Voter registration fraudsters still working for Virginia GOP?

Colin Small

So you thought that incident of voter-registration destruction by a Republican contractor in Harrisonburg was an isolated incident? Recall, it landed that skinhead lookalike with a dozen or so criminal charges.

Don’t be so naive. So says the Virginia politics blog, NotLarrySabato.

More likely, they suggest, it’s part of a longer-running and bigger-picture  pattern of GOP efforts to disenfranchise voters in Virginia and perhaps other states.

“A few weeks ago after the Strategic Allied Consulting scandal broke in Florida, the RNC announced it was firing the company and no longer working with.

Now we are learning, that what *actually* happened was the Strategic Allied Consulting staffers were transferred over to a company called Pinpoint.  It’s the same people- just under a different name.

That took us to this week, when Colin Small was caught destroying voter registration forms.

Now, for the first time anywhere I can confirm that these same staffers are STILL working for the Republican Party of Virginia out of *6* of their “Victory Offices” around the state.”

The post goes on to note that those offices are Chesapeake; Springfield; Bristow (Prince William County); Sterling; Virginia Beach; and Harrisonburg.

Moreover, the folks in them have shifted from “handling” voter registrations to “handling” absentee ballots!~

I wonder if my daughter Anna in Harrisonburg will get her absentee ballot? She turned in her application on campus the week before last. But who is “handling” that?

Like all honest folks, I want fair elections. All persons who qualify and follow the rules should be able to cast a ballot without worry or fear that their vote might not get lawfully counted.

This reminds me of the Acorn antics of several years ago. Acorn, if we recall correctly, did some dishonest and illegal things regarding voting.

I also believe potus, in his somewhat younger years, worked with Acorn as a consultant, advisor, or maybe in some legal capacity. It was only after he ceased “helping” them that they got busted…I think.

Hasn’t Acorn changed it’s name, and the “organization” itself is still “organizing” under a different name?

  2. Kristen | October 22, 2012 at 5:24 pm

You’re full of “beliefs”, Frank. Why don’t you work with some facts.

  3. Suzie | October 22, 2012 at 5:29 pm

1 I totally agree, Frank. All conservatives want are fair and honest elections where voters are who they say they are and can prove it. But Democrats don’t want that for some reason.

  4. Suzie | October 22, 2012 at 5:31 pm

Ah the excuses are already starting. Poodle was using them too. But they won’t stick because the election won’t be close.

Frank, I hope you mean that. Because when election day rolls around, if:

    1.Seniors (and college students) in Fla., Va., Ohio and elsewhere show up at the polls and find out they’re not registered;
    2. The same folks as above begin asking ‘Where is that absentee ballot I applied for’?
    3. There are single voting machines in college-town precincts (except Lynchburg) and the lines run long, and the machines keep breaking down;

That’s going to mean that there’s been some serious, disenfranchising action by the GOP. And if that comes to pass, I hope you’ll be on this blog bitching like hell and calling your congressman and senators, too.

(But I doubt it. I think you’ll be playing the “Hee hee!” game here instead. We’ll see).

Is Dan saying he thinks Romney will win?

  7. J.M.White | October 22, 2012 at 5:49 pm

Frank: Care to do some light reading? There are all kinds of interesting tidbits about prohibition of tests and devices to determine voting eligibility. The rules were argued, pared and set years ago. Part of following the rules is following the original rules. No one can follow the rules if they’re constantly being changed. And where does it stop? Will you cry out only when it’s your vote that they want to squash?

If anything, it’ll offset the crap ACORN pulled in the 2008 elections. What goes around comes around you commie liberal.

  10. Art Hill | October 22, 2012 at 7:10 pm

Romney gets a ten point bounce from a questionable debate victory while Obama gets nothing from a clear win? Yeah, sure, and I’ve got a bridge I want to sell you. Mighty convenient for the corporate-media to have this race tied. Old Jethrene’s right, this won’t be close, but not in the way he thinks.

  11. Sandi Saunders | October 22, 2012 at 7:15 pm

See it STILL only matters when ACORN does it. The right wing in this nation has no principles, integrity or honesty. None.

  12. Frank | October 22, 2012 at 7:21 pm

hey J.M., whatever the rules are… I think they should be followed. Thanks for sending the links.

Hey dano, thats a whole lot of jibberish you just threw at the wall. If there are official complaints, and there will be, I think they should be explored.

