I will admit that I don’t do all that much seed saving myself. The one seed that I do save and share are for ground cherries, but I’m pretty lazy in how I go about it. All of the instructions I’ve read online are way too much work, so I experimented one year and found out the lazy way works perfectly fine.
I just keep a couple of cherries at the end of the year – or hand them out to whoever wants them – and put them in a paper bag to dry out. Come spring, I soak them overnight in water, slit them open and plant the whole thing in seed starter, kind of spreading out the seeds as I go. I get huge germination rates.
