Thur. Aug. 22 letter by Katie Brown is a great example of how stupid the oil and gas industry thinks everyone is. FYI, this “researcher” works for Energy In Depth. Does she think someone is not going to Google that? She should have just said she works for the Independent Petroleum Association of America. Look who pays her salary. What do you think she is going to say? I used to work in the mining industry. I know what drill rigs look and sound like and I have been in areas that to late see what they have signed away. This is not going to bring economic prosperity for anyone but those at the top of the industry and the shareholders.
Well, Greg, when I brought up Katie’s job over in the RT blog, I found out that she sure fooled good old Al. He thanked her for all those “facts.”
This discussion is another proof of the old adage: “Don’t sign anything until you read and understand the terms and the fine print. If you can’t, hire a lawyer to explain it.” Ignore this rule at your peril!!
Where are the geologists and soil scientists on this issue? This has become political before the facts and issues are known. NEVER a good thing. I get it that conservatives are fine with ruining the earth and decrying science, but really, how long will our towns and cities last without potable water and stable earth? All the gas in the world can’t fix that.

Metro Columnist Dan Casey knows a little bit about a lot of things but not a heck of a lot about most things. That doesn't keep him from writing about them, however. So keep him honest!
He welcomes your rants, raves and considered opinions, so long as the language is civil (i.e. no four-letter words). He'll read all your posts and may or may not respond.
