well, gdad, since Duane's note, used by ol' dano to lead off this thread, is on SE, that's why.

And, I'd be happy for the RTs to expand their focus of neglected areas to include even more regions which Roanoke City neglects, and I'm happy for you to be the one whose list gets used.

Sheesh, gdad...stupidity? Nah. I'm with you.

Hey, I know! The RTs should investigate why the Roanoke City Council, led by lib-democrats for decades and decades, have neglected, in addition to SE(and folks, the following areas come right out of ol' gdad's little finger-tips, such as they are), "Northwest, Northeast, sections of southwest, and yes, even parts of South."

Hey, gdad, according to you, "MOST parts of Roanoke City, ah, hmmm, pretty much suck", and the RTS just continues to carry the water for the lib-democrat run City Council.

Thank you for your valuble input.

#61 And why, pray tell, Frank, would they do that and not ask about Northwest, Northeast, sections of Southwest, and, yes, even parts of South?

Wow, it's just so easy to point out the stupidity in most of Frank's comments.

Hay dan,

I think the newspaper could give the neighborhood some more attention.

Hey, I know! Maybe the newspaper could start asking the lib-democrat council members individually and before and after Council meetings just what they ARE doing for the SE neighborhood.

You've (the RTs) got photographers. You've got reporters. You've got biased as hell opinion writers. Surely, pressure could be applied...you know, "the squeeky wheel gets attention, ya know?

Or, you can just follow along on the vein of Sandi, and say, "well, that's just the way it is....", which is what the approach seems to be anyhow.

Or, your Editors can get tough when elections come around. Oops, City Council is all lib-democrats...so THAT would make things interesting, eh? You know, there's that ol' "birds of a feather thingy" hangin' out there, isn't there!

And we all owe a debt of gratitude to people like Dan that will take a community issue that started with two pictures.....And give us the venue to discuss back and forth our experiences, pro and con. As I told a Roanoke Socialite who stopped by today and commented on what a nice area it was....I told her....Well....I now realize I live in the "South Roanoke" of Southeast...I say this to encourage anyone having problems on their block or Street, pester the city to death...if that doesn work, call me and I'll do it for you...

Kristen,
I do not have a clue this so called person Jay is!!!....Jay certainly does not have to be his real name.....The only Jay I can recall that has been in my house was Jay Warren doing an interview....I think?....And this person could just say they have been in my house trying to seem crediable....He obviusly thinks I spend all my time calling code....We have a Southeast Action Forum who has a couple of members and neighborhood watch members that shame me with their number of calls....As a result, many blame me because somone called code on them....I mean, I know someone who turned in 30 code violation in one week...I can't even take credit for one a month.....Gosh, guess I'm falling down on the job.

Carrie, welcome and we would love to have you stay. You, Duane, and the rest of us, have to do what we have to do and no, putting up with crappy neighbors is not right, but it sure happens.

I do not think the City employs selective enforcement in the same way Hey Frank is saying. Nor is it political IMO. South Roanoke is where money is, money does not live like trash, nor does it live like poor or working class people in all honesty. That is simply a reality that Code Enforcement has nothing to do with. The cost of living in SE and NW is going to attract the delinquent, rebellious and "freedom loving" heathen types. It just is.

You are right to call animal control, code enforcement, the Mayor, City Council members, the Planning Commission, the Zoning Board and whomever else you can think of to call, I would. But having been out on a limb that Bedford County sawed off, I would not put much faith in them being able to make people behave with decency and civility. Or to protect you when they turn on you for calling the "cops" on them.

I do not envy you all but I do not think the City can fix all that is wrong by any means.

I sure wish you all luck.

Not only that, but Frank claims it's all the big bad newspaper's fault. Frank spends a lot of his time fuming at the paper. Which is funny to me, but quite sad in terms of his own life.

Hey Frank, a hint: you shouldn't get too worked up over things you can't change. Just sayin'
