Kudos, Dan, kudos. I was actually listening to this song (album version) on my way in to work this morning.
Love Tom Waits. Unique sound to be sure, but man is he ever a musical genius.
One of America’s best songwriter. His San Diego seranade is one of the best. Good pick Dan!
When my daughter was a young teen, I had Tom Waits album Rain Dogs, which having newly purchased, I played over and over. I loved it, but she begged me to never play it when she had friends over.
My father used to sing this to me when I was little…thanks for the tears.
Many years ago, in Boulder, CO, I spent some time with a fantastic, beautiful girl named Jeri from Kearny, Nebraska. She is the one who introduced me to the music of Tom Waits. One of a few reasons I will always fondly remember her.
