debt that your kids will take on in the future was due to a mistaken theory… You know, since Obama dumped BILLIONS into Solyndra and other ‘GREEN’ companies that failed.
Awesome quote from Paul Krugman: “So let’s be brutally honest here. The Romney-Ryan position on health care is that many millions of Americans must be denied health insurance, and millions more deprived of the security Medicare now provides, in order to save money. At the same time, of course, Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan are proposing trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the wealthy. So a literal description of their plan is that they want to expose many Americans to financial insecurity, and let some of them die, so that a handful of already wealthy people can have a higher after-tax income.”

Amazing how the Koche Brothers bought the Tea Party to complain about alternative energy. Bought the Tea Party to complain abount their Keystone Pipeline not being approved. Bought the Tea Party to push for more oil drilling. You would think that if the Tea Party had any grassroots, they would support alternative energy. Instead they sing in concert with the Koche’s. The Kooche’s have bought them a Presidential candidate whose every policy put out so far has been found impossible. Not just a half truth, but complete lies that will not work. From his tax plan, to his Syrian policies, they simply have been shown that they will not do what he is promising.
Reading Mitt’s lips will give you fits as smoothly remit patooey.

#5…Poor little obama just got his ass kicked up one side and down the other and you crybabies just can`t accept it…The altitude…he was tired…He had a hang-nail…his ears were heavy….He got his ass kicked….Period.
#17….Beason, your second messiah at arms told us 8-10 months ago that the Tea Party didn`t exist(harry reid, now that i have your attention)…Well, you drank the Kool-aid, so which is it ? Is the Tea Party a Major faction or does it not exist ? I assume you`ll deal with the presented facts as the rest of the libs always do…. run away from them…we`re waiting…….
IF we are lucky, when obama loses in Novemeber, they will all agree up on the hill just to erase any ‘legacy’ of his failed presidency from history.
I love that the Democrat’s definition of “lie” is now “Where we disagree with him”. Spin….spin….spin.
A lie is when you say you didn’t have sex with that woman when you really did have sex with that woman. A lie is when you say an attack on an embassy was caused by a Youtube video when you know it was caused by terrorists. It’s not when a candidate states something that you think isn’t accurate.

Here’s a little philosophical saying:
“Through perseverance many people win success out of what seemed destined to be certain failure.”
Benjamin Disraeli
Let’s see what you have to say after the debate on Tuesday…pretty sure even if every legitimate news media outlet praised the President – your “reality” will deny it…that is after all “proper” RWer behavior.
Remember the lie told by Romney that he had no idea about what the President was talking about when the topic of tax breaks for corporations to move companies overseas?
“Romney challenged Obama’s statement that companies can take a tax deduction for shipping jobs overseas.
Look, I’ve been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you are talking about. I maybe need to get a new accountant. The idea that you get a break for shipping jobs overseas is simply not the case,” Romney said.
What Obama was actually describing was A TAX BREAK FOR ORDINARY BUSINESS EXPENSE, INCLUDING DEDUCTIONS ALLOWED FOR A COMPANY IF IT CLOSES ITS PLANT IN THE UNITED STATES AND MOVES IT TO ANOTHER COUNTRY.” [my caps]
So Romney the great “businessman” doesn’t even know he has taken that deduction during his Bain years? Hardly plausible.
and this:
“In July [2012], Senate Republicans BLOCKED a Democratic proposal that would have provided a tax credit to companies that move production back to the United States. It also would have ended the tax break that companies can claim when closing a domestic plant, even if operations are moving abroad.” [my caps]

If Romney is not ashamed to BE a liar, I’m not ashamed to CALL him one.
Who do I believe people that work for Murray Energy who the story was about or a newspaper editor 400 miles away? Hmmmmm?

Marked Man, never erase history of huge failure. Future generations need to view instead of recreating the failure.

