Why post this Dan? Make you happy? And You call 2nd amendment people sick…

  2. Sandi Saunders | January 10, 2013 at 10:16 am

Wow, another gun nut that could not “protect” even himself. This is a sick, sick attitude: “I went to the movies with my pistol in my pocket the whole time I was praying that somebody would try to pull a Batman!”

  3. Kristen | January 10, 2013 at 10:21 am

    But…but…he owned guns.

Go looking for trouble and it will find you.

  4. gdad | January 10, 2013 at 10:22 am

Let’s see, he claims that Obama wants to ban everything, and then later he points out a gun that he says they’ll “never ban.” I won’t even go into some of the other crap he spouts. But at least his language is appropriate for suzie.

Sincere condolences to his family and I hope thy catch and punish the person who killed him, but I’m also betting that it will turn out that his love for guns and/or the people that led him to associate with will be connected to his death.

    Hahaha…he’s dead. That’s funny.

Newtown school chief says we need…..more guns, more guns, more guns in school.

  8. Justin True | January 10, 2013 at 10:56 am

Henry, I don’t think that is funny at all… He was someone’s husband, brother, son, father. How is this story funny? In what way? Because he was shot? So if you choke on an O’Henry chocolate bar, are we to laugh? I wouldn’t… hope you were an organ donor though.

  9. gdad | January 10, 2013 at 10:57 am

Why would you think it’s funny, Henry?

  10. Ron May | January 10, 2013 at 11:10 am

Perhaps you are the only one who believes the man’s death is funny Henry.

  11. Jack | January 10, 2013 at 11:13 am

    Ron May,

They find it funny not because it is a “man’s death,” but because it is a gun owner’s death.

If one of the teachers at Sandy Hook were a gun owner, it would be funny that she died, too, I’m sure.

  12. Alan Watt | January 10, 2013 at 11:17 am

I guess that’s the plan, just wipe out gun owners who won’t give them up.

  13. Dan Casey | January 10, 2013 at 11:57 am

Henry thinks this is funny? Oh Lord . . . He needs more help than I thought.

  14. gdad | January 10, 2013 at 12:08 pm

Who is “they,” Jack. So far the only person who seems to think it’s funny is Henry.

Do you know for sure that no Sandy Hook teacher owned a gun? Do you have some proof of that?

BTW, this guy wasn’t just a gun “owner,” he was a gun worshipper. It appears that guns were either the most or just about the most important thing in his life.

  15. Ron May | January 10, 2013 at 12:25 pm

    Jack,

I have never been able to find anything funny about the death of anyone, no matter the circumstances of that death.

  16. Debbie | January 10, 2013 at 12:26 pm

Am I the only one who thinks Henry’s comment reeks of sarcasm?

  17. Sandi Saunders | January 10, 2013 at 12:33 pm

I think Henry was trying to portray our comments as being the ones “laughing” at this poor delusional person’s death. He and Jack need that to be the case because they do not want to talk about the fact that like the “armed soccer Mom”, having, owning, carrying, loving and being proficient with a gun will still not protect you if someone wants you dead.

  18. Jack | January 10, 2013 at 12:51 pm

I’ve never claimed that carrying a gun was a guarantee of anything at all. I don’t know that anyone else here has, either. If they have, I would disagree with their statement.

  19. Huntersdad | January 10, 2013 at 1:22 pm

Debbie, no, no you are not. I think maybe Henry might imagine Dan sniggling at the irony. Not that he would of course.

  20. pistol pete | January 10, 2013 at 1:37 pm

Good Grief..Henry’s SARCASM here is that only Dan Casey would post this for the fact of its “Irony”. So instead of having feelings of sympathy for his family, Mr. Heartless Casey wants to get comments from Sandi (comment #2), Kristen (#3), and others (#5) (which he did) that basically make fun of the fact that a gun enthusiast was killed by a gun.

    Tasteless journalism at its best.

