Post of the Day — Sept. 11, 2013
Note from Dan: Yesterday we had a post from Sally Mullikin in which she called Dave “Mudcat” Saunders “a rube-style bumpkin mouthpiece prostitute” after he indicated support in the governor’s race for Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. Below, Mudcat responds.
” I seldom comment on blogs, but since this is my hometown, I will make an exception.
1. I am pulling for every Democrat on the state ticket except McAuliffe. I really, really like Ralph for Lt. Governor. Unlike T-Mac, I am a Jacksonian Democrat who is sick of the Wall Street- directed trade policies that are destroying the middle class (especially true in this part of the world) and is forcing our most hard-working kids to leave the area. McAuliffe was in the middle of that in the nineties, and his sale of visas to the Chinese conclusively prove he’s still in the middle of it.
2.- All I’ve said (so far) is I was “pulling for Cooch,” which I am. For my Democratic brethren who think McAuliffe is fit for office, I have this to say. I told both the McAuliffe camp and the Washington Post that I would re-think my position on Terry if he did what Cooch did and release eight years of tax returns. If Terry is clean, I will apologize to him and gladly say I was wrong. He said last year that Mitt needed to do the right thing and release eight years of taxes. What has changed in the “right thing” over the last 10 months? Only one. T-Mac got asked for his. It is my belief that if T-Mac did the “right thing” and released his tax returns, he would get less than 30% of the vote as only the most partisan of Democrats would show up to vote for him.
3. Read the non partisan, best-selling “This Town” for more info on Terry, and you might have at least some empathy for my position.