Jeff, I am disappointed that Pres. Obama didn’t more aggressively challenge the constant lying Mitt engaged in during the first debate. I believe he will do so during the upcoming debate and the last one later in the month.
An example of how far down into the gutter Republicans have gone read the link below. To his credit, former Wisconsin Governor Thompson later apologized for his son’s remarks. Nonetheless, what Jason Thompson said, in an unguarded moment, is representative of the attitude of many main stream Republicans today.
http://beforeitsnews.com/opinion-liberal/2012/10/tommy-thompsons-son-tells-crowd-send-obama-back-to-chicago-or-kenya-2449164.html
@27 – I look at it this way. He lowered expectations and laid down the first debate. So he’s let the media and all the talking head critics and armchair pols tell him what to do and say. Then throw Biden out there as an extreme opposite and listen to what the media and talking heads armchair jockeys say about that type of performance (that doesn’t matter).
Then go out in the second and third and do exactly what the polls, media and talking head critics have been saying about the debates since the abysmal first debate.
The first debate was a set up. All he has to do is speak at the Tuesday debate and he’ll perform 10x better than the first one.
Gonna be interesting.
Ron May:
“Jeff, I am disappointed that Pres. Obama didn’t more aggressively challenge the constant lying Mitt engaged in during the first debate. I believe he will do so during the upcoming debate and the last one later in the month.”
Relax, Ron. The media has already scored it for your candidate. He could stand up there and belch the Star Spangled Banner and still be declared the winner.
…..provided he knows the Star Spangeld Banner, of course.
The pressure is definitely on Obama tomorrow night to perform. Because a performance is what it is, and that salient fact apparently slipped his mind last time.
He got his ass kicked….Period.

Thank you for your eloquent assessment! I agree that Romney won on style, a style that he has honed selling tax shelters, LBOs and outsourcing American jobs to China.
Obama had the look of “who is this guy” which is understandable given that Romney flipped on just about everything he’d been saying up until the debate.

I got two pieces of mail from Rmoney today.
#30…so, so true…anyone that actually waits to hear the debate outcome from the CNN`s, MSNBC`s, CBS`s,ABC`s, or NBC`s of the world, already has their mind made up anyway….Obama has nothing..absolutely nothing, other than to lie…and everything he says is proven to be non-factual w/in mere minutes, which makes him more of a loser in the mind of the voter …If thats possible ! Economy…Benghazi…Unemployment….It is DISMAL in every aspect of this Administration !
If anyone did need the definition of “lie” they would not ask you for it Henry.
A lie is “marked by or containing falsehoods”, it has nothing to do with the relative merits of the lie. Clinton’s lie is not bigger than a Romney lie, an Obama lie is not bigger or worse than a Ryan lie. That is your erroneous system.
First the parent of one of the security people killed in Libya has to tell Romney to quit trying to exploit a brief meeting with his or her son (I don’t remember whether it was the mother or father), and now Ambassador Steven’s father has to call Romney out:
“The father of Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya who was killed in the attack in Benghazi last month, said his son’s death shouldn’t be politicized in the presidential campaign.
“It would really be abhorrent to make this into a campaign issue,” Jan Stevens, 77, said in a telephone interview from his home in Loomis, California, as he prepares for a memorial service for his son next week.”
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-14/libyan-ambassador-s-death-not-a-political-issue-says-dad.html
What is with the premise that the debate decides anything? Granted the “low effort” voters seem to be wallowing in it, but really? Did Obama win every debate he was in when he ran in 2008? Has Romney won every debate he has been in during his career? Are you all that shallow? Does the platform, campaign promises, record and fact checked remarks mean anything?
Amazing Dave Hicks! Thanks.
Dan…you mentioned some time back that it was going to get `vicious` on here before the election….Just when can we expect that ? Oh, by the way…when were you going to let us know who was the culprit in `creating` the Black panthers…James O` keefe or Karl Rove ? You said it was one …..OR…..the other…..which one was it, Dan.? You`ve had plenty of time….Time for you to `skirt` as well, I assume.
Someday the Republicans will stop agreeing to allow leftwing moderators and network run the debates. CNN has a history of using Democrat activists to pose as “undecided Republicans” and ask questions designed to make Republicans look bad. We know full well Romney will be treated as the incumbent by the “questioners” and grilled as if HE is the one who has run things for four years. 0bama won’t face any scrutiny over his failed policies.

gdad,
The murders in Libya are not “campaign issues” they are issues that cut to the heart of obama policies of protecting our diplomats.
It is the obama “campaign” people who are attempting to put off the answers to the important questions. Apparently you “conveniently” missed the mother of the fallen soldier who only wants “the truth” and has been consistently met with lies.
The administration has been caught in a lie and a cover up; campaign or not the truth should come forth. If the truth is hidden, it is because of the obama campaign.
Someone should remind obama that he IS the president and the responsibility lies at his feet; blaming others is getting old and tired.

