Your daily Letter to the Columnist — Sept. 26, 2013
I wanted to send a huge debt of gratitude to the City of Salem for recalibrating the stoplight at Market and Main. If on Market, crossing Main, what used to be a full 5 minute wait with little to no cross traffic is but a blip now that the light changes when you pull up to it.
Because my kids go to daycare at Fellowship Community Church on Red Lane, my morning commute leads me through that intersection towards Roanoke College and my afternoon commute goes through that intersection the opposite way.
I don’t know if you can find out if they only do that while college is in session but if that is the reason, ask them to please not change it back next summer.
The shortened wait at that light makes my commute much less stressful!
Thank you for your time and keep up the good work!
Note from Dan: Now if Roanoke can fix the timing of the light at Granding Road and Brandon Avenue, which is totally biased toward traffic on Brandon!
