I appreciate the impressive artwork of Justin’s tattoo, but I am not a fan of them. My daughter has three. I prefer art on canvas instead of skin, but that’s just my personal quirk.

To each, his own, but I would never permanently “brand” myself. As a child I learned that many older folks who got tattoos in their youth wished they hadn’t.

Interesting authors. Who’s the face supposed to be? I thought Poe at first but all the writers referenced are non-fiction.
Justin if you ever stop being an atheist, you’ll have a challenge. :)

How stupidly tone deaf are some of our gun lovers? Towngun in Collinsville is having a Presidents’ Day sale. Make sure you get the pistol with the built-in laser for better aim.

    Really?

“How stupidly tone deaf are some of our gun lovers? Towngun in Collinsville is having a Presidents’ Day sale.”

How stupid is your comment? Everyone else has a “Presidents’ Day sale”. Big deal.

I like the ink. It makes people think.

  8. John Wilburn | February 17, 2013 at 12:26 pm

Justin, did you add any of those books over time or was it all done together? Just curious.

And what is the thing about the laser sight, gdad? You’re the one who thinks every defensive shooting will be some thousand stray round Jonestown result. I’ll take you at your word that you want them to get the laser to prevent such an outlandish scenario.

    A sad story, Ron.

Nothing stupid at all about my comment, John W. What a wonderful idea — have a gun sale on the day that celebrates a great president who was assassinated using a gun. What idiocy.

  12. John Wilburn | February 17, 2013 at 3:11 pm

    gdad:

“What a wonderful idea — have a gun sale on the day that celebrates a great president who was assassinated using a gun. What idiocy.”

So do you think Ford Motor Company or any of its dealers are insensitive for having a Presidents’ Day sale? Kennedy was shot while riding in a Lincoln. Or how about a theater that has a Presidents’ Day discount?

I stand by calling your comment stupid.

He has yet to be convicted, BTW.

  17. Kristen | February 17, 2013 at 8:10 pm

It just happened three days ago, JohnW, first of all. Second of all, the presumption of innocence applies to the courtroom, not the court of public opinion. Do you consider OJ innocent of Nicole’s murder?

McCain commenting on whether or not someone’s “qualified” to do something is as ironic as Frank passing judgment on someone’s intellect.

The link below informs us of yet ANOTHER senseless killing in…Chicago…teenage girl…younger sister was on stage with obama on Friday, during his speech…in…where else? Chicago.

Crazy Chicago, where libs like obama, rahm, the daly dynasty, and all of their ilk, have presided over that city’s government, and the resulting deaths of it’s young people, for decades.

And, obama STILL thinks it’s about guns.

I think it’s about a wedge issue he can relentlessly campaign on.

    Something to Ponder?

    Here you go,
Why were these guys invading this house? Would those on this blog consider the homeowner a “gunner”? Were any of the invaders or the homeowner a CCP holder? Will the RTs be able to determine this in the future? Does anyone care? I bet the homeowner doesn’t care about any of these questions and neither do I, but the incident is still under investigation.

    Nietzsche make the list?

  23. Kristen | February 17, 2013 at 8:40 pm

BM, that story doesn’t sound like a random home invasion, and there’s almost no information in the piece. The answer is unclear…ask again later.

  24. Frank | February 17, 2013 at 9:20 pm

Based on the story told by the homeowner to the police, I’d say the homeowner was very fortunate to have had a loaded weapon handy.

Gosh John W, I didn’t realize that the car ran over Kennedy. When did that come out? Or the theater collapsed on Lincoln (I’ve never heard of a theater Presidents’ Day sale)?

Nothing stupid at all about my comment. A Presidents’ Day gun sale is sheer redneck idiocy.

  27. Big Momma | February 17, 2013 at 9:46 pm

    @23 Kristen,
As I said, the incident is still under investigation. Obviously this story troubles you that a homeowner may have protected themselves with the use of a firearm. Perhaps further investigation will help your
    conscious.

