What hardship requirement for absentee voting?….None that I’m aware of….I’ve have voted here in the past absentee…no problems or isssue.

I agree 100 percent,
Even here in ultra-conservative Tx
we have early voting..Its a blessing.
I of course waited till the last day
of early voting (Fri before) and had a
little bit of a line..but it was half hour tops.
I kicked myself for not going earlier in the week.
We even voted on the prev Sat -Sun.
Im a huge proponent of having early voting available.

I agree with Sandi – Virginia needs to implement early voting procedures. I would suggest early walk-in voting at the registrar for the month preceding the election, or as Sandi said, eliminate the hardship requirement for Absentee voting.

hey davie, thanks. and I mean that. it appears to me that localities had some descretion concerning the number of necessary staff, machines, etc., which was why I asked the question.

People in Prince William County waited in lines for over 4 hours. That is just not cool. If they do not want to pop for more machines, then do a week of early walk-in voting at the Registrar’s office or Absentee on request instead of for cause. This is just not acceptable!

The kaws, rules and regulations for voting procedures, operation of local registrars, training standards etc. are the responsibility of the states.
In Va. that is controlled by the state board of elections. Here is the link where you can find all that information. A simple google search would have answered your question .

Correction….Sorry for confusion….I did not work this election day for the reasons stated…It was physcially hard enough standing in line an hour…Plus when I wrote the above, you know….I had totally forgotten Roanoke had consolidated its polling places….Yet, at Jackson Park we only had three machines, only up one from the old system.

Does anyone know who sets the requirements regarding the poll staff’s training, duties, and other working requirements for conducting elections?

Are federal, state, and local poll staff requirements the same?
