Check out the 1890 ad for a food grinder. It shows pigs and other animals cheerfully diving into the grinder in pairs as if they're boarding Noah's Ark. Sheesh, some of these ads would make people's heads explode today!

BBQ - Ah, me! At the blog's recommendation I eagerly went to Bad Wolf in Rnke Tuesday night. There was only one other table and only two others when we left - my first hint of trouble. The three of us got the BBQ platter. My NC vinegar BBQ had no taste, no zip, no tang. Maybe they forgot to put the sauce on? Collards were canned - Why did I expect anything else? All three of us got some type of French fries - all were limp. The beer was good. Three Little Pigs in Daleville has them beat hands down. I can't think of any reason to go back. Very disappointed!

The most hilarious ad is one that Nona pointed out to me. It's under 1970, page 4: http://www.vintageadbrowser.com/food-ads-1970s/4
It's an ad for sugar. The text reads:

"The 'fat time of day' is at mealtime. When you're really hungry and likely to overeat.
That's the time your appestat is turned up.
The trick is to turn down your appestat shortly before mealtime. A little sugar, in a soft drink, or a candy bar can be a big help.
Sugar turns into energy faster than any other food.
Sugar helps your appetite stay down while your energy stays up. And you're safely past the 'fat time of day.'
Sugar... only 18 calories per teaspoon, and it's all energy."