However, I was just curious; could you define “low effort” voters?
Do they include the 8% who will never vote for obama because he is “black”? Do they include the 93% that will vote for obama just because he is “black”
Do they include the 20+% hard right or left that will never change their opinion?
Should there be a test for these “low effort” voters to make sure they truly understand issues before the cast their vote?
mike O, the following story is true to the extent that the conversation happened where, when and as I describe:
Friday evening I picked up some beer on the way home from work. And I spent a few minutes talking to the clerk in the convenience store. It was a guy so we know it wasn’t pammala. He’s a Vietnam vet.
“Do you know that lady . . ?” he said, and he mentioned a woman I actually do know. She’s a a local business owner who I’ve quoted at least twice in my columns. Her husband owns a different local business, and I’ve contracted with the latter for a couple of jobs.
“She was in here the other night, buying something,” the clerk said. “I guess she noticed I had a red shirt on or something. And she said, ‘Are you REGISTERED TO VOTE?’ and I said, “I sure am.’ And she said, “You’re voting for Romney, right?’ I guess she assumed I was because I’m white, and I had a red shirt. And I told her, ‘No, I’m not voting for Romney. Are you kidding?’
“Well, she totally flew off the handle. She started talking about business regulations [on her husband's business] and all the rules he had to follow under the Obama administration, and all the fines he’d face if he didn’t.
“And I said, ‘Lady, if he has some rules he has to follow, he needs to take care of business. All of us have to follow rules. He needs to figure that out.
“She lost it. She started shouting and yelling. And as she walked out the door, she delivered her parting shot: ‘You all ARE A BUNCH OF COMMUNISTS!’ ”
Now, I’m not going to get into the woman’s name, or the name of her husband’s business. But the specific regulations the woman was talking about were enacted under the Bush administration in 2008. Their implementation was delayed until 2010 so that the industries affected would have 2 years to figure out how to comply.
And now, the woman is blaming Obama for regs that the Bush Administration apparently felt strongly enough about, health and safety wise, to enact.
There is not ONE iota of proof that a Romney administration would feel ANY differently about said regulations. But that gal sure believes it would . . . and wrongly.
BillPerdue, no idea, but I like them wasting their marketing money on me.
mikeo, the book on that episode was closed a while ago. Too little, too fake, too late. And why do businesses have such trouble playing by the rules?
Oh and Doto…drop the “we” crap and try speaking for yourself. Challenging, I know. Nothing more pathetic than someone who can’t speak up without an army of apocryphal supporters.
The robocalls at my house are running about 3 to 1 advertising for Romney. Has anyone else noticed this? Does the Obama campaign know already that I’m a Democrat and are not wasting their resources on me, or is Romney just outspending him that much?
“He could stand up there and belch the Star Spangled Banner… “
Accompanied by Romney farting a rousing rendition of Stars and Stripes Forever.
Alfred,
I’m getting zero robocalls for Obama. ALL are for George Allen and Mitt Romney.
I got two for Romney today. One was from the RNC. The other was from the NRA-ILA grassroots.
These outfits always leave a phone number. You can call the number and supposedly get your name taken off their call list.
I have done this AT LEAST 8 times with the RNC, and the calls keep coming.
The phone number they give for the NRA-ILA is 703-267-1200. When you call that, you get a recording that says, “All of our workers are in training right now, but if you wish to reach us you can call any weekday after 3 p.m.”
I was calling at 3:16 p.m. and still got that message. So this is what I did:
1) I called the NRA’s main number at 703-267-1000 and waited for a human. I explained the problem to her, and noted that I was a Virginia concealed carry permit holder, and noted that these repeated calls were making me quite angry.
2) I said the other thing that was making me angry was the fact that the NRA-ILA was giving out a number that they seemed to have NO INTENTION of answering.
3) And then I said, “This is a bad strategy. You should realize, more than anyone, how unwise it is to make one of us permit holders angry. The number of mass killings and other murders we permit holders have committed in Virginia, as well as across the country, is well-documented. I would like you to tell me how I can stop these intrusive calls.”
4) She transferred me to an NRA-ILA line that a human answered. I explained the issue again and they said they would remove my number from their call list.
We’ll see.
Polls show “Benghazi-Gate” not resonating with the Villagers. What’s the next kerfuffle for Issa and his merry band of gypsies? Time is running out, guys!
Polls show “Benghazi-Gate” not resonating with the Villagers
Leftwing media not covering? Well, at least not until after Nov. 6. We are all so surprised. Also, Issa isn’t a senator, genius. Don’t look for that bunch to do its job either.
Oh dear, dear Art, why would we be worried about time running out. We are thrilled that time is running out on the Obama Presidency.
Dan, so far I haven’t received any robocalls for president but have received FOUR from Tim Kaine and one from George Allen. We have gotten three pretend pollsters calling for Obama. They say they are local pollsters interested in your opinion, but the first question is “Do you plan to vote for Barack Obama in this year’s presidential election?” When we say no, they stutter and stammer and say “uh” more times than Obama himself in a non-prompter debate. Then they ask if there is a chance they can say anything to change your mind. When you say no, they hang up. What the hell kind of skewed poll is that? If that’s how the bulk of the polls that show Obama leading are obtained, you guys shouldn’t feel too confident right now.
“If you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run away from.-Barack Obama 2008

