Did Virginia voter-suppression efforts flip a Romney voter to Obama?

I want to share my son’s recent experience with his voter registration in Virginia Beach.
He moved this summer from Blacksburg to Virginia Beach. In September he went to the local office that handles voter registration and filled out the form and turned it in. He was told he would get a voter registration card in the mail shortly.
As of this morning he hadn’t received it so he called the office to check on his polling place. When he called he was told that he wasn’t registered in Virginia Beach. He then asked if the young lady could tell him where he was registered to vote.
She apparently checked and said he was registered in a precinct in Blacksburg. Somehow his registration that he turned directly into the office in September had been lost.
To shorten the story, he went to his boss and explained the situation. His boss is allowing him to leave work this afternoon early. He will drive to Blacksburg tonight, spend the night with some friends, be at the polling place first thing in the morning, vote and then return to work tomorrow afternoon.
He hasn’t said, but I think he was leaning toward voting for Romney. During his conversation with me this morning he used some choice words and said something about Republican voter suppression efforts. My guess is that Obama has just gotten another vote and Tim Kaine as well.
