Niners 32 — Ravens 27
49ers – 30 Ravens – 21
I read on this blog that one gun advocate referred to gun control advocates as “pantywaists”. I look at it from a polar opposite point of view. It’s my belief it depends on how you view the world. If an individual’s conviction is that the world is essentially a hostile environment in which our fellow citizens pose a omnipresent threat to one’s safety then that individual is inclined to carry a weapon at all times, I suppose. I’ve never viewed the world that way and do not consider myself by any means to be naive. And with the exception of one brother, my immediate family feels the same way.
My daughter is a young, single and attractive (IMHO) woman who lives by herself in NYC. In Harlem. And not in one of the gentrified areas of Harlem. She has lived there for four years. She teaches in The Bronx. Prior to that she lived in Brooklyn and L.A. Though she assures me she has never been assaulted, mugged or threatened I bought her pepper spray, which she does not carry. Perhaps her world view would change if she were ever the victim of a crime, I don’t know, but I doubt very much she would ever resort to carrying a gun. I realize she is one person, with her own set of beliefs and circumstances and experiences. Yet this makes me wonder how anyone could possibly label her or me for that matter a “pantywaist” i.e. coward, for not apparently living in fear that her safety is perpetually threatened. Personally I am far more concerned about my physical health and traffic accidents than I am assault. I take precautions on the road, with what I eat and with my security. But I just don’t feel the need to carry a gun. This is just one family’s take on it and this is definitely not an attempt to sway anyone, it’s just the way we are.

How could this be, in the dog-eat-dog world in which we live?
It’s because, despite the perceptions of some, the world is not necessarily dog-eat-dog. Do some dogs eat others? Yeah. Is that the rule? No, not nearly.

hey scott whitaker,
It might have been I who used the term “pantywaist”. I know that the word has crossed my mind on occasion while reading some of the “anti-gun” posts.
Good for your daughter for living as she sees fit, and, I understand your own views concerning her continued safety, as well as your own and the rest of your family. I respect your effort with your daughter, and your beliefs….and would hope that you respect the effort and beliefs of those who choose to legally own, and legally carry, firearms for their personal and family protection.
Over the past 20 years, two of my immediate family members have suffered violent attacks….which to them seem like they occured yesterday. Neither was carrying.
I hope you and your family enjoy continued safety.
Raves 24….San Fran 21….
Field goal wins it with time running out. Yep I called it right here on da blog.
I did however, have a vision. Our Lady of Apocrypha appeared to me in a vision last this morning as I was riding the stationary bike and gave me the final score. I don’t usually believe this stuff, but Suzie has convinced me that other people’s delusions are true, so it’s time I had one for myself.
I am not alone…

Frank, I’m sorry that two of your immediate family members have been violently attacked. That is uncalled for, and I hope neither was seriously injured. Really.
But, if you’ve encouraged them to walk around, loudly expressing the kind of opinions you post here . . .
That would certainly not make it right. I’m just sayin’ . . .
FWIW no one deserves to be violently attacked, unless they are in the act of attacking someone themselves, whether they’ve said something stupid or not. I kind of doubt Frank’s family members said anything to provoke someone, but I could be wrong.
Were they your children, hey frank? If so, you may be confusing “violent attacks” with somebody just trying to beat some sense into their heads with a 2×4.
If those apples didn’t fall too far from the tree I’m sure traditional learning methods haven’t been real successful so their educators had to think outside the box a bit. If your progeny hasn’t drowned by staring up during a thunderstorm or got poisoned by eating lead paint chips, you should track those “attackers” down and buy them a steak dinner.
If Frank’s family members are anything like him, I can see how they might drive people to violence. To quote Chris Rock….I ain’t sayin’ it’s right, but I understand it.
hey lookie, it’s steve c and kristen…two rotten peas in a pod.
and, no dano, they weren’t expressing opinions.
Thank you, Debbie, for at least thinking before you posted.
and, all of us in the family are aware that, despite dano’s belief that our world “isn’t dog eat dog”…..it most certainly is, and you just don’t know which dog is gonna be the one that turns on you.
So a heavily armed and highly trained military sniper – at a shooting range surrounded by yet MORE heavily armed law abiding citizens – gets shot dead along with his highly armed buddy. At a shooting range.
According to Gun Logic, the sniper should have been the safest human on the planet and in the safest place on the planet. Apparently not. The gunners’ rationales get thinner every single day. And I haven’t seen one of them yet have the stones to address this event.
C’mon JohnW and Jack. This is the time to bring all your “MORE GUN TRAINING AND MORE GUNS MAKES US ALL SAFER” to the table.
Cue the…”We’re not going to dance in the blood of a dead patriot blah blah Discretion and good taste precludes us from offering an opinion on this blah blah….”
Steve C, Kristen and Dan. That was pretty damn uncool jumping on Frank regarding his family members being attacked. This blog is expressly for spouting off ones opinions. Keep in mind folks mentioned above, many find your opinions to be offensive and weakening to our great nation. But, I have not heard a conservative voice on this blog imply that you or your families deserve violent attacks for spouting off your liberal nonsense.
AC,
I haven’t heard ANYONE say Frank’s relations deserved violent attacks, either. And assuming they were indeed attacked, I sincerely hope none of them were badly injured.
Pretending that someone said that is mildly offensive and weakens the debate.
On another subject:
AC, have you ever witnessed someone shooting their mouth off get punched? I have. There is no question that they didn’t deserve it. But it happened anyway. And in many cases, depending on the setting, it’s a predictable (though wrong and improper) result.
Another Chuck… are you sure? Just on one instance we have people saying others daughter are going to be raped because they don’t carry a weapon… others saying that our children are in danger because prayer isn’t in schools… the list could go on.
You are taking the side of a person who constantly calls others names and spits vitriol on every thread. He left himself open. Some may say he deserved the verbal attacks, I say he gets what he dishes out.
Niners 31, Ravens 24
I never said they deserved it, AnotherChuck. And Hey Frank comes on here and bags on his “tie dyed” sister almost every day…the meanest one about his family is him.
I did say that if you go around making people mad often enough, there’s a good chance that one day one of them is going to react poorly. And I have seen people say things they deserve a beat down for…I just don’t know if that was the case with Frank’s story.
Dan, I used the word “imply” to describe your(s) posts. I just thought y’alls particular string of responses was a little over the top. Frank seems to be an ok guy, he just doesn’t agree with the liberal/progressive or the atheists, 911 truthers, etc.. (I don’t either, but their posts and actions don’t affect me, so its fine to differ)I have never heard him “imply” violence was warrented due to these disagreements.