Meanwhile, the 2nd amendment serves its purpose:

  21. gdad | January 10, 2013 at 1:38 pm

Sandi and Debbie, speaking for myself, I was well aware what Henry was doing (I suspect our other posters were also aware but can’t speak for them). I was returning sarcasm with sarcasm, particularly since absolutely nobody on this blog has suggested that there was anything funny about this guy’s murder. Henry was trying to suggest WE thought it funny, so I simply turned his BS back on him.

  22. Kristen | January 10, 2013 at 2:26 pm

PP, no one’s “making fun” of the guy. Pointing out the obvious isn’t “making fun”.

Although I do realize it’s only appropriate here to comment on the triumphs of gun ownership, like shooting a couple of kids dead because you don’t like where they parked. Another crime averted by an alert gun owner.

  23. Jack | January 10, 2013 at 2:38 pm

    Comment by Kristen — January 10, 2013 @ 2:26 pm

Unlike some states, in Virginia you are not permitted to shoot another to prevent or stop a crime in progress. On top of that, parking a car where someone else doesn’t like is not a crime.

The sarcasm is understandable, though, coming from a person who despises freedom.

This is national news, and it’s interesting and noteworthy considering that guns/gun violence/gun control are topics that frequently are debated here on this blog. I consider this death tragic, not ironic, and nothing I wrote in the very brief words I used would suggest the latter.

I reject your assertion that I have no feelings of sympathy for this man’s family? How dare you say that?

And I suspect you’re just another person who believes it would be better for all if the media buried any news whatsoever about gun violence and gun deaths.

    That is not the case.

  25. Jack | January 10, 2013 at 2:54 pm

But the media does bury the stories related to guns when it doesn’t suit the agenda. Dan, where is the story on your blog about the mall shooter in Oregon last month?

  26. Kristen | January 10, 2013 at 3:13 pm

“Freedom” to what, Jack? Shoot anyone who annoys you?

  27. Sandi Saunders | January 10, 2013 at 3:27 pm

No one here has ever given the impression that they carried a gun for protection, that a “good guy with a gun” could have stopped the Aurora shooter sooner, that “a good guy with a gun” could have stopped the Newtown shooter sooner or that it is reasonable for people to carry a gun for protection. No one here has ever even wished that I am never in a situation to “need” a gun either.

Henry, irony is often a damnably sad thing. Nothing about this fellow was funny. Not his life, not his death. You and Jack see it that way for obvious reasons.

  28. Sandi Saunders | January 10, 2013 at 3:33 pm

Anyone who does not think it is terribly ironic that this fellow, or the armed soccer Mom were shot with guns is truly not paying attention to the arguments that gun advocates make or the meaning of irony. These stories would be ironic and newsworthy on any day of the week at any time of the year.

This kind of irony: “incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result (2): an event or result marked by such incongruity” has nothing to do with humor.

Maybe some folks need to learn that words have more than one meaning.

    Comment by Dan Casey — January 10, 2013 @ 2:48 pm

IMO, it would be proper for the news media to give full and adequate coverage to stories like Fast and Furious which resulted in over 300 hundred deaths from guns allowed to walk accross the border by this administration which covers up this immoral and illegal action by executive privilege and which now uses the Sandy Hook tragedy as a vehicle to drive their agenda of gun control.

Why don’t you do your own Fast and Furious story Dan? Do you only support
    those stories which drive the liberal agenda? Just like Obamacare was never about Healthcare this gun control frenzy is not about gun control;
it is a liberal power play.

  31. Warren | January 10, 2013 at 4:15 pm

I don’t get why, if his gun channel is sponsored by FPS Industries of Carnesville, Ga., is it called FPS RUSSIA? What’s the deal with the Russia part, gun video enthusiasts?

I agree that gun apologists have a need to pretend that gun death stories don’t vastly outnumber other gun stories, because that’s the only way to keep gun deaths abstract enough to maintain their skewed sense of the statistics.

