Bulldog reporter goes after Fla. governor on GOP voting tricks

Tony Pipitone, bulldog TV reporter from Orlando | Shot by Dan Oct. 6 in College Park, Md.

You see the guy with the red cap in the photo? That’s my longtime pal Tony Pipitone. He’s a TV reporter in Florida who’s justifiably feared by that state’s politicians.

He’s also one of the old University of Maryland chums I get together with each fall for a Terps football game. (The infamous economist Skidar is sitting next to him in the blue hoodie).

Two days after the election, mealy-mouthed Gov. Rick Scott visited Orlando, and Tony was waiting for him. Watch how he absolutely hammers the skinheaded Scott over all the shenanigans the GOP pulled — unsuccessfully — to suppress the Democratic vote in Florida for the presidential election. (You have to scroll down to the slideshow at the end and wait through the commercial but it’s worth it, I promise).

Tony gives him the old Mike Wallace treatment, which is the highest compliment anyone can pay in television journalism, IMHO.

It’s hilariously great stuff, and even sweeter tasting because Tony’s an old friend of mine.

Way to go, Tony!

Reporters who can get in there and hold feet to the fire are our last best hope. Keep up the good work Tony P. A grateful nation thanks you!

I am curious to know how others view this interview, as compared to the Candy Crowley interview from earlier this week? I think Mr. Pipitone was appropriate and repectful in his persistence, and I felt the same about Candy Crowley.

Was Tony the” Bulldog” equally interested in getting to the bottom of how those six Broward County precincts could have gone 99% for 0bama 5392 to 54?

    Nosaj,

Feel free to call him Tony. He’s a GREAT guy (and a great journalist, too).

Suze, you’re right about one thing: he is a bulldog. Why should he care about 6 precincts in one state? You don’t care about the ones in Texas and Utah that Romney one by that much (nor should you).

Dan is right. There were three precincts in Utah in which Romney got 100% of the vote. In Millard County’s Flowell precinct, Romney won 14-0. In its Garrison precinct, he won 17-0. In Sanpete County’s Mount Pleasant 3 Unincorporated precinct, Romney won 14-0.

So that’s a combined 45-0. About the same as 0bama’s 19620-0 whitewash in 59 Philadelphia counties.

Tony it is, but truthfully, I just like the sound of Pipitone! Tony reports just like his name sounds – straightforward, without BS.

I just have to note: For people supposedly (well, self reportedly) more wealthy, educated, smarter and just plain better than us awful liberals, you all sure sound petty, uneducated, more ignorant and just plain angry.
