Note from Dan: Here’s an interesting Facebook post regarding an appearance by Ken Cuccinelli at First Baptist Church in Roanoke on Sunday. It’s from Terry Huxhold, who’s president of the Waverly Place – Fallon Neighborhood Council. I’ve reproduced it below, including additional comments from Huxhold as it attracted comments from others.
“An interesting thing happened at First Baptist of Roanoke today. One of our members Ralph Smith brought a guest with him today, Ken Cuccinelli.
This caused an uproar as people walked out of the church. Of those that stayed, most were highly upset that he was invited. A lot of displeasure was voiced. I only hope this event did not destroy the reputation of our church.
It was intense there. A lot left. He was introduced and they left. This is why so many people are leaving many churches. They should not be a place for politics. If he was not introduced by Ralph Smith, I do not think it would have caused the uproar.
Was a very stupid move on his part. He caused great harm. I’m afraid that many will not return.
The deacons were very upset about today’s event. Ralph Smith always sits right behind the pastor. I think it was spontaneous and the church suffered.”
You can read the developing conversation on Terry Huxhold’s Facebook page.
If Ken Cuccinelli is so unwelcome at First Baptist Church, it does not bode well for his election chances.
