Note from Dan: When last we heard from Steve Nettemeyer, it was here.
After the recent fiasco in Washington, one thing is clear. The tea party’s intent is to shut down government and all social programs.
Adherents believe everyone has the same opportunities for jobs and prosperity. Why do we need Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, veterans benefits or even public schools? No one owes anything to anyone else. Don’t tread on me.
The immorality of this ideology lies in the fact that most of these people claim to be Christians. Jesus said: “He who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” The hypocrisy of this ideology lies in the fact that most of these people benefit from programs they wish to abolish.
Rest assured, tea party politicians will vote to shut down government the next chance they get (in February). When ideology outweighs common sense, chaos can result.
Who voted to shut down the government? Reps. Bob Goodlatte, Morgan Griffith and Robert Hurt. I implore everyone to vote these extremists out of office in 2014.