AC,
OK, whatever. It’s interesting that you seem so compelled to judge that implication, but not mikeO fantasizing my daughter getting raped to make a silly point about guns.
BTW, as to the score of the game:
Ravens 30, 49ers 12.
Hey Dano,
Let’s recap this discussion. In response to scott whitaker’s personal situation with his daughter, concerning her living arrangements in Harlem, I responding in a supportive manner which did not include a personal attack on Scott, his daughter, or his family. I also shared my personal circumstances which have led me to my way of thinking. I then supported my position concerning gun control, and wished scott and his family well. Period.
However, your lib-attack-dogs saw fit to attack my family personally (see steve c at 1:33 today….Kristen almost immediately following). …that’s just the way you libs are.
What I find absolutely incredible is that when AC called you on it, you actually said, “I haven’t heard ANYONE say FRANK’S relations deserved violent attacks…”.
Well, dano, what is your opinion of a libber saying…, well, …oh, heck, just check out the posts today at 1:33 and 1:53 pm.
Your lib-minions follow your lead, dano.
By the way, it’s no surprise to me. I know what I’m dealing with, here.
kristen,
i never mentioned my sister until yesterday. please stick with the facts as best as you can.
Dan, I did not see the Mike O post, but I imagine I would find it disturbing.
Justin True, if I were a betting man, I would wager that you are quite capable of protecting your family, property and self with firearms. I imagine if a backwoods, snake handling delegation of a dozen or so decided to teach you lesson about not believing in God…..I have a feeling you could “take care” of that group and your weapon(s) would utilize high-capacity magazines. I could be wrong. I have not seen your position on gun control, but I might have missed your posts.

gee, Kristen,
you sound alot like my dumb older sister. seriously! sheesh.
–Frank, Jan. 5 2013, 5:20 pm
yes, Kristen, my older sister’s 2 younger brothers still take it easy on her during family gatherings. we set things up so she “thinks” she wins the discussions…and being a lib, she happily and cluelessly goes right along thinking we admire her, ah, “smartness”. haha!
–Frank, Jan. 6, 2013 at 9:23 pm
————————————–
Conclusion:
1. Frank is losing his mind; or
2. Frank has TWO liberal sisters, one who wears tie-dye shirts and one who does not; or
3. Both 1 and 2.
Believe me, I do not look at the world entirely through rose colored glasses. Homes in which I have lived were broken into three times, once when I was young and twice as an adult. I worked in the criminal justice/law enforcement field for 30 years, once had a gun pulled on me and had a few other precarious situations. Our children remember when our home was broken into (no one was home on each occasion, my son had his car broken into while living in D.C. and recently his iphone was stolen. Yet he remains the ultimate glass half full person I think I’ve ever met. That’s how we view the world and choose to live.
I’m curious Frank why you take such a strident view on gun rights when you yourself do not own a gun? Do I remember that correctly? Sorry if I’m wrong on that. And what’s up with the “pantywaist” business when it seems to me the gun owners who feel compelled to carry 24/7 live in far more fear than someone like myself. I’m not following that…
Another Chuck, Frank has on several occasions been “pretty damn uncool” himself. (Notice he claimed “pantywaists”)
Scott Whitaker, I am with you, we do not live like an armed camp, drive or walk around armed and so far no one in my immediate family has ever had the need for a gun or anything more than our own common sense for “defense”. My daughter works in Center City Philadelphia so I am on that train with you as far as daughters go too. She would rather die than carry a gun and be part of the problem. That is literally how we see it.
It is not the same to respect that we are brave enough to face daily life unarmed as to respect that some people cannot. We do so because we believe it is right, we cannot respect that you do something we do not think is right. We know you have the right to do so, but respect it? No. Call me any name you like, it changes nothing except your level of decency. We are as entitled to our opinion and our choices as you are.
NOTHING being proposed takes that right from you, or even seriously impedes it. That truth remains whether you can admit it or not. You like beating up on us and calling us names as much as you like your assault weapons apparently. That they fail to protect so many of you so often does not seem to register.