I will ask you a question, is any home invasion truly random? Are they without thought of possible gain in monetary value, revenge, thrill?

Again, as you have trouble comprehending, as I said this incident is still under investigation, but the title of the thread is “Something to ponder”, so I was throwing out a bone.

I guess thought is troubling for you. I apologize.

  28. Dan Casey | February 17, 2013 at 9:54 pm

Are you feeling a little more conscious now, Kristen?

I hope your conscience isn’t bothering you.

  29. Kristen | February 17, 2013 at 9:56 pm

What a stupid thing to say, BM. “Obviously it troubles” me? I couldn’t care less. You posted a pile of nothing then extrapolated a bunch of nonsense from it. Which makes this an obvious subject for HayFrank, so chat with him. Neither of you is overburdened with a need for information, so perhaps you two could “ponder” all that nothing together.

What the heck had happened to the “right” on this blog.

  30. Kristen | February 17, 2013 at 9:57 pm

Dan lol. A few more posts on the “low information” thread and I’ll be striving for unconscious.

  31. Dan Casey | February 17, 2013 at 10:05 pm

    Kristen,

I think all the half-bright and bright conservatives are off trying to figure out a strategy for the future. They left all the others to pepper the blogs with inanities.

Oh, the crosses we must “bare!”

  32. Big Momma | February 17, 2013 at 10:11 pm

    @28 Dan,
Attach the spelling because the possibility that a homeowner was able to defend themselves burns you at the center of your existence.

    @29 Kristen,
Obviously it troubles you because you have responded not once but twice.

Again Ms. Kristen, please tell me how any home invasion is random as you you inferred in you post #23. Is thought not put into what monetary value, revenge or thrill may be gained from such invasion? Does such thought not make such invasion random?

Dan do you care to answer for this clueless little chic?

  33. gdad | February 17, 2013 at 10:24 pm

Frankie and BM obviously are totally unaware that sometimes these situations end up being quite different from what the homeowner tells the police happened. That’s why they “investigate.” It’ll be interesting to hear what they were after.

  34. Dan Casey | February 17, 2013 at 10:31 pm

I did not “attach” anything, LOL.

Man, the third string is trying hard tonight!

  35. Kristen | February 17, 2013 at 10:37 pm

    I am indeed tres chic.

  36. Big Momma | February 17, 2013 at 10:54 pm

    @33 Gdad,
What part of my original post #21 “but the incident is still under investigation” do you not understand or care to comprehend?

I agree with you, but why do you, Ms. Kristen and Dan have so much trouble believing this may be a true home defense case?

  37. Kristen | February 17, 2013 at 10:57 pm

And, in the English language, the difference between conscious and conscience isn’t a function of spelling. They’re two different words. Talk to HayFrank, BM. He’s your guy.

  38. Frank | February 17, 2013 at 10:59 pm

you know, gdud, just when i think you couldn’t post anything more unthinking than you already have, you burst right on through and post one that’s even more unthinking….

I said, “based on the story told by the homeowner to the police…”

Please, just sit there and ponder that sentence for a little bit, and see if you then can agree with my statement after all.

  39. Big Momma | February 17, 2013 at 10:59 pm

Tt’ll be interesting to hear what they were after.
    Comment by gdad — February 17, 2013 @ 10:24 pm

    Gdad,
Many states are decriminalizing marijuana and other drugs. Would it make it ok if those invading the home were after drugs?

Does the pursuit of drugs or a high eliminate the right of property owners?

  40. John Wilburn | February 17, 2013 at 11:07 pm

    gdad:

“A Presidents’ Day gun sale is sheer redneck idiocy.”

A ridiculous stretch, even for gdad. Nobody would have thought anything about that until you told them they were supposed to be offended. Take the last post on this if you want it; I will not engage in a Marked Man-style peeing contest with you.

  41. John Wilburn | February 17, 2013 at 11:11 pm

    Dan:

“Man, the third string is trying hard tonight!”

