Note from Dan: If you want to know why the economic recovery is flagging and job growth the past four years has been anemic, read what Dan Radmacher writes below. In it, he indicts congressional Republicans on a charge that amounts to economic treason. They have put their party’s interest in capturing the White House ahead of this nation’s interests. It’s infuriating and shameful, and too few people understand this.
“Republicans decided the only way they could beat Obama this year is if the economy remains in the doldrums. So they’ve refused to pass any legislation that would actually promote job creation. Instead, House Republicans have wasted time voting more than 30 times (seriously) to repeal Obamacare, even though they knew the Senate wouldn’t go along with that, and Obama would veto the bill if it did.
The American Jobs Act, which independent economists say would have created as many as 2 million additional jobs THIS YEAR, was filibustered in the Senate and killed in the House. Even a bill to make it easier for vets to find work was killed.
The rank obstructionism of do-nothing Republicans ought to be the No. 1 scandal in D.C. They decided their political fortune was more important than the 23 million Americans out of work. That’s a criminal dereliction of duty. (And, please, don’t anyone bother whining about the 30 bills House Republicans pass that they claim would increase jobs; not one of them represents a serious jobs-creation effort.)
So if you want to speed up jobs-creation and get more people off the “public dole,” vote Democratic.”
