He was drunk with a skunk, allegedly
Meet Efrain Moreno Alvarez, soon to be featured on The Smoking Gun.
When the cops in Waynesboro busted him for DUI Sunday afternoon, they detected not only a “strong odor of alcohol,” but the overpowering stink of skunk.
From the News Leader:
Police said a witness saw Alvarez strike a guardrail Sunday with his 1990 Chevrolet Lumina on Interstate 64 around 2:30 p.m. After the collision, the witness called authorities and followed Alvarez as he drove into the city limits of Waynesboro. A police officer intercepted Alvarez in the parking lot of Plaza Azteca on Windigrove Drive.
Things got a bit stinky after the stop.
When the officer approached Alvarez, he detected a strong odor of alcohol along with a “strong odor of skunk,” according to Sgt. Brian Edwards, a spokesman for the Waynesboro Police Department. The officer had Alvarez perform a series of field sobriety tests and then placed him under arrest. When the officer inquired about the plastic bag attached to the back of the van, Alvarez explained that it contained a dead skunk.
Monday morning breakfast, perhaps? Or an anticipated fat bounty at the perfume factory? Perhaps he was thinking of skinning it and fashioning a hat as as a Christmas gift?
I dunno. But let the puns begin!
(RWers, this 100 percent unpolitical post is your opportunity to demonstrate you have a sense of humor. Don’t let that slip by!)

No politics? This post stinks!
Something stinks about this situation!!
It’s waynesboro. I am surprised anyone noticed the skunk.
“I’d like that to go, please.”
Is this the car in question?

“I had to kill him, Ossifer. He said his name was Pepe and he wouldn’t leave my cat alone.”
Tiny historical tidbit..brought to mind by Dobbs..
Didja know that Jalopy and Jalapenos share origin?
There is a place called Jalapa Mexico..(Xalapa).
Its known that this is where Jalapenos originated..
and almost a certainty that this is where Jalopies
as in run down cars originated. In the 20-s these cars
were sent to Mexico as scrap. No doubt the “Jalapeno” dudes
restored them and they made their way back across the border..
as in Steinbeck-s stories.
Hot cars…hotter peppers.
Is this the dude who had that country music classic hit ” Dead Skunk In The Middle of The Road “?
Here’s one version of that classic country hit. This guy says it was number one on the charts in Arkansas for 6 straight weeks!

yes..that was Loudon Wainwright the 3rd…
a DJ in Rocky Mount used to call this “anthem”
the Route 40 song back in the early 70-s…
Think flat and stinky road lumps Woolwine to Gretna.
Lets all make fun of people!!! Childish.
The story as I heard it had to do with theft.
A High School team in the Shenendoah Valley
was hosting a team from Poca West Va.
Their name is the Poca Dots.
The locals in the valley had planned on stealing
their mascot..they were in bags…large Poca dots they
wore on their hands. The Poca team found out about the plan
and stuffed a live skunk that had been sedated into the bag that usually held the dots.
The students found a rather intoxicated Hispanic guy to do the task.
He thought he was stealing a bag full of hand puppets..
Turned out the skunk was just coming to when he shoved his hand into the bag. He was trying to find the team bus when he was pulled over….and now the rest of the story…
If you can’t make fun of a drunk guy with a dead skunk in a bag ties to the back of his vehicle, who can you make fun of, mattyr?
I think it’s hilarious that Mattyr doesn’t find that hilarious.
Mattyr may be sensitive to the story..
I t could remind him of an outcome of an early
dating/social interlude.

But unlike the skunk, I bet he never made it to the “bagging it” part, hence the bitterness.

Twas an evening whose early promise of a glorious finish , alas remained sadly unfulfilled and unconsummated.

Well said. I can hear Morgan Freeman reading that. LOL. Where’s Dave Hicks to narrate when we need him. He has a nice voice and would make a good narrator.
