Back & forth with a witty but reverential conservative
Your daily Letter to the Columnist — Feb. 5, 2013
Dear Rev. Casey:
It seems every time you run out of sermon ideas you start preaching the Democrat Party/Roanoke Times line to the choir again.
Have you ever seen a party/candidate’s survey/fundraiser that wasn’t worded to elicit desired responses?
This subject should be good for a few more columns, after which you might consider asking your readers for their opinions on the FairTax.
(But don’t expect many responses on that one; it requires thinking.)
By the way, what is YOUR opinion on Mother’s Day and Apple Pie?

Mr. Dobbins,
Thanks for the email. It made me laugh!
Would you mind if I republished it, in its entirety, on my blog, as an upcoming “Your daily Letter to the Columnist”?
Thanks for reading my stuff and for taking the time to write.
Sincerely
Dan Casey

Hey, Dan:
Sure, go ahead and blog it. Generally I don’t write for publication.
One thing I like about you is that I sense you do not get irate when a conservative challenges you, unlike many liberals.
They make it very hard to exchange ideas.
Sincerely,
Don Dobbins

Thanks Don,
I thought it was conservatives who get irate when they’re challenged by liberals!
Just kidding — folks on both sides need to lighten up.

Dan,
Not every time; sometimes conservatives shoot liberals, which eases their angst!

The “Fair Tax” isn’t and let’s don’t!
I don’t think I ever got a survey from Rick Boucher where the questions were, in essence, answered for me.
