WOW. Van Jones, now there’s a fair unbiased voice.
The Roanoke Times has become less a voice of the people from SW Virginia and more and more a forum for liberals and snoody intellectuals who enjoy making others feel inferior; it dishonors the heritage of hardworking self-sufficient individuals who made this land what it is today.
Listen to the message, Don. It’s absolutely true. Republicans are running away from their own ideas, once Democrats embrace them. It’s embarrassing. It means one of two things:
1) They were never sincere about their own ideas in the first place; or
2) They would rather chuck their own ideas than let Democrats share in the credit for enacting them.
It’s gotten so bad that if Nancy Pelosi suggested a 1-year delay in the ACA tomorrow, the House Republicans would run away from that, too. I’m serious. They’d run away while demanding full repeal or nothing.
Oh No! Now that the truth has been revealed what will the GOP do for their next trick? My guess is they will eventually be reduced to babbling about Demon possession and DNA profiling. Oops, they’re already there.
“…liberals and snoody(sic) intellectuals who enjoy making others feel inferior; it dishonors the heritage of hardworking self-sufficient individuals who made this land what it is today.”
Oh boy, now we get Don, another tea drunk Palinite who hates intellect and thinks that Madison, Hamilton, Jay, Jefferson and Marshall either weren’t intellectuals or didn’t help make this country what it is today.
Don, it took city boy doctors for country boy Bocephus to survive.
I am so glad we got that cleared up. Democrats always right. Republicans always wrong and look dumb. Thanks.
Seriously, I can’t believe the bosses at the Roanoke Times let you fumigate liberal ideas to try to sway the readers of the Times.
it figures that Dan would give a communist the floor when it comes to talking about Dan’s hated enemy, Republicans!
Every once in awhile I glance at Mr. Casey’s rants just for the entertainment value. Alas, he is now so far gone over the ledge that it is no longer worth a click or two. God bless you Dan (can I even say that in your world?), I have clicked my last on your blog.
Dan that would be nuts. It would be crazier if the repubs did the same thing wouldn’t it like ask for a delay or something crazy like that.
Those nut hubs would probably ask for the delay during budget talks or some other completely inappropriate time. Those dems might “run away” demanding no changes to the ACA or nothing. Heck that might shut the dag gum government down mighten it?
Haha – I have a soft spot for hypocrisy and partisan politics.
Dan@2. . .Van Jones is putrid racist hate. Neither he or you have a clue what
truth is. Obamacare is designed to take healthcare to single payer and climate change is a hoax. Both are based on lies Liberal Progressives wish
the rest of us would buy into. Obamacare has become an epic fail too soon as the government (and particularly this administration) are too inept and
inefficient to deal with the scope of the matter. Climate change is pretty much
off the table. . .it was all a lie. The Liberal mantra is to manage fabricated crisis to achieve ends they could not otherwise win in honest debate.
Shame on you for blog topic; it’s disgusting.
A big lib like Richard Cohen now thinks Obama is incompetent. So Dan trots out a communist radical to support his position
A well-spoken black guy telling the truth always stirs up a certain crowd!
A well-spoken black guy telling the truth always stirs up a certain crowd, eh, Leon?
Dan really hit the proverbial nail on the head with this blog title! Dan is just as predictable as the mechanical bunny at the dog track!
Dan@12. . .try Thomas Sowell, Walter E. Williams or Bill Cosby. . .black men who think and convey truth. Van Jones, like Obama, is not honest or truthful.
Dan@12. . .throw Dr. Benjamin Carson in the mix also Dan. He should be available once his IRS audit is completed.
and according to good ol’ VP joe biden, obama is…
“well-spoken and clean.”
Are you serious, Dan?
I wonder if your handlers with Buffett, Inc. see value in your race-baiting approach to discussion?
Leon @ 10:07,
“Shame on you for blog topic; it’s disgusting.”
In America we generally prefer to converse using complete sentences; kindly respect our cherished traditions or move to a country more tolerant of half-wits.
He did indeed tell the truth…Barack Obama will be remembered for two things: ending the unnecessary wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and starting America onto the path that all other industrialized countries had already taken: a universal health care system that recognizes health care as a right, and not just as a privilege for those who can afford it. As usual, conservatives will have to be dragged kicking and screaming to accept it, and if you look at their history of opposing anything decent that didn’t have to do with their own profits, it’s no surprise. The future belongs to progressives.
I love Van Jones….he always comes across as articulate, informed, and level headed.

A well-spoken black guy telling the truth always stirs up a certain crowd!
Yep. You must be referring to Ben Carson
“A well-spoken black guy telling the truth always stirs up a certain crowd!”
Now here we have an interesting issue. Frank immediately interpreted this comment as race-baiting of the rankest sort. He darkly warned me that the my employer would be displeased by it (was there a hint there that he was going to report me or something?).
Terps, on the other hand, took this very general, very vague sentence at its face and applied his own context and values to it, and reponded with something pointed an funny. That’s the mentally healthy way to respond — as opposed to the way Frank did, I mean.
I think what we can conclude from this is that Frank immediately saw it as race-baiting because that’s the world he knows, understands and lives in. And Terps saw it a totally different way, because he doesn’t know and live in Frank’s world.
+1 Terps (even though I wasn’t talking about Bed Carson).
Rick Howell@18. . .he’ll also be remembered for being the biggest liar ever unelected as unpresident and this administration will go down as the one with the largest amount of illegal and corrupt acts ever perpetrated on the American people. We’ll have to build a new prison for the UnPresidential library.
They are like Ann Coulter, and they mean it too! “Our blacks are so much better than their blacks, to become a black Republican, you don’t just roll into it. You’re not going with the flow…and that’s why we have very impressive blacks in the Republican party.” Cause their special. We have “plantations” remember!
I will grant you that no minority can just “roll into” being a right wing Republican. It takes some contortions most minorities find offensive. When you see what it takes to be ‘impressive” in the right wing “TEA Party”, you know what she means. No truth but their truth, no God but their God, no right but their right. That’s inclusion for you.
The Democratic Party stretches from Van Jones to Ben Nelson. The Republican Party stretches from Michele Bachmann to Rand Paul. If I wanted to be kind, I would have said, from Michele Bachmann to Susan Collins but they call Collins a RINO themselves.
No Leon, he won’t!

. . .he’ll also be remembered for being the biggest liar
I think that honor will go to the guy in the picture linked below.

Metro Columnist Dan Casey knows a little bit about a lot of things but not a heck of a lot about most things. That doesn't keep him from writing about them, however. So keep him honest!
He welcomes your rants, raves and considered opinions, so long as the language is civil (i.e. no four-letter words). He'll read all your posts and may or may not respond.
