Today, June 30, enjoy the sight and scents of lavender at the annual Lavender Festival at Beliveau Estate Winery in Blacksburg.
The winery grows lavender, and the Hidcote and Provence varieties are both in bloom this time of year. The festival is an opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauty and scent of fresh lavender, while listening to music. Enjoy a picnic, a glass of wine or lavender lemonade. Lavender plants and products will be for sale, as will lavender inspired foods. Wines will be provided by Beliveau Estate Winery.
The 2013 Lavender Festival will be held from 12:00–7:00 p.m., rain or shine. Harpist Julia Fallon will be playing under the hilltop pavilion from 1:00-3:00 p.m., followed by The Highland Jazz Trio, playing soft jazz from 3:00-5:00 p.m. A-Chord, a flute and guitar duo, and Melanie with her violin, will serenade festival goers at the winery building throughout the afternoon.
Artists will be on-site painting from 12-5pm. Watch them bring the lavender to life on canvas in the winery’s annual Plein Air Art Contest. No admission fee for the festival.
