Pickin’ and grinnin’

We had a flub in Features and forgot to mention photographer Josh Meltzer’s wonderful strawberry picking video with the column today. So I’d like to share it with all of you now. I dare you, after watching this video, to NOT want a fresh, juicy strawberry to gnaw on!

In other news, Roanoke Public Libraries are hosting an Introduction to Thai Cooking class later this month. If you’re interested in learning more about this intoxicatingly delicious cuisine, check out the details after the jump.

And don’t forget to enter my Mother’s Day recipe contest! The prize consists of a whole package including a Pampered Chef apron, knife, spatula, measuring bowl and seasoning blend as well as a Betty Crocker cookbook written just for women.

    Yummmmm… strawberries! I STILL haven’t been to pick my two or three buckets worth.

    I just fell in love with Thai food last month. I never really liked it before. I went to Tong’s Thai Too near Tanglewood recently and loved it. You can check out my review in the latest Prime Living magazine (at the entrance to any of the Kroger’s).

    Funny thing: I took my three McDonald regulars and told them we were eating Thai food. They were fine until we sat down and looked at the menu. My oldest looked all over it and said, “HEY! This is Chinese food. I thought we were eating Thai food.” I explained this WAS Thai food. This was when she realized she wouldn’t enjoy this meal as much as she originally thought. A lesson learned for everyone!

    Gluttony – that’s what I have to say for myself and my husband. We got two buckets from the local farm on Friday and we had them all but demolished by Sunday. They were HUGE and were so sweet and juicy! I just wish the growing season was longer for strawberries. I’m going to get a few more buckets and freeze some of them for strawberry shortcakes in the off-season!
