Hispanics now account for nearly 8 percent of Virginia’s population
The folks at the Weldon Cooper Center at the University of Virginia have put together this summary of the Hispanic population in Virginia, along with a map.
Among the highlights:
* The state’s Hispanic population increased by 92 percent during the past decade.
* Hispanics now account for nearly 8 percent of Virginia’s population.
* About two-thirds of that is in Northern Virginia.

In general, the Hispanics with whom I’ve had contact have been pleasant and a great addition to the population of the Roanoke valley. They’ve brought with them a fresh infusion of the things that our society needs to embrace once again… faith, and work ethics. And America as a whole is enriched with the cuisines that our new Cousins bring with them from afar.
