Rebecca: If your plants still look healthy, definitely replant in new soil. Look mainly at the stems. Are they rotting from overwatering, or do they still look strong? If you caught it early, your plants will probably be fine.

Hopefully things will start looking up from here!! I have a completely unrelated question. I planted baby watermelon a month and half ago, and the pot I planted them in didn't have sufficient drainage, so the soil has gotten moldy. Are my watermelon plants garbage at this point? Or can I get rid of the soil and replant the plants in new soil?

Good for you! With the weather year we've had, we may all be harvesting tomatoes at Thanksgiving anyway. I think your asparagus will be okay as long as you give it plenty of compost or manure in early spring. Do keep us updated as to how the survivors and new plantings progress.
