The fate of Ukrop’s
A rumor that has been floating around central and Southwest Virginia for more than a week may have some truth to it. The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting that the owners of the Ukrop’s grocery store chain may be searching for buyers. Our business reporter, Jenny Boone, has been doggedly following this story for more than a week and has posted one blog entry over on her Storefront blog.
Stay tuned to Jenny’s blog and mine, as well as the home page of Roanoke.com, for more updates.

If I needed to hear more Ukrop’s. Dunkin’ Donuts and Thrift Store coffee shop updates, I’d go THERE, not here!

That’s kinda where I was telling you to go, Rich.
Lindsey don’t be upset. Rich has a chip on his shoulder because he works for Kroger and you aren’t providing him with enough publicity for his store!
Oh, I’m not upset. Rich is one of my main blog men. I’m also pretty sure he doesn’t work for Kroger.
He definitely does not need to hear more about coffee shops…it’s called decaf….look into.
Lindsey, I appreciate your pointing me towards Jenny’s blog in these cases as I don’t always look there first. For what it’s worth, I’m terribly sad that Ukrop’s is looking for a buyer. Maybe those who didn’t make a connection with the store the way those of us from Richmond have, can’t understand. And that’s okay.
I’d better leave it at that. Thanks for the update.