LOL. No kidding. Do they have a monthly meeting or something? Seems like they all come out of the woodwork at the same time for some reason. Next time I see a big group at a restaurant, I think I’ll say “Hey Bob…” If half the group turns around, I’ll know I happened upon them.

  42. Kristen | February 17, 2013 at 11:19 pm

JohnW, we had a drinking game in college called “Hi Bob”. This blog makes me harken back to it.

  43. Dan Casey | February 17, 2013 at 11:21 pm

“why do you, Ms. Kristen and Dan have so much trouble believing this may be a true home defense case?”
    –BM

BM I haven’t written a word about this home invasion. So I don’t know why you’re “attaching” me, because I don’t particularly give a damn about it. But apparently I upset you greatly by refusing to engage with you on it. And that is weighing on my “conscious.”

You really might be better off posting on this thread!

  44. Kristen | February 17, 2013 at 11:23 pm

Even BM won’t talk to HayFrank. Seriously, y’all are too dumb to even interact with eachother?

  45. Dan Casey | February 17, 2013 at 11:43 pm

Man who called toddler “N-word baby” then slapped him on a plane is now jobless.

Where would that executive ever have learned such language? Oh wait — he lived in the Idaho panhandle town of Hayden — former headquarters of the Aryan Nations!

The Idaho panhandle is the most proudly racist place I’ve ever visited. It’s bizarre. I’ll never forget the breakfast where the waitress delivered a racist joke along with our eggs.

  47. pistol pete | February 18, 2013 at 11:56 am

Justin quotes the bible more than any of those other titles. Where is that on his stack of books?

The bible obviously influences his beliefs.

  48. pistol pete | February 18, 2013 at 12:01 pm

“Another Teabagger hits the unemployment line.”

Another Liberal labeling and stereotyping. To Kristen, anyone who is a racist in the Aryan nation is also in the Tea Party.

    Is your last name McCarthy?

  49. Sandi Saunders | February 18, 2013 at 12:44 pm

I LOVE the tattoo Justin! It is artistic and it is “you”, which is very important. No one should get a tattoo that does not mean something to them.

I love mine as much now as when I got it years ago. I intend to get another. And yes, I will still love it when it is touching my knees, if anyone needs to know.

Big Momma, who here has ever said a homeowner has no right to self defense (? Why does someone always have to stir this stuff up?

  50. Sandi Saunders | February 18, 2013 at 12:52 pm

When anyone takes a second to think of the Presidents we have had assassinated, I do not think it is a “stretch” to think a “Presidents Day Gun Sale” is gauche.

  51. Leon | February 18, 2013 at 12:57 pm

    Krustan@46. . .but. . .the man was a liberal progressive? ? ?

    My comments is awaiting moderation???

    What did that start??

  54. Justin True | February 19, 2013 at 7:47 am

  56. gdad | February 20, 2013 at 4:53 pm

Last I looked, BM, drugs haven’t been legalized in Virginia and this home invasion shooting happened in Virginia. Right? The home appears to be basically a large trailer so we’re not talking about a mansion loaded with goodies. Maybe they were after guns?

  57. Justin True | February 21, 2013 at 7:39 am

Hey Everyone! I really appreciate the compliments on my tattoo! The authors are ones that really inspired me to make something better of myself a few years ago. If I would have put all the authors that inspired me, the stack would have went all the way up my back! LOL!

pistol pete, I wanted to put the bible on there, because it did inspire me to become a better person as well. But I just didn’t want to put a work of fiction in with books that inspire reality (not trying to be an A-hole, just honest).

Ron May, actually there are two trees on either side of the little boy. One is a painting infused into the tree by my tattoo artist, Jackie Rabbit, and the other tree has a DNA strand as the trunk. This is a spin off of a painting by David Stoupakis, and the very talented, Jackie Rabbit, of Star City Tattoos and Piercings on Brambleton here in Roanoke put this amazing piece of art on my arm. Finding a tattoo artist that is in it because they truly love what they do and want to do a great job because they love art and the challenge, is very hard to find. I will always be most thankful to Jackie for her talent and hard work.
