Your daily Letter(s) to the Columnist — Nov. 19, 2013
Thank you for your, as always, highly entertaining column this morning. You have us laughing out loud over our morning (paper!) newspaper and coffee.
You provided me with a blast from the past when you talked about your realtor friend John Wilburn. You mentioned his parents, Nina and Marvin.
I grew up in Bluefield, Va., and I do believe that Nina was employed by Bluefield College. Moreover, I took art lessons from Marvin’s mom over on the West Virginia side when I was in junior high.
Mr. Wilburn, also Marvin as I remember, worked for Coca Cola. During December art lessons one year, I remember Mrs. Wilburn gave us some “punch out and put together” card-stock Christmas Coca Cola decorations that Mr. Wilburn had provided to us.
This would’ve been in the 60′s. It’s funny, I’d seen reference to those decorations on Pinterest recently.
Thank you for the blast from the past!
Well this time at least Maryland won, eh?
An enjoyable read for which I thank you, as I entreat you to keep up the good work.
