Conservative Christian: God’s feeling will be hurt if we don’t use oil and coal

But wait . . . won’t God’s feelings be hurt if we don’t use wind and solar, too?

Good Lord and a load of coal.

I don’t know about that, Dan, but I’m wondering if Roanoke City is trying to destroy Christmas for all local folks. According to the RT listing of holiday events, Roanoke is lighting its “Roanoke City Tree.” Now they ARE having Dickens of a Christmas and the Roanoke Christmas Parade, but I think it’s pretty obvious with the tree thing that they intend to try to make everybody forget about Christmas.

No, there is no limit to silliness in this realm.

He must have received a doctorate from Liberty U. I have heard that god farts rainbows everytime someone has gay sex too!

I think what he meant was gods feelings would be hurt if we don’t murderer and exploit another culture for oil.

    Blashpemy- the only victimless crime.

And wind and solar are not abundant resources given to us? Someone has a load of money invested in coal and oil and it ain’t God…

  7. J | December 1, 2012 at 7:48 am

    Gdad,

As a non-Christian, I appreciate that the city is including everyone in the holiday tradition of a tree. There are so many faiths with different celebrations at this time of year. If you want to get right down to it, maybe it should be called a solstice tree? (No, I don’t really expect the city to call it that.) But it did, after all, come from a pagan tradition long before Christianity adopted it. There are plenty of us local folks of other faiths around. Some of us – gasp – even put up a tree as a pagan or secular tradition. We have no intention of “destroying” Christmas for Christians. I find a government calling it a holiday tree inclusive as apposed to the typical assumption that everyone celebrates Christmas.

Aren’t Dickens and the parade privately sponsored events? If so, they have every right to call them Christmas events. But I applaud the city for not endorsing a particular faith and including everyone while still acknowledging that this time of year is important to many people.

Wait a minute, doesn’t it take several million years for coal and oil to form? The earth hasn’t been around that long? Oh yeah, Rev. Robertson decreed recently that it is okay to believe proved science. Whew!

Justin True, you are a classless little libbie so dont talk about things you know nothing about dear…it doesnt look good for you.

Good Grief! All of the environmental damage that has been done due to improper methods of getting and shipping the oil and coal must be damaging many folks brains.

It’s not the fact that we use either of the products, it’s how little care is being taken with the use of the 2. Major deaths in both fields and the environmental damage due to careless handling is certainly to blame.

God’s feeling aren’t going to be hurt one way or the other if we choose to use either product. But, His feelings should certainly be hurt because so many idiots in these 2 production fields continue to care so little about His other creations and our environment and only care about the almighty bucks they can gain, even at the risk to all else.

Well..all this whining is real special, but I`ll have to depart…I need to oil my guns today.

  12. Jeff Doto | December 1, 2012 at 9:30 am

A Volvo that runs on wind and solar ?…Thats some pretty sweet engineering, Dan….wish I could have watched you build that..would you be willing to send me the plans ? Until then, I guess I`ll have to keep my truck filled with those dastardly fossil fuels.Bike riders….don`t forget to OIL them thar sprocket chains…Imagine the OIL it takes to fabricate `ONE` bicycle in a factory…Imagine the OIL it takes to produce the RT newspaper ….Or does the RT rely on wind and solar to `run the presses` ? Reality…not for the faint of heart.

  13. Jeff Doto | December 1, 2012 at 10:20 am

VOLVO to lay off 300..Thats THREE HUNDRED PEOPLE…at the first of the year….That obama can really create those jobs…eh ?

  14. Kristen | December 1, 2012 at 10:40 am

“I need to oil my guns today.”

Is that what you’re calling it.

  17. Kristen | December 1, 2012 at 3:41 pm

Yes Sandy…he could be named “Jeff Idiot”.

  18. Justin True | December 1, 2012 at 3:47 pm

    Preach the word, Sister Sandi!

  19. Justin True | December 1, 2012 at 4:11 pm

    Jeff Doto,

“I need to oil my guns today”.

Wow, maybe you should quit dipping snuff and do a push-up or three… You people are all caught up on your guns and think that is all that our constitution is about for some odd reason. I was a man who served his country and shot many guns, but I don’t feel the need to flaunt my gun prowess about like it is something to be proud of. I would like to build a community that does not need guns. That looks at guns and deems them silly and useless. I know it is a “pipe dream”, but come on! You have the right to posses guns, but if I can defend myself and my family with my stature, my hands, my wit, I will. I don’t feel the need to pull a gun every time I feel threatened. We also need oil to get our children to college. We need oil to print books, to have conversations, for our peace efforts, to teach our children tolerance. That is more important than teaching our children to put holes in others… right?

Shouldn’t education stamp out the need for guns? Am I dreamer? Or am I the only one?

    LMAO. Good one!

#7 J, the folks who know me on this blog are aware I was being facetious. I was joking.

  22. joe | December 1, 2012 at 9:19 pm

What it means in layman’s terms..
Putting WD40 on the Red Ryder( bb gun).
(suggestive allusion only in the brain grin of the reader)

    Comment by Justin True — December 1, 2012 @ 4:11 pm

IMHO, you’re delusional thinking education would obviate the need for any
tool like a wrench, shovel or gun.

IMHO, if it’s defending family. . .whatever works is best. Wind and solar power sources are too inefficient and capital intensive compared to
oil, gas and coal. Whatever works best in this case.

“I have heard that god farts rainbows everytime someone has gay sex too!”

    LMAO!

“You people are all caught up on your guns.”

    Doto is his only “people”.

“I would like to build a community that does not need guns.”

    I agree.

    “I know it is a “pipe dream”…”

    Thank you for acknowledging such.

“You have the right to posses guns, but if I can defend myself and my family with my stature, my hands, my wit, I will.”

Me too. In general, guns are the last resort.

“I don’t feel the need to pull a gun every time I feel threatened.”

Me neither. But not all threats are of the same level.

“We also need oil to get our children to college. We need oil to print books, to have conversations, for our peace efforts, to teach our children tolerance. That is more important than teaching our children to put holes in others… right?”

Yes, but only until someone is about to put holes in them.

“Shouldn’t education stamp out the need for guns?”

Education is great, but it will never make hatred extinct.

    “Am I dreamer?”

Yes and there is nothing wrong with that.

  25. Sandi Saunders | December 2, 2012 at 8:15 pm

Well said Justin #19. There is nothing that screams loser, even to gun rights advocates, more than statements like Jeff Doto makes and then mentions his need to “I need to oil my guns today” as if it is a long involved process and indicates someone who seems to be delusional, certainly dishonest and irrational has an arsenal, great.

THAT is indeed the problem those of us who support gun control have with our gun laws. Too many idiots, losers and criminals have guns and we ALL know it.

  26. John Wilburn | December 3, 2012 at 3:59 am

    Sandi Saunders:

“THAT is indeed the problem those of us who support gun control have with our gun laws. Too many idiots, losers and criminals have guns and we ALL know it.”

I agree in part about statements like Jeff Doto’s and cringe when I hear people like him make statements like that because it works against what the others of us are doing to protect and restore our rights. It’s not the scores of responsible gun owners, many of which you don’t even know carry, who you hear. No, it’s Doto making counter-productive statements like that.

Still, I will take my chances with a few gun owners who say dumb things over a government with broad discretion to have their hand in everyone’s gun cabinet and holster.