Hey Suzie, yep. I sure think ol’ dano is making it SOUND like obuma will lose.

and, hey dano, please tell good ol’ dave that my use of the words “hey”, “yo”, and I don’t remember what the other was…, are ok with you. He’s just having a big ol’ hissy fit about my use of those words, and he just won’t listen to me. He’s senile, ya know, and pretty much set in his ways, ya know? Thanks.

  13. Frank | October 22, 2012 at 7:23 pm

Methinks ol’ Art Hill and sandi are gonna cry us a river.

  14. Suzie | October 22, 2012 at 7:27 pm

Romney gets a ten point bounce from a questionable debate victory?

That’s right. An old inebriated dude is right and everybody else in America is wrong.

  15. Suzie | October 22, 2012 at 7:32 pm

it STILL only matters when ACORN does it.

Glad you’re finally admitting ACORN is guilty of multiple instances of voter fraud. Haven’t seen any proof of similar lawbreaking from Republicans.

#10- Art, Bruce Bartlett tweeted something about this the other day.

“Everyone should keep in mind that the media have an enormous vested interest in keeping the election close.”

    “Liberal civility?

“Son of Wisconsin State Senator Attacked Protecting Romney sign”

Lake, that was two goons from Crossroads GPS who attacked that guy, so his dad could later go on TV and hint that it was Democrats, so people like you would jump to the conclusion that was the case, so you would go on blogs like this one and blame it on liberals.

  19. Dan Casey | October 22, 2012 at 8:14 pm

    Magpie, welcome back!

  20. Henry | October 22, 2012 at 8:15 pm

“Glad you’re finally admitting ACORN is guilty of multiple instances of voter fraud.”

    SPANKED!

Dan is walking the Voter Fraud fence line. On one hand, it doesn’t exist. On the other, Republicans do it. Closer to the election, the Democrats will start banging the voter fraud drum so they will have an excuse if Obama loses.
My prediction: 1992 all over again.

  21. Dan Casey | October 22, 2012 at 8:18 pm

“My prediction: 1992 all over again.”

Well isn’t that sweet. Henry is predicting the Democrat will win the election, just like the Democrat did in 92. Thanks for the honestly, Henry.

  22. dave | October 22, 2012 at 8:36 pm

Hey Gomer. As far as I’m concerned you can keep on with the heys and yos that paint a caricature of you as an ignorant bufffoon until hell freezes over. You’re the one whose credibility is damaged by the process. So have at it! You and your little cousin Goober would be great taking thos old TV roles onto the stage. I can see the show’s title now. THE THREE STOOGES MINUS ONE.

  23. gdad | October 22, 2012 at 10:45 pm

I have asked suzie and other right-wing trolls here time and time again to explain numerous efforts by Rethugs to disenfranchise voters and why if they’re so worried about fraud they don’t so something about the REAL. Not one of the SOBs has an answer.

I notice that the RWers always post about voter fraud – another magical myth. I say we have more trouble with ELECTION fraud, voter suppression and intimidation when dealing with republicans…things like throwing out voter registration forms…or making up fraudulent voter registrations…

“Several Virginia Democrats have asked the Justice Department to investigate allegations of voter fraud surrounding a GOP firm working in the Old Dominion and other battleground states.

“Reps. Jim Moran, Bobby Scott and Jerry Connolly say recent allegations of registration fraud by Strategic Allied Consulting in Florida — combined with last week’s voter-fraud arrest of a Republican operative linked to the firm in Virginia — merit a federal probe to determine if the episodes “are connected and constitute a broader conspiracy of voter registration fraud.”
    http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/other-races/263623-dems-ask-doj-to-investigate-gop-firm-for-alleged-voter-fraud

    or

“Almost since taking office 21 months ago, conservative Republican Governor Rick Scott has pushed through tight restrictions on voter-registration groups, ramped up efforts to purge rolls of ineligible voters, made it harder for felons to regain voter rights and scaled back early voting. As a result, growing disclosures that the Arizona-based Strategic Allied Consulting—which the Republican National Committee required state parties like Florida’s to hire—may be guilty of turning in hundreds of fraudulent registrations in more than 10 counties, and is also being probed in other states, is a major embarrassment. (Strategic insists the problems are isolated and under control, but the Republicans have fired the firm.)” [and rehired under a new name]

Wow! Look at him! gdad trying to grow a pair (safely behind anonymity of course)!!

I doubt he would ever meet and say anything like that to anyone in person. Oh, he had that chance…

    Good post at #1 Frank.