Well said, Scott. I always felt my best weapons were the respect with which I treated people and the words I chose to communicate. By the way, congratulations on 30 years, sir. No small feat!
Another Chuck,
I did a Lexis-Nexis search for ”Another Chuck” and “Castigating hey frank for calling Steve C a homosexual” and for some reason my query returned zero hits in spite of hey franks month long obsession with me providing oral gratification to President Clinton. hey frank reaps what he sows and your crocodile tears couldn’t fill a thimble. If hey frank didn’t carry own like an intransigent infant with a full diaper people wouldn’t constantly be taunting him. Besides, he let his son go to a girls school, and for that transgression alone he deserves to be eternally mocked.
Sympathy fail, AC.
Ravens 28, 49ers 24.
Go Niners!
At the substantial risk of restarting the broken record that is heyfrank, has everyone already forgotten about his repeated but totally unfounded claims that Ambassador Stevens was raped and tortured?
No we haven’t Warren, but why bring it back up again?
hey, warren,
thanks fer bring that up. how do you know he wasn’t? i mean, it happened over 4 months ago, four Americans were brutally killed, i mean, what does it matter….so says bill’s wife, hillary….when she wasn’t “tired”, and didn’t have a “headache”.
Looks like my assessment of the 49er offense against the Baltimore defense was right on the money. But I seem to have underestimated the Raven’s offense against the 49er defense.
Damn, the Ravens are one hell of an exciting football team! (But you knew that from the Denver game, eh?)
Forgive me, Debbie, I was responding to the earlier posts (above) where heyfrank was, well…nevermind. You’re right, I should let sleeping dogs lie and lying dogs sleep.
Oh, Dan, give it another couple quarters. 49ers are moving the ball just fine. If not for the turnovers, this game is even. That said, if the 49ers don’t stop the Ravens on the first possession of the 2nd half, then the game is all but over.
Now, on to more important things. I haven’t seen a really good commercial yet. These companies are way overpaying for what they’re getting!
First, scott, I said it “might” have been me, because that word runs across my mind when libs spout their “guns kill” nonsense. By the way, how did I treat you when you shared personal information?
I’m a glass half-full person myself, scott. i generally take a dim view of the “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help you” fan club. and, I strongly believe in personal faith, hard work, and perseverance.
and, i beleive it is an individual’s right to chose whether on not to legally own a firearm, as well as legally carry a concealed weapon. i simply can’t imagine supporting government in their effort to take away a person’s right to defend and protect his family against a person who has a fiream illegally. Seriously, why we would legally cause there to be such an unlevel playing field between peaceful, law-abiding citizens, and gun-carrying criminals bent on harm is just beyond my thinking.
My word for the folks who urge that to happen is “pantywaists.”
heheheh…databases with time stamps. Good if you know what your talk’n bout and bad is you are just making stuff up or posting when drunk.
Well, that halftime show left us totally underwhelmed. Pass the cheese dip.
wow, dano, you personal record of my posts puts me in awe. you be da man! ok. i mentioned good ol’ sue 2x in early January. Sheesh. I guess i think about her more often than I realize. and, I suppose that’s a good thing. Thank you dano.
By the way, if i wanted to know how many times steve c has demanded (by his saying something pathetically stupid and uninformed) that i take a jab at him, could you tell me?
“if the 49ers don’t stop the Ravens on the first possession…”
That was quick.
She would rather die than carry a gun and be part of the problem. That is literally how we see it.
I agree it is better if people who don’t like guns and don’t know how to use them don’t carry them.
Holy cow, Ravens! Jacoby Jones blew up the stadium… literally.
No mercy!
FINISH THEM!
Yes, Art, about 11 seconds …
Steve C. I could not care less. He did not promote or imply violence was Ok against you or your family. Big difference there. Although you have the gift of the written word, please don’t confuse that ability for being right in your opinions. You just have an opinion.. Like the rest of us.
Hmmm, do we have a game … Gotta be impressed with Kaepernick, though it will take a while for me to spell his name correctly.
Okay, the Budweiser colt commercial gets my vote thus far.
i think its funny that …Beyonce …lip-synched… obama, and then actually …sang… at the super bowl.
actually, i think that’s funny+2!
Frank at 8:30,
“By the way, if i wanted to know how many times Steve C has demanded (by his saying something pathetically stupid and uninformed) that i take a jab at him, could you tell me?”
Save your breath, Dan. That would be zero times, hey frank; I never say things that are pathetically stupid and uninformed. You, on the other hand, had multiple opportunities to take back your pathetically stupid and uninformed nonsense about “Hook, line and sinker”. You declined every single out I gave you so now you’re my personal virtual slap monkey; deal with it.
The simple fact of the matter is that you ain’t a particularly bright feller and judging from the DMatt’s brief tenure here your progeny was likewise spawned in the shallow end of the gene pool. I take no pride in dressing down the pathetically stupid and uniformed but I’m allergic to the stupid and thus can’t help myself when confronted by morons, half-wits and fools.
As long as you insist on going back to the well I’m gonna’ keep burning you like Rick James with a hot crack pipe. Why not save yourself the embarrassment and just ignore me? I mean, you’ve never even got a punch in. It’s like I’m boxing with a double amputee, except your disability is mental.
This Farmer’s Daughter loved the Dodge Ram Farmer ad.

Blackburg Suz,
In terms of rhetoric AND delivery, it was and is hard to top Paul Harvey. He was a genius. He also was a conservative – but, he was an old-stripe, honorable, sentient conservative of the William F. Buckley mold (Buckley/Reagan + a dash of populism). That bunch is considered leftists today, because conservatism has been stretched so far to the right it now resides in the realm of lunacy.

Reagan– Views identical to those of the Tea Party. It’s the leftwingers who would be unrecognizable to JFK, for he fought against the communists these people have become.
It’s funny seeing all these bandwagon Ravens fans. Dan didn’t root for the Ravens as a youngster.
Yeah, Frankie, it WAS pretty hysterical that at the inauguration she was performing in the cold that could screw up the instruments and her v0oice while at the SB she inside a warm dome in New Orleans.
Wild game! Congrats to the Ravens. They earned it.

Only if he was a “youngster” in 1996.
I had no favorite in the game, but it had some great moments and the Ravens earned it.

Is ‘suzie’ making a joke? The Ravens weren’t around til ’96.
My favorite ad was the night vision goggles dude! The Paul Harvey ad for Dodge did rock!
LOL, that would have had to be the Colts Suzie.
suzie shows her usual lack of knowledge about sports by telling us that Dan didn’t root for the nonexistent Ravens as a youngster.
I DID root for the Colts before they left Baltimore and then I switched to the Redskins. I rooted for the Ravens tonight, but mainly cheered for a good close game. I got that.
All which reminds me that there was an estimate that tonight’s TV audience would be about 110 million. Meanwhile, last year the audience for one soccer game was 600 million.
Someone’s displaying her dearth of knowledge about football.
I rooted for the Colts as a youngster, and I’ve rooted against them ever since they left town in the middle of the night and hightailed it to Indianapolis. And, I have ALWAYS rooted against John Elway since he decided not to play for the Colts in Baltimore.
The Baltimore Ravens did not exist, of course, until I was 38 and I had lived here for 2 years already. But I’ve been pulling for them ever since.
I was never a big Skins fan. But I rooted for them every time they played Dallas. I have great antipathy for that team.
Love it when the underdog wins.
“Reagan– Views identical to those of the Tea Party. It’s the leftwingers who would be unrecognizable to JFK, for he fought against the communists these people have become.”

