About the Datasphere
Throughout 2011, a team of Roanoke Times reporters and editors will parse through the mountains of data released by the U.S. Census Bureau gathered during the 2010 census.
We’ll look at population trends, changes and other figures that will help us paint an updated picture of who we are and who we’ve become as a region and a population.
The Datasphere blog is our hub for census news and miscellany. Look for stories throughout the year here, at blogs.roanoke.com/datasphere – and explore our interactive population maps and ongoing coverage over at roanoke.com/census.
If you’ve got questions or suggestions or story ideas to share, e-mail Brian Kelley at brian.kelley@roanoke.com.
About Matt Chittum, data delivery editor
Data Delivery Editor Matt Chittum blogs about the latest data he’s collected for the Datasphere, roanoke.com’s home for search-it-yourself databases.
Matt is a 15-year veteran reporter who started out at The Roanoke Times in 1993 as an editorial assistant typing livestock reports and taking late notice obituaries.
The semi-reconstructed punk rocker is a father of two who runs marathons, plays guitar no better than he did in 1985 and cuts his own hair.
Despite his job title, he denies being a geek, a nerd or a bore, though he believes he might be able to pull off that whole pocket-protector look.
