What, a common 9mm handgun? Kennedy was shot with a cheap hunting rifle. It may sensationalize the story to bring Gabby Giffords into it, but isn’t really relevant. I don’t think anyone will assassinate him. If they were going to, they would have tried already. He’s much better protected than Giffords was and is the most heavily protected president ever. I don’t think the derringer, 32 revolver, or bolt-action rifle as have been used in assassinations past would be effective against his security. I think the security is ready for some much more sophisticated weaponry than you’re giving them credit. Let’s hope we never find out.

This variety of hate is unfortunately all too strong among a virulent and growing group of fanatics in this country.
Mu biggest cocern for Obama’s second term is that some deranged nut, fueled by comments like those from Dondero and the Suzies and Colorado Maxes of the world will attempt to assassinate him . The easy availabilty

It really bugs me when someone like Eric Dondero claims to speak (or is represented by others as speaking) for all libertarians.

Does he (or you) not know of the diversity among libertarians?

IMHO, he would also denounce the left-leaning-libertarianism — check out the writings of the Steiner–Vallentyne school, the Henry George school (or Georgists), the Carson-Long school, the Mutualism school, the Ricardian-Hodgskin school, etc, etc, etc.

BTW, did you know that there is a Georgists caucus within the (capital “L”) Libertarian Party?

Someone might (and I say might) be able to speak for the (capital “L”) Libertarian Party — but not for all libertarians. You’d have better luck herding cats.

The Republicans miscalculated badly. Part of it was that they believed their own hype and part was that they thought they could buy the election if they raised enough money. From what I’ve been reading and hearing, they are re-thinking their strategy. No cover-up there.