Nope. Saint Ronald Reagan, the former union president, and the diehard supporter of (nonpublic) labor unions, who was endorsed by the Teamsters, would be considered a RINO, if that, by the lunatics in the Tea Party.
The problem? Whether you agreed with him or not on the issues, Reagan wasn’t crazy, and he wasn’t an idiot. Above all, he was a compromiser with Democrats, and that’s why his name is mud in the TP crowd.
Paul Harvey was a paranoid stark-raving McCarthyite wingnut, but he was a master at social commentary. Great game, I really thought Kaepernick would deliver on the last drive. I do disagree with the no-call, the guy clearly held him by the jersey.
Suzies a lifelong Carolina Panthers fan.
For me, the most inspiring part of the Super Bowl was when Tim Teboy dropped to his knees and thanked God for letting him win a Super Bowl ring.
Oh, wait…that didn’t happen, did it?
ahhhh, ok, …let’s see what happens…everybody step back…
Hey steve c,
…”hook…line…and sinker!”
Even if suzie was just joking or trolling (as I write this comments haven’t been approved since last night but I’ll predict that no matter what she meant, suzie will claim she knew all along that the Ravens didn’t exist and therefore she was right saying that Dan didn’t root for them), the comment about bandwagon fans made no sense whatsoever. EVERY Super Bowl has its share of “bandwagon” fans because many folks whose teams aren’t playing pick a team to root for. Nothing “funny” or unusual about it at all.
And suzie should be just happy as a hog rolling in mud – the first thing Ray Lewis did on camera was to thank God.
I heard somewhere that Tebow is working in a Golden Corral.
How was Jones NOT MVP of that game?
Last night was the first time I can recall someone playing an instrument while singing the National Anthem. Alisha Keys did a good job I guess, but with a voice like hers I can’t understand the need for the piano. And she was sitting down to boot…doesnt that affect your singing voice as well? Guess I’m a purist when it comes to the National anthem, it should be sung acapella (sp) and standing up IMO.
The Paul Harvey/Dodge ad was the best of the night but the first Century 21 ad with the guy choking on the hotdog was hilarious. Least favorite ad….the Go Daddy one with the nerd and the super model….gross.
Game ended up being pretty entertaining too, though I think if the lights hadn’t gone out the 49ers were in a position to get blown out at that point, especially after that 108 yard KO return. Hats off to SF for making a game of it after that.
Yeah, Tebow. Funny.
Tebow became a starter when Denver had a losing record…1-4. He took Denver to the playoffs. He won a play-off game.
How many play-off games has Denver won with Peyton Manning?
And, Kristen, I’m with you (sorry). Jone’s record-setting run back touchdown was the difference in the game.
It’s funny seeing all these bandwagon Ravens fans. Dan didn’t root for the Ravens as a youngster.
Comment by Suzie — February 3, 2013 @ 11:03 pm
Suzie – We know you have all seeing powers but how do you know the NFL team affiliations for the (mostly) anonymous bloggers here??
Singing the National Anthem, IMO, at public events should involve everyone who is present. All should stand, if able to, put a hand over one’s heart & sing the Anthem. I guess I’m old fashioned on that matter.
I liked the Taco Bell ad w/senior citizens. I also liked the Skeetchers ad w/the cheetah, antelope & the young man.
I’m just happy when whomever is singing the national anthem gets through it with all the words right.
Someone’s displaying her dearth of knowledge about football.
I saw Bert Jones play at Memorial, hon. You have no idea who or what either is.
Tebow became a starter when Denver had a losing record…1-4. He took Denver to the playoffs. He won a play-off game.
How many play-off games has Denver won with Peyton Manning?
Exactly, Frank. Tebow isn’t the one who has it wrong. It’s the organizations who won’t play him. How’d the Jets do this year, btw?
The Harbaughs are great Christian guys. Most football coaches are in fact religious conservatives. It’s because results matter in that business. Only in government does the crazy stuff that doesn’t produce anything exist.
“Tebow became a starter when Denver had a losing record…1-4. He took Denver to the playoffs. He won a play-off game.”
We covered this ad nauseum last year.
Tim Tebow is one of 53 players on a team, and it most certainly was not his offensive abilities on the field which led them to the playoffs last year. The Broncos went 8-6 under Tebow’s reign, with 4 Overtime victories. (meaning they couldn’t get it done in regulation.) 3 of those Overtime victories were won by the kicker. Tebow threw for 12 TDs, but gave up 13 turnovers himself. 6 picks and 7 fumbles. Also, Denver’s magic that year owes a lot to the running game. They had the #1 rushing in the NFL that year.
The only thing you can say for sure is that Tebow was slightly better than Kyle Orton, who’s only made appearances in 5 games since.
The only reason anyone misguidedly likes Tebow is because they are a fan of Florida, or they are a fan of an incorrect ability for an invisible omnipotent man in the clouds guiding the hands of his chose quarterback. But guess what, similar to the invisible omnipotent cloud man, Tim Tebow as a winning quarterback… Neither Exists.
“I saw Bert Jones play at Memorial, hon. You have no idea who or what either is.”
–Suzie
And after the game she headed down to The Block to do a little business!
You “saw Bert Jones play at Memorial” and still thought people could be lifelong Ravens fans? Geez you and Frank are so bright it is blinding.
Oh, lord, the irony.
suzie says this of the NFL: “It’s because results matter in that business.”
And she says this: “Most football coaches are in fact religious conservatives.”
So in a business where it’s STRICTLY the results that matter, according to suzie, and where the coaches are pretty much religious conservatives, not a single team wants Tebow as a starter even though he can produce results, and they’re not playing him primarily because he’s a religious conservative.
Go back to the drawing board, troll.
The only thing you can say for sure is that Tebow was slightly better than Kyle Orton, who’s only made appearances in 5 games since.
Tebow (8-5) as a starter turned a dreadful team into a playoff contender through he 660 yards rushing (Odd you didn’t give him some credit for this team’s league-leading rushing status), through his motivational ability, and through his leadership. If you say his playing skills are limited, you have to ask where he got his ability to transform a team. He credits God for it. How do you think he did it?
So in a business where it’s STRICTLY the results that matter, according to suzie, and where the coaches are pretty much religious conservatives, not a single team wants Tebow as a starter even though he can produce results.
It’s the same reason Cody Grimm didn’t get a single D-1 offer out of high school.
Is there some business where results do not matter? Why do you constantly try to tie religion to business and governing? Religion is not a business and governing is not a business. They are very separate and distinct entities and do not need or in many cases want the three to converge as misguided people like you do.
Pornography is a huge business, as are illegal drugs, prostitution and human trafficking but they have nothing to do with religion and not much to do with the government if they can help it (look what you have in common). Results matter in those businesses too.
The Motion Picture industry, Publishing, Television, Theater, Manufacturing, Racing, and myriad other businesses are also results driven but have nothing to do with religion or government.
Only in your twisted mind is there some trinity for success in religion, business and government.
Not to mention that those “great Christian guys” and “religious conservatives” head up some of the most corrupt, dangerous and criminal groups of people this nation has ever produced and do not seem to care as long as it makes them money (results in your vernacular).
Not to mention that those “great Christian guys” and “religious conservatives” head up some of the most corrupt, dangerous and criminal groups of people this nation has ever produced and do not seem to care as long as it makes them money (results in your vernacular).
Well then I would say those guys aren’t very Christian at all in your scenario. But that has nothing to do with the Harbaugh brothers.
But the tie-in between being a good Christian and being successful in a wholesome business enterprise (not the vice industries you mentioned) could be summarized in:
“Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be given you besides.”
“How do you think he did it?”
I don’t think he did it. I think he was in the right place at the right time with 52 other competitors who played above and beyond.
If he truly was great, he’d be playing in the NFL. right now he’s a backup hybrid QB Tight End who can’t do anything on a horrible team.
Sure don’t hear you talking the praises of Robert Griffin III or London Fletcher who also credit god. but then again, they’re not the right color for you, are they?
“It’s the same reason Cody Grimm didn’t get a single D-1 offer out of high school.”
And that reason would be?
I heard somewhere that Tebow is working in a Golden Corral.

