What an app! on the Wednesday OPEN thread

Shot & altered by Dan using Pixlr Express

So one of the aps I downloaded recently for my Android phone is one called Pixlr Express. It’s free, it has most of the basic functions, plus an astounding number of overlays and frames that allow you to do all kinds of crazy and artistic things with photos. On the left is an example — it’s way overdone but you can see what I’m talking about.

Has anyone here ever eaten at Chuck’s Seafood Grill? I haven’t — yet, though I’m interesting in your opinion.

“Has anyone here ever eaten at Chuck’s Seafood Grill?”

    Suzie? (snicker, snicker)

    But seriously, I’m also curious.

    Where is this place?

  3. Mark | January 2, 2013 at 10:09 am

BTW, it’s “app”. I thought maybe you were celebrating the Associated Press or something…

Good to know that Virginia’s Republican representatives voted to allow taxes on you and me go up. No excuses, no rhetoric, no extenuating circumstances. Goodlatte, Griffith and Hurt each voted for the super-rich. Now how long are voter’s memories?

    Kristen,

It’s on Patterson Ave @ 13th Street SW, in the Mountain View neighborhood (one block from Salem Ave @ 13th).

Someone needs to explain to Peter King that his constituents should practice personal responsiblity and fix their own houses.

I just spit beer on my monitor. The profundity of that is… well, profound (I’ve been drinking. Cut me some slack).

He does. Doesn’t he? They all do. Perhaps a mandatory double feature of “Brian’s Song” and “Marley & Me” during a midnight session of Congress would do the trick. They could all bawl like babies and act like it’s smoky in there and they have lint in their eye and all that nonsense, but they know the truth… oh, they know…

When it’s over and done, they can all bro-hug and fist bump and crack jokes about plot holes and such, but they know what really happened. They know that on that day, their world is a little broader, a little deeper. They’ve grown.

Then we’d just have to convince them to DO THEIR DAMNED JOBS!

ahem… excuse me. I’m not manic, really.

Well….It’s a about time they started using words the average guy on the street understands…..Hell, isn’t a person in S.E. that won’t appreciate that congressioanl message….Laughing my F—- Ass off…

“Harry Reid approaching just steps from the Oval Office. According to “multiple sources,” Boehner pointed his finger at Reid and without any other fanfare said, “Go f*** yourself.” When Reid asked him what he was talking about, Boehner simply repeated his curse and moved on. ”

John Boehner Told Harry Reid ‘Go F— Yourself’ Outside the Oval Office

The fiscal austerity crisis has been temporarily averted, but given the apparent animosity between the current leaders of Congress its a miracle that any deal was made at all.

Who’s betting that Cantor will stab Boehner in the back and make a run for Speaker?

  11. Sandi Saunders | January 3, 2013 at 8:15 am

He might try, but Cantor does not have the votes. He is only loved by his fellow bat brains, not the whole Republican House.

  12. Justin True | January 3, 2013 at 9:11 am

They all turned on Romney real quick… I don’t see why not.

Who’s betting that Cantor will stab Boehner in the back and make a run for Speaker?–Comment by Dan Casey

I hope so. This would bring about a total Republican implosion. As inept as Boehner seems to be, he has managed to keep his party mostly ‘between the ditches’. Cantor would put them in the ditch. And, since he would blame everyone but himself, they would stay in the ditch.

The Dems would reap the benefits in the midterm elections.

“He is only loved by his fellow bat brains”

    yeah, so is obama

  15. Cold n P | January 3, 2013 at 10:13 am

Cantor make a run for Boehners job? I called it last year. Driving in to work this morning I listened to Amy Brenner of the Tea Party Express saying “There will be consequences” for the GOTP members who voted for the Fiscal Cliff legislation. I’d say it’s very likely that Boehner will lose his job.

    More cannibalism by the GOTP.

  16. Phil Chitwood | January 3, 2013 at 11:24 am

Chuck’s Seafood……Best fried seafood in the city. Get it to go. If you get fish, make sure you order “no bones.”

  17. Kristen | January 3, 2013 at 11:48 am

    Has anyone eaten at Eatwell?

  18. Newman | January 3, 2013 at 12:10 pm

    Cold n P.

Does the Tea Party express even have enough political clout now to remove Boehner as speaker?

  19. Debbie | January 3, 2013 at 12:21 pm

    I’ve never heard of Eatwell.

  20. gdad | January 3, 2013 at 12:35 pm

Phil, does Chuck’s do anything other than fried?

  21. Debbie | January 3, 2013 at 6:11 pm

    Poor Cantor. :-)

Boehner survived the defections of a handful of Republicans from the most conservative wing of his party, winning the final vote tally 220 to 192 over House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) received three votes.

As was pointed out to me over the Holidays by an aged relative, people back in the old days didn’t worry about always washing their hands and keeping things clean in the kitchen and they all manged to survive. He really believes it is all over rated.

Restaurant Impossible sure makes it seem like we dodge far more bullets than we know…

  25. Sandi Saunders | January 4, 2013 at 1:10 pm

Hey pammala, you let me know when Boehner or any GOTPer gets over 63 million votes.