No damn idea on earth where you get your lack of information sources.
There is in fact, some research to show that racial animus cost Obama votes in 2008 and might cause his loss this time. Many people are happy to mention his race among their reasons they don’t like or support him. It is in the epithets, protest posters, comments and stupid things like “Do they include the 93% that will vote for obama just because he is “black”.
http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~sstephen/papers/RacialAnimusAndVotingSethStephensDavidowitz.pd
“…relative to the attitudes of the most racially tolerant area, racial animus cost Obama between 3 to 5 percentage points of the national popular vote…
…The pro-black effect was limited by African-Americans constituting only 12.6 percent of Americans and overwhelmingly supporting any Democratic candidate.
A variety of evidence suggest that few white voters swung, in the general election, for Obama due to his race.”
“From April through September, Romney for President aired slightly more than 144,000 ads on broadcast TV. The outside groups supporting him ran nearly 250,000.”

The wealthy and powerful people supporting Romney are donating to the outside interests for the dirty work as opposed to massively funding the campaign directly, although there is that too. The Plutocracy reigns and they have chosen Romney. They thank all you right wingers for your help.
I received a call over the weekend from Mike ‘the Huckster’ Huckabee – automated of course – sounded like he was on speed – asking me to donate to Todd Akins! Guess they ran out of gullible people in MO so now trolling in Southwest VA….hmmm, receptive audience maybe?

And if you won’t read Mike Lofgren’s book, please for the sake of this nation, read this long but accurate article!
Goodbye to All That
“Mike Lofgren retired on June 17 after 28 years as a Congressional staffer. He served 16 years as a professional staff member on the Republican side of both the House and Senate Budget Committees.“

Pitiful. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57532807/charity-president-paul-ryan-did-nothing-at-soup-kitchen-photo-op/
And Chuck, if you don’t have a core to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone whose core is unacceptable. Romney has that down to a science. When you have no core you can flip-flop like Kerry on steroids and not one of those Kerry haters will dare notice, will you?
Romney donors who “deserve” all the wealth protection their money can buy are calling the shots, while you all whine at least once a week over George Soros (who donates against his own financial interest!)
Unlike the Coors family, the Koch brothers, Daniel S. Loeb, Steve Schwarzman, Peter G. “Pete” Peterson, Bob Diamond, John Paulson, and John Devanay, who are all not only Romney’s friends and donors, they are the same people who benefit wildly from their donations helping to win the pols and legislation from which they gain more wealth and protect their skewed tax structure. They’re also the SAME PEOPLE who helped wreck our economy and helped to create the people they and Romney disdain, as Romney did in that video: “I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives”.
Google the names if you do not know your rulers.
And yet you claim to love America as you actively campaign to turn it into a Plutocracy. Insane!
dan youre listed as a black woman. why would obama and kaine campaigns call you? they think youre a lock.

Dan,
You might well have brought it on yourself — by lying to the caller(s) earlier.
Phone banking serves a number of purposes. Its a relatively cheap way to contact voters. One of the more important purpose particularly early on, is voter identification.
IDing hostile folk via phone banking is used to fine tune the ‘Get Out The Vote’ effort or “ground game” for November. Striking the strong opposition supporters from your roles saving valuable time, money and man hours.
Identify undecided and colecting demographic info helps target them with a specific type mail/email/calls.
Ditto, keeping the party-line (hot button / single-issue button) in front of likely supporters. (Remember, the comments I made a few threads back about the 14 day memory and the pollster comment about the life expectancy of a fruit fly.)
Identifying your side’s likely voters early is key because it save valuable resources focuses on who to contact during the major ‘Get Out The Vote’ push in the final 48 hours, or so.
IMHO, a great strategy for reducing the calls is to tell both sides that you are a very active campaign worker for the other side and that hell would freeze over before you voted for their side.
#70 And to think that right wingers whine about Obama’s photo ops.
“The head of a charity in northeastern Ohio where Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan and his family were photographed cleaning dishes over the weekend said Monday that Ryan was not authorized to be on the premises and “did nothing” while there.
Brian J. Antag, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society in Youngstown, told the Washington Post that the Romney campaign had not asked to make the Saturday visit to the soup kitchen. He said that he runs an apolitical faith-based organization which has bylaws barring it from hosting political candidates, and that the visit jeopardized donations from private individuals.”

OMG. They better watch out! The Republicans will retaliate against this soup kitchen by refusing to patronize it any longer!
And note that Ryan is even teaching his kids that’s it’s OK to lie.