Are you denigrating the place of employment or the individual? Either way; shame on you.
If endlessly whining and cry-baby boodling to the officials makes for “good Christian guys”, the Harbaugh brothers must be two of the biggest Christians on the planet.
DAN:“I heard somewhere that Tebow is working in a Golden Corral.”
LEON: “Are you denigrating the place of employment or the individual? Either way; shame on you.”
Leon,
Nothing about that post was denigrating . . .I was joking, of course! Suzie is the biggest fan of both on this blog.
Thank you for demonstrating, once again, that you have absolutely no sense of humor. Have you ever met BobH?
“Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be given you besides” does not explain either the popularity or profit generated from Pornography, illegal drugs, prostitution/human trafficking, Professional Sports, The Motion Picture industry, Publishing, Television, Theater, Manufacturing, Racing, Alcohol, Guns or many other businesses. It is beyond sick that you try.
right now he’s a backup hybrid QB Tight End who can’t do anything on a horrible team.
What does that tell you about the management of that team and their decision making? Here’s the fact. Wherever Tebow has started, he’s won.
I don’t think he did it. I think he was in the right place at the right time with 52 other competitors who played above and beyond.
Just a coincidence that they didn’t start jelling until the sixth game when Tebow started, huh? Funny also how they won more playoff games with Tebow than they did with the great Peyton Manning.
But I’m still waiting. If Tebow sucked as bad as you say, his team should have continued losing. How did his team suddenly start winning?

“If A then B “does not equal “If B then A”. If you seek first the kingdom of God, you will be given earthly success however that is to be measured. But that does not preclude the inverse. People can be ungodly and materially successful on earth (athough they are often unhappy, and the ‘success’ perhaps fleeting. Someone with great talent in their legitimate field, for example, like Mike Tyson.
As far as illegitimate enterprises, it’s much easier for any two-bit punk to appear successful in the short run. John Gotti comes to mind. By appearances he had money and was popular within his depraved subgroup. But what did he have, really?
Bill Clinton is another example. He gamed a crooked system and enjoys popularity among his depraved subgroup, even though his career has been in moral tatters, one lie after another, a path strewn with death, destruction, and deceit.

I can think of a couple of possibilities here:
1) God favored Denver after Tebow began starting. God threw the games to Broncos to reward them for starting Tim. In other words, God cheats like an oddmaker whose bets aren’t balanced, and pays off one team to throw the game so his favored team wins.
2) As you said, the team “jelled” around their sixth game in the 2011 season. Kind of like the Skins jelled this year.
#2 Would suggest the Broncos won in spite of Tebow, not because of him.
#2 Would suggest the Broncos won in spite of Tebow, not because of him.
Great. So why didn’t Denver win in the six games before Tebow? Why didn’t they win any playoff games this year like they did under Tebow?
If endlessly whining and cry-baby boodling to the officials makes for “good Christian guys”, the Harbaugh brothers must be two of the biggest Christians on the planet.
“Boodling” doesn’t fit here, babe. Learn definitions before using words. Thanks.
I love the line “Tebow sucked. The only reason they won was because they led the league in rushing.” But then they forget to mention Tebow was the team’s second-leading rusher. You just can’t please the haters.
If God’s such a fan of Tebow’s, he certainly didnt reward the Jets for taking him off Denver’s hands.
Stat-wise, Tebow has not been a good QB in the NFL thus far. He has the dynamics of being able to run the ball or throw it, but his passing mechanics leave some to be desired. Most of his passing stats got racked up late in games when teams dropped into the ‘Prevent’ defense, which gave him openings to make plays he wasn’t making the other 55 minutes of the game. He has a great attitude though, and I definitely think his energy and leadership helped the Broncos turn things around and make the playoffs. It’s just hard to argue the turnaround that happened there.
With Manning at the helm, the Broncos had a far more prolific offense than when Tebow led them, and they won more games. Sure, they didn’t win their playoff game, but the loss had more to do with an incredible collapse of the Broncos secondary to allow a 70 yard TD pass at the end of the 4th quarter. Why the Broncos didn’t try running a play after that, I’ll never know.
The one thing to remember, is that Manning sucks in cold temperatures. He’s still yet to win a playoff game where the kickoff temperature is below 40. Tebow is 1-0 in such games, for what that’s worth. I honestly feel bad for the guy, winding up with the Jets…who seemingly had no intention of seriously utilizing him. It was one of the most puzzling signings made in the offseason.
I don’t know what team could use him, but with increased use of the Pistol and having mobile quarterbacks leading teams…if he can get some of his passing mechanics tweaked so he becomes a more efficient/effective passer, he should get a shot somewhere. If he landed somewhere that had a solid offensive line, a good QB coach, a decent running game, and 1-2 talented recievers with a good tight end, I think he’d have success because the supporting cast would give him a chance.

