Cookbook Giveawaaaaaaaay!

Alright, readers, it’s time for another cookbook giveaway, and this time I’ve got a prize for someone who is trying to lose weight and get in shape for bathing suit season. Ugh. Could it really be so close?

Fans of the hit reality show “The Biggest Loser” may be familiar with “The Biggest Loser Cookbook” by Devin Alexander. Well, now Alexander has a new book on shelves called “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Fattening: Over 150 Ridiculously Easy Recipes for the Super Busy.” Who ISN’T super busy in America these days? Only the people who are super-duper busy.

Many of the recipes in this book include low-fat or fat-free ingredients, to which I know some would object. But a good number call for “real” food ingredients. Some examples: Breakfast fried rice, blackened salmon sandwich, Old Bay potato wedges and orange shrimp.

To enter to win this book, comment on THIS blog post no later than 2 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) and tell me one thing you would do if you reached your goal weight that you cannot do right now. Fit into that pair of jeans? Put on a bikini? Run up the stairs? The winner will be drawn at random.

Here’s a super simple sample recipe from Alexander’s new book. It’s for grilled turkey cutlets with cranberry honey mustard sauce. Enjoy!

Grilled Turkey Cutlets with Cranberry Honey Mustard Sauce
Serves 4

1/4 cup canned whole berry cranberry sauce
1 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. honey mustard
1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 lb. trimmed boneless, skinless turkey cutlets
Sea salt and pepper, to taste

1. Preheat a grill over high heat.

2. In a small bowl, mix the cranberry sauce with the honey mustard until combined. Cover the bowl with a paper towel and microwave on high in 15 second intervals until the mixture is hot and begins to thin slightly, about 30 seconds total. Stir again to combine.

3. Rub the oil and then the salt and pepper evenly over both sides of each cutlet. Grill them about 1 minute per side, or until no longer pink in the center. Transfer to a large plate or platter and top evenly with the sauce. Serve immediately.

    I would LOVE this cookbook!

And if I reached my goal weight, I would go shopping at the mall for clothes, which is something I haven’t done in as long as I can remember.

Yes I would love a wonderful pair of jeans and I would love a bathing suit that is sexy.

For me, I’d be able to do the other yoga positions I currently can’t do because they require more bending at the waist than I can currently manage. I’m pretty good with most others though that don’t require me to sandwich myself in half, much to the chagrin of my wife who gets frustrated when I can do some of the more complex ones that she can’t.

We’ve set a goal of eliminating wheat (done) and HFCS (working on it) this year to improve our diets and lose weight and the dietary problems those cause. One problem we have is that we both work fairly long hours, and we have to cook at home because eating out exposes us to too many wheaty things we can’t eat. Any ways to also cut down on the fat but not the flavor, that would be an added bonus!

I would be able to have more confidence!

  6. Misti Acosta | March 25, 2010 at 12:11 pm

I would love a cookbook like this to use for my husband who has just lost 100 pounds!

  7. Elena | March 25, 2010 at 12:30 pm

If I lost the weight I want/need to I would throw away any elastic waisted pant I own! Sounds like a great cookbook, please count me in.

I would love this cookbook. It’ll help me prepare food to have more energy for photo shoots, and it’ll help me be healthier so I can spend more time playing with my daughter.

  9. L | March 25, 2010 at 12:51 pm

I would like what I see in the mirror better!

  10. Catherine | March 25, 2010 at 12:56 pm

I would love this cookbook! I love to cook but not healthy, so hopefully this would help!!! When, not if, i reach my goal weight, ill be proud in a bathing suit!

  11. Karen | March 25, 2010 at 1:31 pm

When I lose the extra weight, I’ll be able to fit in my closet full of smaller clothes! That will be great!

  12. Becky | March 25, 2010 at 1:32 pm

I would love to try new healthier recipes!

  13. Sharon | March 25, 2010 at 1:40 pm

It would be nice to bend over and tie my shoes!!!

  14. Leisa | March 25, 2010 at 1:40 pm

If/when I reach my goal weight, I would have a ceremonial tossing out of the 8 bottles of medicines I’m currently on to control all the health problems I have because of the excess weight I carry. So yeah, PLEASE count me in!!

  15. Ken | March 25, 2010 at 1:40 pm

I would get rid of this extra bit of gut and perhaps be about the same size I was in high school.

  16. Chris | March 25, 2010 at 2:04 pm

Fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes. I took full advantage of the concept of eating for two and it didn’t help that my biggest cravings included McDonald’s double cheeseburgers and Oreo cookie Blizzards. I have to admit thoroughly enjoying throwing caution to the wind while pregnant but returning to pre-preggo size continues to be a BIG challenge (my son is almost 18 months old). Both my hubby and I work full time so yummy, light, fast recipes are always something we seek.

I would like this cookbook because I too love to cook, but I’m not a great healthy cook.

If I were to reach my goal weight, I would be able to feel better about the skin I’m in and have more confidence in myself. And yes, I would proudly wear a bathing suit!

  18. Kris | March 25, 2010 at 2:20 pm

I would go mountain bike riding with my fiance! It’s my goal to be able to do that by the end of the summer.

  19. Betsy | March 25, 2010 at 2:25 pm

I’m with Misti…my husband has lost 80 pounds with more to go…

  20. jason | March 25, 2010 at 2:35 pm

    i’d be happy.

  21. Susan | March 25, 2010 at 2:35 pm

I would love to learn to cook more healthy, and this would be a good start. If I lost weight, my BP would be down, and I’d have more energy and probably live longer. I might even be able to talk husband into losing some weight. Yeah, right… like that’s gonna happen (grin).

  22. Tami | March 25, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Several years ago I lost 50 lbs (thank you!) but have put alot back on. I just moved into a new place that has a pool and the thought of putting on a bathing suit scares the heck out of me. I would love to have the cookbook since I love to read cookbooks anyway!

  23. Jesse | March 25, 2010 at 4:40 pm

Attract the ladies, of course! :)

  24. Sarah | March 25, 2010 at 5:12 pm

  25. Cee | March 25, 2010 at 5:39 pm

What a great giveaway! Thank you! If I were to reach my goal weight tomorrow, I would start running again. I was over 270 in July of 2008, am down to 188, but have a ways to go yet … thank you again!

  26. Thom | March 25, 2010 at 5:54 pm

    Me please!

  27. Harold | March 25, 2010 at 6:03 pm

I would go into stealth mode, sneak up on stink bugs, and dispatch them to Sarah Palin with gusto.

  28. Ally | March 25, 2010 at 8:42 pm

I would love a low fat cookbook. If I reached my goal weight, I would go hiking with my family and be able to breathe!

  29. Denise | March 25, 2010 at 9:09 pm

I would buy a pair of Seven, Citizens of Humanity, or True Religion jeans and flaunt it!

  30. Melissa | March 26, 2010 at 6:33 am

I would be able to wear a bikini. I have not worn a bikini since I had my first child was born almost 17 years ago. I am right now, 10 lbs. closer to my goal, than I was a month ago! Thanks for offering the cookbook, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IT! And thanks for the low fat recipes, they help get me to my goal.