Thank god the president hasn’t confiscated all of our gorillas.

“After seeing yet another deranged gorilla just burst into a public place and start killing people, I decided I need to make sure something like that never happens to me,” said 34-year-old Atlanta resident Nick Keller, shortly after purchasing a 350-pound mountain gorilla from his local gorilla store. “It just gives me peace of mind knowing that if I’m ever in that situation, I won’t have to just watch helplessly as my torso is ripped in half and my face is chewed off. I’ll be able to use my gorilla to defend myself.”

“NRA membership has increased by over 100,000. and, the beat goes on…”
    –Comment by Frank.

A 100,000 increase, if true, is a drop in the bucket of a nation with 317 million people.

The fact is, 98.8 percent of the populace has chosen to not affiliate itself with the NRA. And that beat goes on, too.

  38. Kristen | January 10, 2013 at 7:03 pm

    Klan membership is up too.

Mikeo, gdad is aware that the Onion is satire. Although it doesnt seem more unlikely than the stuff in here from The Blaze or Breitbart.

  39. Frank | January 10, 2013 at 7:07 pm

    hey dano,

well, no matter how you try and spin it, dano, (and, boy are you tryin’…!)last time i checked, the 100,000 INCREASE, is, well, still an …INCREASE. …duh.

and, i beleieve that it’s a shame that anyone loses their life to gun violence.

thus far, you libs have yet to pin an IRA membership on any of the looney-tunes who do the despicable deeds. the folks who do such things are nuts, thugs, and otherwise stupid, anti-social cretins. not NRA memebers. and, definitely NOT law-abiding citizens. instead, they are emotionally driven folks with no respect for the law. hmmm.

how ’bout this, dano: ….guns don’t kill….abortions do.

  40. Maloof | January 10, 2013 at 7:29 pm

@37 Other pro gun groups memberships are growing rapidly as well. Don’t forget to bash them. If you don’t your Obama fan club card will be revoked.

Freedom to exercise Constitutional Rights… you know, freedom of speech, press, keep and bear arms.

I know you like to pick and choose, though. You don’t see the Bill of Rights as a package deal.

  42. Jack | January 10, 2013 at 7:52 pm

Sandi, you realize that police carry guns, right? Don’t they carry them for their protection?

    Comment by Henry — January 10, 2013 @ 3:59 pm

They do. They have no duty to protect anyone but themselves. See Warren v. District of Columbia and DeShaney v. Winnebago County Department of Social Services (both have good Wikipedia pages)

  43. Jack | January 10, 2013 at 7:54 pm

    Comment by Leon — January 10, 2013 @ 4:07 pm

Actually, ObamaCare provides additional protection for Gun Owners by making gun registration illegal.

It was probably one one of the hundreds of pages you folks didn’t read.

The main guy in the videos used a Russian accent. He was actually pretty funny. I loved watching the videos, but it was for him as opposed to the guns.

Uh, mike o, the Onion is satire. I wasn’t posting it as fact. Boy are you dense.

  48. Frank | January 11, 2013 at 9:01 am

    hey Dan,

“since 98.5% of the populace has chosen to not affiliate with the NRA”, seems to me that all you need do is round up your posse and go repeal the 2nd Amendment.

  49. Sandi Saunders | January 11, 2013 at 9:03 am

Cracks me up to see you always quoting the case law that backs your play. Of course we all know the courts just get it wrong when they don’t.

I am not sure what part of the argument says that people must either be armed with semi-automatic military styled assault weapons or none, but self-defense is a lot like life. You plan, practice and prepare and Murphy still shows up. If someone wants you dead, you will likely end up dead.

I believe every police department has some wall or memorial to those officers who even though armed, could not protect themselves. In the end, we are all on our own. Any way you slice it, more guns for you means more guns for the bad guys. Less control on us means less control on them. Free ranging rights for you means more carnage for society. It just does.