OJ, obviously Satan decided there could not be a Godly, successful player in the NFL, so he called the shot on Tebow’s trade to the Jets, then had him sidelined.
Satan is a pretty devious mofo, when push comes to shove.

“…a path strewn with death, destruction, and deceit.”
Perfect description of the George W. Bush years…thanks!
OJ, I agree that Tebow to the Jets was an inexplicable waste. I like Tebow. He’s a gamer, and that is hard to teach. I don’t think he is an NFL caliber quarterback. Perhaps a tight end or h-back will be the best use of his talents. Hope he finds the right fit.
hi Other John,
Let’s not forget that Tebow became the starter only after the Broncos’ had already lost 4 games. I don’t think substituting personal stats for team stats makes any sense concerning determining a quarterback’s suitability as a winner. Football is a team sport, which involves team chemistry as much as talant, in my opinion. The most important stat for team success is the win-loss stat. Tebow is a winner.
The only reason Tebow gets slammed by the like’s of ol’dano and like thinkers is their bias against any show of support by a player for Christianity. The lib-media began ripping him early and often, and all the guy did was win…which really pissed off the libbers….and ol’ dano.
I think they’re stups.
I don’t need to make a case as to why Tebow is bad. the NFL has made it for everyone. Nobody wants him, Not Elway and the Broncos, Not the Jets who are trying to unload him, and not even Jacksonville, his hometown team which went 2-14 this year and are completely rebuilding. The Spread Option Offense that Tebow plays is the wave of the future and nobody wants him.
He has been shown unable to improve against the NFL defenses. It’s that simple. And this isn’t my analysis, its the managers, coaches, and players analysis. People far more qualified to pass judgment than you or I.
That said, your its not difficult to be a QB and come in 2nd place in rushing for your team. Most teams have a #1 Tailback which gets 70% of the rush attempts. When a QB rushes, its because he can’t get his guys open or he’s incapable of making an accurate pass. (This later part is Tebow’s case.) So he Scrambles. Very few of his runs were designed. He doesn’t run the Pistol, nor is he athletic like Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, RG3, or Mike Vick (used to be.)
In the Pistol offense, which Redskins and RG3 employed this year, RG3 was able to run for 150 more yards than Tebow did. Not bad for being in “second place”. Though he was out rushed 2:1 by the leading rusher. As was to Tebow and McGahee.
So yeah, Tebow didn’t do anything special or miraculous. He’ll be nothing more than a backup for years to come, some sort of trick player to fool offenses into thinking theres a wildcat option coming.
Thanks for playing.
Hey Justin True,
Regarding your comment made yesterday at 3:21 pm, please, kind sir, show me where I’ve made any mention of another poster’s family on the blog in any way which wasn’t supportive.
If you can’t, then you should retract your statement…if you are honest.
I get the best that the libbers dish out, Justin, and I return as best I can. But, I make no negative comment concerning their families.
The libbers are the only ones who trash families, oe suggest that they should be harmed. I don’t do that.
Ok, dano, time to get to checking your archives…I already know where you might find what you’re lookin’ for, but I won’t tell you which thread it’s in. Have fun!
Gee, scott, you’re spoiling it!
It’s more fun to think that TT is out of a job because of a liberal conspiracy, spawned by Satan and aided by notoriously liberal sportswriters who fo course are on the payroll of the Communist Party USA.
Somehow Dan, I think his supporters would sooner say that than actually admit that there’s a difference between rooting for a player and stating he’s actually good at playing.
I like to watch people deny the truth because they are too ashamed to simply say “hey, i like watching the guy and i do so because of his values, and i dont care if he was part of a christian cult”
“Hey Justin True,

And btw Kristen, Frank is still waiting for you to retract your lie than Frank had mentioned his sister on this blog at any time prior to Saturday.
He has been shown unable to improve against the NFL defenses. It’s that simple.
That’s silly, and you have no basis for saying it. Tim Terrific shines when given the chance. When he’s the starting QB, his teams win. When he’s not, they lose.
NFL Team records with Tebow on roster:
With Tebow starting 9-6
Without Tebow staring 10-26
He made a terrible Denver team into a playoff winner.
Sorry, Frankie poo. I have a life to live. I will retract my statement just as soon as you apologize for calling gdad, “gdummy”, hows about that? If you are trying to get un-douchebagged, this would be a start.
“The libbers are the only ones who trash families, oe suggest that they should be harmed.”
Wow, Frank, huge lie. And we all know it. Was that a lib who talked about Dan’s daughter being raped? And I guess you sort of forgot the 50 dozen times suzie insulted my son. I could go on but no need.
And now Frank is even parroting suzie’s lying line about why Tebow isn’t playing. Of course they troll off each other.
Claiming that it’s all due to his overt Christianity ignores the MANY players who are overtly religious and play all the time. Remember all those guys who point to the sky and thank god every chance they can? It also sort of flies in the face of suzie’s assertion that the NFL is ALL about performance. Under that, if Tebow were performing at an NFL starter level, he’d be starting.
Gee, that was easy.
hey scott,
So, the Broncos’ won all those games despite Tebow, is that it? And, they lost the four games pre-Tebow because of Cutler. Do I have that right?
he Justin, so you’re Gdad’s big brother now! HaHa! He deserves you!
113.OJ, I agree that Tebow to the Jets was an inexplicable waste. I like Tebow. He’s a gamer, and that is hard to teach. I don’t think he is an NFL caliber quarterback. Perhaps a tight end or h-back will be the best use of his talents. Hope he finds the right fit.

