Meet John Whitbeck, Republican chairman of the 10th Congressional District Republican Committee. He’s quite the comedian. Tuesday in Sterling he was warming up a crowd for a “Constitution Day” appearance by GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli. Watch him tell a joke about Jews:
Cuccinelli campaign chief Chris LaCivita later disavowed Whitbeck’s attempt at humor to The Washington Post, saying he didn’t even know Whitbeck (who’s one of the Republican activists who helped Ken avert a Republican primary against Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling).
But the Jewish Daily Forward was not amused.
It’s about Jews presenting the pope with the bill for the Last Supper, so it packs two of the most toxic anti-Jewish stereotypes into a single punchline: God-killers! Cheapskates!