I agree with you. Tebow seems like a good guy. That he wears his Christianity on his sleeve is no different than lots of other pro athletes
in the NFL and other sports. The reason he doesn’t play is because he makes a team one dimensional. He’s not a good and accurate passer and the coaches have been unable to get him up to speed on reading defenses. So when he does throw it’s often to the wrong receiver and frequently when he should throw, he’s too slow in his reads and ends up being forced to scramble. That works for a while because of unpredictability but ultimately it will get you beat.
Question:
Will TT accept reality and move to the CFL, where he might be a good fit or will his ego keep him trying to play in a league to far (over his head)?
hey gdad, and ol’ dano,
Gdad, there was no fantasy about anyone’s daughter being raped. The phrase used was in the form a hypothetical question or posture…not a desired event or outcome, not much like what was used much more recently about someone else’s immediate family, …”cause “they got what they deserved”.
Now, why don’t you be a good boy, and go find the exact quote which dano says “is a fantacy of a poster on his blog”, and post the words which prove your above comment to be accurate, and I’ll be happy to stand corrected. Won’t that make you happy?
I don’t recall anyone insulting your son. My point has been, …I… haven’t insulted anyones’ family. Period.
Dano, Hey, I know! Hey dano, please help ol’ gdad out with tracking down the posted “fantacy” you allege someone had posted about your daughter being raped.
I don’t think it was a fantasy, dano. I think it was more like a hypothetical question. Please site your reference, and prove me wrong concerning the “fantacy.”
No Frank. gdad takes care of himself very well. I just feel that you are a chump who hides behind your keyboard. Have you ever thought about obtaining some integrity? No. How about some mittens?

Tebow would make a good counselor/organizer/recruiter/executive for some organization like the FCA or a good coach/recruiter for the football team at some college like Liberty University or BYU. He can hang on for a few years in the NFL for the bucks as long as he is willing to keep embarrassing himself. Or he can move on and do something where he might be able to actually make a difference.
“I can’t understand the need for the piano. And (Alisha Keys) was sitting down to boot…doesnt that affect your singing voice as well”

Huntersdad, two words: Nat Cole.
Plus Fats Waller, Ray Charles, Carole King, Carmen McCrae, Shirley Horn, Jellyroll Morton, Roosevelt Sykes, Professor Longhair, Elton John, Norah Jones, Billy Joel, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Charlie Rich, Moon Mullican, Mickey Hawks, Otis Spann, and many more.
These are all in non-classical genres, but so is Alisha Keys. The best reason for her to stand would be to dance, but attractive as she is, she relies less on her bodaciousness than Beyonce does.
Huntersdad, I forgot you were talking about the national anthem in my last post. Standing to sing that might be better, I agree. But Ray Charles’ “America the Beautiful” was done seated too, and it’s conveys the song’s sentiment pretty well too.
hey justin true,
I just think you are a chump who…hey, that’s just what I was thinking!
Hey, I have a serious question for ya.
Why should non-lesbian women and lesbians be exempt from registering with the Selective Service, if non-gay males and gay males aren’t exempt?
Serious question, open-book style response accepted.
Maybe gdad and you could team up on the answer.
“My point has been, …I… haven’t insulted anyones’ family. Period.”
Lying again, Frank?
That, of course, was not your whole point. You also said this, “The libbers are the only ones who trash families, oe suggest that they should be harmed.” Which we know is not true. suzie, for one, has regularly trashed specific liberals’ children, including my son and Kristen’s children. Other right wingers have done so as well.
Still waiting for suzie to tell us why Cody Grimm didn’t get a D-I offer out of high school. Because he was Christian (snicker, snicker)?
“That’s silly, and you have no basis for saying it. Tim Terrific shines when given the chance. When he’s the starting QB, his teams win. When he’s not, they lose.”
Correlation does not imply causation, especially in a situation where he’s 1 of 53 players, not to mention dozens of coaches and assistants. Repeat at will: Team Sport, Team Sport, Team Sport.
“So, the Broncos’ won all those games despite Tebow, is that it? And, they lost the four games pre-Tebow because of Cutler. Do I have that right?”
No Frank, you don’t. Jay Cutler played for the Chicago Bears in 2011. We’re talking about the Denver Broncos who went 1-4 under Kyle Orton before Tebow came in after the half in Game 6. The team is responsible for the outcome. I never said that Orton is responsible for their losses, though I did say he’s only played in a few games since he was benched and released by the Broncos. Currently he backs up Tony Romo in Dallas.
IF you really want to read an analysis of Tebow’s playing, this is a good read, and was published before he went on to be irrelevant for the Jets. It talks about his intangibles which undoubtedly do exist, but it also talks about his obvious shortcomings as a ball-player. They say he will get better, and maybe he will if he works for a coach that can convert him, but he’s not going to get that in New York, and likely the NFL. He would probably be better off going to the CFL or Arena League to work on Mechanics for a while. (and how not to be a distraction.)
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1132160-tim-tebow-the-nfl-quarterback-an-unbiased-analysis-of-the-polarizing-qb
You can use all the stupid stats on how a team performs based on one player and whether or not he’s starting, but that’s just a correlative statistic. A lot of other things come into play on whether a team wins or loses… it could be the coach, the schedule, the health of the offensive line, the way the style of offense matches up against shutdown corners. You MOST OFTEN can’t lay it on one player. In a case where I think you can attribute the success of a team to one player are extreme cases such as this year with Adrian Peterson. Hence why he won the MVP award (Most Valuable Player) obviously not a Team award. If the Vikings did not have Adrian Peterson, that team would have scored maybe MAYBE half the points it would have.
Please excuse my grammar in the last post, I had to take a break in the middle of writing it a few times while in a conference call. Should have proofread, but I didn’t. And WordPress commenting does not support editing of your own comments (which it should.)
Judging by Frank’s spelling of ‘fantasy’ he must be from Europe…?
scott,
People on this blog are not allowed to take breaks for conference calls. You should know better!
hi scott,
Thanks for correcting my error on the Denver quarterback who Tebow replaced. I’m with you on the issue of whether one player is responsible for a team’s success, and simply note that replacing Orton with Tebow did, factually, result in a significant improvement in Denver’s one won-loss record, to the extent that they unexpectedly made the play-offs AND managed to win a play-off game, to boot.
I make no comparison of Tebow to Manning, just as I wouldn’t make any comparison of Luck to Manning.
My point with Tebow, which folks like you ignore, is that somehow, his teams manage to do pretty well. Elway and the media weren’t happy with how Tebow led the Broncos in 2011, and replaced him with arguably the best quarterback ever. And, they failed to win a play-off game. With essentially the same team as Tebow had the year before. And Tebow gets ridiculed. Kinda like Terry Bradshaw got ridiculed. Bradshaw was no media darling, ya know? But, he was a winner, and has 4 rings as proof. Or, to listen to his detractors, Bradshaw was just lucky.
You see how it goes, scott. Only time will tell.
sheesh, gdad! The only folks I have ever trashed on this blog are the posters themselves. I have not trashed any posters’ family. Period.
Libbers have trashed my family. I made my statement about “libbers trash families” based in large part on that experience. I have not seen anyone trash your son. I had no knowledge that you had a son until you just brought him up very recently.
Scott,
Brandt’s article is a good read, thanks for sending. I think he is a good writer, because both you and I appear to be on the opposite sides of the Tebow thing, yet we both respect what Brandt has to say.
In my opinion, the larger and more certain problem for Tebow is that the lib-media will be relentless wherever he goes. The Eagles took a chance on Vick, which I’m glad they did, but I don’t know that there are too many organizations that will knowingly want to give the media something negative to chew on day after day after day.
My only point with you, Frank, was making a statement like “The libbers are the only ones who trash families, oe suggest that they should be harmed.” I don’t remember liberals trashing families at all, but there’s no question that if they have, they sure as heck ain’t the only ones. suzie seems to have refrained from trashing our kids (who she doesn’t even know) recently, but she used to take great joy in telling us how lazy they were and how the only college they could get in was VWCC, along with other choice insults. She thought she was just funny as hell.
And you were the one who trashed your own sister. I clearly remember that one because I was pretty appalled that anybody would talk about his own sibling the way you did.
hey gdad,
Let’s see, I referred to my sister as a “tie-dyed libber”, or something thereabout, I think. I shudder to think of how she refers to me, politically. I didn’t wish her harm. I didn’t call her a retard. I didn’t say she rides the short bus.
I didn’t “trash” my sister, gdad. I didn’t say anything along the lines of, after knowing she got physically assaulted…, that “she deserved it”.
Did I?
There’s no moral equivalency. So, stop making more of a fool out of yourself than you already have.
CONTEST!
How does’s Frank’s “tie-dyed libber” sister reefer to Frank, behind his back?
Dan, if Frank’s sister really is a “tye-dyed libber,” she probably “reefers” to him all the time.
“So, stop making more of a fool out of yourself than you already have.”
HayFrank…even you have to see the irony here.
…behind my back, dano, she probably refers to me as her “smart, handsome, lovable, brother”.
hey kristen,
i figured you’d like that…
“I didn’t “trash” my sister, gdad.”
Frank, you just can’t stop lying, can you? You called your sister “dumb” and “clueless” a month ago. That’s not trashing?
Now, please quit embarrassing yourself. It’s really quite pitiful.
“simply note that replacing Orton with Tebow did, factually, result in a significant improvement in Denver’s one won-loss record, to the extent that they unexpectedly made the play-offs AND managed to win a play-off game, to boot.”
Well, they sort of backed into the playoffs. They were on track before losing the final 3 games of the season. They were 8-5 with a schedule against New England, Buffalo, and Kansas City. However, I do not agree with the wording “result in a significant improvement” I would say that his placement had little to no effect on whether the team won or lost, but I would place blame on Denver’s Defense. Take Tebow’s passing numbers.. He didn’t match Orton’s yardage until **8** weeks after he took over for Orton. McGahee’s numbers were down as well. However, the defense yardage allowed and points allowed really improved, (save for the Detroit game.) If you’ll look at Tebow’s wins, all but one are by 1 possession or less.) It could be argued either way, but all things being equal, I’d still not place responsibility or blame on Tebow or Orton for the teams performance as a whole. The evidence points to better than average work on the defense, and a decline in productivity from Orton to Tebow. Tebow being in the right place at the right time seemed to have just been in the right place at the right time. That said, he also had the lowest completion percentage in the league in 2011.
“My point with Tebow, which folks like you ignore, is that somehow, his teams manage to do pretty well.”
I don’t understand how you can make this claim when he’s only played for three years and One team went 3-11, one 8-8, barely winning a playoff game, and the other went 6-10. (total record: 18-29) He hasn’t played for a “doing pretty well team” since he left Florida.
Or, to listen to his detractors, Bradshaw was just lucky.”
This is where I agree with you. the media has a FIELD day with this guy because he’s so polarizing. Skip Bayless especially. This guy’s whole program thrives on Tebow. People hate him because of his Christianity just as much as people blindly believe he’s an amazing quarterback because of his Christianity. I have a problem with both. Some people are angry and some are stupidly blind.
And note, Frankie, that suzie doesn’t even bother trying to deny her past trashing of families.
